01x01 - Paedophile Hunters

Post by bunniefuu »

Was this the guy you're going after?

Yeah, but I'll show you also.

Um

OK, soIs your phone just full

of paedophiles?

Yeah, I got a lot of d*ck pics on

there, and, like, none of them

are mine, soIt's just a phone

full of paedophiles, right.

Vigilante groups trying to expose

child sex predators are popping

up all over the United States.

What's driving people to join fringe

subcultures and communities?

You guys want to see a predator

get caught?

I think I've done about 20 films,

and I think this is the worst

stuff I've heard.

And what do their leaders promise?

You're live with 300 people.

I'm immersing myself in fringe groups

to understand the real

motivations behind their beliefs.

I mean, there's no race,

gender, age.

It could be anybody,

any income, anything.

I'm in America, where the world

of online paedophile hunting

I think I'd be a good hunter.

..and shocking livestreamed stings

are attracting millions.

Watching from Dublin, Ireland.

Bringing fame and money

to its frontmen.

He's a wild horse, he's a hero.

What's making them take the law

into their own hands?

Come on, man.

And are the hunters doing it for

the people they claim to protect

For the price of only one

pumpkin spice latte a month,

you can watch these videos.

..or are they doing it

for themselves?

This is a whole heap of madness.

I was talking to my boy today

and I was like, "what am I doing?"

He goes, "I don't know what

you're doing."

He goes, "why are you doing that?"

I don't know what I'm doing

with my life.

Should have just been a plumber.

Innit? We should have just

been plumbers.

I'm in Broomfield, Colorado to meet

Tommy Fellows

..who is fast becoming America's

most prolific predator hunter.

Hey, what's up, man?

How's it going, man?

Nice to meet you.Nice to meet you,

I'm Tommy.

Nice to meet you, man,

nice to meet you.

So, what's going on?

So today we actually have

19 people that flew in

from across the United States

to catch a 32-year-old

who's going to meet with

a 13-year-old.

And he's on his way now.

Uh, yeah, he'll be there in about

five minutes, so

Great.Cool, let's go.

We are live.

Tommy has amassed thousands

of followers, and some of them

have flown thousands of miles

to watch a capture up close.

So, what are you doing?

We're watching him live, then

we're going to walk over.OK.

The decoy's on the phone

with the pred.

So the pred's in the area?Yeah.

Backed in like a sneaky little sh*t.

I'm going to have to do it.

Tommy's running over, so.

Yeah.

Let's snag and bag him, baby.

I'm not going to call the police,

I just want to talk to you.

Can you roll the window down?

But you're the predator, I should be

the one worried, right?

I live in the same town as you, bro.

How many times have you met

with a 13-year-old?

This was going to be the first time?

It's going to be the last time, too.

Why are you recording it now?

I just want it, I want to see it.

I want to have it,

cos I'm here this time.

It's personal.

Is this your first in person

In person.OK.

My very first in person.

Oh, it's your first one?Yes.

It's a high.

When you watch them get caught on

the screen, yeah, it's great.

This is so awesome to see it

in person.

All right, guys, we got

a bunch of people here.

I appreciate you guys, much love.

I'm jumping off.

Love you guys.

Peace!

Hey, Tommy, how do you think

it went?

Uh, went all right.

When you're walking over,

how do you feel?

I just needed to get to him

as fast as I could.

Because if I can talk to him,

let him know we're not here

to hurt you, man, we don't even have

to call the cops

if you're honest with us, whatever.

Just try to get him to stay.

When you say, "I won't call

the cops?"I say I don't have to.

And, you know, I never have

called the cops.

Oh, really?No, it's other people

calling for me.

But you know what I mean,

it's just tricking them, you know?

How does it feel, like all of these

people and they've come

from different states?

It's definitely heart-warming, man,

it's amazing.

All of us together like this,

this isit's pretty amazing, so.

Yeah, I love it.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

Tommy's relatively new to the

paedophile hunting business.

He set up Colorado Ped Patrol,

or CPP, just three years ago

and has carried out nearly 400

stings and got 40 convictions

across the states.

I'm at his home,

which is also the group's HQ.

Hey, man, how you doing?

What's up, brother, how you doing?

This is my little office

where I do everything.

This is where the magic happens?

This is where the magic happens.

You got a lot of stuff here.

Football memorabilia.

Oh, you're a football fan?

I sell it.

Oh, you sell it as well?

Get some money, yeah.

So do you make money off

the pred hunting?

I do.Donations?It used to be

YouTube used to be huge.

So from, like, pred hunting on

YouTube, how much could you make?

Probably 100,000 a year.

That's crazy.Yeah.

Why do you think so many people

watch it?

People like to see predators

get taken off the street.

When I saw it, I couldn't stop

watching it, man, because I went

through it ten years ago, you know,

somebody real close to me.

So people get to see how many

predators are actually

in this little small area.

Yeah, it's obviously dangerous.

Yeah.Because you're putting

yourself in a conflict?Absolutely.

Two predator catchers have already

been shot, one was k*lled.

Really?Yeah.

This is my catch for tomorrow.

Oh, OK.

It's a 44-year-old going

for a 13-year-old.

It's weird because it's like, I

I don't know what I expect them

to look like.

Yeah.Do you know, I

First I expected him to look like

aA nonce?You know, I had

Yeah.Yeah, yeah, you expect him

to look like that.

Yeah, no, they're not, yeah,

it's wild sometimes, you know,

you catch guys showing up in suits

and you would never expect it.

What's this photo here?

Which one?The Jesus.

That's So one of our trolls

did that,

so we made a picture of it

and framed it.

This is Captain,

this is my buddies.

And that's you?Yeah.

Do you know what's madness as well,

is when you realise

someone really took time,

that don't take ten minutes.

No, no, they dedicate themselves.

I understand they're trolls,

but why a photo of you as Jesus?

They used to say cult sh*t,

you know?

Would you say it's a cult?

Would you say it is?

I would say no.

I make the final decision.

But it's a group effort

to get to that decision.

What Tommy offers to his followers

is a chance for them

to get involved in the hunts.

All right, everybody,

welcome to CPP decoy training.

He trains people to find

predators online.

Decoy persona.

This is possibly the most

important part of your decoy.

Remember that you are a teenager.

You will have to think and speak

like a teenager.

The use of emojis and internet

jargon is essential,

along with poor punctuation

at times.

Once decoys find a target,

there's a core group of supporters

who find their whereabouts.

What's going on, guys,

what you got going on?

Oh, we are looking up a scumbag.

Yeah?Yeah.What do you think

makes a good hunter?

I think it's somebody who wants

to solve a puzzle.

Being able to think outside the box.

Yes.So it's like a m*rder mystery,

but you get to do something good?

I think I'd be a good hunter.

I think, I think

You sit down, I'll get up.

Yeah.

Do you think that there will ever be

a time this will be your jobs?

Because, Tommy, this is like

his job, from the donations,

make money, whatever and can

support himself off of it.

Yeah.Is there a sort of idea

to make it so everyone

can support themselves?

Mm-hm.Um

I know it's what Tommy wants.

It's what Tommy wants.

He wants it to be able to pay us.

If you look at like the criticisms

people have

Yeahit would be that

he gets paid and you guys don't.

Well, people think he makes

all this money, he doesn't.

Do you guys put your own money

into it?

Oh, yeah, thousands of dollars.

Wow.Yeah.

It's OK because it's all

about the mission.

We do all this for the kids.

We chose Tommy to do this for

because he's the guy

that we're like, oh, man, if I were

to do it, that's exactly

how I would do it.

When you were young, did you always

want to be some type

of investigator or some type of spy?

Because it's kind of like,

it's very particular skills.

I wanted to be a rock star

when I was younger.OK.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,

yeah, yeah, yeah.

You're a little bit far off.

Yeah!

Being a newcomer to the world of

online hunting, Tommy's attracted

the attention of rival hunters.

Pull up straight ahead,

I just like

Like Alex Rosen, who heads up

the Houston based organisation

called Predator Poachers.

Hey, Tommy, I got a call from 2005,

they want your Ecko hoodie back.

This is how immature they are.

Says the guy that's worn the same

jacket two months in a row.

Really? Really?Yeah.

Cos I think I have about seven

or eight of these.

I don't wear the same clothes,

buddy.

This is the sh*t Alex does.

But, Tommy, you called me

a paedophile, so address it.

Address it.

He's a f*cking loser idiot!

He's crossing the line.

Started what?

What did I say that wasn't true

about you, name one thing?

You said my kid's Ret*rded,

you said my wife's a f*cking man.

You called me a pedo.

You're a r*cist piece of

I'm smarter than you.

Well, he has a g*n

on him, bro.

Dude, dude, you have a g*n, dude?

Of course I got a g*n,

you got three people.

You by yourself,

come out of that car.

And do what?

We're going to f*cking square up.

Right, let me take off my seat belt.

Rock your world, bro.

Where do you want to do it?

We can go to the park and do it!

I'm crossing state lines to meet

Tommy's predator-catching

nemesis, Alex Rosen.

An activist on the

Libertarian right.

Alex set up Predator Poachers

five years ago.

We're doing it with the police

right here, OK?

His online fame blew up

at a political rally

when he had a few choice words

for Hillary Clinton.

CHANTING

Is this really necessary?

Is this really necessary, guys?

Is this really necessary?

Alex has racked up close to 100

convictions in 40 states so far.

Follow us on Facebook.

Yes, middle-aged white lady who

doesn't know what Rumble or Locals

is and doesn't know how to click a

link. Follow us on Facebook. Ooh!

And his method of revealing

incriminating details

Be the uncle to the kid.

..along with his right-wing

politics

CHANTING OVER MEGAPHONE:

Baby K*llers!

..appeals to thousands, who each

pay monthly subscriptions

to watch his videos online.

Consider becoming a mem-ber

in the pinned comment.

And if you want to see this video

uncensored and early,

you could have just became

a mem-ber in the pinned comment.

Alex has invited me along

to his next catch, so we've travelled

four states from Colorado

to meet him at his current hotel

in Huntington, Indiana.

KNOCKING AT DOOR

How's it going? Nice to meet you.

Looking for a paedophile hunter.

JAMALI LAUGHS

I'm right here. Right here.

Can we come in?Absolutely.I don't

want to film in the corridor.

People get creeped out by cameras.

I'm sure you know.Yes, yes.

What have you been getting up to?

Well, we catch online

child predators.

I'm 23 years old right now. Started

doing this when I was 19.You're 23?

Yeah, I know, dude. The hairline.

But, you know.Yeah, yeah.

You got to think of all

the d*ck pics I've seen

in the past couple of years.Yeah.

It'll age a guy!

It would stress anyone out!Right,

exactly.What did you do before?

I've always wanted to be a police

officer.Oh, you wanted to be a cop?

Yeah, I've always wanted to do that.

Why didwhy did you

Why did you not be a cop?

So at 19 years old,

you had to be 21 to graduate

the academy.

Ah.So I've always wanted

to be that person catching

the bad guys. So I saw an

opportunity to do it through that.

Would you be a cop now, then?

Well, I do want to run for office

one day.No sh*t!

Yeah, I do.

Under what platform?

The platform would absolutely be

tightening the laws on child

predators. And the other platform

would just be slashing taxes

because I hate paying taxes.

So, I mean, I think a lot of people

canProtect the kids,

slash the tax.Yeah,

protect the kids, slash the tax.

You might win on that platform,

to be fair.Exactly.

And so this is my first up close and

personal hunt.OK.

What should I expect?

I mean, there's no race,

gender, age.

It could be anybody, any income,

anything.

Do you get excited?Do I get excited

about doing this?Yeah.

It's the funnest thing in the world.

I think we're ready to go.Yeah.

Do you wear a bulletproof vest

or anything?

Oh, I should, but I don't.Just

shorts.Yeah.Just shorts and a tee.

I'm just a package delivery guy!

Is this your crew?

This is the crew, yeah.

How you doing, bro?How you doing?

I'm good, man.

Let's go head out, man.All right.

Alex views his work as a stepping

stone to political office,

which makes Tommy Fellows

the opposition.

I have fun just playing

the mental game with Tommy.

And it's like verbal jujitsu,

you know what I'm saying?

It's not just any one group has the

right to go save children.Yeah.

It should be everybody.

I mean, we put in a sh*t

ton of work.

I mean, we like to say we travel

the most, catch the sickest.

We're not just on dating apps,

just trying to find people.

We're trying to find the child

porn traders.

And I think that separates us

from other channels.

How come you don't just get evidence

and take it straight to the police?

Well, I think it just sits it on

a desk for months and months,

or even years. But if we call the

police to the spot,

it just puts the ball in their

court immediately.

When these predators admit

to something like child porn, well,

boom, they can't ignore that.

So we have this next catch

here in Franklin.

So he thinks the girl is coming

to his house.

He says he's getting Taco Bell

right now.

So bringing alcohol and Taco Bell.

Are you going to eat the Taco Bell?

We'll see.

Depends how the catch goes.

OK, he's leaving Taco Bell

right now.

In the next two minutes.

WHISPERING:Oh, he's parking

right there.

Excited?I am excited.

Oh, there he is.

Heads down, heads down.

He's getting sh*t out of the back

right now.

How old does he think she is?11.

WHISPERING: f*cking hell.

Hey, stop right there.

Got any weapons on you?

Uh, got a knife.

Mind if you just drop that knife,

please?

Thank you.

Do you mind if we just go and have

a talk over there?

They can quit filming me.

Yeah, you can just face that way.

Don't matter.

So do you ideally know what I'd come

to talk to you about today?

No, I'mnot real sure.

I meanOK.

I'm just here to talk, man.

That's all.

So who was all that food for?

A girl.OK.

How old did she tell you she was?

Um15.

So some of these messages here,

I mean

I think you can kind of help

with this.

There's people on Telegram

that I've heard are pretty

crazy on there.Yeah.

There have been groups

that you've been in that people

Like, bad apples have posted

that stuff, but youYeah.

But you peaced out of there.

Oh, yeah.

I obviously know this is not

something you condone

Oh, she's probably going to call

She's probably going to call

the cops.

We're going to just walk off the

property

just so we're all kosher here.

You want to talk in the car?

OK. Is this a conversation

we could continue at home?

Here, let's get the camera guys

away.

I'm just simply here to talk to you.

This is your opportunity to actually

not get looped into these people.

I'd rather just talk to you, man.

All right. Well, they're not filming

right now.

Oh, my f*cking God.

Guys, you got to get out of the way

when he says to f*cking

not film, dude. You just got to

move out of the way.

Like, he's looking at you the whole

f*cking time, bro.

Oh, my God.

Are you talking to us?Huh?

Are you talking about our camera?

No, dude.Oh!

They were just Like, guys.

When he's already giddy

about the camera,

just don't stick it in his face

when he's just in the car.

Just move away.

The audio is still picking it up.

Hey, Alex. It was a bit confusing.

What happened?

He was literallyjust started

talking about the child porn groups

he was in, and then the f*cking

manager just comes and says,

"By the way, there's no filming."

I mean, oh, my God, dude.

Then they just spooked him and he

just walked away.

It seems like it's pissed you off.

Yeah, it really did.

I mean, f*cking white woman

You can put this in

the f*cking documentary.

White women can't keep their grimy

f*cking hands out of anything.

If you see people minding their own

business, leave it the f*ck alone!

That is my message

and official statement.

Endorsed by me, myself and I.

Do you want that on a plaque or?

Yes.

LAUGHTER

That is literally the Karen manager

coming in and just f*cking getting

this guy spooked, bro.

It's not just about bringing

predators to justice.

Stings that don't end in a catch

aren't popular with viewers,

and that could affect subscriptions.

So you think the sting went good?

No, I f*cking don't.

JAMALI CHUCKLES

Hi, there. I'm Skeet Hansen,

and welcome

to another captivating episode.

There's one catcher with

more followers than almost

any pred hunter in the US.

Damn, I look good.

He's a YouTube star

..whose stings combine high

production values

It's your boy Skeet Hansen,

back at it again.

..hidden cameras

and a cast of extras.

What's going on?

Looks like you made

the naughty list.

And he's racked up

millions of views thanks

to his prankster hunting style.

You've just been Skeeted in 4K.

Skeeted in 4K.

Skeeted in 4K.

KNOCKING

Skeeter Jean.Welcome to my crib.

Thank you!

You've got a nice yard!

This is my living room.

This is where I, uh, do my living.

Here we got, like, my studio

Oh, this is the bit where you do the

interview bit.Exactly.

You do the, "Hi."I'm Skeet Hansen.

"I'm Skeet Hansen."Exactly.

"You've been Skeeted."In 4K.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.Yep!

What'd you work as before?

I was actually working for a bank,

processing mortgage loans.

This is different to that.

Do you make more doing this

than you did doing finance?

Oh, absolutely.Are you rich?

Um, rich?

Some people may consider me as such,

but I like to stay humble.

Yeah?Yeah.

You know?Are you a millionaire?

I'm not a millionaire.

No, we're not there yet.

Can you tell me roughly

how much you make?So maybe

So maybe not.

I mean, uh, enough to support

myself.Yeah, yeah, yeah.

But that could be

That could be 20,000.

It's in the six-figure range.

OK. Hundreds of thousands.Yeah.

OK.Yeah.Sick, that's cool.

Man, I might start pedo hunting.

You got a million subscribers?

I do. Just surpassed a million.

That is my YouTube plaque.

The gold plaque.

Is that a prized possession?

Oh, it is, absolutely. Yeah.

Vid ideas? "Pred My Pride".

Pred My Ride.

That's like a spin-off of

Pimp My Ride, where we would go

to a predator, and he has a really

beaten down car.Yeah.

And we would act like we're trying

to give him a free touch up

on his ride.OK.

It's not really a punishment, then,

is it?

Well, no. It is, because the stuff

we're going to put in it is going

to be like We're going

to have all the chat logs

and that throughout the car.OK!

So just something crazy like that.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Just branching off into other kinds

of content.OK. Why branch out?

I just need to have something

that's a little more advertiser

friendly.

And it says, "Adam 800"

Oh, those are a couple of friends

that owe me money.

CHUCKLING

You're coming for that paper, innit?

Oh, yeah.Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Can't be letting that go.

We're more similar than I thought,

you know.

While Skeet is the creative brain

commanding the outfit,

I want to meet his full-time team,

who each have a distinctive role

in the business.

I was actually 15 years old

when I did my first decoy thing.

You were 15 when you?15.

And I was portraying a 13-year-old.

You as a child

Me as a child did it, yeah.

That'snot good.

The first person I actually ever

caught and confronted was someone

that my mom was friends with in

high school.No way!Mm-hm.

That's wild.It is wild, right? Yeah.

A weird school reunion.

SHE LAUGHS

It's an exciting energy.Oh, yeah!

Oh, for sure, man.

It's kind of like It's a buzz,

innit?It's very exciting.

It might get spicy. Do you need me

to hold a g*n?

I can hold a g*n.

I might have someone right now

who's actually in a wheelchair.

I just found out, Skeet.

I just found out.

I see. Well, we don't discriminate.

Is it a good or bad thing?

People are going to say that video

is fake,

but you really can't make

this sh*t up.

LAUGHTER

How are we going to get him up

theDon't discriminate!

If he needs help, then you just

literally pick up the wheelchair

and bring him up here.

Even if it's against his will.

We'll just cut it out

from the video.

Well, it soundsOh, wheelchair

guy's still on the line, though.

Is he?He's keeping in contact.

Oh. The GoPros are rolling,

and this guy should be here

in the next ten-ish minutes.

Why don't you just call him, then?

DIAL TONE

Hello?

SING-SONG:Hello?

You might as well start rolling

the GoPro.

With five minutes to go and still no

sign of a potential paedophile,

Skeeter's team are still waiting.

They're less focused on conviction

rates than any other hunters.

But to produce clickbait for

viewers, they still need a target.

I got a question for you, yeah.

Throughout history, we've always

wanted to see things

that we probably shouldn't

that we can kind of mock and enjoy.

Like, I've seen your content.Yeah.

And there is a part of it

Because I know he's a potential

or alleged paedophile, it makes it

easier for me to see him

be pranked, or to see him be put in

an uncomfortable, embarrassing

situation.Absolutely.

BecauseI think everyone

would agree.

If you see a title, "Predator

shows up in a wheelchair to meet

"a 13-year-old girl," you're going

to look at it and think,

"This isn't really my kind of

content, but I've got to find out

"if this is real."

YeahAnd they click it.

Even if you think it's wrong,

you'll watch itSure

..knowing that it's wrong.Yeah.

Just on the basis of,

"I've got to find out

if this is real." You know.

Do you think he will come?

I do. I really do think this guy

will come.

We've been on and off all day.

He just said, "I'm sorry."

Wheelchair guy said "sorry."

He just said sorry. That's it.

He's not coming.

Why can't they just f*cking show up?

That's f*cking annoying.

All right. It's been a long night

of decoying.

We thought we were going to be

catching this wheelchair guy,

but he's not coming now.

But we got his address,

so we're going to roll up in

..roll up on him tomorrow.

Um, no pun intended.

It's That's where we're at.

You disappointed? You look sad.

I am. It is disappointing, you know.

I want to catch these guys

and teach them

that you can't be out here

doing that.

Actually, throw me that UPS

right there.

This one?Yeah. So, this the one

we've got

This is for the next guy here.

All right.

Oh, you are saying you're a UPS

delivery guy.

Yeah!That'snot believable.

But, um, who gives a f*ck?

So far, most of the stings

I've seen haven't gone to plan.

I haven't seen a target be

confronted by a hunter,

so I'm keen to join Alex

on his next catch.

Can you tell me a little bit

about this guy?

He's a guy who's messaging who he

believes to be a 13-year-old girl

asking her for nudes.

And he's showed us groups of

child p*rn*graphy he was in.

So I think there's a 100% chance

he has it on his phone.

Is it livestreamed?

Um, this one will beyeah.

So say you livestream it,

you put it out.

If you are wrong, then what happens?

Oh, we're not wrong.

No, no, noWe're not

I'm just saying if. I'm saying if.

Well, that would be a one in a

one-ever situation.Mm.

Because it's a guarantee.

God, I'm not worried.

OK.

Alfredo, is this your full-time job?

Yes.

What would you say your job is?

Cameraman for

the Predator Poachers.Yeah.

I was going for school

for construction management.

We started travelling, like,

every month

Yeahso I couldn't go to school.

Oh, you dropped out of school

to do this?

Yeah, we both dropped out

at the same time.

Are you three all best friends?

Yeah, I would call them brothers.

Brothers.

We've been through some

crazy, crazy stuff.

You feel the same, Alfredo?

Yes, sir. Absolutely.

It's a weird thing to do

with your mates.

With my friends, I normally go out

to eat or something.

Oh, we do that, too. But it's just

likeYou know what I mean?

We'll go to a bar.

Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.

All right. Cool, man.

Do you kind of know what I'm here

to talk to you about?No.

OK, so I'm trying to narrow

down some age ranges here.

So what's the common age ranges

you think are in these groups

that they're posting?I have seen

probably 14

The truth probably didn't come

out there.

Realistically, how many times have

you boughtTwice.

You bought child porn twice?

So, that's who sold you that stuff?

Mm-hm.OK.

Jamali.

Oh, man. Could use some

fried pickles.

Can you order a friend pickles

order?

OK. Order the fried pickles!

Freaking starving.

All right.

Do you have a passcode

on your phone?

It's oneBLEEP.

OneBLEEP.OK.

How's it going, sir?Pretty good.

We have a group that catches online

child predators, and we just wanted

to kind of turn that into you guys.

You just basically just got carried

away and just bought some child porn

the past week? OK.

And it was on your phone? OK.

And that's

And your code's oneBLEEP?OK.

Well, that's kind of the gist here.

How do you feel?

He did at one point ask for nudes.

Yeah. Then in person with us

he also admitted she was 13.OK.

He's going to be released from here

because

You are taking his phone, though,

right?Yeah, of course.

Can't obviously charge him with

anything

until we have, like, fact

Of course, yeah.

Have you never dealt with a catching

crew before?

I never have. Heard of it going on,

but it's not super common

around here, soRight.

Like, I'm a comedian, innit?

So, like, you know, I'll make

a joke at a funeral, but there's

something just inherently

depressing about all of this.

You know what I mean, though?

Like, I couldn't do what you do.

It's all very friendly.Yep.

Even when you were talking to him,

it felt friendly.

The cops talking to him,

it feels friendly.

You got to instantly find sh*t

that you could build a connection

with them with. Then he tells me

more sh*t. So it is

You've got to groom the groomers.

Yeah.So

All right, guys. Be sure to join up

on Locals in the pinned comment.

Really helps us out. We do travel

the most and catch the sickest.

We are all the way in Michigan

right now from Houston, Texas.

We're from the southern border

to the Canadian border.

Drove a very long way, but we'll go

any distance to get someone sick

like this, hopefully, off the

streets here.

Locals, $8 a month, 70 videos early

and uncensored.

And follow us on Facebook, too.

I'm trying to be separate.

Like, I'm trying to be away from it,

and I'm trying to observe.

But just by the nature of it,

is we're filming the thing.

I'm still weirded out morally.

Like, where do I sit with it?

Because I'm included in the content.

I don't know,

it feels entertainment-y.

The content is important because

there are viewers and then

the viewers equal more money.

But then you hear that stuff

and you go,

"Oh. It's paying for him

to get guys like that who watch

"f*cked up stuff."

You know what I mean?

It's stuff I wouldn't even repeat.

We're interrupting this broadcast

to let you know we're going

to Mallie's Sports Bar and Grill.

OK.

I'm going to be trying a taco

challenge there.

How many tacos do you have to eat?

They said two pounds.

I don't think that's It's not

a challenge. It's my f*cking lunch.

Two pounds? Yeah.We'll see what

they got.

You're a big dude. You'll be fine.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.Peace.

It feels uncomfortable, how normal

it's become. Like, we're literally

going from here to go eat

two pounds of tacos.

Do you know what I mean?

Where I feel like I need aI need

to wash this off.

You know what I mean?

Three,

two,

one, go.

I've spent a few weeks with hunters

now.

Do you always eat a big meal

after catching?

But I'm even more confused

by their motives,

whether it's about justice

or entertainment.

I'm here in Broomfield, Colorado

with your husband.

He didn't want to call you, but

he's here at the Walmart to pick

up the 14-year-old boy.

I'm sorry.

I've come to talk to Tommy about how

the hunting world is changing.

The media's questioning

their methods, and the targets

are starting to fight back.

Already one of them

tried to stab him.

Hello?

Yes.

OK, perfect.

I will do it. Thank you.

Bye.

We've got our deadline today for

thebeing sued by the predator.

You're being sued?Yeah, and our

deadline for response is today.

How many charges has occurred

during the time of being a hunter?

It's the first time I've ever been

sued.Uh-huh.

I've been threatened before,

a couple of times,

but this is the first time

it's actually happened.

Charges directly related to this,

too, I think.

Yeah.Because I was targeted by

a certain police department, but

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I can't prove that.

So probably two charges.

And I'm going to win this.

Yeah, it just sounds stressful

for me, man.

Yeah, it can be.It sounds mad.

I enjoy it.Yeah.Yeah.

I can tell you enjoy it. Yeah.

Tommy's called his faithful

together from across America

to celebrate their recent

conviction successes.

I'm interested in finding out

what draws them to Tommy.

What is it particularly about Tommy

as opposed to the other groups

that you were drawn to?

Well, this guy's cleaning up

our neighbourhood.

This guy's making it literally safer

for my kids to be here.

Um, he just earned my respect

right from the start.

Some people here have flown

over from other states.Yeah.

Why do you think that they're drawn

to how Tommy does it

as opposed to the other ones?

If you watch him,

you can see what he's doing.

He's not in this just for the clout.

You know?

He's got aDo you think there

are people that are in it

just for clout?Maybe.Yeah.Maybe.

Either way, I don't look down on it,

because what they're doing

is a good thing.Yeah, yeah, yeah.

It's God's work.

Thank you, Julie and Tommy,

for what you guys do

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

You kind of followed this person

through a screen

and then it's, like, actually

seeing it in real life.Yeah.

Have your feelings changed about

Tommy?He's a wild horse.

He doesn't run with the pack,

but in a good way.Mm.

He's a hero.Mm.

That's the way I see him.

He's a hero.

It kind of feels a bit likenot

in a negative way, but a celebrity.

Mm-hm.Do you know what I mean,

though?

You're talking about him

like a rock star.

We're invested.I can tell.

We're totally invested, you know?

We're hunting right along with him.

But I'm having a blast.

What about him made you so happy?

I'm a survivor.

FALTERING:And, um,

I really respect Tom.

And feeling vindicated

every time he catches one.Mm.

It's therapy. And I know it is

for so many people.

Do you feel like you've found

a community?

Oh, it's Absolutely.

It's a family.

OK, ready? That's perfect.

ALL: CPP!

APPLAUSE

Speaking with Janie, it's clear

that whilst people may be initially

drawn into the group by

a charismatic frontman, what often

cements their dedication

is a sense of belonging they find

with each other.

Remembering something Tommy said

when we first met, I'm interested

in digging deeper into his own

reasons for doing this.

One question I do want to ask you,

you sort of started to mention

about someone close to you,

something happened.

What happened exactly?

So, somebody very, very close to me

12 years ago now, um,

had this kind of same thing

happen to them.

Immediately, we called the police.

And that's kind of what started

all this.

I still tell people that was my

first catch.

I guess you felt powerless,

and your intention is to protect.

I remember the day when I asked

what happened,

and immediately the fear

in his eyes.

And I see that with the predators

when we catch them.

It's like they see their life

goinglike they're going

to go to jail. And to me,

it's almost like, "Ha-ha,

"you were going to do that

to somebody."

And I know that's probably not good

to think, but I do get satisfaction.

It makes more sense now.

You've seen how it can destroy.

Having that traumatic thing

happen to you.

Talking about it makes you feel

better.

A little better. Yeah, yeah.

They're monsters.

I like to see them scared,

because they deserve it.

But shouldn't be punishing people.

So I'm, like, split, even me.

I'll get hard on them, talking

mean to them. Then I feel bad.

I'm like, "I'm talking to a human

like this."

And so I do struggle with it

a little bit.

It sounds like your life's

confusing.For sure!

Yeah, that's no joke.Is that good

for you and is that sustainable?

It helps me more than it doesn't,

I would say.

I get tonnes of mail and stuff.

Somebody will reach out to me

and say, "Hey, you know,

"watching your videos helped me

cope through my thing."

I get a lot of satisfaction

knowing that.

Or people will say, "I wish you guys

were there when I was younger."

But if it helps one, and we know

we have, it would be worth it.

As I come to the end of my time

with paedophile hunters,

Skeet has been in touch.

He's managed to film his sting

with the wheelchair target.

If you want to see the footage

we got, I canI'd love to!

..walk you a bit through that. Yeah.

My name's Doyle from

Prestige Worldwide Press.

Oh, we just wanted

to interview you

about all of your accomplishments

He doesn't seem very smart.

And he's in a wheelchair.

VIDEO:We're doing a documentary,

basically about the hardships

of being, you know, people

being in wheelchairs and whatnot.

So and we know

At this point, he seems to be

buying the whole thing.

You think he believes you?

A little bit.

You know, just basically

just quick interview with you.

Would that be OK?

This would be your picture, right?

One of them, yeah?

Umand it looks like

Seem to be enjoying it.

It'sit's fun.

Oh, yeah. Yeah.

You're definitely gonna

be famous, for sure.

A 13-year-old girl that

you've been talking to.

Yeah.

Are you trying to not laugh?

Uh, I'm trying to.

What is it about it

that you find funny?

Like, what's the payoff?

I guess, like, it's like the

whole logic of the scenario,

like what's actually going on.Mm.

It's f*cking ridiculous.It is.

Yeah.Like,

I gotta be honest with you,

I'm trying to watch

this objectively.

It's f*cking mad

what's happening here.

Yeah.This is a whole

heap of f*cking madness.

Keep wheeling and dealing, I guess.

Well, oror don't.

Like, I think sometimes

because you do it so much,

you've become desensitised

to how mad this is.

Yeah.And do you ever worry

that it's going

to get out of hand too much?

Um, I mean, there's so

many different avenues

where this content

can be, like, approached.

Yeah.So I think it's

I've got a good long while

before it would get to that point.

Cos this is crazy to me.

Yeah, exactly.

If you're not used it

I'm not used to this.

So this for me is like,

this is wild.

BANJO MUSIC PLAYS

Cool, cool.

All right, so basically what's

happened is, um, I was sleeping,

um, and then I got

a phone call from the producer,

and she's rang me up,

and she says, "Get up.

"Get up." I said, "Wh-What?"

And I said, "What's going on, then?"

It's not a thing

that's nice to wake up to,

just knowing

you've got to go on a sting.

Out of everyone

I've spent time with on this trip,

Tommy and his followers

intrigue me the most.

Where'd you get a hat made

that says "paedophile hunter"?

Um, this was a gift

from my girlfriend,

who I also met through CPP.

She got it for my birthday,

but she also volunteers.

Well, you know what they say,

a couple that hunts together

stays together.

Ha-ha!

I think that's true.

People are obsessed with you.

Like, I've had people

message me now.Mm-hm.

They call you a cult leader.

That's why we make

the shirts and stuff.

That's why we did that.

Why is it that accusation,

out of all the accusations

you could throw at someone

Because they said that

people would come over here

and they wouldn't leave,

you know, they wouldn't leave.

I think it's because,

like I tell everybody everything,

they feel invested.

Uh, man, this is going

to be such a good catch.

He'd better show.

Do you ever get,

like, a sense of like that,

that he doesn't know that right now,

his whole life's about to change.

That's right, that's right.

And right now, we're

driving at a cruising speed.

My man's driving with one hand,

just chilling.

Yeah.And we're about to go

and just change his whole life.

It's a distinct feeling

that the predator has become prey,

and it's always butterflies

in my stomach, just feeling that.

He could be in any one

of those four bedrooms.

PHONE LINE RINGS

Hello?

It's Tommy with

Colorado Ped Patrol.

How are you doing, bud?

What I do is I talk to people who

try to meet with children online.

I haven't called the police,

but I would like to talk to you.

National, bro.

We're going to put you on Telemundo.

Uh, CNN.I'm serious, man.

I'm kidding about Telemundo, bro.

Uh, possibly. Yeah.

I mean, this is the

least of your problems, bro.

You could have the

police at your door,

and then you'd be in trouble.

I just want to talk to you.

We'll see you in five minutes.

All right.Bye.

He's pretty good.

Yeah, you're definitely, um

..you're definitely an expert

at what you're doing.

Are we on live here?

Is that him right there?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

I didn't do anything wrong.

You said right here, you said,

"You just turned 13. Girl,

you going to get me locked up."

For what?

What are you going

to get locked up for?

I know you're flipping out, bro, but

it's really, like, you created this.

I understand what I did wrong.

I get it.

Who could we talk to

make sure this really, truly

never happens again?

I would really like to talk

to baby mama, to be honest.

What are you looking for?

I just want to make sure

you don't do this again.

Yeah, it's really more

about accountability.

It's not a reaction

That's what we're looking for.

Hello.PHONE: Hello.

Hi, baby.Hi, baby.

I got some, uh, disappointing news,

and, uh, I'm not proud of it,

and I'm sorry.

Calling his baby mama.

I was on a dating site. She was 13.

INDISTINC

No, no, I didn't.

I didn't have sex.

No, he didn't, he didn't, ma'am.

My name is Tommy with

Colorado Ped Patrol.

He tried to set up a meet

with a girl that said she was 13.

PHONE: How recent was this?

Just this second. Right now.

PHONE: Wow.

I'm sorry, baby, I'm sorry.

PHONE: You know what? f*ck you!

Don't ever contact me again,

and I'm filing for

full custody of our son.

I'm sorry, man.

I mean, you're sorry,

but look what you're doing

to her and your baby.

Now, I got to work

on everything with her now,

if that's even possible.

ImagineI didn't want to

ruin everything for my son, man.

Listen, man. Imagine,

imagine this child's parent.

Think about you.I'm sorry.

You're right. I'm so sorry.

I can't stop you.

You can do whatever you want, man.

Have a nice day.

Hey, man, don't go on the

internet for the kids, all right?

How do you think that went?

It's sad, man.

It'swhen you do this,

you don't only hurt,

you know, the one person,

you hurt the whole family.

You know what I mean?

You hurt the whole family.

Now, you got baby mama, right?

You got

Who said he's working it out with.

Busy, busy. How are you?

So I'm Tommy with

Colorado Ped Patrol.

OK.

If you want to take a look at that.

All righty.

You got your ID with you?

I sure do.

OK.

OK, yeah.

Do you feel they're with you

or against you, the police?

Um, always against at first.

You think they're against you?

At first, yeah.

We get a lot of reaction

Why do you think they

don't want you doing this?

Because we're not law enforcement,

you know?

Um

Well, they do watch videos out

there where, you know,

people do have

bad interactions, right?

Like, they think we're

putting people in danger,

which that couldthat

could have got dangerous. Right?

Watching from Dublin, Ireland.

What's going on,

Pauline, how are you?

I'm gonna jump off

here real quick, guys.

Uh, but we got a catch tomorrow.

See you guys.

I'll leave this up a

little bit for you guys, too.

Bye.See you.

What do you think's going

through his head now?

He was definitely scared.

Yeah.

He was almost going to fall over.

As I entered the world

of online hunting,

I thought I'd be immersing myself

in the world of rivals,

niche fame, money and

a complex conversation of ethics.

Asking questions on the moral

nature of vigilantism

and finding out if the hunters

are the voice for the voiceless.

What I found, especially in the

case of Tommy and his followers,

are a group who seemed to find peace

in what looks to me like chaos.

Do people find catharsis

in the thing that caused them the

most pain, and does it heal them?

The true answer to those

questions is I don't know.

It never ends.No.

It's never, it never ends.

It will be slammed busy

as soon as you guys leave.

Watch, it's just the

way it goes, you know?

I enjoy it.

I know you do, I know you do.

I can tell.

I know it makes you happy,

what you're doing.

I hope you don't do this forever.

Yeah.Like I've done it for a week,

and I think I'm done.

Yeah?Yeah.

Yeah, I think I'm retiring.
