CARL: The Lost Yo-Yo
NICO: [laughing] I got you!
ARUGULA: Wow, Forrest. You've gotten so good at juggling!
FORREST: I know! Watch this!
FORREST: Ta-da!
NICO/ARUGULA/CARL: Whoa!/Wow!/Wow!
NICO: Woo-hoo! Yeah! Good job!
NICO: Carl, you should show them your new yo-yo trick!
CARL: The one I was teaching you yesterday?
NICO: Yeah! With wah-wah-and-a-W NICO: Yeah! With wah-wah-and-a-W
CARL: It's actually “wah-and-a-W CARL: It's actually “wah-and-a-W
CARL: But, yes! Lemme show you. It's a special trick I
CARL: can only do with my medium fuchsia yo-yo.
CARL: I'll go get it!
CARL: [from inside house] Oh, no!
CARL: My medium-sized fuchsia yo-yo is missing!
FORREST: Oh, no!
ARUGULA: That's terrible!
NICO: Are you sure? You never misplace things!
CARL: I'm sure. I've gone through my entire yo-yo
CARL: collection!
CARL: It's totally disappeared...
NICO: Where did you see it last?
CARL: I had it yesterday.
CARL: You and I were playing out and I was showing you
CARL: how to walk the dog with the yo-yo. That's the
CARL: name of the yo-yo trick, there wasn't a real dog.
CARL: We yo-yo'd until it was almost dinner, when it got too
CARL: cold and you went home. We said goodbye and promised
CARL: to meet up tomorrow,
CARL: which is now today, to play.
CARL: Then you and you came over And that brings us up to
CARL: right now.
NICO: Yup! It happened just like that.
ARUGULA: If it happened just like that, the yo-yo is
ARUGULA: probably still here somewhere...
FORREST: Yeah! Yo-yos don't just wander off!
NICO: Is there something we can do to help?
CARL: I don't think so. Thanks for coming over, but I need a
CARL: minute to myself.
ARUGULA: No worries, buddy. Let us know if you find it!
NICO/ARUGULA/FORREST: Bye, Carl!
NICO: We've gotta help Carl find his yo-yo!
FORREST: Yeah! I can run around the neighborhood super
FORREST: fast!
NICO: I've got an even better idea! We just
NICO: need to look for clues to find the yo-yo. We're gonna
NICO: be...
NICO: Lost and Found Detectives!
NICO: We look great!
NICO: I'll be the lead detective on this case.
NICO: The Case of the Missing Yo-Yo.
NICO: We need to look for any ti clue, and write everything
NICO: down.
FORREST: It would help if we knew exactly what we were
FORREST: looking for.
ARUGULA: Nico, since you were playing with the yo-yo
ARUGULA: yesterday, can you desc it and I'll draw it?
NICO: Or...I can describe it and you can draw it.
ARUGULA: That's what I said -
NICO: I'll tell you everything. The yo-yo was
NICO: fuchsia and had a long string. It also had a little
NICO: star sticker on the center It was not too big,
NICO: but not too small. It was medium-sized.
ARUGULA: Is THIS the missing yo-yo?
NICO: Yes! It looks just like that!
ARUGULA: I have an idea! We could make missing yo-yo
ARUGULA: posters and hang them up around the neighborhood!
NICO: Meh - your drawing is great, Arugula, but I don't
NICO: think we need posters. With the three of us looking
NICO: for clues and me as the Lead Detective, we'll be
NICO: able to find the yo-yo in no-no time!
ARUGULA: Okay, well...
ARUGULA: Let's get started.
NICO: No, let's get started!
ARUGULA: Hey look, it's Sheldon!
NICO: Sheldon! Stop!
NICO: Where are you going? What are you doing? Have
NICO: YOU seen Carl's yo-yo?
SHELDON: Carl's yo-yo? Nope. I've been
SHELDON: busy building my kite for the kite festival today!
SHELDON: I'm headed there now, wanna come?
FORREST: Sure!
FORREST: We should see if any of the other kite builders
FORREST: have seen the yo-yo at the park.
NICO: Nah, let's keep looking here.
ARUGULA: Here's what the yo-yo looks like, Sheldon. Let us
ARUGULA: know if you see it, and have fun at the park!
FORREST: We could search Carl's house again. Maybe his
FORREST: mom accidentally put it someplace else!
ARUGULA: Yeah! I bet if we -
NICO: Come on, you two! We're The Lost and Found
NICO: Detectives. We NEED to look for more clues!
NICO: Look at this part. It looks like a wheel...
NICO: Maybeee...someone was riding by Carl's house on a
NICO: scooter when their wheel popped off, and they
NICO: accidentally took the yo-yo, thinking it was their
NICO: wheel!
ARUGULA: I don't know...the yo-yo isn't exactly the same
ARUGULA: size as a wheel...
FORREST: What if we looked in
NICO: Wait! Maybe that's the scooter!
NICO: We gotta catch that bear!
FORREST: You got it!
FORREST: Hey! I know you. This is Ramon.
RAMON: Hello!
FORREST: And look!
FORREST: The wheels are just wheels, not yo-yos.
NICO: Ramon...Have you seen any yo-yos around here?
RAMON: No...See ya later.
NICO: To the park!
FORREST: That's what I've been saying!
NICO: So many suspects, so little time.
ARUGULA: Whoa, what a wind!
FORREST: AAAH!
FORREST: And Forrest nails the landing!
FORREST: Whoa!
NICO: Good thing I got my windbr Now, back to the
NICO: missing yo-yo...
FORREST: Yes! And Arugula and I think we should go back to
FORREST: Carl's house and retrace his steps from
FORREST: yesterday.
NICO: But look at the yo-yo string! That's just like the
NICO: string on their kite!
NICO: Maybe Carl left his yo-yo outside, and its string
NICO: got tangled in someone's kite string!
FORREST: I don't know...it's not like Carl to leave his
FORREST: yo-yo string unwound.
NICO: Well, my strings get tangled all the time!
NICO: Look at this pile of strings! Maybe the yo-yo is
NICO: here!
NICO: Mmm. No not there...All tangled...I don't
NICO: see it!
FORREST: Nope.
FORREST: Just kites. No yo-yo.
NICO: Back to the neighborhood! You never know
NICO: where we might find another clue.
NICO: Remember, I'm the Lead Detective! I know what I'm
NICO: doing!
ARUGULA: We could ask Carl's nei in case he left his
ARUGULA: yo-yo outside...
NICO: Nah...
NICO: Hmm.
FORREST: I could run quickly back to Carl's and check his
FORREST: treehouse, maybe he brought it up there!
NICO: Now I am out of ideas! I was so sure we could
NICO: follow the clues and find the yo-yo! What are we gonna
NICO: do?!
FORREST: Nico, please stop and listen to us!
NICO: What? I was just saying we'll never find it.
NICO: I thought I was a good detective.
ARUGULA: A good detective considers all the
ARUGULA: possibilities, Nico.
FORREST: And listens to everyone's ideas...not
FORREST: just their own.
ARUGULA: You really hurt our fee You've been ignoring
ARUGULA: our ideas all day, and where has it gotten us?
FORREST: Yo-yo-less is where! We're still totally
FORREST: yo-yo-less.
ARUGULA: We want to go back to Carl's house and retrace his
ARUGULA: steps. You can keep looking here, but we're
ARUGULA: leaving.
SHELDON: Yikes, we're all tangle Maybe we should spin
SHELDON: in opposite directions from each other...
RAMON: Or maybe you can hold my scooter still, and I can
RAMON: untangle the string from the wheel.
SHELDON: I like your idea. Let's try it!
NICO: Wow, I'm definitely seeing clues now. And these
NICO: clues are telling me that...that...I really
NICO: didn't listen to anyone else's ideas.
NICO: [sigh]
CARL: And then, I went to get my yo-yo but it was gone!
FORREST: Nico! You're here!
CARL: Did you find my fuchsia medium-sized yo-yo? It's
CARL: plastic. Though when yo-yos were originally
CARL: invented, they were made out of clay or wood.
NICO: I didn't know that, Carl, and I didn't find your
NICO: yo-yo. I'm here to apologize to Arugula and
NICO: Forrest. I did some detect work on myself, and
NICO: I realized that...
NICO: I got so carried away bein the Lead Detective that
NICO: I didn't listen to any of the good ideas
NICO: you and Forrest had.
ARUGULA: I know you were trying to be helpful, but you
ARUGULA: were so focused on being Lead Detective, you
ARUGULA: forgot we were a team!
FORREST: But maybe we can try to be a team now. You can -
NICO: Ooh, I have an idea!
NICO: And...that's...to listen to your idea.
FORREST: You can help us retrace Carl's steps.
NICO: That's a great idea, fellow detectives!
NICO: Wow, Arugula, you feel cold!
ARUGULA: Yeah, I am. We've been searching outside all
ARUGULA: day.
NICO: Here, you can wear my windbreaker.
ARUGULA: Thanks!
NICO: Now, let's retrace Carl's steps, Lost and Found
NICO: Detectives!
FORREST: Okay, you two should tell us everything again that
FORREST: you did yesterday.
ARUGULA: And we'll write it all down in our detective
ARUGULA: notebooks.
NICO: Great idea! Carl, you can start.
CARL: Thank you.
CARL: Nico came over, and I started to show her my yo-yo
CARL: collection. I brought the whole box outside. I
CARL: showed her my best trick with my favorite yo-yo, the
CARL: medium-sized fuchsia one. But it was really cold
CARL: and windy, so we decided we should pack up the yo-yos
CARL: and meet up again later.
NICO: Yup. Then, I realized what time it was! I was going
NICO: to be late for dinner. So, I said goodbye to Carl and
NICO: I ran home.
FORREST: So, you were in a rush to get home yesterday?
ARUGULA: And it was windy yester so you were wearing
ARUGULA: this windbreaker?
NICO: Yup! I've been wearing it every day this week.
ARUGULA: [gasp] I think I know where the yo-yo is...
CARL: You do?!
CARL: My yo-yo!
ARUGULA: Nico had it in her pocket the whole time!
FORREST: You must have been playing with the yo-yo, and
FORREST: when you realized that you were late, you put it
FORREST: in your pocket without thinking, and ran home!
NICO: Oh my gosh, you're right! I am so sorry!
NICO: If I had listened to you in the first place, we might
NICO: have found the yo-yo much earlier.
FORREST: Better late than never, Nico.
CARL: And don't worry about taking the yo-yo. It was an
CARL: accident, and it was kind of you to help look for
CARL: it.
NICO: I'm just glad we finally found it!
CARL: Me too! And now that I've got my favorite
CARL: medium-sized fuchsia yo-yo back, I can show you all
CARL: kinds of new tricks!
ARUGULA/FORREST: Wow! Ooh!
NICO: Look at that!
CARL: Rainy Day
CARL: Swimming pool, here I come!
CARL: [happily humming]
[knock on door]
CARL: Come in, Mama!
CARL: [happily humming]
[bad news music]
CARL: Why aren't you wearing your pool stuff, Mama?
CARL'S MAMA: Carl, you better look out the window.
CARL: Rain?
CARL'S MAMA: Rain, AND thunder and lightning. Sorry Carl,
CARL'S MAMA: it's just not safe to go swimming today.
CARL: Did you know a lightning bolt is about five
CARL: times hotter than the surface of the sun?!
CARL'S MAMA: Huh, well that's a neat fact!
CARL: It is. I learned it from the same weather forecaster
CARL: who said on TV yesterday
CARL: “only percent chance of rain tomorrow!”
CARL: And that meant an perce chance of NO rain. I
CARL: was hoping for the percent chance!
CARL'S MAMA: Mmm, me too. I know you don't like it when
CARL'S MAMA: plans change, honey.
CARL: I had a whole plan. I was going to say hi to
CARL: Sheldon, Forrest, Nico, Arugula, and Lotta. Then, yell
CARL: “cannonball!” and cannonba into the pool.
CARL: Everyone would cannonball with me.
DOODLE FRIENDS: Woohoo! [giggles]
CARL: Then, after, I'd pop back up to catch my breath, I'd
CARL: float around on my back like this.
CARL: Then, after floating for minutes...
CARL: I'd get out of the pool and walk
CARL: no running - to go down the kid slide three
CARL: times with Sheldon.
CARL: Then, my friends and I would put on our goggles and
CARL: wave to each other underwa and blow bubbles!
CARL: Then, I'd come out, you'd give me a big, tight
CARL: towel hug, and I'd sit on the pool chair, drying off
CARL: in the sun while eating lunch with my friends. That
CARL: was my whole plan and now it's ruined!
CARL'S MAMA: Aww, buddy, I'm sorry. I wish I could change
CARL'S MAMA: the weather! But I can't.
CARL'S MAMA: Hey, maybe you could organize some of your
CARL'S MAMA: growing collections I mean your
CARL'S MAMA: pencil collection is kind of all over the floor.
CARL: That's because the jar is too small. I have one
CARL: hundred pencils now.
CARL'S MAMA: Whoa! That's a lot!
CARL: Did you know the lead in pencils isn't lead? It's
CARL: actually something called graphite.
CARL'S MAMA: Well, I didn't know that! Uh, but, your
CARL'S MAMA: graphite pencils are still on the floor. We
CARL'S MAMA: don't want you to trip!
CARL'S MAMA: Okay, I'll be downstairs if you need me!
CARL: [grumpy sigh]
CARL: [gasp]
CARL: Day. Ruined.
SHELDON: Sheldon to Carl, over!
CARL: Here! Over.
SHELDON: How you doin' buddy?
CARL: Plans changed because of the rain. I don't know what to
CARL: do.
SHELDON: Buddy, I get it! I'm super bummed. I wanted to go
SHELDON: swimming too! Over.
CARL: Bummed. That's the right word!
CARL: Maybe you could come over and we can still play?
CARL: Over.
SHELDON: No. My mom made me promise to help her bag and
SHELDON: freeze some broccoli from the garden. I can't come
SHELDON: over.
SHELDON: What about Forrest? Maybe he can play? I'll radio
SHELDON: to him.
SHELDON: Hey, Forrest! It's Sheldon and Carl.
FORREST: Hi Carl, hi Sheldon!
CARL: What are you doing now that we can't swim, Forrest?
FORREST: When my dad saw it was raining he said “good day
FORREST: to get you some new school clothes!”
CARL: So...you can't come and play.
FORREST: No.
FORREST: And I hate shopping for clothes. It's SO BORING! I
FORREST: wish we were swimming! Over.
SHELDON: [big sigh]
SHELDON: Have you tried Arugula or Nico? Maybe they
SHELDON: can play. I'll radio them. Over.
SHELDON: Hi Arugula. Hi Nico. It's Sheldon. Carl's here too!
ARUGULA: Hi Carl, hi Sheldon! It's just me. Nico isn't
ARUGULA: talking to me because Mom said we have to clean our
ARUGULA: room.
ARUGULA: This is your mess!
CARL: So, you can't come over and play inside?
ARUGULA: No. This is gonna take some time...Sorry, Carl. I
ARUGULA: wish we were swimming. Bye!
SHELDON: Let's try Lotta.
SHELDON: Hi Lotta! It's Sheldon and Carl.
LOTTA: Hi Carl, Sheldon!
CARL: What are you doing now that we can't swim?
LOTTA: Playing music!
CARL: I'm super bummed about the rain.
LOTTA: Oh! I love days like this. And today's rain is
LOTTA: giving me the time to practice for my upcoming
LOTTA: competition!
LOTTA: Gotta go. Bye!
CARL: Lotta is doing what she loves, but that's not working
CARL: for me! I can't focus on my collections today. Not when
CARL: I really just want to go swimming.
CARL: By this time I would have just cannonballed in! I
CARL: want to make this day bett but I don't know what
CARL: to do when plans change.
CARL'S MAMA: [on the phone] And you think they gave you a
CARL'S MAMA: decent price? Yeah, huh? Huh! Okay,
CARL'S MAMA: thanks Anne!
CARL'S MAMA: Ha! I know, broken pottery wheel on a
CARL'S MAMA: rainy day - so annoying!
CARL'S MAMA: Oh, um, Anne? Lemme call you back. Carl just
CARL'S MAMA: walked in. Okay. Talk to you later!
CARL: Mommm...I don't know what to do...
CARL: By this time at the pool, I would have been
CARL: floating on my back, in the sun!
CARL: But, here I am, at home, bored and frustrated.
CARL: I tried to keep the plan a little the same by asking
CARL: Sheldon and everyone if they could come over and play
CARL: inside. But no one can come!
CARL'S MAMA: Well, that does sound frustrating.
CARL'S MAMA: I was feeling bored, too, you know. My
CARL'S MAMA: pottery wheel broke, and it needs a new
CARL'S MAMA: part, so I can't make the pots I planned to
CARL'S MAMA: make today. But then, I called your Auntie
CARL'S MAMA: Anne! We had such a fun chat and she told me

CARL'S MAMA: two problems! My boredom, and my wheel.
CARL: Hmm. I'll check in with Sheldon. Maybe he can come
CARL: over now!
CARL: By this time, we would've been going down the
CARL: slide for the second time! Over.
SHELDON: I wish we were doing that instead! I wonder what
SHELDON: Forrest is doing.
SHELDON: Hi Forrest! I'm here with Carl. What are you up to?

SHELDON: Nope! Sorry, buddy.
SHELDON: But, I made some broccoli friends!
CARL: What?!
SHELDON: I was bored. So I made the broccoli bored with
SHELDON: me. They're so funny! [laughing]
SHELDON: In fact, me and the broccoli are no longer bored.
SHELDON: Mom brought in some more broccoli I can make into
SHELDON: broccoli friends!
SHELDON: Maybe give Forrest a ring and
SHELDON: see if he can come over now? Over and out!
CARL: Oh yeah, maybe he can play now!
CARL: Hi Forrest! Are you still at the store?
FORREST: Yes. But, Dad and I turned this into the
FORREST: Pants Olympics! I try on a pair...jump around,
FORREST: do some squats, and if I like them, I throw the pair
FORREST: out to Dad!
FORREST: GOAL!
FORREST: Maybe check in with Arugula and Nico.
FORREST: Gotta go!
CARL: Hi Arugula! Hi Nico! Over.
ARUGULA: Hi Carl! What's up? We're having a clean-up dance
ARUGULA: party!
CARL: What's that?
ARUGULA: Well, we started hummin one of our favorite
ARUGULA: songs, you know. And we put on that song and just
ARUGULA: started moving! You know, picking stuff up as we
ARUGULA: dance! Now we're having fun!
ARUGULA: Bye, Carl!
CARL: I wish I was eating lunch at the pool right now.
CARL: I'm SO bored! Everyone found something fun to do
CARL: instead of swimming, except me!
CARL'S MAMA: Hey! Nice pancake!
CARL: What?!
CARL: Oh, I thought you were talking about a real pancake.
CARL'S MAMA: Huh. Now I wonder where you got those amazing
CARL'S MAMA: clay skills!
CARL: [laughing]
CARL'S MAMA: Hey, if your friend are having fun, do you
CARL'S MAMA: think they're still bored?
CARL: Maybe not.
CARL: I want to change my boredo into fun too, but I
CARL: don't know how!
CARL: I like the feel of this clay.
CARL'S MAMA: You know what, you just reminded me of
CARL'S MAMA: another way I love to make pots that
CARL'S MAMA: doesn't involve the wheel!
CARL'S MAMA: This one you make by doing what you're doing!
CARL'S MAMA: See?
CARL: I need a new place to put my gigantic pencil
CARL: collection!
CARL: Hey, I think I could chang my boredom into fun by
CARL: making a clay pot!
CARL'S MAMA: Carl, I love that idea. Why don't I join you?
CARL'S MAMA: [humming]
CARL: I think I'm getting it!
CARL/CARL'S MAMA: [laughing together]
CARL: There! A perfect pot for my pencils.
CARL'S MAMA: I'm having so much fun with you, buddy!
CARL: Let's make another pot. I need a new place to put my
CARL: sea-glass collection, too. And my button collection!
CARL: I could make a pot for almost all of my collections.
CARL: But, not my word collectio You can't put THAT
CARL: in a pot.
CARL'S MAMA: Let's do it!
CARL: There! I'm so glad we found a way to have fun!
CARL'S MAMA: Me too, Carl! Me too!
