I dunno yet, that's why I need this.

[groans] It's a canvas, for art class.

Mrs. Mortimer gave us an assignment.
Paint a portrait of someone.

So who are you gonna paint?

-I don't know.
-Not sure yet.

to capture all of our awesomeness.

I just finished my art assignment.

I call them the Tri-tops.

-Whoa!

You painted me… as a triangle?

I think you captured Karma perfectly.
She does have a pointy head. [laughs]

No, I painted these three colors
to represent the three of us.

And when we come together,
we fit perfectly.

So, what do ya think?

I'm a triangle. On a sneaker.

I love them, Win. The purple lines,
they make me think of…

that feeling when we slide into
our diner booth

and Chef Scott brings us purple scones.

They remind me of the feeling you get
from being best friends forever.

And that green mixed with the blue,
it sorta makes me think of…

-[Major barks]
-…playing catch with my best buddy.

They're… triangles?

I mean, do you think
they fit the assignment?

We were supposed to paint a portrait.

I was expecting it to be of us!

Now I have to redo the whole assignment
by tomorrow the "right" way.

[groans] She's so close-minded!

She thinks art's just supposed
to be one thing.

It's like her mind's closed
to new ideas.

You're so good, it'll be easy to re-do
the project with a real piece of art.

Well, there was a time
when some people thought rap wasn't art.

They thought it wasn't as important
as classical music, or even rock 'n' roll.

It might seem like it's just rhyming, but
when you take the time to really listen…

…you realize how good it makes you feel.

You see, those people were just
close-minded to what rap can be.

And maybe I've been close-minded, too?

Maybe these sneakers
aren't what you expected.

But that doesn't mean
they're not beautiful.

All you have to do to be open-minded
is to open yourself up to something new.

[sighs]

When I opened my mind and really looked,

I saw you, me, and Switch
sitting on the stoop, hanging out.

It reminds me of being with friends
who love you, just the way you are.

That's exactly what I was going for!

Basically, the opposite of this.

It doesn't make me feel
the way the Tri-tops do.

[groans] But I gotta do it
for the assignment, right?

Maybe not.

I know Mrs. Mortimer
expected something different.

But I think we can open her mind
to just how beautiful your sneakers are!
