according to the instructions they're

that'll take forever

mixture quick magnets only work with

magnetic metals like iron kipple seeds

dunes and a big rolling ball

called when you combine two or more

substances but the substances are still

can tell something is a mixture is that

you can separate it back into its

original part

for instance if you combine lettuce

you have a yummy mixture called a salad

but if you take it apart you've got

there are different ways to separate a

a solution is a special kind of mixture

that happens when one or more materials

dissolve or blend into another like the

powder of our drink dissolved into the

water exactly

the powder is the solute which means

it's the substance that gets dissolved

and the substance that does the

dissolving is called the solvent or to

put it another way the solvent dissolves

the salute to make a solution

it's a tongue twister

but not all solutions are liquids and

not everything that mixes together is a

solution some are just ordinary mixtures

if you mix sand and water no matter how

much you stir the sand does not dissolve

and become part of the water

that's because the smallest bits of sand

called molecules are not attracted to

the water molecules so they don't stick

to each other

to separate them all you have to do is

pour them through a filter

the sand stays in the filter but the

water drips through into the glass

but if you mix salt and water the salt

molecules are attracted to the water

molecules so they do stick to each other

and the salt molecules get evenly

dispersed through the water

so when you pour this salty water

through a filter the salt and water do

not separate and you still have a glass

of salty water wow nothing stayed in the

filter it all drained through that's

because the salt has dissolved in the

water it's a solution

what happened to my drink the water's

gone but the berry powder is there how'd

that happen he got separated

but how can the stuff in a solution get

separated
