connie learns about shapes

it was a lovely moment

connie was up nice and early to go and

play with her friends in the woods

so everybody's here why don't we play a

game

oh hooray i love playing games

yes games are great but what are we

gonna play hey

suddenly they saw something moving

underneath the ground

hello there everybody what are you doing

why aren't you playing

we are going to play a game but we

haven't thought of one yet todd

i know a game that you can play i'm sure

you'll like it it's lots of fun it's a

special kind of puzzle called look for

the shapes

the moon

made they were all different

one was square

one was rectangular

one was triangular

and the last one was round

and what are we supposed to do with

these funny holes todd

they're all part of the game you have to

try and find something that's the right

size and shape to fit into each hole

connie and her friends thought that was

a splendid idea

they hurried off into the woods to look

for objects that might fit into the

holes

look what i found

it's a little box and it's square

they all congratulated wally on his find

and they took the box back to where todd

was waiting

he was very impressed that they had

found the first object so quickly

but would it fit into the hole

yes it did

the box fitted the square hole perfectly

next we need something rectangular

that's going to be harder to find

everyone was really enjoying themselves

to a broken down old hut grouch found a

rectangular piece of wood on the ground

how lucky he thought

look connie look what branches

that piece of wood is rectangular and it

looks like it's just the right size

she was right it fitted perfectly into

the rectangular hole

the five friends were very pleased

i think this is fantastic

learning about all these different

shapes is so much fun

well done your next challenge is to find

something triangular

connie and her friends searched but they

couldn't find anything that was the

right shape

i've got it i've got it i can see a

triangle up there

when they looked where wally was

pointing the friends saw that the

triangle was a great big mountain

hey should we go and get it then

we can't go and get that triangle wally

it's a mountain and it's much so big and

heavy

just then wally saw a triangular rock

you think this rock will do

it's perfect well done wally

they hurried back and found that the

rock fitted perfectly into the

triangular hole

congratulations you're very good at this

game

connie and her friends were having a

wonderful time

they only needed one more thing to

complete the puzzle

something round

had wally found it

look connie this is round you think

it'll fit in the hole you're right wally

it is round but i think it's too small

connie and her friends kept on looking

but they couldn't seem to find anything

round

nearby hedgie the hedgehog was strolling

along

the four friends were pleased to see him

hello edgy we're looking for something

round have you seen anything like that

no i haven't

oh but look hedges around isn't he he's

like a ball

hedgie had no idea what they were

talking about

connie told hedgie all about the game

and he said that he was very happy to be

their round object and with a hop he

jumped into the hole

all right you did it very good well done

thanks for helping us finish the game

yes i had a great time do you think we

can play it again tomorrow i didn't

think i'd like it but we had fun

learning about those shapes in the end

shapes are funny i didn't realize when i

was round

that night connie thought about all the

different shapes she had seen that day

what a lot you can learn when you're

playing with your friends
