an island is a stressful situation.

It's gotten so bad out here.

We have no tools.
We have nothing.

If you don't adapt, then
you won't survive out here.

[Heather] I'm frustrated
and I'm fed up.

[crying] I've got bug bites all over
my face and my legs, my back side.

I'm bleeding everywhere.

This is hell.

[narrator] In the middle of
the South Pacific Ocean...

[Heather] What

[narrator] ...for
the first time ever,

a new generation of
nine elite survivalists...

I am the jungle queen.

the island for wreckage and debris...

to innovate new solutions.

It's dull. Just trying to get
an edge on it is pretty tough,

but, uh, let's see
what we can do.

We can use that to make fire.

It feels like this is a
whole new ball game.

And it is much harder.

[narrator] Who will adapt?

It's honestly, like, so
hard to comprehend.

You were repeatedly saying
that, well, it's never gonna work.

That's a lie.

[narrator] And how will
they escape to tell about it.

-[Andrew] It's a freaking boat, dude.
-[Patrick] Yup.

I just wanna get off of this [bleep]
island and I wanna go home.

[narrator] Hundreds of
miles from civilization...

the survivalists have been
formed into three teams...

based on the complementary skills they've
demonstrated in previous challenges.

Each team will begin on a
different part of the island,

but, by day 21, will have to
reach its northernmost point,

where international
shipping lanes

present their only chance
of signaling a boat for rescue.

Approaching from the south...

the team of Andrew, Heather,
and Patrick will be the first to shore,

where aggressive saltwater
crocodiles lie in wait.

Scary as hell. I'm
kinda freaking out.

Being a castaway out here is
probably gonna be the hardest challenge

that has ever been done.

I feel like g*y Robinson Crusoe.

[all laughing]

But I have felt two of the three
outcomes in this challenge.

I have more than
one tick in my butt.

One is being forced
out by a med tap.

[screams]

[grunting]

Two is choosing to
leave by tapping out.

This challenge kinda
broke me a little out here.

So I have to feel and discover
and experience that third option

which is to finish
this whole damn thing.

[Heather] We have no
idea where we're going.

We have no map,
we have no bearings.

So this is gonna be something
that I haven't dealt with before.

At least in Africa, I had a map.

We are so [bleep].

I am about to be
marooned on a desert island

with no tools to work with.

I know I'm walking
into hell right now.

Ow! It's burning.

To me, survival's kind of like a
Band-Aid on a shotgun wound.

At least the mud maybe can be
a coating temporarily on our feet.

And, uh, I've never been
one to bite my tongue.

Your answers are always so
condescending and aggressive.

-It's not condescending and aggressive.
-It's not necessary.

I think you're just a
hypersensitive person, period.

-You cried when we saw elephants.

It is what it takes and it takes what
it is, and that's what I'm gonna be.

This is, like, a
big shipping area,

so we might be able to find some good
debris and stuff washing up on shore

I hope that we strive for here
is, like, Swiss Family Robinson.

Like, work together
as a team to overcome.

What I don't want to happen is
us to turn into Lord of the Flies,

square miles of the Pacific Ocean,

the island's dense jungles crawl with
venomous coral snakes and pit vipers.

Extreme heat and humidity spawn
swarms of blood-sucking mosquitos,

chitras and sandflies.

And a deadly coastline of
shallow coral reefs prevent boats

from landing on shore.

[Patrick] We just stopped.

[laughing] Oh, no.

[Patrick] But we're not even
close to the freaking shore yet.

-It's go time.
-It's go time!

[all shouting]

-Oh, God.

[Heather] I'd like to say this is my
first time to get naked with two guys,

but it isn't.

I'm hoping to hell that I can
win the [bleep] out of this.

You know what I mean, I did it
for the first and second marriage,

so I'm sure I can
make it on this island.

-You ready?

miles to the north...

where deadly sea snakes patrol
the volcanic rock shoreline...

the team of Bulent, Kerra and
Na'im are next to enter the challenge.

[Kerra] It looks really scary.

I think this is as
real as it's gonna get.

An island in the middle of the
ocean with no tools, nothing.

You either make
it or you're history.

great thing to sign up for.

reputation for being a little salty.

but this is a guy
that's cut out of iron.

going to suffer fools very lightly.

Looks like we're gonna
have to swim from here, guys.

I'm a pilot, and, mentally, I prepare
for this every time I get into my airplane.

-Bag is empty.
-Nothing in this [bleep].

There's nothing in it.

[Kerra] Not even a map.

And the biggest challenge I
have to deal with gonna be sharks,

sandflies and millennials.

-Start swimming?
-Go on.

-Let's [bleep] do it.

But, you know, if I have to
eat a people, I'll eat people,

but I will survive.

[Kerra] Oh, my God.

[narrator] Six
miles to the west...

-Oh, gosh. This does not look super welcoming.

[narrator] ...the final team of
Candice, Rachel and Justin

approach the island's
opposite coast,

where vicious bull sharks
grow to over ten feet long,

and speckled caiman hunt in
the murky mangrove swamps.

[Rachel] Can you imagine
what's in these waters?

[Justin] You think a shark would
actually get us, or would it want to?

Definitely. I think there's also
crocodiles, which I'm extra nervous about.

I free-dive, so I spend a
lot of time under the water.

I am a free-dive instructor.

I can swim to 50
meters on one breath.

So I'm the ocean girl, you
know? This is my element.

But this is an
intense situation.

The fact that I have no
tools is very intimidating.

I can't believe we're
showing up with nothing.

I have a feeling there is more
dangerous things on this island than us.

Yeah, same.

I just wanna be a
strong team, so...

[Justin] Well, it's pretty
simple. Don't die. That's it.

[Candice] People
underestimate me all the time.

Like, they look at me and
they're, like, "Oh, she's not tough.

She's, like, a cute
little valley girl."

But I am pretty tough. Like,
I'm scrappy. I can survive.

That's how you do it, boys.

I guess we're swimming.

[Candice] So many different
thoughts running through my mind.

Like, if we do find water, how am I
gonna boil it to make sure it's clean?

Am I gonna risk it?

You know, and, then, not
having a knife or a machete,

like, how are we gonna cut
bamboo down to make our shelter?

Oh, gosh.

So, it's scary.

[Rachel and Candice]

We're nuts to do
this a second time.

-[Patrick] We're here.

I mean, immediately, there's
these little microscopic bugs

that wanna eat you, like
vampires that are all over the place.

They're little. I
didn't see them.

They're all over my leg.

[Andrew] Now what do we do?

We already got some
resources right here.

Looks like there's some
bottles to the left of you.

[Heather] Oh,
look. And a feather.

[Andrew] We can dry that
feather out and use it as tinder.

This is a true
survival situation.

Whatever I want or have
to use to make it out here,

I've gotta find it and
make it for whatever I need.

We need something
for a cutting tool.

Remember, keep that in your
mind, 'cause we gotta get some wood

so we can make a fire.

You've got shipwrecks,

people that have accidentally
dumped stuff over the side of their boats.

They're gonna be
washed up on these shores.

[Andrew] I wish I had a knife.

-[Heather] Yeah.
-[Patrick] Yeah.

[Andrew] But this
will come in handy.

We're gonna have
to do something.

[Bulent] Very strong.

[Na'im] We have just arrived on an
island after a pretty hellacious swim,

and this is as close to
hell as you can imagine.

-[Bulent] No water.

[Bulent] No animals.
Nowhere to lay.

I mean, there's
nothing here, man.

Couldn't even pitch a
shelter here if we wanted to.

[Kerra] I think there's something
over there that's, like, kind of shiny.

-[Bulent] I see some debris.

[Na'im] Yeah.

One of the biggest skills
that I bring into this challenge

is a very good
knowledge of bushcraft.

I mean, I'm a Black cowboy.

Teamwork makes
the dream work, baby.

I love building things
and trying things.

-Perfect. Yeah.

[Na'im] And I have a relentless
ability to problem-solve.

So I'm hoping
this works. [grunts]

to make it work.

up into the wood line

We start walking out of
the water and, immediately,

I'm noticing trash
along the shore.

-Ice chest.
-[Candice] Oh, nice.

My partners, they are both
young, attractive females,

but they are also badass.

The can kind of sucks.
There's holes on top.

-Oh, on top and bottom.
-Yeah.

-Like, I was hoping we could at least use it.
-I mean, it's like a seat.

-I mean, we could use it for a trap.
-Yeah.

[Justin] And, truth be told, I
don't know exactly how to survive,

but I'm a survivor.

I was in the Marine
Corps, I was a scout sn*per.

Now that I teach
and train jiu-jitsu...

it is legitimately in my
DNA to just be a warrior.

Instead of being scared, just
gotta be resourceful out here.

We've been out in
the ocean all day.

We're already hot. We're

make our way up the estuary

hoping that it's gonna lead us to
some kind of creek or fresh water source.

But we honestly don't know
because we have no map

and no idea what
we're walking into.

And the sun is relentless.

[Na'im] We're gonna
need to find water.

territorial wild boars scour the
island for food and fresh water.

We don't wanna

inside is almost like a cotton we can pull
apart that should be still be flammable.

If I don't have fire, the
chitras will eat me alive.

If I don't have fire, I can't
cook my food to eat it.

So I've got to make that
happen, no matter what.

We got some bottles.
Like, why don't we go

and try to find
some fresh water?

We need something, we're
gonna need something quick.

It's terrifying not
having a map.

We are here blind.

[Andrew] I know. That's my
only freak-out right now, is water.

walk into, so let's be mindful of this.

[Patrick] We've gone a long
way, you know, in this jungle.

But, you know, I'm an athlete
and I have a lot of stamina.

I backpack all
over North America.

Embrace the brutality.

Last year, backpacked
7,000 miles.

So, when other people
are gonna be tired

and won't be able to do things,

that's where I'll be
able to come in clutch.

But at least the

so, obviously, where there's

a lot of stuff that comes with this.

an old crashed car up here.

raid it and see what we can use.

-[Andrew] We might even be able to use it as shelter.

[Patrick] The metal looks kinda
rusty and frail. This is crazy.

[Heather] There's
a Jeep in the jungle.

An old military Jeep that's
probably older than my grandmother.

[Patrick] I see some big
pieces of glass over there.

[Andrew] Yeah, that's nuts.

Oh, I bet we could break that
glass and turn it into shards.

[Patrick] Yeah.

[Andrew] I think this car is from
some kinda military exercises,

which probably were done on
this island, like, 80 years ago.

So this has been sitting here for
eight decades, rotting and rusting.

I'm trying to now think of
it as some kinda resource.

Right now, we have,
you know, a water source.

We have a lot of items.

Why not do camp here?

We have some extra supplies
now that are too heavy to move far,

but we could use them
in different ways here.

We're under the canopy, so
we're protected from the sun,

we have water right there,

mosquitos aren't
so bad right now.

That is something that we
need to start worrying about,

'cause I'm suddenly seeing
the sun starting to settle.

I just wanna get a fire going. That's
what I'm really concerned about.

[Patrick] Okay.

[Heather] I get cold really
easily. Plus, there's bugs.

You know, they don't even
have mosquitos over here.

They have low-altitude
flying mini pterodactyls.

So we're gonna have
to have a fire source.

[Andrew] Let me see if I can break
that open and get a striker out of it.

[Kerra] I can feel
myself burn already.

-[Na'im] We've been walking forever.
-[Kerra panting]

[Bulent] If it was easy,
everybody would be doing it.

This one's drinkable to me.

Now that we've
found a water source,

I think we should continue on
and, really, just find our shelter.

much time anyway.

fresh enough for us to drink,

which is amazing, considering we
don't have a fire source yet to boil water.

So being able to find fresh
water is a lifesaver for us.

shelter and anything to protect you.

And we have no survival
tools, we have no weapons.

My previous
challenge in Zambia...

We have about 20 baboons.

...we had so much
terrifying wildlife around us.

[lion roaring]

After a couple of nights of just
shaking and having no sleep,

I went down this rabbit hole.

It's enough. I just
wanna go home.

And so this is for redemption.

I know I can do it.

It's really difficult
with no machete,

but we're just
basically sitting ducks

waiting for something
to come get us.

I already knew coming into this,

that bugs were
gonna be a struggle.

-[Candice] They're everywhere.
-[Rachel] Yeah, I'm trying to ignore them.

This sucks.

[Na'im] We've got
a swarm of chitras.

It's almost barely visible,
but packs a wallop.

It's horrible.

Non-stop.

I don't understand how something
so tiny can have such a big bite.

It's miserable.

[Heather] I'm getting
ate up, like, seriously.

No, they do feel
like little needles.

Like, honestly, it feels
like they're stabbing you.

They don't feel like a mosquito.

I am miserable.

The mosquitos, they've
came out in droves.

I think they even
called their cousins.

mean, it's just bad.

now for our bow drill fire set,

And I just don't have the
tools to split a log in half.

In a normal challenge...

splitting a log would take me
about, probably, 4.2 seconds.
