Since I've been here on Earth, I've learned that there are

a lot of different kinds of families

and that families can change in a lot of different ways.

Our friend Chris's family's about to have

a baby brother or sister.

Chris's friends think it's great,

but he's not so sure.

but then it goes back and you go backward.

My mom taught me how to do that

and my grandma taught her.

I'll bet this jump rope routine has been passed on

from even farther back than that.

Lots of families pass on how to do things

from mother or father to daughter or son.

- I like to spend time with my grandma.

She teaches me how to raise tomatoes and play the piano.

- Mom, guess what?

Chris's mom is going to the hospital to have a baby.

- I know, Chris, that is so exciting.

A new baby.

- Yeah, I guess.

- Is it a baby boy or a baby girl?

- We don't know yet.

- Whoa, you could end up with a baby brother.

- Or a baby sister.

- Yeah.

- And you'll have someone to play with.

Babies are fun.

- They're a lot of responsibility too.

You'll be a big brother.

- Hey guys, what's going on?

- Chris is going to be a big brother.

You don't seem very happy about that, Chris.

The baby's not even here yet

and I'm already tired of hearing about it.

Jealousy is a feeling Earth people feel

when somebody has something that somebody wants

or when someone is not getting enough attention.

You know when I was a kid

we called jealousy the green eyed monster.

The Bible tells us Adam and Eve started

the first family honor.

Their son Cain was the first baby ever born.

Cain had a little brother too.

His name was Able.

- Hey, Chris, I heard there's going

to be someone new at your house.

You're going to be a big brother soon.

That's why Dooley's letter of the day

is F for family.

You're going to have a bigger family.

Having a baby sister or brother can be fun.

- Actually, these puppies are Jack Russell Terriers.

And as you can see, they're still discovering

the world around them.

Now their owners brought them

into my veterinarian office just

so I can make sure that they're growing up right.

- It sure is.

And she takes good care of them as they grow.

She nurses them, protects them, and they even play together.

- I guess babies need a lot of care, right Dad?

Absolutely, Kayla.

Just like your new baby brother or sister will also, Chris.

Babies need bigger kids to help teach them.

- Yeah. Babies get all the attention too.

- Chris is still a little jealous about the new baby.
