[male narrator] It's Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics.

Staring Scooby-Doo and the g*ng.

Scooby-Doo!

[male narrator] Blue Falcon and his mechanical misfit

Dynomutt, dog wonder.

That's me.

And introducing the world's first superhero

Captain Caveman

and his mystery solving companions, The Teen Angles.

Captain Caveman!

[male narrator] And it's round-the-world triple team competition

with the Scooby Doobies, Yogi Yahooeys

and Really Rottens.

[snickers]

Forty-five stars in The Laff-A-Lympics.

Yes, it's Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics.

♪ Ready set let's go ♪

Yeah!

[male narrator] Greetings sports fans and welcome back

to Laff-A-Lympics.

We begin today's athletic excitement in Quebec, Canada.

Where the exciting and brisk lacrosse batting contest

will be held.

Then we gerbil the globe to distant blistering Baghdad

for the second half of today's exciting match.

[crowd cheering]

Now, down over the quaint roof tops

of this French-speaking city to Toot Sweet Field

in the heart of Quebec.

And your sports casters for this event

Mildew Wolf and Snagglepuss.

Enter stadium right, the first event

is the lacrosse batting contest for accuracy.

Here are our guest judges

Monsieurs Fred Flintstone

'and Barney Rubble'

who'll explain the finer points of the sport to you.

Thank you, thank you.

Now every game has its basics.

With football, it's blocking and tackling.

With lacrosse, it's the art of scooping.

Allow me to demonstrate.

Mr. Rubble, heh, if you will insist me by tossing in a ball.

Happy to oblige, Fred.

Now, the objective is to scoop up the ball and simply lo-lob

it into the.. Oops!

While Mr. Flinstone continues his demonstration

I'll attempt to explain the way we score.

Each player will receive three throws

'from our automatic lacrosse practice machine.'

The greatest number of scoops into the goal

receives 25 first place points.

The second, 15 points.

And the third, ten points.

He's going mad.

crash

Hey, Fred, the ball's supposed to go in the net

not the scooper.

When I want your opinion, Barney, I'll ask for it.

[male narrator] And now competing in the lacrosse contest

the one and only Quick Draw McGraw

for The Yogi Yahooeys.

[cheering]

[male narrator] Next the great competitor Shaggy for The Scoobies.

[cheering]

And representing the conniving group of tricksters

the irascible Daisy Mayhem.

Scooping for the...Rottens?

And you better believe it.

[male narrator] And to start the contest, Quick Draw McGraw

steps into the scooping circle.

The fastest scooper in Quebec

and d-o-o-n't you forget him.

[laughs]

We'll see how fast he really is since

'I moved the pitching machine up to extra rapid, eh, Mumbly.'

[snickers]

Now, let her rip.

[machine whirring]

They not only ripped, but they tore it to shreds.

[male narrator] Well, that tears it for the Yogis. No score.

This lacrosse could make a fella sore.

[male narrator] Next in the scooping circle is Scooby Doo

who is in there with his coach, Shaggy.

[cheering]

Wonder how they'll cheer

when he gets three ba*ls at once.

[snickers]

Lacrosse scoopin' is just like scooping ice cream.

Oh, yum. Oh, boy, ice cream!

[slurping]

Oh, boy!

Eh, that's not ice cream.

Phooey.

[male narrator] Scooby's scores all three ba*ls into the net

I did? Oh, boy!

Drat.

[snickering]

What are you laughing at?

[continues snickering]

What a dunderhead.

Now, we've gotta do our rottenist for Daisy.

[male narrator] The final contestant in the circle

is Daisy Mayhem, scooping for the Really Rottens.

Ya-a-a-hoo!

When one speaks of lacrosse, here's one girl you should

never cross, double cross even.

You can say that again.

I hope you don't.

There ain't nothin' to lacrosse scooping.

'It's exactly like butterfly catching.'

Except the hard part's keeping the critter in the net.

Savages, simply savages.

crash

Over.

How uncouth?

[Snagglepuss] Except, you forgot one thing, Miss Charm

Mildew isn't the official sponge rubber pellet.

Shucks, I know that. He's too squared to be a ball.

And I'm ready to do some scoopin' that'll win this match.

Okay, machine, flare blast.

Move it.

Yaa-hoo! Gotcha, now to score them points.

Now for a little insurance from The Great Fondoo.

Abrakazoo. Abrakazed.

I'll handle this Fondoo.

Put that Rotten scoop into the net.

[expl*si*n]

Oh, darn it, Fondoo, you've been using some of your

full-of-holes-Swiss-cheese magic again.

We've got a special rolling on the Rottens.

[male narrator] Yes, Mildew, Daisy Mayhem scooped all three

lacrosse ba*ls into the net.

But unfortunately they were disqualified

when she went into the net too.

And that's to you, my bumblin' Rotten helper.

[male narrator] That winds up the event.

The Scoobies win with three scoops

in the net and receive 25 points.

[cheering]

And by special ruling. The Yogis get second place

and 15 points.

[cheering]

While the Rottens get third and ten points.

[booing]

Now we move outside old Quebec to the scene of our next event.

In the forest of Fontainebleau.

Snagglepuss and Mildew Wolf

back again for today's Canadian tree cutting contest.

While our three teams are getting ready

Mildew Wolf here, will explain the rules.

It says, the winner will be the contestant

that chops down a tree the quickest

in under two minutes.

So, let's go meet the contestants.

Tree chopping for The Yogi Yahooeys

'are Doggie Daddy and Augie Doggie.'

We're tree chopping with a saw.

That's my son, a chip of the old block.

That sure is a real dog act.

Well, look at these lovelies with the Scooby Doos.

[male narrator] And surrounded by the Teen Angels

Captain Caveman will be doing the cutting.

Me, ready.

[Mildew Wolf] 'He'll probably eat the tree down.'

He ought to do great. Looks like a forest himself.

[male narrator] Finally for those Really Rottens

Orful Octopus and Mr. Creepley.

An octopi tree-cutting machine. I'd like to see how that works.

You've got it, Moldy, demonstrate, Orful.

[whirring]

- Yeah, a Rotten buzz saw. - Let's cut out.

[male narrator] Time now to start the tree chopping event.

The Captain is selecting his tool.

Rake, hm, no. Hm, hammer? No.

Argh! Chopping.

Go, baby, go.

Go, Cavey, go.

Remember, now, son of mine. When I says push, we push.

When I says pull, we pull.

- Ready now, son? - Got you, hero dad.

Push, pull, push, pull, push.

Faster, son of mine, push, pull, push, pull..

Okay, Orful, it's about time we have at it.

Let's wind up a little Rotten power.

[growling]

How does a woodchuck chuck?

It appears that Orful, is taking the lead for The Rottens.

'Captain Cavemen is rocking away for the Scooby Doobies.'

And the Yogis' song is a sorry sight.

Push, pull, push, pull.. Hold it.

[panting]

There's something logistic-icaclly wrong

with my logistitics, dear old son of mine.

Uh-oh, tremorin' tree tops.

[male narrator] Orful and Captain Caveman almost have their trees cut.

It won't be long now.

[grumbling]

The Orful Rotten tree is falling.

[male narrator] And it looks like they'll score a win.

The Rotten tree has struck the Yogi tree.

They're both falling.

Now the Rotten tree is hung up.

And the Yogi tree is the first to fall.

[cheering]

Hm, me cut.

[male narrator] Captain Caveman comes through.

[cheering]

But for falling their first, The Yogis are the winners

and receive 25 points for first place.

I don't understand it, dear old dad. We won.

If it hits the ground first, you win, unless it hits you.

[male narrator] Taking second place and 15 points

for The Scooby Doobies is Captain Caveman

and his lovely helpers.

And for The Rottens, whose tree didn't hit the ground

the results are obvious.

Braack!

That's a sore loser's opinion here in Fontainebleau Forest.

Now for the scores.

[male narrator] The Yogis now total 40, the Scoobies also add up to 40

to tie the Yogis, and the Rottens

add ten for third.

But wait. Pause, even, that's only the first half.

We'll be back in the second half from Baghdad.

To tie things up, so to speak.

And with the ropes, from the magic rope

climbing contest.

Magic, magic? Did someone say magic?

I specialize in smoke tricks.

No smoking allowed in the woods, Fondoo.

But this is magic.

Abrakazoo. Abrakazad.

Goodbye for now. See you in Baghdad.

[expl*si*n]

[coughing]

- 'It's smog city.' - 'Exit, stage one alert.'

[coughing] 'Cough even.'

[male narrator] As Fondoo's magical smoke clears

we welcome you back to the power house

second half of today's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics.

Coming to you from beautiful downtown, Baghdad.

Grape Ape.

[male narrator] Our first event will be the high-flying, hair-raising

flying carpet races.

And for the finale our athletes will endeavor to execute

the grueling and difficult mystical magic

rope climbing event.

And thus, decide which team earns the fruits of victory

and the coveted Laff-A-Lympics gold.

To recap our scores

the Yogis and the Scooby Doobies

are tied with 40 points each.

While the Rottens tag along with a mere 20.

Now to Baghdad's busy airport for our first event.

So let's go to the roof of the control tower

and join our on-the-scene reporters

Snagglepuss and Mildew Wolf.

Who are anxiously standing by on top of the tower.

Duck and bye even.

You said it, Snag.

I've heard of wall-to-wall carpet

but air-to-air carpet is too much.

[male narrator] The racer will fly from the airport

to a barge in the Tigris River and back.

First to finish wins.

Now, to introduce our contestants.

First, the Grape Ape who'll be racing

the single sheet special for the Yogis.

Looks like he's testing the springs on this hottest number

in the Baghdad skies.

Uh..

Uh-oh, shock absorber failure.

But no matter the single sheet special carries

a 6000-mile, 12-month guarantee.

- And it's easy to park. - Grape Ape.

Yapple daffle.

[male narrator] And here's the flying carpet ace of aces, Babu.

Pilot of the new wide frame design air suspension model

that is representing the Scooby Doobies.

thud

Ooh, that hurts.

[male narrator] As you just saw, he forgot to fasten his seat belt.

And, finally, on a very Rotten flying carpet

is The Great Fondoo and the Magic Rabbit.

Braack!

There is a certain amount of secrecy considering

this Rotten entry.

But we'll just have to wait and see what it is.

Braack!

I see that the carpets are on the starting line

revvin' up their rugs a fringe benefit.

[male narrator] The tension is up to fever pitch.

And a starter drops his flag.

They're off.

As expected Babu has taken an early lead for the Scoobys.

Look at me go. Yapple daffle.

[male narrator] Grape Ape is in the second place spot

but due to weight ratio he's greatly overloaded.

Grape Ape.

[male narrator] While Fondoo and Magic Rabbit ripple along in third.

Braack!

Get goin', Fondoo.

Watch this rabbit transit.

Abraca zodie, abraca zelar.

Okay, Magic Rabbit, make like a propeller.

Braack!

[whirring]

[Daisy] That's movin' it, Fondoo.

Yaahoo.

I'd like to rent her out as a fire siren.

[whirring]

Bye-bye, Babu.

Yaffle daffle. Yaffle daffle!

[whirring]

[male narrator] The racers have reached the banks of the Tigris

and are rounding the pylon

and heading for home.

The Magic Rabbit has Fondoo in the lead.

So, magic is allowed.

I was born on a flying carpet.

Yaffle daffle.

[whooshing]

So, Babu is using the jet power, eh.

Here's a real magic, Fondoo.

You faker, you.

Well, here's some real Rottenness. He he.

They are "ravenously hungry tiger moths."

And they'll make short work of that jet-job Persian carpet.

Abraca zoo, abraca zeez.

Eat that carpet like Swiss cheese.

[munching]

Oops, structural failure.

Grape Ape!

Just hitchhiking, Grape Ape. Just hitchhiking.

- Grape Ape. - Yaffle daffle.

[male narrator] It looks as though we have a tandem carpet in the race.

But the Rottens still hold the lead.

We have the airport in sight.

Start your let down.

[whirring]

[male narrator] Fondoo, the Rotten entry is on final approach

and headed for the finish line.

But the overloaded Yogi entry is in trouble.

He's cleared the first hangar..

thud

[male narrator] And here comes Fondoo, winning in a really Rotten fashion

leaving his partner to make the dangerous landing alone.

[cheering]

Braack! Ha ha ha.

You can say that again.

[male narrator] Let's check on Grape Ape and Babu.

Mildew Wolf here.

Tell us what's going on with Grape Ape and Babu.

Everything's okay.

The story started that Grape was son of that actor

'that hung around in the Empire State Building.'

'And they won't let him stop signing autographs.'

[male narrator] What happened to Babu, the Scoobys entry?

Oh, he went out to get his carpet rewoven.

The judges have just confirmed the results.

"The Rottens get 25 points and the Yogis and the Scoobys

who blanks for no finish."

[male narrator] Making the updated score show 40 for the Yogis

forty five for the Rottens and another 40 for the Scoobys.

Now we move to the ancient wall market

of Baghdad.

Place of mystery and the scene of our final event

the famous Indian rope trick.

Well, here we are, at our contestant's rope's end that is.

It's none other than the team captain of the Yogis.

The Great Yogi Bear.

Smarter than the average rope climber.

One two, one two, one two..

Yogi's the favorite in the rope climbing contest.

Here's a tape replay of his activity

'in Jellystone Park, so you can see why.'

Here I am, nimbly climbing one of these sequoia giganteas.

[Snagglepuss] 'Incredible, Yogi.'

'How'd you know to begin trainin' way back then?'

Trainin'?

Who said anything about training?

You can relax with a park ranger chasing you.

Get down here, Yogi.

One two, one two--

Thank you, Yogi.

Now off to our next contestant.

The Scooby Doobies' entry, Dynomutt.

Uh, just a minute.

I'm finishing putting my climbing rope in shape

for a record setting effort.

Uh, now who was it you wanted to introduce?

You, but I don't know why, Dog Blunder.

He has a knotty problem there.

And now, our final contestant in this upliftin' event.

We have Dinky Dalton climbing for the Really Rottens.

Hey, you're a little big for rope climbing.

Heck no, Moldy.

With this old Rotten mountain rope ladder

I'm gonna be on the top in no time.

Too bad it's so frayed.

Afraid?

Ain't no Dalton ever been afraid.

Now git. I got practicing to do.

thud

ha ha ha

I don't think he knows which way is up.

[fanfare music]

[male narrator] The Great Magic Rope Climbing Contest

is about to begin.

Remember, Dog Wonder, it takes brains as well as brawn.

Now use your head and go.

Got you, BF.

Hold it! Stop! Wait a minute!

What's the matter?

You've got to use your arms and legs to climb a rope.

Well, make up your mind, BF. You told me to use my head.

[male narrator] Meanwhile, Dinky Dalton is making slow

but steady progress.

Who said I'm slow?

I know my ropes.

[male narrator] A startling development.

Dinky Dalton has started rising as if by magic.

Magic?

Ha ha, of course, it's magic.

That is as long as no one sees the piano wire.

[snickering]

[male narrator] For the Yogi Yahooeys Yogi Bear seems

to be lifting himself nicely up his rope.

It seems to me that he ought to be slowed down.

That is right, brother.

Hey!

Yahoo!

Wind him up.

[creaking]

Yeah, this rope is running away.

Just wait till I turn loose of this rope.

twing twing twing

Yaaai!

I like going for a spin, but this too much.

[male narrator] Dynomutt looks like he's out in front and climbing hard

to put the Scoobys in the lead.

But hold everything, he's climbing with one foot

on the ground.

Snap to it, Dog Wonder.

I'll give myself a leg up.

[Snagglepuss] 'Look at him go.'

What a finish!

For all of them the way it looks.

'Dinky Dalton's climbing fast.'

thud

Did I win?

'Yeoww!'

crash

[male narrator] And Dynomutt wins the magic rope climbing contest

for the Scoobys.

Dynomutt, Dog Wonderful.

[laughs]

That's me.

[cheering]

Hey, BF, ol' buddy.

You're a big help, I gotta hand it you.

Under that plastic skin beats the transistor

of a champion.

I resemble that. He he ha ha

I can't stand hero worshippers.

'Anyway, Yogi captures second place for his own team.'

[Snagglepuss] 'And for leaving the scene of the climb, Dinky Dalton'

'winds up in third place.'

[booing]

What happened?

[male narrator] Here are the final scores for the day.

The Scoobys are the big winners with 65 total points.

[cheering]

The Yogis with 15 for second, and the Rottens

with the third place ten end up in a tie

total of 55 points each for the meet.

So we say goodbye to ancient and mysterious Baghdad

and its market place.

Don't forget to join us again next week
