this desk makes a great spot for

permanent markers

who cares if it's ruined

huh

come back plane i'm gonna get you

i can't help the feeling that all this

waste just isn't right

the children are being awfully wasteful

they don't appreciate what they have

if everyone goes on being wasteful like

that eventually things will get very bad

the trees will lose their leaves and the

forests will die

and the earth will turn into a great big

desert because we'll have no protection

from the sun

should we teach them a lesson

that's a great idea

hey melody sure is hot today wouldn't

you say it sure is i have to fan myself

to keep cool

bet you can't catch me today oh boy it's

something else is missing too like the

trees and bushes

i wonder what happened

where have all the trees gone

hello mother i'm home from school i'm

awfully hungry may i have lunch now

lunch

that's a funny word kitty where did you

hear that

you know lunch it's the meal we eat in

the middle of the day

that's a funny joke kitty you know we

only eat once a day breakfast in the

morning

there isn't nearly enough food in the

world to have more than one meal a day

lunch

i'll have to remember that one

i'm so hungry oh well i guess i'll do

some homework

where is everything

there everyone is i wonder what they're

all looking at

oh this is bad pachaco what happened

we don't know

take a look for yourself

what's going on

what could have happened

all the trees are gone the pond is empty

everything is dry and dusty

not only that but my room was empty

my room was empty too i wanted to draw

something and i asked my mom for some

paper she looked at me funny and said i

was making up words then she told me to

draw pictures in the sand

well daniel you always know everything

can you tell us what's happening

well

i think the planet is running out of

natural resources

now you're making up words what are

resources

good question

natural resources are things like trees

land and water we use trees to make

paper but we've been making too many

flyers not recycling paper bags and some

even waste paper making paper airplanes

[Music]

oops

you see the more paper we use the more

trees we have to cut down to make that

paper

soon there won't be any trees to cut

down or to provide any shade the ground

will dry out that's awful

with dry ground there will be no grass

for animals to eat and they won't

survive without those animals we'll also

have less food to eat and all will be

left hungry

we also waste a lot of food by not

finishing what we have and throwing away

the leftovers the more food we waste the

greater strain we place on our

environment if we continue to be so

wasteful someday we may not have an

environment to save huh

hey look it's the little twin stars

hello everyone you all seem upset is

something wrong

we've been wasteful and now we don't

have any more trees

we cut them down so basmarian could make

paper airplanes you can't blame this all

on me i'm not the only one who's been

wasteful here what about you pachaco

i don't think i've been wasteful i just

like drawing

yeah you like drawing on your desk with

markers that's wasteful

now don't blame each other everyone is

responsible for the planet

you must all learn to take care of the

environment before it's too late it's

the only one we have oh so that's why

there was no food on the table and

remember there are no trees anymore

i'm sure we can all learn to be less

wasteful if we do is it possible to save

our environment

i'll promise to finish my snacks in

school no more leftovers

me too i promise to eat every last bite

yeah i can help too i guess i can make

do with just one paper airplane instead

of ten and i'll stop drawing on my desk

that's the spirit if everyone does their

part everyone benefit we can all learn

to reduce reuse and recycle

we think you've learned your lesson
