02x04 - We Went Looking for a Mandragora

Post by bunniefuu »

Azusa: This is such a nice shop, Eno!

Azusa: It's a huge change from when you were holed up in that cave!

Azusa: All your hard work paid off, huh?

Eno: All thanks to you, Azusa!

Eno: If I didn't have a mentor like you, I'm certain I'd still be brooding in that cave.

Eno: But now even my personality is much brighter and more assertive!

Eno: I can't even begin to express my respect for you!

Azusa: Oh, yeah?

Halkara: This bottle is great!

Halkara: The size is perfect for someone living alone!

Eno: Hey, Halkara! Don't steal other people's ideas!

Halkara: I wouldn't do that!

Halkara: I'll just use it as a reference.

Eno: That's literally what we call "stealing my idea"!

Azusa: Okay, okay, stop!

Azusa: I can't tell you to play nice since you're business rivals,

Azusa: but don't fight.

Eno: Oh, right. About the mandragora pills you wanted...

Eno: I have just the thing.

Eno: Ta-da! Fully mature mandragora pills!

Azusa: Fully mature mandragora pills?

Eno: Yes. They're normally made with three-year-old mandragoras,

Eno: but these are made with ten-year-old mandragoras!

Eno: It's a rare product that can only be made in small quantities!

Azusa: And you're okay with giving it to me?

Eno: Please, it's all yours!

Eno: I'll make something even more amazing someday!

Eno: Like super-high-quality, even more mature

Eno: mandragora pills made from -year-old mandragoras!

Azusa/Halkara: Three hundred years old?!

Eno: Yes! They're the rarest of the rare!

Eno: To make medicine from -year-old mandragoras is every witch's dream!

Azusa: Is that so?

Eno: Apparently, mandragoras evolve in some crazy way when they've lived years!

Eno: They can move around on their own

Eno: and even speak in human language!

Halkara: Isn't it a totally different lifeform at that point?

Azusa: That can't really be...

Title: I've Been k*lling Slimes for Yearsand Maxed Out My Level Season

We Went Looking for a Mandragora

Main - Top,Eno: Are you serious?!

Main - Top,Eno: Where?! Where did you see it?!

Azusa: Okay, just calm down, Eno.

Azusa: It might have been some kind of mistake.

Azusa: And if we're going to go look there, we need permission.

Azusa: The land is privately owned.

Halkara: Oh, I know what you're talking about! Beelzebub's garden, right?

Eno: Beelzebub? The demon Minister of Agriculture?!

Halkara: That wasn't so much a garden as an entire forest.

Halkara: Nothing we find there would surprise me.

Eno: The shop's closed for the day! Please leave now!

Eno: Faster, wyvern!

Azusa: Oh, boy. She's already gone.

Azusa: Is a -year-old mandragora that exciting?

Halkara: I'm sure there are many witches who'd love to have one.

Halkara: Personally, I'd keep my distance from it, but...

Azusa: Really? Why?

Halkara: Well, it's a creature that talks and moves around.

Halkara: An elf could never turn something like that into medicine.

Azusa: Wait, making medicine from it just means

Azusa: borrowing a few of its leaves or something, right?

Halkara: I believe you'd have to crush up the entire thing.

Azusa: Wake up, Flatorte!

Azusa: I need you to fly right now!

Beelzebub: So you took off after her in a hurry, but lost her?

Beelzebub: You probably just passed her somewhere.

Flatorte: How careless of us.

Beelzebub: In any case, I understand the situation.

Beelzebub: If I see any strange witches on the grounds,

Beelzebub: I shouldn't do anything to them, right?

Azusa: Also, I'd like you to protect that mandragora if you can.

Beelzebub: Protect a walking plant from that garden?

Beelzebub: That sounds like a real hassle.

Main - Top,Witches: Beelzebub!

Main - Top,Witches: Please open up!

Beelzebub: Wh-What is going on here?!

Main - Top,Witches: Hello!

Main - Top,Witches: Hello in there!

Main - Top,Witches: Good day to you!

Eno: I apologize for dropping by unannounced!

Eno: I heard there was a -year-old mandragora here

Eno: and couldn't just sit around!

Eno: I've come to get my hands on it, even if it means breaking some laws!

Azusa INT: She just declared her intent to commit a crime!

Beelzebub: Go away! Why are there so many of you, anyway?!

Eno: To make sure we find the mandragora!

Eno: I gathered witches from all over the land

Eno: with an agreement to share the mandragora once we find it!

WitchA: This is any witch's greatest wish!

WitchB: It's the most promising lead I've found in a century of searching!

Halkara: They want it that badly?

Flatorte: Their enthusiasm is incredible...

Eno: Strike while the iron's hot! Begin the operation!

Beelzebub: Hey! Hold it!

Azusa: Stop this, Eno!

Eno: I'm sorry, Azusa!

Eno: It must be done if we're to make the best medicine in the world!

Eno: Bye!

Azusa: You said you couldn't begin to express your respect for me!

Beelzebub: Okay, I've had it!

Beelzebub: I'll burn the whole garden to ashes!

Azusa: Don't do that! You'll burn the mandragora, too!

Azusa: We'll just have to find the mandragora before Eno and her group does!

Flatorte: We won't let them win!

Azusa: Be careful. We don't know what might live in this garden.

Azusa: And Halkara—

Azusa: You're caught already!

Halkara: Huh?

Halkara: Oh, no! When did this happen?!

Halkara: Hey! My clothes!

Flatorte: Wow, her clothes are melting.

Halkara: Ow!

Halkara: Thank you so much.

Azusa: I thought your knowledge of forests might help us here.

Azusa: Maybe I should've had you stay behind.

Halkara: Master...

Halkara: There's no sign of the mandragora passing this way.

Halkara: This moss doesn't look like it's been stepped on at all.

Halkara: And this tree is a type that grows very thick roots,

Halkara: so it would be difficult for anything to move underground.

Flatorte: Which means...

Azusa: If we rule out the areas near this type of tree,

Azusa: we can figure out where it is!

Azusa: Thanks, Halkara! You're really on fire today!

Halkara: No, really, it was nothing...

Azusa: You're caught again!

Halkara: Eek! When did that happen?!

Flatorte: You might as well just strip naked!

Azusa: You know she can't do that!

Eno: I knew following her would be a good idea!

Flatorte: Does this area seem suspicious?

Halkara: Yes. My elven senses are screaming.

Halkara: There's no doubt about it.

Eno: Is that so?

Azusa: Eno!

Azusa: You followed us?!

Halkara: Who was it that told me not to steal people's ideas?

Flatorte: That's playing dirty!

Eno: A -year-old mandragora is every witch's dream.

Eno: I'll do whatever it takes.

Eno: Doesn't the same go for you?

Eno: You want to get that mandragora

Eno: for maximum honor and glory as a witch, do you not?

Azusa: A mandragora that can walk and talk isn't just a plant anymore!

Azusa: It's the same as us!

Azusa: I can't sit around and let a life like that be taken!

Eno: It seems neither of us is willing to yield.

Eno: But no matter what you say, I'm getting that mandragora!

Azusa: This is bad! There are too many of them!

Halkara: They're going to find it before we do!

Eno: The moment of destiny is at hand!

Eno: Everyone, fight!

Azusa: We have to find it quick!

Flatorte: Hey! Get out here, mandragora!

Azusa: As if it's gonna show up if you do that!

Halkara: Wait... You're sure this mandragora spoke, right?

Halkara: And it ran away when it realized you were a witch, right?

Azusa: Yeah.

Halkara: In that case...

Halkara: Mandragora! You're in trouble!

Halkara: You're about to get caught and turned into medicine!

Halkara: The only way to survive is to let this Witch of the Highlands here,

Halkara: Lady Azusa, assume custody of you!

Azusa: Now, come and leap into Lady Azusa's bosom!

Eno: Found it!

WitchA: Wait!

Main - Top,WitchB: It's fast!

WitchC: Whoa!

Sandra: H-Help me!

Azusa: I'm taking this girl into my care!

Text: I've Been k*lling Slimes for Yearsand Maxed Out My Level Season

Azusa: I'm taking this girl into my care!

Azusa: If anyone has a problem with that, bring it on!

Eno: Azusa, are you sure about this?

Eno: That's a genuine -year-old mandragora.

Azusa: Sorry about this.

Sandra: Hey! What are you doing?!

Azusa: Let me ask you something, Eno.

Azusa: Can you crush up an innocent little girl like this and make her into medicine?

Eno: When you put it that way...

Eno: I was imagining something with a more monstrous form.

Eno: I never thought it'd be a cute little girl like this.

Azusa: Right?

WitchA: Yeah, she's cute.

WitchB: She actually is.

Main - Top,WitchC: No matter how long I've dreamed of this...

WitchD: I can't make her into medicine.

Eno: Well, either way, you're the one who caught her first.

Eno: We have no right to do anything.

Azusa: Then let's call this matter settled.

Sandra: Hang on.

Sandra: Here.

Eno: What?! I can have that?!

Sandra: My roots are my body, so I can't give you that,

Sandra: but I can always regrow my leaves.

Sandra: But in return, you have to promise you won't come after me!

Eno: Understood!

Eno: Eno, Witch of the Cave, will never come after you again!

Azusa: I guess the matter really is settled now.

WitchA: So this is the leaf of a -year-old mandragora!

WitchB: The real deal!

Beelzebub: Hold it.

Beelzebub: I'm giving you this.

Eno: What is it?

Beelzebub: An invoice for reparations

Beelzebub: for trespassing on private property and ransacking my garden.

Beelzebub: If you fail to pay, I will have to take other measures.

Beelzebub: I'm the one who's been put through the most trouble here.

Azusa: She's so calculating.

Halkara: Anyway, I think the matter really is settled now.

Azusa: Halkara was the real MVP this time!

Azusa: If you hadn't done what you did, Eno's group might've caught this kid.

Halkara: Well, when it comes to plants, you can always count on an elf!

Sandra: I hate them.

Halkara: Wha?

Sandra: I hate elves.

Azusa: Huh?!

Sandra: 'Cause they pick plants.

Halkara: W-Well, yes, but I wouldn't hurt a living being like you!

Sandra: Just the fact that you're an elf scares me.

Sandra: Don't come near me.

Sandra: Grr... Rawr!

Halkara: Eek!

Azusa: So they're your natural enemy, huh?

Azusa: I guess you really are a plant.

Sandra: I am! I lived a long time, and before I knew it, I looked like this.

Beelzebub: So what are you going to do now?

Beelzebub: I wouldn't mind if you were to return to the garden.

Sandra: Well, it's not that much fun here.

Sandra: There's not much sunlight,

Sandra: and it's nutritionally deficient.

Sandra: So if there's a safer place to live, I wouldn't mind moving.

Azusa: Want to live with me, then?

Azusa: I have a field in my yard, so you won't need to hold back.

Sandra: And it's a good environment for plants to grow?

Azusa: I don't think any witches would come around looking for you.

Azusa: And it's in the highlands, so you'd get lots of sunlight.

Sandra: Th-Then I guess I'll give it a try.

Sandra: Take me with you.

Halkara: Yay! Our family's growing!

Sandra: Who are you calling "family"?!

Sandra: Don't throw me together with an elf!

Sandra: Rawr!

Halkara: I'm sorry!

Azusa: Well, see you later, Beelzebub.

Halkara: Sorry for all the trouble.

Beelzebub: Indeed.

Beelzebub: And be well, um...

Beelzebub: Come to think of it, I don't know your name.

Sandra: I don't have one. I never needed a name.

Flatorte: Then the great Flatorte will name you!

Flatorte: Since you're a mandragora...

Flatorte: "Drago."

Sandra: Don't give me a name that sounds like a dragon's name!

Sandra: Are you dumb?!

Flatorte: Excuse me?!

Halkara: Well... how about "Giant Running Mandragora"?

Sandra: You be quiet, elf!

Sandra: Rawr!

Halkara: I'm sorry! I'm sorry!

Beelzebub: Can't you use something simple like "Grass "?

Sandra: Out of the question! Rawr! Rawr!

Azusa: We need some kind of starting point.

Azusa: Is there anything you like?

Sandra: Dirt, water, and sand!

Azusa: Dirt, water, and sand, huh?

Azusa INT: Sand... Well, that's pretty straightforward.

Azusa INT: Sand... Sand...

Azusa INT: Sandra?

Azusa: Sandra! Your name is Sandra!

Sandra: Sandra?

Halkara: Oh, that's very cute!

Flatorte: It has a nice ring to it!

Sandra: Sandra...

Sandra: W-Well, I suppose I have no choice but to live with it.

Azusa: Hey, Sandra.

Sandra: What?

Azusa: There's something I'd like you to promise me before we reach my house in the highlands.

Sandra: What's that?

Azusa: Get along with my family.

Azusa: You can argue every now and then, but you must always make up.

Sandra: Fine. I'll try my best.

Falfa/Shalsha: Yay!

Falfa: Nice to meet you! I'm Falfa!

Shalsha: I'm her younger sister, Shalsha. Welcome.

Azusa: Go on, Sandra.

Sandra: Nice to meet you.

Rosalie: Looks like she's just a bit younger than these two.

Shalsha: I'm a big sister!

Azusa INT: Sandra is actually a whole lot older, though...

Laika: Everyone, dinner is ready!

Azusa: Come eat with us, Sandra.

Sandra: I don't need to.

Azusa: Huh?!

Sandra: The only food I need is water.

Sandra: Then I just need sunlight to photosynthesize.

Laika: That makes sense...

Azusa: Which room would you like?

Azusa: You can share Falfa and Shalsha's if you want.

Sandra: Your vegetable garden will be fine.

Sandra: I'm more comfortable on dirt. I'll sleep there, too.

Flatorte: Well, she's definitely a plant.

Falfa/Shalsha: Thanks for dinner!

Azusa: You both left your vegetables untouched again.

Falfa: I'm already full.

Shalsha: Me, too.

Azusa: No, you need to eat your vegetables.

Sandra: You can't blame them. They're yucky.

Azusa: Sandra...

Azusa: What... d-did you just...

Sandra: The vegetables here are yucky.

Azusa: C-Come on!

Azusa: How can you tell when you haven't even eaten them?!

Sandra: When you've been a plant as long as I have, you can tell.

Halkara: They're not... that bad, are they?

Laika: No, I don't think so!

Flatorte: I can enjoy anything I eat!

Rosalie: I've never eaten them, so I can't say.

Azusa: You guys aren't helping at all...

Sandra: Don't get all sad about it just yet.

Sandra: If you really want to make these two eat vegetables,

Sandra: I have an idea.

Azusa: Really?!

Sandra: Cabbage and carrots should be just about ready to harvest now.

Sandra: I'll help you.

Sandra: Then...

Sandra: the quality of the food you eat here will go up a level.

Sandra: The most basic need for plants is always dirt.

Sandra: They like soft, fluffy soil that's full of air and has good drainage.

Sandra: Then till that soil with compost that's full of organic matter.

Sandra: And don't forget to spread some lime.

Falfa: Lime?

Shalsha: Please explain why.

Sandra: To make the soil slightly acidic, making it easier for veggies to grow.

Sandra: From there, you just need me to bring plenty of nutrients to them.

Flatorte: How are you doing that, exactly?

Sandra: That's a secret.

Sandra: And now it's finally time to harvest.

Sandra: Just look at how these veggies shine! Don't they look happy?

Sandra: Anyway, that's what you get when you have my help.

Azusa: It's done!

Azusa: Fried carrots, carrot potage,

Azusa: and stir-fried cabbage and carrots!

Halkara: They all look delicious!

Falfa: There's no meat in any of it.

Shalsha: This is food for adults.

Shalsha: I don't think children like us are ready for it yet.

Azusa: Aw, just give it a try. What have you got to lose?

Shalsha: I don't want to live with the memory that you tried to make us lose something.

Azusa INT: That was a sharp comeback!

Sandra: I'm sure they're delicious.

Sandra: You grew them with lots of love, after all.

Falfa: When you say they're full of love...

Shalsha: ...we have no choice but to eat them.

Falfa: Oh, yeah! I can eat this!

Falfa: They're veggies, but they taste so sweet!

Shalsha: Perhaps I was mistaken about what vegetables truly were.

Azusa: Yay! My daughters got over their hatred of vegetables!

Laika: Sorry for the wait!

Laika: This is pound cake made with lots of carrots.

Flatorte: Have it for dessert!

Azusa: Thanks, Sandra!

Sandra: You don't need to thank me.

Sandra: I'll be in your care from now on,

Sandra: so I need to be at least a bit useful...

Azusa: Come to think of it, there's one other rule

Azusa: for our house in the highlands that I forgot to tell you.

Azusa: It's to always remember to smile. Okay?

Azusa: I'm so glad to have you with us, Sandra!

Sandra: I'm glad to be here... Azusa.

Days in the Highlands

Azusa/Falfa/Shalsha: Days in the Highlands!

Azusa: You should tend to that garden every now and then.

Beelzebub: Not a problem. I've found new help, after all.

Azusa: Huh?

Beelzebub: Keep working until you can pay me back!

Azusa: Hangover?

Sandra: You leave me no choice.

Pluck!

Halkara: I feel much better!

Sandra: You'd better be grateful.

Halkara: Now, time for another drink!

Azusa/Sandra: Really?!
