[meowing]

- No, T-rex. You can't be up here right now.

[Rae]: Hi, Dev.

Your grandmother let us in.

- Oh, hey, Rae. Hi, Cora.

- You ready for a little Skillsville?

[Dev]: Almost. I'm just working on this model.

- Oh, it's a model of um...

A submarine?

- It's a cargo plane.

Like the one my mom flies.

I've built models like this before.

But I can't figure out where these pieces go.

[meowing]

- It looks like T-rex wants to help.

- She keeps jumping up here so she can look out the window.

Down, T-rex.

- Who doesn't she jump on your toy box?

It's right in front of the window.

- She's tried before, but she always falls in.

And she can't fit on the window sill.

My desk gives her the best view, basically.

- Well, anyway, are we going to play?

- Totally! I can finish this model later.

[all]: Launch Skillsville! [meowing]

- Devosaurus!

[growling]

ParCora!

[grunting]

Racer Rae!

- Whoo!

- Welcome to Skillsville!

- Uh... where's Scout?

- Scout! [Scout]: I'm over here!

Just follow the river!

- We're on our way.

Let's go.

[upbeat music]

[mooing]

- Oh, good. I'm so glad you came.

[grunting] I've got my paws full here.

- What's going on?

- Well, Beeples on both sides of the river want to get across.

Whoa!

- And the only way is by boat?

- Yes, but my boat can only safely fit one Beeple at a time.

Ah! And the wind is steering this boat more than I am.

[beeping]

[chuckling] Yes, thank you.

They have places to go and Beeples to see.

- They really need a better way to get across the river.

Seems like there should be a bridge.

Oh, Dev, you like building things.

- Hey, yeah! Maybe I can make a bridge.

- Oh, great idea. Yeah, let's do it. Right now.

If not sooner. Please!

Next!

[beeping]

I am trying. Uh, Dev, you're gonna need this.

[dinging]

- Ooh, a hard hat!

I'm ready.

- It's time for the Civil Engineer Challenge.

- Civil engineer?

What do they do?

- Design a bridge that goes from one side of the river

to the other!

- I get to design it?

Yes!

- And we'll help you build it.

- Great!

Let's see what kind of building materials

are in the game inventory.

[mumbling]

Ah-ha!

There are straight pieces and triangular pieces.

[beeping]

- Could you make quick? There are a lot of Beeples waiting.

- Okay, Civil Engineer Dev.

Tell us what to do.

- Let's start with a couple of straight pieces.

[beeping]

Now connect them end to end.

- Like this?

- Yup! Let's add a few more.

[beeping]

Good. Now just swipe it into place over the river.

[whooshing]

- We have a bridge.

- Who wants to test it out first?

- Oh, I do!

[chuckling] Check it out, Beeples.

Now you can walk across the river yourselves.

Thanks to this bridge. [voice shaking]

[shakingly]: Bridge!

- Oh no!

- Bridge fail. [error notification]

- Oh, we really needed that bridge.

[panicked beeping]

Oh-oh! [panicked beeping]

Oh, no... Three Beeples in the boat?

Be careful! The wind is too strong!

- I can't believe the bridge fell.

I don't know what I did wrong. I need to pause!

[grunting]

The bridge has to be strong.

So it's safe for lots of Beeples to cross.

But my bridge wasn't even strong enough to hold Scout.

- Let's get organized and make a plan.

- I'm sure you'll figure it out, Dev.

You really are good at building things.

- But I build small models not big bridges.

[gasping] Hey!

What if I build a model of the bridge?

Just a small version.

Then, I can plan out how to make a strong bridge

before anyone goes on it.

- Good idea!

- Making a model sounds like a great strategy.

- Now I know what to do.

Unpause!

[Scout]: Ah! [screaming]

Oh, phew. [chuckling nervously]

Whoa, let's leave the boating to the experts.

[beeping]

- Okay.

I'm going to plan out how to design this bridge

by making a model.

- Game reset.

- Straight pieces weren't strong enough on their own.

So maybe I'll try adding some triangular pieces.

I'll put the back to back like this.

- Hey, that looks more like a bridge.

- You think it'll be strong enough?

[Cora, Dev]: Hmm...

- The spaces between the triangles could make it weak.

It might collapse.

- We don't want that to happen again.

- Maybe it needs more triangles.

Like this.

[screen beeping]

- Ooh, that looks good.

- Now let's see what happens when I press down on it.

[boing-boing]

[success notification]

Oh, the bridge is strong!

- Way to go, Dev.

- Making a model really helped me plan out

how the bridge should be made.

- Now we just have to build the bridge to match the model.

[Scout: Uh... Is it possible to get sea sick on a river?

- Let's do this!

[upbeat music]

[screen beeping]

Okay. Put the triangles back to back.

Like in the model.

[dinging]

Okay, now the next two.

[dinging] Next!

[screen beeping] [dinging]

Good!

Turn it the other way.

[dinging]

Great! Now swipe it into place!

[whooshing]

Alright!

Making a model helped me plan it out.

- The bridge looks pretty strong.

- Let's test it!

Race you.

[upbeat music]

It stays up!

- You thought of everything, Dev.

[Scout]: Uh, not everything.

I don't think we're gonna fit under that bridge.

Whoa!

[blowing]

[tense music]

[clanking] [voice trembling]

[error notification]

- Oh no, bridge too low.

- I made a bridge Beeples could walk on,

but now it's a problem for boats!

- Civil Engineer Challenge Level two:

Improve your design so boats can pass under the bridge.

- How am I going to do that?

- What about using your strategy again?

- Oh yeah! I'll plan it out with the model.

The bridge is strong,

but how do I make it higher?

- What if I put triangles under the bridge like this?

[screen beeping] And we can add ramps here

and here!

- Now that looks strong.

- It is!

Now the bridge can be nice and high.

So boats can pass underneath.

- Now we can do the same on the real bridge.

- Just follow the plan.

Make these two triangles into a square.

Good!

Now do that again. Yes!

Now swipe them into place.

[whooshing]

[loud thumping]

And add the ramps.

[screen beeping]

[whooshing]

[dinging]

That looks awesome!

Am I right?

- But will the boat fit underneath?

- We're about to find out.

Whoa. Oh boy...

Whoa, ah! Wha!

Huh?

Woo-hoo!

[cheering]

- You are model gamers.

Civil Engineer Challenge complete!

[clear throat]

- Attention, Beeples,

my boat is now closed for business.

Because the bridge is now open!

[beeping cheerfully]

Now to sail off into the sunset.

Whoa!

Later, Gamers!

- Bye, Scout. - Bye, Scout.

- Great game, everyone.

- Look where T-rex is.

- Sorry, dino-kitty.

I know you just want to look out the window,

but maybe you can!

If I build you something.

- Something like what?

- Let's plan it out with a model.

Pretend this is my window,

this is my toy box,

and this T-rex is T-rex!

If she jumps onto my toy box,

she'd fall right in.

Maybe I just need something to cover the toy box.

Then T-rex could jump right onto it

and see out the window.

- That's a great model.

So, what can we use to cover the toy box?

- How about this board game?

It fits! Now let's test it out.

Come here, T-rex.

- Wow, it works!

- She can see right out the window!

- What do you think, T-Rex?

[meowing]

[chuckling] I think that means she likes it.

[laughing]

[upbeat music]

[grunting]

- Ah-ha!

[drone buzzing]

- I'll get it! [panting]

[grunting]

What are you two looking at?

- That.

[buzzing]

- Whoa! A drone! That is so...

- Cool!

You should've seen it, Mom.

- That drone was super fast.

- You know, drones aren't just toys.

Some people fly drones as a job.

- What? That can be a job?

[chuckling] - Yeah.

People use drones to deliver things

or find things from up high.

In fact, people who play video games

tend to be good drone operators.

- Really?

- I bet it would be fun to fly a drone that goes that fast.

- Well, I happen to know a certain video game I made

where you can see what that's like.

- We can be drone operators in Skillsville!

- Ooh, yeah! Let's play.

[upbeat music]

[all]: Launch Skillsville!

- ParCora!

[grunting]

- Racer Rae!

- Whoo!

- Devosaurus!

[grunting]

- Welcome to Skillsville.

- Hi, hey, hello!

[all]: Hey, Scout.

- What are we playing today?

[Rae, Cora]: Drone operator.

- Great idea! Let's do it!

Who's got the skills to get the job done?

[both]: I do!

- Oh, double the fun.

Well, then, you're both gonna need this.

[dinging]

- Ah, this controller looks complicated.

We have to figure out how it works.

- Let's just try it and see what happens.

[beep]

[drone buzzing] - Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Whoo, missed me by a whisker.

- Go, go, go!

- It's gone, gone, gone.

- Let's go after it. Come on!

- Whoa, whoa, whoa! [screaming]

- There's gotta be a way to stop it.

There.

- This is why

we should learn how to control the drone first.

Let's see...

Forward, back.

Up.

Down.

- Wow! This drone is almost as good at flying as I am.

- Drone Operator Challenge.

Make a special delivery.

- Ooh. I wonder what kind of delivery.

[upbeat music]

[beeping cheerfully]

- Pizza delivery!

- One of the tastiest deliveries there is.

Oh, the smell.

[clears throat] [beeping angrily]

- Okay, okay. I will.

This is for some Beeples who are having a pizza party

on Pool Floatie Island.

- That's in the middle of the lake.

But a drone can get the pizza there.

- To deliver the pizza,

you must fly the drone through the Cotton Candy Fores,

across the lake,

to Pool Floatie Island!

- Those Cotton Candy trees are going to be sticky.

So we'll have to be careful.

- No problem.

I'm sure we can skip right through the forest.

Now, how do we grab that pizza? Ah-ha!

[drone whirring]

- Nice! - One more thing.

The pizza must arrive hot and fresh.

- I guess that thermometer tells us the pizza's hot.

- I'll get this hot pizza delivered in no time.

- Let's go!

- Express delivery is on the way!

- Be careful.

[electronic music]

[Dev]: Whoa, watch out!

- You're going too fast.

[tense music]

[Scout]: Close one.

[relaxed music]

[drone buzzing] [beeping]

[beeping sadly]

- Pizza delivery incomplete.

- What happened?

I got the drone to the island so fast.

- The drone made it there,

but the pizza didn't.

- That's because you were going too fast.

You have to go slowly and carefully

around the Cotton Candy trees.

So you don't get stuck.

- All those Beeples, pizza-less.

- Ah, what am I gonna do?

- Try again! Game reset.

- Um, are you sure I can't have one teeny-tiny slice?

[beeping angrily]

Oh... [whining]

- Deliver the pizza hot and fresh.

- I'll get it there this time.

- You had a chance. Now it's my turn.

Whirring]

- Now deliver to Pool Floatie Island.

- Here we go.

Slowly and carefully.

- This could take a while.

[drone buzzing]

[tense music]

- Come on. Can't you go faster?

- I've got to go slowly and carefully

through the Cotton Candy Forest.

[tense music]

- It's out of the forest and at the lake!

- Finally!

- You can zip right to Pool Floatie Island!

- You can never be too careful.

Slow and steady.

[groaning]

[tense music]

[beeping cheerfully]

[beeping sadly]

[error notification]

- Pizza problem.

- What? I got the pizza to Pool Floatie Island!

- Pizza was delivered but not hot and fresh.

- That's because you flew the drone so slowly

that the pizza got cold.

- I was being careful.

At least I got the pizza there.

- Well, I bet I could do it this time.

- But I want to try again. - No, wait, I can do it.

- It's my turn. - I need another try.

- That's not fair [Dev]: Hang on.

This isn't working.

We need to pause.

[dinging]

Let's get organized and come up with a plan.

- I have a plan. We fly the drone fast.

- No, the plan should be we fly it slowly and carefully.

- Maybe there's a way to do both.

How about you compromise?

- Compromise?

- Yeah. Cora, you're good at flying the drone carefully

around the Cotton Candy trees.

And Rae, you can do what you're good at

and fly the drone fast across the water.

- Compromising is a good strategy.

- Yeah, we could compromise and take turns.

- Great! We have a plan.

So, are you two good now.

- We're good. - Yeah.

- Okay, unpause!

- We try again, but the plan is we compromise.

- Game reset.

[upbeat music]

- Oh... Just one slice?

I am a growing pupper-fly.

[beeping]

- You know the drill.

Deliver the pizza hot and fres.

- You're up first, Cora.

Get us through that Cotton Candy Forest carefully.

- Okay, but I won't go too slowly this time.

[whirring]

- Scout, let's follow the drone to make sure it gets there.

- I like your thinking.

[buzzing]

- You can do this, Cora. Oh... Easy.

[tense music]

- Cora got it through the forest.

- Now onto Pool Floatie Island.

- Your turn, Rae.

Get that pizza across the lake quickly before it gets cold.

- Not a problem.

[buzzing] [beeping cheerfully]

[beeping triumphantly]

- Pizza delivered. Hot and fresh.

- Yes! - Yeah.

- Way to go, Rae.

- We did it, our plan worked.

- Come on, let's go catch up with Dev and Scout.

[beeping happily]

[beeping]

- Oh, no. The pizza's floating away.

- Ah, it's way out there in the lake.

- Drone Operator Challenge Level two:

Save the pizza!

[both]: I'll do it.

- We've gotta get to the pizza fast.

- But it's important to be careful.

- Somebody's gotta do something.

There is a pizza out there all alone

with nobody eating it!

- Wait, we can use our strategy and compromise.

- Good idea, Rae.

You can go first.

You need to get to that pizza fast.

- And then you could take over the controls

to pick the pizza up carefully.

- Great plan!

- Let's do this.

- Go, Rae, go!

[upbeat music]

- Okay, Cora. You're up.

Easy...

Carefully...

[♪♪]

[whirring]

- You've got it!

- The pizza is heading back to the Beeples.

- You saved the pizza!

And delivered hot and fresh.

- Drone Operator Challenge complete!

[cheering] [Scout howling]

- For me? [beeping positively]

Woof-hoo!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. [grunting]

- Hmm... - Bye, Scout.

- Goodbye. - See ya next time.

- Later, Gamers!

- Hey, kids. So how was the game?

- It was epic!

Being a drone operator is fun.

- Especially when we do it together.

- I really worked up an appetite.

Is anyone else in the mood for... pizza?

- Ooh. I am. - Yes!

- Yup. I can order a pizza.

What kind of toppings would you like?

- Pepperoni. - Extra cheese, please.

- Green peppers.

- Wait, we need to get organized.

- Let's compromise.

- Yeah, we could get half pepperoni, half peppers,

and extra cheese on all of it.

[chuckling] - Sounds like a plan.

- I hope it arrives hot and fresh.

- And doesn't get stuck in a Cotton Candy tree.
