it's kind of like our whole season,
we've taken a beating,

but we're still here.

Narrator: Running on only fumes and gads,

the last nine weeks of metal anguish...

This is enough.

Narrator: it testet the fleets,
like never before.

And now, the men can no longer hide the pain
on their faces.

We've just need to get this last leak down
and that is

get through this gear,
get the crab we need,

get the gear on the boats safelly,

and get the boat to town.

We had as lot of stuff in our head.

You know,
there is still a lot of body issues,

swimming aroung here.

We're out of here.

Then go start finishing up
what Phil started.

Last time I was here,
we were wheeling the old man out of here.

This is weird.

Everybody is tired and just beat.
We're looking at two months.

It's a lot of work.

Narrator: While their hearts may be at home,

each group faces one last triumph

before the skippers head to port,
for the final offloads.

I'm a little nervous

because we really need those tanks
topped off.

We may have to send

Never until you actually
get that fish ticket signed.

Finished up our trip,

Narrator: As the fleets anchors down
for the final push,

Can't seem to wake up
from this nightmare.

Narrator: Kodiak skipper Bill Wikrowsky,
is risking everything,

to try to secure his comeback.

We're going set this stuff in the water

even we know we got floes
on all three sides of it's.

Narrator: If Bill's move fails,

the ice could swallow
over $30,000 worth of gear.

This really isn't my game.

But it's the game we're playing now.

That thing is huge.

Under the ice, there's thousands
and thousands of opies.

What we're going to do
is take the diver out

and but the trailer where the diver is.

We've got a diver
and a trailer line,

with a none on the end,
so when you throw the hook, it gets caught.

You got to have some
identification on the diver

when they get moved,
I've got to be able to mark them off

that we picked them up.

Narrator: In a normal two bag setup,

there's one diver buoy and one trailer buoy
to make locating and hauling the pots easier.

Removing the diver and
repositioning the trailer lower on the line

will, in theory,
allow the trailer to ride just below the ice

and not be dragged off by it.

Narrator: While Scotty keeps a close watch

Narrator: As Sig nudges towards

Narrator:... catches
the skipper's eye.

Looks like Andy finally decided
to shift gears with his attitude.

Narrator: Edgar takes a step back,

and watches the deck
run like clock work.

I guess I am a little surprised.

As far as Edgar, since he is the youngest,

he probably was treated more as the youngest.

By the time he got up here,

then I was already in transition,
up in the wheelhouse.

And on deck.

And back and forth
as a relief Captain.

And so, Edgar was working more
with and for me,

when he first got in the picture.

So, his learning curve came from
the mentality that was forced on him.

reality it starts setting in.

it finally dawns on Sig.

Bill risked his gear, his season

I could not think of a scenario worse than what we've
gone through in the last four or five days here.

This is why we moved over here.
This area was open and clear.

We got here, and it was covered up.

I wish I could pull a rabbit
out of my hat on this one.

That's what we have.

Narrator:Bill nudges up
to the first of 30 pots.

Hopefully, we can

Narrator: But with the ice pack
rapidly approaching to his gear,

he'll have to move quickly.

takes to make this trip work.
