singing everything's easier when you

hey Mr spider do you mind being quiet

don't you realize you're out of tune and

what's more if you're singing nobody can

hear my wonderful voice oh bonnie

thought that the bird was very vain

don't pay any attention to him Spike

your singing's fine but I'm the best

singer for Miles around if there was a

musical contest I would be sure to win

that's a great idea let's have a contest

i'm going to find some more singers to

make the contest more

exciting spike was a little bit worried

oh dear i don't think I can sing as well

as that bird Connie well you never know

you can always have a try

meanwhile the vain bird flew to the farm

listen everyone there's a singing

contest tonight he told everybody that

there would be a musical contest that

night

and that they were all welcome to take

part hey a singing contest

that stayed behind to help Spike she was

listening to him practice his singing

i have to admit it that bird does sing

better than me come on Spike you don't

necessarily have to sing you could play

a musical instrument instead couldn't

you

an instrument but what could I play

connie went into the reed there and very

cleverly she made Spike a flute out of a

reed

it's easy go on have a go i'm sure you

can do it too

connie I can't play the flute but

there's another instrument I can play

when night fell all the friends gathered

together at the farm to see who would

win the musical

contest but first to perform was a

sheep next upstepped the hen with her

chicks

this is lots of fun they're all very

good singers

and after Dodger the Cat it was

Conniey's turn

next it was the vain bird's turn to

[Music]

the bird sang better than ever he was

sure he would win the competition

that wasn't bad but I think that Spike

will win the contest win i bet he's so

scared of losing he won't even dare to

turn up

who can that be where's that music

coming from

they were all thrilled by the music it

was the most beautiful tune they had

ever heard

what a wonderful melody it makes me feel

so happy

i wonder who's playing that lovely song

then to their astonishment they saw it

was Spike the Spider

isn't Spike clever he used the threads

of his spider's web to make himself a

harp everybody agreed that Spike was the

winner of the

contest the vain bird had to admit that

Spike was the best musician

mr spider I feel so silly for making fun

of you please say you'll forgive me your

music is much better than my voice

really it is spike was a very

good-hearted spider and not only did he

forgive the vain bird but he suggested

that they play a duet

everybody was very happy they knew the

beautiful music would live in their

hearts forever and ever

that night as Connie went to sleep she

thought how silly it was to be vain

everybody's good at something but

there's no need to show off sweet dreams
