[Kane chanting prayers in Chinese]

[in English] Come join me, come.

-Hi! What are you doing?
-I'm chanting.

I heard it in the hallway.
It smells so good in here.

-It's incense. Join.
-Good to see you.

Look, I'm doing a prayer
to cleanse the house, you know.

So I always put up, like, a notice.

So in this Mandarin, it says that

"The spirits that guard, like flowers,
insects, will come into your space."

"Leave by this date before demolition
comes in. We don't want you to get hurt."

-I'm excited to see what you'll do.
-I'm going to put my spin to it.

So, I care a lot about feng shui.
I think I found a legit person.

He's gonna be here any minute.

I'm really excited.

In Chinese tradition, feng shui is about
placement of things in your home.

It could affect your future,
your sex life, your money.

It could affect your relationship.

So, I hope Master Mencius
helps with my feng shui,

'cause I want to retire by 35.

I don't want to be Christine
playing games at 47. [chuckles]

-So, I just bought this place.
-Okay.

-And I need some help with feng shui.
-Mm-hm.

I know feng shui brings in money,
and I need that to kind of be independent.

-Okay.
-From my parents. So…

[Mencius] I think this location is good,
a really good one.

It's, I think, one of the best buildings
in the neighborhood. It has valet.

-Which is good feng shui.
-I don't think he cares about that.

-Maybe I can do a walk-through for you?
-[Mencius] Sure.

[Kane] So, this is the master room.
Where should the person sleep usually?

The bed, we have to position it
as your head is to the north

and your legs,
your feet point to the south.

Really? But it's facing the toilet.

Yes, I know,
because the building is wrong.

The most important part
of our lives are two things:

you sleep and you eat, right?

Sex.

-Oh, yeah, you sleep, then you sex.
-[laughing]

In China, there are two
big philosopher families.

There's one, the Confucius family,
which we all know.

The second one is the Mencius family.

So I hired Master Mencius

because he's the 69th descendant
of the Mencius family from China.

This is, we call it my black dragon sword.

It's actually not an ordinary one.

-I can show you.
-You can't buy it on eBay.

[Mencius] It's black because
it's absorbed the negative energy.

For example,
if there is a bad spirit here,

then you tap it,
and then you say the spell.

-I can do, like, a walk around.
-[Kane] Yeah.

He knows feng shui, he knows Taoism,

he knows how to clean the area.

He drives a Rolls-Royce,
so he must be legit. [chuckles]

[traditional Chinese music playing]

That's the way, how you do it.

[Kane] Can you tell me when I'll retire?

Bad news is, you have, like,
a very large opportunity before,

but you missed it.

Your mind wasn't there.

I think we are looking at 47.

Ugh…

-[Mencius] You wasted time.

"yes" or "no" with your mouth only.

No head movements, no body movements.

-Like a statue.
-[Kevin] Okay.

Is there "maybes"?

[John] No, it's gotta be straight
yes or no questions.

[Kevin] What if you cough?

If you cough on questions of importance,
it will make you fail.

[coughs] Better get it out of the way.

[clears throat]

-Okay. I'll do this.
-[Kim] All right.

I will sit over here.

And you sit right there.

-[John] Ready to be wired up?
-[Kevin] Yeah, let's do it.

This is for your lower breathing.

Going to be one
of the blue lines we watch.

-Arms up.
-What the f*ck?

This is making me nervous.

Everybody's nervous taking a polygraph.
That won't affect your score.

[Kevin] That's good, okay.

[John] All right,
it's picking up his blood,

sweat, lower breathing
and upper breathing.

Oh, wow. That's real.

This is a question, but it's serious.

[whispers] What if all of a sudden you
feel horny or something? Will you fail?

You just want to answer all questions
in the same volume and strength.

-So if you're ready, it's ready.
-[Kevin] Let's go.

[John] Are you in California?

[Kevin] Yes.

[John] Are you in Texas?

-No.
-[John] Go ahead.

Have you ever had intercourse
with Kane Lim?

No.

[John] Have you ever rode a motorcycle?

-No.
-[John] Go ahead.

Did you ever have real feelings for Kelly?

No.

Have you hooked up with anybody else

ever since you went out
with Kim Lee on that trip?

No.

Do you have true feelings for Kim Lee?

Yes.

-Can you tell if I'm lying right now?
-[John] Yes.

[Kim] Was he lying?

He's telling the truth.

[warm music playing]

Okay, that's the end
of the chart collection.

[Kim] You really did not look at me.

-I can't.
-[Kim] Why?

I feel like it's going to make me jolt.

I kind of get that anyway
whenever I look at you.

I wasn't looking forward
to this lie detector test going in,

but I feel so relieved
to finally get this on paper for her

to see that I've been honest
this whole time.

So really, the truth does set you free.

[Kim] Honestly, I really need
to buy this machine.

What do you recommend I should do?

A person like me that has trust issues.
Buy a lie detecting test, right?

No? Okay.

-Okay, let's get it adjusted to her.
-Okay.

[John] Are you in California?

-Yes.
-[John] Go ahead.

Do you have feelings for me?

Yes.

[Kevin] Do you still love
your ex-boyfriend?

[Kim] Um, I don't know if I do.
How do I answer that?

Truthfully.

[Kevin] Are you still in love
with your ex-boyfriend?

No.

Do you even really want to be with me?

No.

As an adult, have you ever stolen
anything and got away with it?

I think we're good.

[sentimental music playing]

[exhales]

[John] Thank you.

[Kevin] So, what are the results, John?

[John] Kim did not have as good
of results as you did.

The question about feelings
about a last boyfriend,

it's scoring her as a deception indicated.

Which means?

Lying.

[Kevin] Funny, the person accuses the
person the most is the one who does it.

Next.

[John] He asked you
if you wanted to be with him.

And you said no. The computer says
she's telling the truth on that.

Yup.

I just don't see, like, myself being
with you because I can't trust you and--

You can't trust me after this?

Um…

I don't know.

[Kevin] How?

You know how much this hurts?

I've been nothing but trustworthy to you.
I've proven it to you.

And you can't see being with me
because you don't trust me.

-You're damaged. I know you're damaged.
-But I am.

Let me be there for you.

[sighs]

This was a mistake.

[dramatic music playing]
