Do you know how to fix a robot?

Whoa, something's gone wrong with Marty's eye wiring

and now he can't see!

He's lost his sense of sight.

I've heard that humans have five senses

to help them learn about the world around them.

Do you know what they are?

Oops, oh we better hurry.

Let's go and fix Marty together!

♪ He's come from far beyond the stars ♪

I mean a little wiring problem.

Not being able to use your eyes is hard

but you just found Max, Michael and Kayla with your ears!

- Oh, popping Pluto!

Maybe I mixed up Marty's eye and ear wires.

- No, no, no.

What I mean is Marty used his sense of hearing

instead of his eyes to figure out who was here.

- Oh.

- You knew I wasn't Max when you touched my head.

I'm taller and my hair feels different.

- Marty also used his sense of touch.

Another of the five senses.

- Right, the five senses.

They're: seeing, hearing, touching and oh that's only three.

- One, seeing.

- Two, hearing.

- Three, smelling.

- Four, tasting.

- [Kids] Five, touching!

- Marty, we can help you get around

using your sense of hearing until your eyes are fit.

- Hey Kayla, I knew it was you without even using my eyes.

- Cool. Let's try it.

One, two, three. I'm three steps away, come on over.

- One, two, three, oh I can't find you Kayla!

- Whoa, Oh!

- Dooley, are you okay?

- Yeah.

- You know everyone, sometimes using

two senses at the same time will help.

Anyone have any ideas?

- Follow me, okay Marty?

- You made it Marty!

Using your sense of touch was a good idea, Max.

- Oh, now I understand.

All of our five senses work together.

- Exactly. So we have to take very good care

of our eyes and our ears.

- We should never put anything in our ears, it's dangerous.

- I eat lots of carrots, so my eyes will be healthy.

- Robots don't eat carrots.

Say, maybe that's what's wrong with me.

- Hmm. I don't think so Marty.

Your eyes are different than humans.

Oh, and so are mine.

(laughing)

♪ My ears sometimes they're funny but that's just fine ♪

♪ But that's not all try this on for size ♪

♪ And lets take a closer look at my eyes ♪

♪ A lion's eyes are yellow ♪

♪ An owl can see at night ♪

♪ Some kids see through glasses ♪

♪ A cat's eyes shine so bright ♪

♪ A butterfly's eyes are always open ♪

♪ My eyes squint in the Sun ♪

♪ Plenty of eyes to go around ♪

♪ but we each have our own special ones ♪

♪ My eyes these things taking up space ♪

♪ My eyes right smack dab on the front of my face ♪

♪ My eyes sometimes they're funny but that's just fine ♪

♪ Cause the best thing about my eyes is ♪

♪ Yes the best thing about my ears is ♪

♪ Oh the best thing about my face is both ♪

♪ My eyes my ears my ears my eyes ♪

♪ My eyes my ears my eyes and ears ♪

- Hey Zoom, knock knock.

I don't have time for jokes, look what's here.

- So?

- So! I don't know what it is.

It just showed up.

- Well, that doesn't make any sense.

- Sense, ha, that's it!

We use our senses to figure out what it is!

- Oh! A sensible game!

Get it? Sense? Sensible?

What are the senses again?

- Well, there are three of them.

- Oh no, no, no.

Four. There are four senses.

Hm. Oh, maybe five?

- If only we had the sense to remember what the senses are!

- Howdy Dooley do, everybody!

- [Everybody] Hey, Mrs. Z!

- Mm, something smells wonderful!

- Rockin' rockets Marty!

You're using your sense of smell!

That's one of your five senses.

- Well, I'm wearing some new perfume today.

You have a great sense of smell, Marty.

- I've been using my other senses

since I lost the use of my sight.

- Oh, I see.

Well, I hope you get that fixed soon.

- Whoa. We're truly Dooley working on that Mrs. Z.

- Mm, that does smell good Mrs. Z.

Achoo!

(laughing)

- I think perfume makes noses itchy.

My dad says noses are very sensitive.

- Sensitive, what a great word.

And it begins with our letter of the day!

S for smell.

- And S is for strong.

- S is for sense.

- Woo, and S is for strong sense of smell.

- Noses are fun.

This one feels round and bumpy.

- No Marty, these are all animals Dr. Arvid brought over.

This one is long and it feels cool and smooth.

I bet it's a snake.

- Oh, a real snake?! I wanna see, I wanna see!

Oh, fizzle blat, I forgot.

I can't see.

- Oh, leapin' light years, neither can we.

- Okay. You guys, you can all take your blindfolds off now.

- Wait, you're not a bunny.

You're a guinea pig!

- Now see, you were supposed to be using

your sense of touch and not your eyes.

- Using your other senses can be fun

but sometimes it can be hard when you can't use your eyes.

- Don't I know it.

- Marty, this is Twinkle.

She's a tortoise.

She likes when you pet her.

- Yes. Yes she does.

I can feel it!

Oh Dr. Arvid, I'm so glad you came over!

Ooh, what kind of snake is this?

- Well, actually, Marty, this is a Python.

And you know snakes flick out their tongue

and this tells them a lot about the world around them.

- Wow. Touching, tasting, smelling, hearing, seeing.

Woo hoo, we're so lucky to have five senses.

- Oh, I've only got door fences, I mean four senses.

It was fun feeling the smooth snake

and listening to my friend's pet the guinea pig.

But oh, when will I be able to see again?

- Oh, poor Marty.

I've got to find a way to fix him.

He's using his other senses

but he truly Dooley wants to have his eyesight back.

Oh, I have to fix him.

- I remember one of the senses, Zoom.

Seeing. It looks like a tortoise.

Yeah. It's brown and sort of round.

Maybe it has it's head tucked in.

- Cosmos.

- Yes? - It's a bag.

A paper bag!

- Well, if you knew what it was, why did you ask me?

- Because I don't know what's in the bag, Cosmos!

- Oh, right, right, right.

Oh, by the way, did you hear about the flying tortoise?

It called itself a shell-icopter!

(laughing)

- Sh! I remembered one of the senses!

It's listening.

- I hear something.

- What, what, what!

- My stomach's grumbling, I'm hungry!

- Oh, Cosmos. You're a big help!

- We all have five senses.

Taste, smell, touch, hearing and sight.

- Ants use their antennas for all five senses.

- Dolphins use their ears to see.

- Birds use their tongue to feel.

(horn honking)

(horn music)

- Mm, this is sweet. It's chocolate!

- Ooh, sour lemon.

- Ooh, that even sounded sour.

- Salty, it's a potato chip.

- Oh wow. This is a bit spicy.

- Well, gravity gravy.

I'm learning about another of the five senses.

- That's right Dooley.

You see the taste buds on our tongues

tell us things we can't see with our eyes.

How things taste.

- Ooh, cocoa powder.

This is the stuff that chocolate's made out of.

- Well, yes, Michael, but cocoa powder

isn't sweetened like chocolate, so it's really very

- [Kids] Bitter.

- There's so many tastes here on Earth.

Sweet, salty, sour, bitter and spicy!

- Mars stars! We're learning a lot

about the five senses today.

Oh, but, I still have to fix your eyes Marty.

- Hmm. You know, our five senses are all connected,

that means joined together.

Does anyone know where?

- I do. In your brain.

- Hmm. Connected to your brain.

Hmm. Oh, that's it!

Marty, let me see your control panel again!

- What Dooley, what?

- Yep! I really needed to use my brain

to figure this one out.

Marty's eye wires are just fine.

But, the switch connecting Marty's eyes to his brain

were turned off.

There.

- Oh, I can see, I can see!

- [Everybody] Yay!

- Marty, we love you.

- Yeah.

- You're the best.

- I'm glad you can see again.

- Oh, being without sight made me realize how

important my five senses are, but most of all,

how good it is to see my friends.

- Aw.

♪ For keeping your eye on those one two or three ♪

♪ It also makes games like peek-a-boo fun ♪

♪ Were the five senses and sight's the first one ♪

♪ For sense of hearing please lend me your ear ♪

♪ Think of the many sounds so special to you ♪

♪ We're the five senses and that's number two ♪

♪ The sense of touch tells you sharp or smooth ♪

♪ Or warm and furry or cold brr ♪

♪ Such a handy sense to have around ♪

♪ When there's something you're trying to hold ♪

♪ Your sense of taste is what makes you say yum ♪

♪ Each time your favorite food lands on your tongue ♪

♪ It makes dessert time mean so much more ♪

♪ We're the five senses and that's number four ♪

♪ Your sense of smell begins at your nose ♪

♪ With just one sniff you know a rose is a rose ♪

♪ Its like tasting flavors in the air ♪

♪ We're the five senses we make you aware ♪

Oh, I put it there this morning!

- Lunch? Why didn't you tell me?

- Well, I thought you wanted to play a game

with the five senses.

- Oh, Cosmos! But you know what my favorite sense is?

- Hmm?

- Taste!

Ever since my ship landed here on Earth,

I've learned lots about your planet.

Marty was having trouble with his eyes today.

So we all learned about the five senses.

- One, seeing.

- Two, hearing.

- Three, smelling.

- Four, tasting.

- [Kids] Five touching!

- [Dooley] Max and Kayla were able to help Marty

to hear and feel his way around the space ship

without using his eyes!
