[Guillén] An officer found

these letters in your parents' bedroom.

They were inside the closet,

up on the shelf.

Had you seen them before?

They're all addressed to Elena Vera.

Some are from three years ago,

from the postmark.

Others are just a month old.

They're letters from followers

of a cult named the Cult of Light.

"We move through our path to perfection

towards becoming like you, Elena."

"We've fulfilled the five veils of light,

and you're the key."

There are two more pages discussing the

Region of Shadows and the Cult of Light.

You get a headache just reading it.

Does this make any sense to you?

[Eva] I don't understand a thing.

It's signed by someone called

Suzanne Madèline,

daughter of the Cult of Light.

I believe her and, well,

the other senders

might be the ones we found at the mine.

So, what were our parents?

Some kind of visionaries?

You're not responsible

for what they did, Pablo and Elena.

-But you don't have to protect them.

-It was them.

Eva, Sofía, listen to me.

I still don't know

what role your father had,

but I do know

that Elena was in charge here.

She convinced all those people to take

their own lives by going into the mine.

That's not true.

I know it hurts, Sofía. All right?

But think of all the families

of those 23 dead people here.

They're hurting as much as you.

You need to help us.

So in that case,

why not let us stay in town?

You can stay

in the residence for a few days.

At this point,

there's no need to rush the transfer.

[gasping]

[squeaking]

[groaning]

-[loud squeaking]

-[moans]

[squeaking intensifies]

[wails]

[screaming echoing]

FIFTH VEIL

CULT OF LIGH

[Halid] I don't even know who they were.

Well, they were the ones in charge.

I mean, she was the one

who told my brother I shouldn't be there.

That's why she locked me in.

Soon after that, everything went silent.

I believed that my brother

would show up at any moment, but…

but he never came.

[Sofía] You're talking

about Mom and Dad, Eva.

Do you believe it?

Look at me!

-[sighs]

-Look at me.

Do you think they'd make

all those people k*ll themselves?

So where's Dad, then? Huh?

If there was

any other explanation, he'd be with us.

But no. They left us alone.

Sofía.

Listen to me.

I'm just trying to look after you.

I'm not a little girl any more.

You nearly drowned at the reservoir.

So don't tell me

you know what you're doing.

I don't understand how

you can't remember a thing.

[faint chittering]

-[soft sighing]

-[squeaking]

[soft sighing]

Mom?

[echoing gasping]

Sofía.

Sofía, stop now!

Go away!

What?

This isn't real. Go away!

Well, maybe I didn't want him

to get me out.

So, you would have rather drowned?

Sofía, you're scaring me.

We're missing something, Eva.

I don't know what it is.

But there's something.

[screeching]
