KATHRYN EISMAN:
We are what we wear.
Or is it that
we wear what we are?
I'm Kathryn Eisman,
and ever since
I was a young girl,
I've had this ability to
read a person's true character
just by looking at
the clothes they're wearing.
You want to be an adventurer,
and yet you dress
as if you spend your life
on the couch.
WOMAN: Clothing carries
so many memories for us,
sometimes good
and sometimes really painful.
This group of people,
whom I've never met,
are taking part in
a unique social experience
to ultimately find out
if changing our clothes
truly can change our lives.
Look at you! Oh, my goodness!
Hi, I'm Kathryn.
- What's your name?
- Christiane.
Christiane, and would you
like to have a reading?
Yeah.
I see your Birkenstocks.
(LAUGHS)
- Not only are they
very comfortable...
- Very.
..but there's also that
kind of seeking of freedom,
you're not wanting to
have your feet closed in,
you know, not wanting to feel
closed in, in general.
And the stud earrings
in your ear,
how many do you have
in that ear?
Four, I think.
There are six holes.
So that speaks to someone who
has a bit of a free-spirited,
kind of rebellious side
to themselves.
You know, someone who
is an adventurer.
That's right.
And then I see
the other part of you,
which doesn't really
show much personality.
You know, it's like
the couch outfit,
- you know what I mean?
- Yes, I do.
Then I see the glasses,
you know, the shape of them
and then the colour.
It's this mix of being
very much an individual,
so you are very responsible
and kind of empathetic
in many ways,
and then there's
this playfulness to it as well,
that they're like clear
and they're blue,
and they're unexpected.
And I think that speaks to
the dichotomy between
the different parts of you.
And we are never one thing.
And you are very much
a tapestry of all those things.
But the one that
speaks to me the most
is the idea that you
want to be an adventurer,
and yet you dress as if you
spend your life on the couch.
Yes.
It's almost as if you've kind
of stopped trying, a little
bit.
Tell me about that.
I think it's just
being a mother,
and it's like
they're your priority.
Maybe one day
I will be my priority again,
like, when they've
finished school.
And it just seems like
a long way away.
How old are your kids?
15, 14 and 11.
Of course they're
the highlight of our life.
But the truth is is that you
end up living, like,
an incredibly different life.
And you don't feel like
you have an identity.
Like, when I dress,
whatever I wore the day before,
if I've thrown it by the side
of the bath and they're still
cl...
I'll just put them on.
I cannot be bothered.
Yeah, it's like, well,
that's what I'm comfortable in
and I don't care.
I think you do care.
You care that you've
stopped caring, a little bit.
I feel like I am a free spirit.
And are you living
a free-spirited life?
(EXHALES) I just...
Life's become tedious.
So a part of you has kind of
given up a little bit.
So you kind of walk around
feeling invisible, a little
bit?
Yeah. Frumpy, actually.
Frumpy mother -
that's what I feel.
So, what would you like to
kind of see yourself wearing?
Something feminine.
I want to feel sexy.
And I want to feel beautiful.
Are you ready to dump the
frumpy and ramp up the sexy?
Absolutely.
- Let's do it.
- Yes.
(APPLAUSE)
CHRISTIANE:
Kathryn really sees you.
You don't feel judged.
And I feel
the last couple of years
kind of ripped off from my
life.
And she sees that.
Come on. Let's go.
I used to be my own priority.
And now it's what my kids want,
what my family wants.
So I've done school drop-offs
in my nightie,
and I'll throw
a cardigan on top,
thinking that
no-one's going to know.
And...
that's just what
my life has become.
Prior to me having children,
I was really outgoing.
I love travelling.
You know, I went backpacking
for two years.
I lived all over the place.
My younger self
would look at me now and say,
daggy, frumpy.
I do believe I have
the foundations to feel sexy,
because I've felt it before.
I don't know
if I'm menopausal or what,
but I'm just feeling...
so...
dead.
So what do you need
to change anyway?
I mean, considering
you're nearly 50,
I think you're
doing fantastically.
But I don't want to be,
"Oh, wow, you're almost 50.
"You're great for 50."
I want to be great.
Not I want to dress for my age,
but I want to be sexy.
I want to dress
and I want to go out there
and I want people to notice me.
OK.
You know, you being a key part
of the family,
and role model to the kids,
if you're not happy,
none of us are happy.
I can't wait to see
the new chapter...
- The old me come out.
- Yeah.
I mean, that's the reason
I fell in love with you,
because of that.
I think so many women
are in the exact same spot
as Christiane.
You were a free-spirited
person who travelled.
You loved adventure.
You know, you got married,
you had kids.
And then, da! You're grounded.
And you think that you have to
abandon those parts of yourself
to be a good, responsible mum.
And I want to show her that,
no,
that actually can make you
a better mum.
Well, here we are.
Right. Behind door A...
(LAUGHS)
Well, you actually have
quite a few clothes.
So we've got
the grey here, loose.
This.
I can see a bit of
a silhouette forming.
- This.
- OK.
At least there's a little bit
of pattern there.
You want things off the body.
You don't want anything
that makes you...
This is 'I can't be bothered'.
Like, to kind of hide myself.
So it's kind of like a tent -
tent dressing.
- Mumu dress.
- Exactly.
So you want to be
on an adventure in a tent,
but instead you're
dressing yourself like a tent.
Not the same thing, right? OK.
This is an interesting,
almost like a bridging piece,
because you have the
conservative primary colours,
which speaks to the dutiful
aspect of your personality.
Then you have this kind
of flamboyant sleeve here.
And the combination of the two,
the fact that you could
wear this to the office
or on the weekend or on a trip,
that's the kind of clothing
I want.
OK, cool.
When you get dressed most days,
how do you feel?
That I'm just
performing my role.
What role is that?
Mother, you know, worker, wife.
Yeah, I just...
It's just practical.
You think there's practical,
and then there's fun?
- Yeah.
- But you can combine the two.
You can teach me how to do
that,
because I absolutely
have no idea.
Christiane, it's time for
a fashion reset for you.
For seven days,
I want you to open
your wardrobe drawers
and see it as
you're going on an adventure.
You might wear
a beautiful textured jacket,
or maybe a silky shirt,
or a statement shoe.
Then you're going to do
a little bit of shopping,
use what you have,
and we will meet again.
And I want you to tell me
exactly how you felt.
I do want to change,
and I am going to
take the task at hand.
Yay!
WOMAN: Go, go, go!
Tights and gloves.
I describe myself
in different ways.
Come out.
Alright, from the line.
I'm a very out-there,
outgoing person,
very loud, at times.
Go, Linda! Come on! Go!
Other times,
especially when I get nervous,
I go really quiet,
and I get very shaky
in the hands,
like I am at the moment.
Hi. I'm Kathryn.
- What's your name?
- Georgia.
Georgia. Would you like to
join me for a reading?
- Yes.
- Come here.
Georgia, how are you going?
- Very nervous.
- Yeah.
It's a lot, you know?
Are you OK?
Georgia, how are you going?
- Very nervous.
- Yeah.
It's a lot, you know?
Especially for someone,
when I read your clothes,
who kind of likes to
fade into the background.
When you got dressed,
it's kind of you're an
afterthought in your own life.
You throw on
a T-shirt, comfortable.
That's what's important to you.
Do you kind of live in
T-shirts?
Yeah. This is my go-to.
I have the same style shirts,
just in different colours.
You're, like, I found
something that works,
I'm just going to keep doing
it.
- Yeah.
- You're loyal. You're loyal.
Your loyal to your T-shirts,
and you're a loyal friend
as well.
You don't think about yourself.
In a world that is full of
people that want to be stars,
there also is a people
who feel most alive
when they're bringing out
the lights in other people.
And that brings out
the light in them.
And that's what I see in you.
Your jeans...
Can I see the top, the belt?
It's not a typical jean.
It's kind of
an interesting design.
The idea of kind of
pulling yourself in,
and that often speaks
to not feeling, like,
comfortable in your own skin
as well.
When you get dressed,
how do you feel?
Um, I hate it.
Sorry. (SOBS)
I like just covering up
as much as possible,
even though sometimes
it does make me look bigger.
Um...
- You just like to hide?
- Yeah.
I hate looking at myself
in the mirror.
I see...
a disappointment...
..to myself, to my family,
to my boyfriend.
Just not happy with who I am
and what I look like.
So you don't see
how beautiful you are?
- I know.
- Um...
When I was younger...
You think it's a bit stupid,
you know,
you're so young
when it happened,
that shouldn't matter.
But I got cheated on,
and it was with my best...
Sorry.
..my best friend.
(INDISTINCT)
I thought...
that's it, I don't want to be
around other people anymore.
I don't want people
to notice me,
because if they do,
I'm just going to
get hurt anyway.
You know what?
Some of the scars
from when we're so young,
they kind of imprint on you.
It doesn't mean
we can't work on that
and kind of scratch them off.
Yeah, you know,
it was so long ago,
but it's still affecting me
so much now.
I don't like
being out in public.
I get stressed out quite
easily.
Yeah.
Tell me about your boyfriend.
You said you feel like
you're letting him down.
I feel like it kind of
ruins our relationship,
my confidence level
and everything,
because I don't want to go out
wearing something like this.
I feel like
I'm embarrassing him.
And when you say that to him,
what does he say?
- He gets annoyed.
- Yeah?
Yeah.
I wish you could
see yourself as I see you.
You look great. But I know that
you have to feel great.
We will get you there.
When you look in the mirror,
and you see the beauty
that has always been there,
the confidence that
will come from that,
that's the transformation.
I don't want you continuing
your whole life
not wanting to be seen.
Would you like to go on
this journey of transformation
with me?
- Yes, please.
- Let's do it. Yeah?
- You in?
- Yeah.
- (APPLAUSE)
- Come here.
GEORGIA: Yeah, she read me
perfectly, actually.
Hit the nail on the head.
The biggest change in my life
that I'd like to make
is my confidence level.
Did you cry?
Yeah.
I'm not proud of myself,
who I am.
I know I want to change.
I know I need to change.
I am a girlfriend.
I'm a daughter. I am a sister.
I am an animal lover.
I'm a very caring person.
I'm a person that puts other
people before myself.
No, that is perfect.
- Do you want one?
- No, I'm good.
I've always been brought up
to help others,
make sure everyone's OK.
I don't want you to going there
without having
something in your stomach.
To be supportive,
to be that caring person.
My main goal is to have that
happy, married family, kids.
Having fun, but make sure that
I'm able to support my family.
I want to be able to
look at myself in the mirror
and be proud of who I am.
And I want to be able to
love myself.
I'm so scared if Kathryn
comes over to my house
and sees, one, the messy room.
But, two, the clothes I have,
and whether
she's going to want to
keep some stuff
I don't want to keep
and throw the things
I want to keep
and... put me in things
I'm not comfortable with.
Georgia is someone
who is using fashion
to be completely invisible.
I'm expecting to see
a lot of oversized,
baggy, very muted,
perhaps dark-coloured T-shirts
in George's wardrobe.
Nothing that shows off
the kind of opinionated,
fun, joyful person
that I know is in there.
So this is your special corner
of the world?
Yes, well, kind of...
As you can see,
it's a little bit tucked away.
What clothes have made it
to this rack?
More, I guess, fancier clothes,
stuff that shouldn't
be really scrunched up
and shoved away into the
drawers like the rest of them.
So kind of going-out clothes.
Yeah, but they've
either been worn once
or they've never been worn
at all.
So your going-out clothes
never go out.
- Yeah. - But yet you display
them here.
Yeah.
Maybe it's part of you
really wants to wear them,
and if you have them here...
- Have you won this one much?
- No.
I've tried it on to see how
it looks and that's about it.
When you bought it, what was
going through your mind?
Kind of hoping that
I'd get the confidence
to wear it somewhere.
But... never really happened.
Well, it's going to.
- Let's do it! Yes-no pile.
- OK.
- Definitely no.
- OK.
I'll be honest.
This one, red,
it's a bold colour.
So, I like the red.
Yeah, well, that's good, 'cause
that's my favourite colour.
Right colour, wrong piece.
This one looks like...
Oh, I see!
You've got a bit of a theme
going on here. You like this.
OK, we've got to tap into this
with our makeover.
I like that style, but I had
a bad experience wearing it.
- What happened?
- Um...
Sorry, um...
I haven't told anyone this
other than the people that
had to know.
In some form,
I was assaulted in it.
- (SOBS)
- Oh, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry. Can I actually just
throw it out the window.
- Yes. (LAUGHS AND CRIES)
- So sorry.
That is so gone. It's so gone.
I'm so sorry.
Clothing carries
so many memories for us.
Sometimes good,
and sometimes really painful.
Maybe there's a part
where you've wanted to
cover up and hide
because you want to be
invisible
so that you protect yourself
a little bit, right?
And that explains so much,
you know?
Every time I see
a style of shirt like that,
I think of that shirt.
And it has nothing to do with
the shirt, at all.
But...
It just brings back
what happened that night,
and... how it affected me
so much.
I think we should just throw
out all of it, to be honest.
Let's just...
You know what I mean?
We need a new start.
- Yeah.
- Let's just get rid of it all.
That's fine.
Going to have to
buy you more clothes now.
That's the good thing.
I think this transformation
is going to be extremely
difficult for Georgia.
I don't want her to waste
any more time
running away from the happy,
bubbly, gorgeous young girl
that she is.
The time is now.
And I think, deep down,
she knows that, too.
This is a really important
transformation for Christiane,
because it is such a waste of
life to feel nothingness.
To not be excited
by every single day,
that's a missed opportunity.
And I can't have her
miss another day.
CHRISTIANE: Basically,
what I have to do
is dress to feel something,
and not to feel numb,
and to get out of
my comfort zone
of just putting on
my house clothes -
elastic pants and a T-shirt.
These aren't normally the type
of shoes that I would wear.
Oh. I think these are going
to be hard to get used to.
Kathryn did say statement
shoes.
These are a statement.
Well...
Pretty uncomfortable.
I get the statement shoes.
That's easy.
Everything else, I don't know
if it will suit me,
but I'm going to try.
I woke up this morning
and washed my hair,
AND I've taken out
a clean linen shirt
and I've thrown on
some jewellery.
I had to go into the office.
Just that little bit of
extra attention to myself
really has lifted my spirits.
I'm finding just
one simple thing a day
is enough to make me feel
alive.
- Hey, I went shopping.
- HUSBAND: Oh, did you?
- Yeah.
- Fantastic.
Do you want to see what I got?
Oh, yes, please.
- Ooh.
- Silky.
Very nice indeed.
And this jacket.
Oh, my God. I love it.
HUSBAND: Wow.
Oh, my gosh.
- And it is so warm.
- Yeah, It's fantastic.
- Do you want to feel it?
- I do.
Come.
A bit of arm. Fantastic.
I love it.
I feel like
I'm finding myself again,
you know, in all that numbness.
Oh, Christiane's out again.
She's back.
And it's only little bits,
but it means so much to me.
I want Christiane to
wear more sensual fabrics.
I want her in bold colours
that get her heartrate going.
I want to stimulate
her appetite for life again
and I want to use fashion
to do it.
- Christiane, look at you!
- Hey, Kathryn.
Girlfriend, you have been busy.
Yes.
How did you end up
in those shoes?
You've come so far since we
met.
You said statement shoes,
and nothing screams 'statement'
more than leopard print.
You wild woman.
I knew it was in you.
Now, I want to
ask you something.
Since you've been dressing with
a little bit more love of life,
are you feeling
a little less numb?
I feel happier.
I feel like... I'm alive.
Oh, I really feel it.
And you know what's amazing?
Even though the clothes
are incredible,
it's the change in your face
that I see, the confidence.
You're, like, you're awake,
and you were asleep before.
Yeah.
Oh, so happy. OK.
Now, you've done
a little bit of shopping.
I have done
a lot of shopping for you.
I have been a very busy girl.
I want to show you
something pretty exciting.
OK, come on over here.
- So see this rack over here?
- Yep.
- This is your new wardrobe.
- Oh, wow.
- This is the new you.
- I can't wait.
And I know that you're
a very honest person.
So tell me, when you see this,
what do you think?
I love it.
Where would you go
in this exotic jumpsuit?
As it screams 'Morocco',
I would go to Morocco.
Marrakesh.
A jumpsuit
is a really cool thing,
because it has
these connotations
of being the adventurer.
And I love the colour.
I wouldn't say that
I was someone that
would EVER go to the shop
and go, "Ooh, orange!"
But I'm loving it.
When you wear bright colours,
it can really invigorate you.
It can make you feel more
alive, as you say.
Get you out of feeling numb,
and feel like you are...
Alive.
Living!
OK. And then...
This is a look that
I think is so much fun.
We've got the animal print,
which we have already
discovered is your new thing.
But I've done it
in this fabulous, silky fabric,
so it's very sensual.
Also, you don't
put up with nonsense.
When you're wearing
a silk shirt,
people better
speak to you nicely.
It looks beautiful.
OK. I've seen...
..seen something in here.
- Does it look familiar?
- It does.
I'm looking at this
and I'm thinking
I actually thought
it was normal to feel dead.
Like, absolutely no effort.
And I'm thinking
these are now good
just to mop up the floor with.
Like, honestly,
these are rubbish.
Absolute rubbish.
And they should never, ever
have been on this person.
- Yes! Yes.
- I actually hate them.
Well, let's, like,
get ready for...
get the cleaning solution out.
This is not the end,
because I have another look
that I am so excited for.
OK.
Behind that dressing room
curtain...
OK.
It's time to get dressed.
The reading wasn't
that long ago.
It feels like a lifetime ago.
I'm not that person.
I can't wait for Kathryn
to make me feel like
the sexy person
I know that is inside me.
I feel like I am a free spirit.
You are a free spirit.
And are you living
a free-spirited life?
I suppose I do.
Oh. I just...
Life's become tedious.
Christiane, come on out.
You look so breathtaking.
Come and have a look
in the mirror.
I feel really sexy and
feminine.
Look at you.
Now, this look is for
your goddaughter's wedding.
You missed her bridal shower
because you
didn't want to be seen.
But in this outfit,
all eyes will be on you.
I chose navy
because it reminds you
of the happiest time
in your life.
And this asymmetrical cut,
with a paisley, sequinned
design
to help you reclaim your
inner sparkle and free spirit.
Like, I know I look nice,
I just...
It doesn't feel like me,
but I like it.
There was a time
when you did do your makeup
and you spent more than
30 seconds getting dressed.
Was there?
- Was there?
- Yes, there was.
And it's confronting
to see that person again.
But I know there's someone
very excited to see you.
- And I want to surprise you.
- OK.
Chris, is that you?
You look absolutely amazing.
- Do I?
- Incredible.
Can you do a little turn?
Wow.
Mmm...
Now I'm too hot for you.
I think you are.
I think I'm in trouble. Yeah.
- Punching way above my weight
now, for sure.
- Aw.
Ready to go to the ball,
Cinderella?
Sure am.
At the beginning of
this whole experience,
I felt like a frumpy,
frumpy mother.
Now I'm feeling positive.
I'm feeling passionate.
I'm feeling happier.
Just my happiness alone is
sexy.
Today is
my goddaughter's wedding.
Prior to the transformation,
I was apprehensive
and really doubting
myself wanting to go.
Yeah, I like it. Much better.
I'm excited for my friends
to see me dressed up,
and I think that they're
going to actually sense that
I'm in a happier place.
Don't you dare kiss me.
You'll take my lipstick off.
(BOTH LAUGH)
How do you feel?
It's been beautiful.
I'm so happy that we came.
I would have died
if I missed it.
Now, spin.
I wake up in the morning,
it's like I've got
something to look forward to.
I want to be
the best version of myself,
and undertaking this,
I feel that I'm back on track.
Ah, you k*ll me.
GEORGIA: My fashion reset
is to go shopping.
WOMAN: Go find you
some clothes to wear.
- No.
- No?
I'm just scared.
- Why not?
- I hate shopping.
- I'll be alright.
- (EXHALES)
Having the opportunity to
get rid of all my old clothes
and start fresh
makes me feel excited.
But I hate shopping.
It's like
one of my worst nightmares.
No. Too basic.
Look what
you're wearing already.
- No?
- No.
My sister is
the most gorgeous girl ever.
Do you want to try a size on?
Not really, but...
Try something.
Then there's me. You know?
I just feel like
I'm always the OTHER sister.
You want to
stay with skinny legs?
- Preferably, yeah.
- Yeah, sure.
Try them. See how you feel.
And these ones are
slightly shorter.
- OK. Thank you.
- You'll look brilliant.
Yeah. Give it a go.
The people that are working
in the shop try and help.
Just means more eyes on me,
looking at me, staring at me.
I think we need ones that
are not as long on your ankles.
Like this.
These ones are 7/8 length,
so they're going to be
a little shorter.
I got you some more outfits.
Might be better
without the socks.
Hey, leave the socks alone.
It's not TOO bad.
It needs a different top.
(INHALES, EXHALES)
- Nup.
- Alright, well...
It's hard shopping for my size,
because one minute I'm a 14,
the next minute I'm an 18.
SHOP ASSISTANT: How did you go?
- No.
- SISTER: You didn't
get any of them?
- No.
- Oh.
Did you like any of the jeans?
They were alright,
but they weren't me.
Not you?
- Alright. I'll grab that one.
- Sure.
Not the right size.
Nothing for you?
- No.
- OK.
KATHRYN: Going shopping,
for so many people,
it's really traumatic.
It can be a really, really
challenging thing,
to go in there
and try on a bunch of things
and not feel right
in any of them.
What I want people to do
is to remind themselves
that if it doesn't look good,
there's nothing wrong with you
-
something wrong with
the piece of clothing.
Research shows that
when women feel down, sad,
they often gravitate towards
oversized baggy T-shirts
and jeans, jumpers.
Basically,
Georgia's everyday uniform.
When you don't feel happy,
dressing up is
just not a priority for you.
But the great thing is
is that you can
reverse-engineer it.
You can actually dress happy,
and it has a physiological
and psychological impact
on the way you feel.
And I'm really hoping
to do that with Georgia.
The solution for Georgia
is to get used to seeing
herself looking feminine and
pretty,
get used to seeing
that version of herself
reflected back at her.
Change is painful at first,
but suddenly
you'll get to a point
where you look back
at the old version of yourself
and THAT feels weird.
That's how I'm
edging her forward.
I'm still struggling
to feel confident
in what I'm seeing
in the mirror.
I'm still not proud of myself,
and how I look.
Um, so, I'm wearing a dress.
Yes, you heard that right -
a dress.
It does not look flattering
on me at all.
I have my go-to tights.
But, yeah,
we'll put on a jacket.
So, just be honest.
What do you think?
Eight out of ten.
- Eight?
- Eight out of ten.
Is it 'cause
the hair's not done?
Maybe. And there's
not enough makeup.
You hate makeup.
Putting effort into myself,
it's hard.
Having Braiden
supporting me through it all,
it's been great.
It's not just for me.
It's for him. It's for us.
But it's still
such a scary process.
Georgia's new wardrobe
is a huge departure
from her previous wardrobe.
There's not a daggy, baggy
T-shirt in sight.
I wanted to step into
the colour with her,
and also, you know,
step away from the idea
of dressing down,
dressing to be invisible.
All of these clothes...
demand attention.
It's like
a new beginning for her.
Georgia!
Oh, it is so good
to really see you.
When I first met you,
you were a beautiful girl
hiding in plain sight.
You look absolutely beautiful.
How did you go
with your fashion reset?
It was hard. It was so hard.
Um...
I struggled, looking at myself
in the mirror.
Um...
But it was probably something
that I definitely needed to do.
Very scary process.
We're all works in progress.
But now that your eyes are
open,
there's something else
I want you to see.
OK.
- See this rack over here?
- Yes.
All of these clothes
are yours to keep.
- Keep?
- To keep.
This is your new wardrobe,
for the new life
that you're going to live.
- Is that exciting?
- Yeah.
Alright.
So here we have pink.
It is bright and youthful,
which is what I see in you.
(WHISPERS) Oh, gosh.
And the textures are
pretty fun as well - corduroy.
And I want you
to remind yourself
that fashion and life itself
is not something
to be scared of or hide from,
to step out of your own shadow,
and just step into
the brightness
that you have inside of you.
Now, let's put it with this,
for example.
- Would you wear that?
- Jeans... might be, yeah.
And what about...?
Here's an outfit that I thought
was really, really
going to test you
and push you outside
of your comfort zone.
So underneath, we have
this very pretty dress,
but then we put
this denim jacket.
And sometimes
we don't want to be seen.
Sometimes we want
to wear a layer
to make us feel a little bit
protected and covered.
You have such an inner sparkle,
and this denim speaks to that.
What do you think of this?
Not 100% sure on the sparkles
on the denim,
but I love the denim.
I've got to go all-in
if I want this to work.
And, finally...
look what I found
floating around in here.
- Look familiar?
- Yes, it does.
Now, when you see these
clothes,
what do you think of
the girl who wore this?
Very scared of everyone
and everything,
of how they see me.
I don't like that anymore.
What do you want to
do with them?
Throw them.
You can do it.
I give you permission.
- That feel good?
- Yes.
Felt so good.
Alright.
It's not over yet, Georgia.
I have something very special
waiting for you
behind that curtain,
a look that I think will
complete the transformation.
Georgia, it's time
to get dressed.
GEORGIA: Walking to
the change room,
seeing the big green curtains,
scared me because I have no
idea what is behind that
curtain,
what kind of style,
what colour it is.
But there was a little bit
of excitement in me.
So tell me,
when you get dressed,
how do you feel?
I see a disappointment.
..to myself, to my family,
to my boyfriend.
I feel like it kind of
ruins our relationship,
because I don't want to go out
wearing something like this,
even if it's just
down the road kind of thing.
I feel like
I'm embarrassing him.
Georgia, come on out
and take a look.
You look so beautiful.
Have a look in the mirror.
Oh, my...
Oh, wow.
You're breathing
very deeply, there.
- Do you like what you see?
- I do.
I'm lost for words.
What do you see
when you look in the mirror?
A different person.
I'm wearing a dress.
My hair!
I'm wearing earrings.
I haven't worn earrings in...
years.
Now, I chose this dress,
the pink colour
speaks to your joyful...
you described
'loud' personality,
but at the same time
just very pretty and feminine.
And you are a young woman,
so this is the perfect shade
for you.
Where do you think
you might wear this dress
and this whole look?
I'm hoping and praying
for a date night.
- I think you're
going to get one.
- Yeah.
Yeah. I need it.
Now, I'm going to leave you
here to soak this in.
Enjoy this moment.
I see pretty girl.
And that's all I've wanted.
I... haven't felt like this
in a long time.
Oh, Georgia, you look gorgeous.
My God, you look stunning.
You look like a little angel.
How do you feel?
Good.
You look amazing.
It's just me now.
How do you feel?
(WHISPERS) I'm so proud of you.
Wearing something like this,
this colour, this style,
gives me so much more
confidence
to be able to go out
and have a social life,
and wear bright, bold colours.
Here you go.
- Me?
- Yep.
Thought I'd get you
something pretty.
Show you how much I love you.
Thank you.
I'm feeling excited
to be out, finally, in public
with my boyfriend.
Feels good,
wearing something different,
and out of my comfort zone.
Did my hair, did my makeup.
Put earrings in,
got a necklace on.
This transformation will
help my relationship SO much.
I'm excited to explore, I
guess,
everything
about my relationship.
Explore the city more.
I'm glad it's finally happened,
after three years.
- I love you.
- I love you, too.
MAN: I wanted to be
a country star.
That's what
I always wanted to be.
For the last 17, 18 years,
I've been singing in pubs.
# It's just a sparkle
in her eye... #
I wanted to be a proper,
old-school country singer
like Merle Haggard.
Deep down,
your soul looks for something.
And my soul is
an old-school country singer.
I didn't push hard enough
to make a dream.
I look at people now, that
we were on the same trajectory,
and they're kicking goals,
and I sort of just ended up
staying just a pub singer
sitting in the corner of a pub.
And I let that slide
just through poor choices.
For so long, I've hid behind a
lot of things.
But sometimes you have to
step out of your zone
to feel better and...
..and to really feel good
about yourself again.
Hi. I'm Kathryn.
What's your name?
I'm Aaron.
Aaron, would you like
to have a reading?
Love to.
Tell me a story.
