bird it was a beautiful day

grouch and patch were waiting for connie

before they had a picnic breakfast oh

why can't connie hurry up i don't like

waiting

just at that moment connie appeared

looking very happy

hello you two sorry i'm late we were

waiting for

you i was getting impatient

lovely red apples my favorite food

hooray

just then connie noticed a ball on the

grass nearby look everybody it's a ball

why don't we play with it before

breakfast patch that's a brilliant idea

and so our friends forgot all about

their apples and started to play but

connie hit the ball so hard that it

nearly bounced onto an

at bounced down the hill and fell in the

river and the river washed it away

connie and her friends felt rather sad

now they couldn't play anymore sorry

about that

[Music]

the three friends went back to the

blanket to have their breakfast but to

their surprise the apples had

disappeared but don't believe it

somebody's eating our lovely red apples

then connie spotted wally sitting in a

tree

hello wally somebody's eating our apples

do you know who oh yes that somebody was

me those apples were scrumptious i ate

them all and my tummy is so full now i

can't fly

[Music]

what a greedy bird that's nothing to

worry about we'll soon find some more

food connie patch and grouch set out to

look for some

breakfast they didn't know the way very

well so connie decided to make a trail

she carried some dry leaves and one by

one she let them fall to the ground that

way they were sure to be able to find

their way back again

but wally wanted to play too

i want to play i want to play wait for

me wait for me

as he ran long after them wally kept

flapping his wings and conniey's trail

of leaves blew

away after walking for a long time the

three friends came to a great big lake

none of them had ever seen it

before i don't like this place but i'm

very hungry too i think we've gone too

far from our own part of the forest

connie thought patch was right

i think we should start heading back

you're right patch there are no apples

here i think it's time to go home again

but luckily all we have to do is follow

the trail of leaves and it will lead us

back that really was an excellent idea

to make a trail of leaves for us to

follow well done connie

but although connie and her friends

looked everywhere the trail of leaves

was nowhere to be sealed

i'm sure the trail i made started

somewhere near here what are we going to

do now without those leaves we'll never

find our way back this is just our luck

i don't like being lost

hello everybody there you are at last i

found you i've been looking for you like

all over the place do you think i could

come and play with you we'd love you to

come and play but first we have to find

the way home oh dear what's the matter

are you lost yes we are completely lost

connie left a trail of leaves to help us

find our way back when it looks like

someone moved them all oh you think

somebody moved the leaves who'd do a

thing like that i'm sorry everybody i

think it was me i was flapping my wings

as i followed you here and the leaves

all blew away so it's my fault that you

three are lost i wish you'd stayed in

your tree instead of following us here

poor wally was very sorry indeed after

all the trouble i've caused you you

won't want me as a friend anymore will

you you weren't to know those leaves

were so important although you really

shouldn't have eaten those apples but

wally we still want you to be our friend

you really mean that we can still be

friends that's wonderful i'm so happy

wally i know you're a very clever bird

you know your way around this part of

the wood can you guide us home

connie was right wally did know the way

home and he was delighted to be able to

help his friends

[Music]

connie patch and grouch followed wally

through some beautiful

[Music]

landscapes at last wally led connie and

her friends to a part of the woods that

they recognized

home again thank you wally you ate our

apples but you're a good bird really

wally thank you grouch it's a pleasure

to help good friends like you since

everything's worked out for the best why

don't we celebrate with a delicious

picnic well you know how much i like

apples

patch and grouch laughed because wally

was such a greedy

bird that night wally bird dreamt that

he was eating mountains of

apples while grouch dreamt that all the

animals in the forest admired him

and connie slept happily knowing that

she had the best friends in the world
