with lots of surprises like this one

transform my assistant wizzy into

something completely different

where everything went horribly wrong

yeah i guess you can't really change

into something else well that's not

necessarily true

some creatures can change from top to

bottom it's called metamorphosis

what's that

let's check the multopedia

all animals and plants go through

predictable changes during their lives

that means the changes usually happen

the same way every time

some plants sprout and grow from a seed

into a fully grown adult plant

then the adult plant produces seeds and

the process starts all over again

it's called a life cycle

insects go through life cycles too and

some insects change a lot during their

life cycles it's called metamorphosis

there are two different kinds of

metamorphosis and insects complete and

incomplete insects whose looks change

completely go through complete

metamorphosis it happens in four

predictable stages like with this

silkworm moth

it starts as an egg then the egg hatches

and out comes a larva

a worm-like creature that spends most of

its time eating and growing

then comes the pupa stage when it makes

itself a case called a cocoon

it rests in the cocoon while its body

goes through its greatest change and

finally it breaks out of the cocoon as

an adult a silkworm moth

then the moth lays eggs and the process

starts all over again

some other insects go through a more

gradual change in how they look we call

this incomplete metamorphosis there are

only three stages during incomplete

metamorphosis like the cicada

which goes from egg

to nymph which is a young cicada without

wings

to adult

complete with wings

the adult lays eggs and the cycle starts

over

so i guess you could say that nature

does stuff that's even better than magic

tricks

that's the cocoon the kind of pupa case

a moth comes out of careful not to touch

a butterfly

wrigley wasn't in disguise and she

wasn't a worm she was a caterpillar

which is just a baby butterfly a lava of

course a caterpillar sure now i see it

wrigley was just going through her life

cycle going from eggs to lava that's the

caterpillar stage where she spent most

of her time eating and growing

then to pupa where she rested inside a

chrysalis and did most of her changing

then she finally came out as the

butterfly

and that's called complete metamorphosis

later she'll lay eggs

and the whole cycle will begin again

i could cry and have lots of better

friends as you can see

inside a chrysalis a metamorphosis

and then we learn to use our brand new

their parents like rabbits and puppies

baby animals that don't look anything

yeah butterflies start out as

caterpillars just like frogs start out

as tadpoles a tadpole has the tail and

gills like a fish

gills help it to breathe underwater a

frog has legs but no tail and has lungs

to help it breathe out of the water

these caterpillars will look more like

their parents once they go through a big

change called metamorphosis

for frogs this metamorphosis can take

just a few weeks or for some kinds of

frogs even longer

i wonder what happens during

metamorphosis yeah how does a tadpole

change into a frog

let's see if we can figure it out

nothing's happening

but moto said it can take a while i know

maybe there's a store where tadpoles go

to trading their tails for legs

find them by now many of the eggs have

hatched and some of the tadpoles have

probably started to change

few frog eggs but all you've given me

are fishes fishes

these eggs were squishy now hatching

into fishies why must i do everything

jumpy things that live in bugs oh why

found a single frog egg anywhere on zula

now i can pass this on to the festival's

without baby frogs there's not going to

be a frog festival i keep thinking that

something wasn't quite right at

delirious the other day well we didn't

see any frog eggs or tadpoles we didn't

either all we saw was some strange

looking animal but it had too many legs

for a tadpole and not enough for a frog

hey maybe tadpoles don't change into

frogs all at once maybe it happens in

stages what if the animal we saw was a

tadpole that had grown behind legs then

maybe there's another stage where the

tail gets even shorter and the front

legs grow and as it gets bigger its tail

disappears

bingo a frog excellent deduction my dear

wizzy and wig you're right the egg

hatches a tadpole which in time sprouts

hind legs then front legs as its tail

shortens meanwhile changes are happening

inside its body

lungs develop so we can breathe air then

it crawls out of the water to become a

young froglet as the frogmen grows its

tail gets shorter until it disappears

and the froglet becomes an adult frog

some of them return to the water to lay

eggs and the whole cycle begins again

all right nailed it

that means there are frogs at delirious

place
