Whoever digs it up in the future

will know all about us...

I hope they look after our fire engine!

-[chuckling] -[ding-a-ling]

Now, who wants to fill in the hole?

-G'Day! -Hello, Heidi!

And what can we do for you today?

Can you clean my palaeontologist's outfit, please?

-Ooh! It's a bit dirty from all my digging! -[chuckles]

What were you digging for, Heidi?

Dinosaurs, Lofty!

Well, the bones of dinosaurs anyway!

They lie in the ground for millions of years...

just waiting to be dug up by palaeontologists like me.

-[chuckles] -Then we study them!

Ooh! You'd be amazed

what you can learn from a pile of old bones!

Do you remember when dinosaurs were alive, Mum?

-[giggling] -I'm not quite that old, thank you Milo!

[giggling]

-[sighs] -Let's get that outfit cleaned for you, Heidi!

We'll take these to Suds, Mum!

-Hi, Suds! -Hello, my bubbly buddies!

What have you got for me today?

A palaeontologist's outfit, Suds.

Hmm. I'm detecting... mud and more mud!

-Oh! Someone's been busy digging! -[chuckles]

I'll get these clean in no time!

[giggling]

Suds, do you have any palaeontologist's outfits we can wear?

[Heidi] Oh no!

I'm in a sticky spot!

He needs me to check out a rock he found on his building site.

-He thinks it's a rare fossil! -Ooh!

Trouble is, I'm right in the middle of digging up these dinosaur

They need to be excavated and identified in time

for a new exhibition at the museum today!

But I can't dig up the bones and help Otto!

Why don't we do your dinosaur dig for you Heidi?

Hmm! You do look like palaeontologists!

-Okay, you're hired! -Yes!

I've located most of the bones...

but I'm still missing one or two.

Whoo!

-Maybe they're in here? -Whoo!

[All] Wow!

[giggles] The bones will still be in the ground, Lofty!

This where we examine the things we dig up.

Then when we've found something important,

it needs to go to the museum to be identified

and assembled in time for the exhibition!

What sort of dinosaur is this?

We don't know yet!

We need to find the rest of the bones.

We can use them to build a picture of the past!

-[chuckles] -It'll be hard to picture this dinosaur without a head!

-[chuckling] -Don't worry, we'll find those bones, Heidi!

We haven't found any bones yet.

The missing bones!

Now we've got every part of dinosaur!

Aw. I wanted to find a bit of the dinosaur.

Let's take it to the museum!

We need to identify which dinosaur it is!

But how do we get the bones to the museum?

Hm.

Excuse me! Dinosaur coming through...

-Uhm... -[nervous laugh]

Wow! This must be Heidi's exhibition!

[Lofty] And that's where the dinosaur needs to go!

Let's put it together.

-That's the strangest dinosaur I've ever seen! -[giggles]

Oh! Maybe it's a brand new dinosaur

that no one's discovered before!

Let's name it the Milosaurus! Argh!

-[smashing] -[shouting]

-Oops! -[Lark gasps]

Heidi can't open her exhibition with a pile of bones!

And it's not long until it starts.

Being a palaeontologist is hard!

And putting a dinosaur back together is even harder!

[sigh]

We don't even know what sort of dinosaur we're trying to build

Oh what did Heidi say?

We can use the bones to build a picture of the past!

Oh! These are pictures of the past!

[Milo] Maybe our dinosaur is one of them!

[happy music]

[Lark] Yay! This is our dinosaur!

Yes! It's called a Triceratops!

[Lofty] Those horns look pointy!

So now we know what our dinosaur looks like...

We can build it!

[happy music]

So it was a triceratops!

-We found the bones... -And dug them up!

I didn't find any bones!

Ah well, Lofty. Palaeontology's a funny job!

Sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you're not.

Lofty found a rock!

There's nothing interesting about a rock.

This isn't a rock!

-Isn't it? -What is it then?

It's the perfect centrepiece for the exhibition!

[gasp]

Ladies and gentlemen.

I hereby declare our new dinosaur exhibition open!

-[all amazed] Wow! Yes! -That's amazing, ain't it?

[Lark] Behold, the triceratops!

[murmuring]

Uhm.

-What's this? -That's where my lunch got to!

[giggles]

And what is this funny looking rock?

That's not a rock! It's umm...

This is a coprolite.

Otherwise known as fossilised dinosaur poo!

Dinosaur poo?

Did she just say dinosaur poo?

I think so.

How absolutely fascinating!

-[applause] -[cheering]

And the finest specimen I've ever seen.

-Top work, Palaeontologists! -[chuckles]

-Yes! -[giggling]

Oh! And how did my little palaeontologists get on?

Oh Suds, it was brilliant!

We had to dig up dinosaur bones.

But we didn't know what sort of dinosaur.

So we learned as much as we could from the bones!

It was a triceratops!

When I grow up I think it would be amazing to be a...

PALAEONTOLOGIST!
