01x04 - Race Ya!/Larry the Substitute

Post by bunniefuu »

[Music]

I'm going to win. No, I'm going to win.

No, I'm going to win. No, I'm going to

win.

I win. You got lucky.

All right, who's ready for a snowtastic

vacation at Mount Snow Peak?

Me, me, me.

Let's hit the road.

Thanks for taking me and Junior to Mount

Snow Peak, Mr. Asparagus. You're

welcome, Laura. Now, buckle up because

away we go.

Flip slide and we'll go over the snow

aboard our friends.

[Music]

We won't have a care cuz helmets we'll

wear to keep us from bumping our noggin.

A snowman will make a nice we will skate

around up on fire. We'll be sitting.

We're going to be snug. There's a bug in

a rug in our

ears and mittens.

Our coats, our

warm. So we're

fresh and veggies. Oh snow, snow. It

glitters in a blanket of soft sensation.

Snow, snow, snowballs will grow on our

wonderful winter

vacation. Oh,

snow

snow. Let's go. I'm a better singer.

Uh-uh. My singing is best. Only if it's

opposite day. If it's opposite day, my

singing is the worst. Junior Laura, stop

arguing. You have to learn to play nice.

You'll have a lot more fun that way,

especially on vacation. You understand?

Oh, dear. Sorry. Sorry, Laura. Now,

where were we in the song? Yes. I'll

keep warm even if there's a storm on our

wonderful winter vacation.

The song is over. Yeah, we finished.

[Music]

Oh, yay.

Welcome to Mount Snow Peak. So, what are

you kids going to do first? Make a

snowman. Go ice skating. Get snow on my

tongue. Well, whatever it is you do,

just remember we'll have more fun if we

play nice.

[Music]

Wait, how'd that happen? He's just got a

big head is off. Well, what should we do

next?

Ice skating. Yes. Race you there.

Beat you. Yeah. Yeah. You're faster than

me. But you think you're a better ice

skater. Did I just hear a challenge?

Larry thought we were going to the

Olympics. Well, you're about to see some

Olympic level ice skating. Laura Carrot

has waited her whole life for this

moment. Now out on the ice, we see years

of training released in one magnificent

moment. Who are you talking to?

You beat that.

Junior Asparagus has waited his whole

life for this moment. That's what you

said about Laura.

Can you even believe it?

[Music]

Laura, you were pretty good, but then

Junior got out there and Wow. Yeah.

Yeah. He's a better skater. Wait, is

there not going to be another event?

There's other stuff we want to do. I

have medals for the winners. Let's do

this.

[Music]

Metal.

[Music]

Metal.

[Music]

Metal. Metal. Metal. Yay.

That's my last medal. Ha. Looks like I

won. One more game. Something huge.

Winner takes all. Sure. What's it going

to be?

How about a downhill ski race from the

top of Mount Snow

Peak? Ski race. And I have the perfect

winner takes all medal. Bob, will you do

the honors?

That's one big medal.

Fine. A ski race it is. No problem.

Good. Let's go right now. Uh um how

about at sunrise? Why? Cuz it'll look

cool and be

dramatic and give me time to train. What

was that? Um I said I said rain. There's

not enough um um frozen rain on the

hill. Frozen rain is what I call snow.

There's not enough of it. But but there

will be in the morning.

So, I guess I'll see you then. I guess

[Music]

so. Okay, I can do this. Just start nice

and easy.

[Music]

This isn't so bad. This isn't bad at

all.

I'm doomed.

[Music]

Hey, Miss Carrot, is this a new version

of skiing the kids do these days?

Falling immediately to the ground? No,

I'm just not very good. H Well, I'm a

lifelong ski instructor with an

uncountable number of successful

students. I wish there were a way I

could help. Could you train me? Of

course. What a delightful and obvious

solution. I'd be happy to.

[Music]

Yeah. Before we begin, do you have any

questions? How can we skate with one

skate or ski with two skis? That is one

of life's great mysteries. Like, what is

the sound of one hand clapping? Oh, I

know what no hands clapping sounds like.

Very good. Anyway, why don't you show me

what you already know? I know how to

make a V with my skis.

Oh, but there's so much more. You need

to shift your weight from ski to ski as

you slom, keeping your weight on the

downhill

ski. And let's start with the

V. Very good. Now we

ski. Laura,

how am I doing?

Let's try this. Make your skis perfectly

straight. Then once you're moving, you

will return to

What do I do? What do I do? Make a be.

Make a be.

[Music]

New approach. Turn and turn and turn.

Okay. Turn and turn and turn and turn

and turn. Turn and turn and turn. I

think I got it.

I did it. Well done, Miss Carrot. Now

I'll show Junior who's the best. Well,

what do you mean? I got to be Junior to

show him who's the best. Me. I must say,

Laura, healthy competition is fine, but

as it says in Second Timothy, you should

have nothing to do with foolish

arguments because those kinds of

arguments might hurt our friends. Oh,

but I'm so close. Just don't lose sight

of what's important.

Ready to race? You bet I am. We're here.

I brought

spectators. Bob, where's that metal?

Let's do this.

See you at the bottom. I'll be waiting.

Junior and Laura have been waiting their

entire lives for this moment.

Ready, set, go. And turn and turn and

turn.

And turn and turn and turn and turn and

turn and

[Music]

turn. Wow.

[Music]

[Applause]

I can't believe it. I'm going to win.

Someone help. Junior Laura.

[Music]

Hold on.

[Applause]

Gotcha.

Wait, who won? Neither of us won. Laura

won. Or she would have if she hadn't

stopped to help me. Thanks for saving

me. I'm glad you're safe. You know,

you're a really good skier. You're not

so bad yourself. I had a good coach.

Okay, that's it. Hey. Hey kids, did you

have a fun time at Mount Snow Peak?

Yeah, it was great. Good. Let's go

home. So, were you guys able to play

nice?

Yep. After we learned not to start

arguments over little things. Yeah. Then

it was no problem. Great. That means

more time for singing. I'll be bold and

say snow is cold. And though it may be

freezing, I won't fret. I might even

sweat in the sleeping bag where I am

[Music]

sleeping.

Ouch.

Bob, guess what? Larry, don't forget

that you're substitute teaching for me

today. You promised. Oh, I remember. You

sprained your ankle, so I'm teaching

your music class. But guess what? And

what will you be teaching in music

class? I have to get Junior, Laura

Carrot, Gary Garlic, and Califlower

ready for the big quartet show tonight.

All their parents are coming. They have

to sound great. Exactly. Now, guess what

I'm corn dog about? I mean corn dog.

What I'm thinking about? I mean corn

dog. Corn dog. Corn dog. Do you want me

to guess what you're thinking about?

Corn dog. Is it corn dogs? Not just corn

dogs. The corn dog festival is today.

I'm going. But my class, you promised.

But Bob, it's corn dogs. Corn

[Music]

dogs. I want a corn

dog. I want a corn

[Music]

dog. Is the world ready for a corn dog

eating veggie? Want a corn dog?

I made a corn

[Music]

dog. I eat all of it. I think it is a

hit. It is my fade. That's why I crave a

hot dog on a stick in mustard. I will

soak it. Crunchy little coat. Lunch and

dinner. What a

winner. This corn dog gets my vote. I

want a corn

dog. I want a corn dog.

Is the world ready for a corn dog eating

veggie? Want a corn

dog? I need a corn dog. Yeah,

Larry. Yes, Bob. Please don't let the

corn dog festival distract you. You made

a promise and the Bible says let your

yes be yes and your no be no. Come

again. It means if you say you're going

to do something, you need to do it. Oh,

okay. I won't let any corn dogs distract

me, Bob. And you'll use the sheep music

to teach the music class. But of course.

Well, bye, Bob. H. I know. I know. I'm

worried about him, too.

Good morning, Larry. I'm just setting up

for the big concert. Will the students

be ready? I'm going to get them in top

performing condition by tonight. Just

don't get distracted on your way to

class. You're distracting me now. I got

a promise to keep.

Hey, Larry. I got tickets to the corn

dog festival. No. No. it. Go.

[Music]

Yeah. Good morning, class. Sorry I'm

late. Good morning, Mr. Larry. As some

of you may know, Bob sprained his ankle.

So, I'm your substitute teacher,

but we're supposed to put on a quartet

for our parents tonight. Yeah, Bob was

supposed to help us prepare for the big

show. Let me hear how you sound. Ready,

set, go.

Not bad. This is going to be easier than

I thought.

When is lunch? Lunch isn't until 12:00.

Yep. And we're having awesome corn dogs

on the playground. I love corn dogs.

Corn dogs? We're having corn dogs for

lunch. How am I supposed to concentrate

that long with corn dogs on my mind?

Well, I managed to do it every hour of

every day. Are we going to play some

music? Oh, yeah. Uh, we're going to

practice extra fast so we can go to

lunch early and get those corn dogs.

Pick up your instruments, please. Ready,

set,

go. Faster,

faster, faster, faster, faster.

Be careful, Derry. It wouldn't want to

spill a single corn dog. Corn

dog.

Poor dog. Larry,

we're done. Let's play.

[Music]

All right, lunch time.

The kids are going to love these corn

dogs, Jerry. Kids just love corn dogs.

Hungry? Want one? Me, too, brother. Just

help me with this one last tray.

[Applause]

[Music]

I've been waiting all day for this.

It's corn dog time.

[Music]

Okay, class. Now that the corn dogs are

gone, we better get practicing. We don't

want to. Yeah, while you were dreaming

about corn dogs, we had way more fun not

practicing.

Oh no, what did I do? Bacon Bill,

I need Bob. I lost control of the kids.

I need Bob right now.

You can count on me. Bacon on a mission.

Don't worry, little sock. Once my

sprained ankle heals, I'll be able to

wear you again. Don't you love me, Bob?

Bob. Bob, you got to do something about

Larry. He's a terrible substitute

teacher. What happened? It's the kids.

They won't practice. But I can't get to

class. I have a sprained ankle.

I'll carry you, brother. Are you sure?

It's a long way to school. We got to do

it. We got to do it for the kids.

Put that down. Come back here.

[Music]

Larry.

Bob. Bacon. Bill says you lost control

of the class. I broke my promise, Bob. I

let corn dogs distract me and now the

kids are like this.

When I get these kids under control,

will you help them practice?

Yes, I will. My yes will be yes.

Line up if you want a sticker.

Kids love stickers, Larry.

Huh?

Huh? They're all yours. Thanks, Bob.

I'll see you tonight. Hi-h*, Bill.

away. Ow!

[Music]

Class, I'm sorry for being distracted by

corn dogs today. I let you down.

Everyone makes mistakes. We're sorry,

too. But I said I'm going to teach you,

so that's what I'm going to do. Are you

with me? We're with you, Mr. Larry.

Okay. Make sure you read your music.

Hey, look. These black dots tell us

exactly what to play. Exactly. Next,

treat your instruments with great care.

Don't pretend like they're laser

blasters.

[Music]

Sorry. Got it. And finally, practice,

practice, practice. And a one. And a

two. And a one. And a two. And a three.

And a four.

[Applause]

This is working.

Oh no. What do I do?

That asparagus boy is my grandson. Oh,

Junior, make Granny

proud. Oh

no, my hands won't stop shaking. Where's

my music? I can't say my music. Gary,

your eyes are closed. Oh, there's my

music. Just remember what Mr. Larry told

us to do. He is our conductor. He won't

let us down. Stop the show. Hold on.

Make way. We have one heavy tomato

coming through.

[Music]

Where's

Larry? The last time I saw him was when

I gave him a ticket to the corn dog

festival. What? Oh no. What if he

doesn't show up?

[Music]

You see Bob, my yes means yes.

[Music]

[Applause]

You did it, Larry. Thanks for keeping

your promise.

Larry. Larry. Larry. Hey, Larry. I

brought you something special.

[Music]
