Our opening party is in
just a few days
and our lobby's come a long way,
but there's still
a lot of work to do.
Fortunately, there is one space
that's almost finished.
I'm planning to add some
of my vintage dolls in here
to greet my guests as they arrive,
but the curation process
won't be easy so
I'm bringing in another doll
aficionado to help.
The g*ng's all here.
Ooh, I'm so excited. Oh...
I'm Jaymes Mansfield
and I am a drag queen
and wig stylist to the stars.
I thought Jaymes Mansfield would be
the perfect person
to help me prep dolls for the motel.
I also thought it'd be a good idea
for us to have a few drinks
before this started.
Do you want me to take my top off,
'cos I'll do it.
Listen, I have a lot of ideas.
They're not always good.
Well, the check-in's pink...
so, do you think we should
just do more pink ones?
As much pink as possible,
with a big vag*na in there.
I'm happy to help because,
as everyone can see,
she... she needs it.
Is this okay?
Oh, that's a look.
Is this okay?
Trixie has a gorgeous collection,
mouth-watering.
Collectors, they would die to have
these pieces.
This is one of my favourites, too.
This is Color Magic.
The one you can change her hair?
Yeah, her hair changes
and this is an original.
Look how good her face looks.
What happened to the back
of her hair?
Did you get a little
friendly with some scissors?
I think whoever had it before me
gave it, like,
a terrible haircut. Oh.
Now, I've got first-hand knowledge
of how she takes care of these dolls
and I can tell you right here,
right now...
they need some help.
I don't think she's ever seen
a brush or even knows how it works,
so I'm happy to take over here.
Like, this one, you could take,
like, a colour changing solution
and apply it to the hair and the
clothes and it would change colours.
It's pretty cool. Oh, yeah.
I love children playing with
chemicals; That's great.
Women in Corporate America look
just like that.
I wish they did. Where is she going?
She's going to 'werk'.
That's a 1962 fashion queen.
It's one of my favourites.
An original one?
It's an original one.
You're a crazy person.
Now, Trixie thinks
I'm actually here to help
but I got to be honest with you,
I'm casing this joint right now,
okay?
Out of all the dolls here,
what's the most valuable one?
She's not gonna see these dolls
in that motel!
I would say the most expensive one
is probably Live Action Christie.
I mean the outfit alone
is probably worth, like...
...$500.
Oh, let me see, let me see.
Yeah. $500 for a doll?
Mm-mm. Ah, mm, mm, oh! No!
Butter fingers. Oh, I'll get it.
Thank you, dear.
Okay. Jaymes?
Jaymes? Hello?
It wasn't easy
but I managed to return
Live Action Christie to safety.
I'll never let Jaymes
steal you again.
Are you ready to see the room?
Let's see it, baby.
One, two, three!
Wow. Holy sh*t!
Look at this completely transformed
check-in experience.
God, when I think of
what this room was,
like, frightening blood red
with natural wood, look at it now.
Gorgeous. It's like an atrium.
It's like a church. Hallelujah!
This small space has had
a huge transformation.
Monochrome baby pink has made it
feel so airy and straight up pretty.
Oh, the heart-shaped knobs! So cute.
I love this marble so much.
It's so pretty and look at it with
the custom tile.
Nice! So good.
Beautiful light fixture.
We have the Trixie motel sign.
We have plenty of items to buy.
We have sunglasses, hats, shirts.
I mean, you could basically come
here naked.
Sorry, we have nothing in your size.
We have this gorgeous check-in area.
We have a laptop.
We probably got some
keys to the rooms somewhere.
We just haven't hired anyone to
work here yet.
'How to check people into a motel?'
What's worse is,
I think I may have accepted
a reservation a little prematurely.
Oh, God.
This is the Trixie Motel.
Wow.
'Who is Emily Hampshire?'
Oh, she was on a TV show
about a motel.
Well, that's a show and this is
real.
Is this check-in? Hi!
This is gorgeous. I'm checking in.
Yeah, this is the Trixie Motel.
I'm Trixie Mattel.
Yeah. This is your motel.
Yeah! It's so fun.
Emily Hampshire.
Emily Hampshire, yes.
Okay. Hampshire, like the state...
...New Hampshire.
Okay, too much, too fast.
Sorry, okay. Okay, Emily, M?
E. E. M-E-M. E-M.
Were you parents...
...Scandinavian or something?
M-E-M-L.
Okay. It's not coming up.
This is gonna be a process, right?
Okay. I'm new.
First day?
Yeah, it's our first day.
You're our first guest.
I'm your first, first ever guest?
Yeah! Okay. Okay!
I am happy to have... can you come
look at this?
Do you see... is there, like,
a check-in?
Do you see, like, a button?
Go ahead. It seems like
you really know your way around.
I mean, so, you usually look up
their name...
Mm-mm. Right.
...by the correct spelling...
Mm.
...and usually that just pops up.
Okay. Wait. Okay, so, like,
let's say you're me
and I'm you, right,
so then, I'd be like, "Hi".
Welcome to the Trixie Motel.
Oh, can I check in, please?
And your name?
We're at the Trixie Motel.
I think people would know who I was.
Oh, okay. Well, okay
yeah, I thought
we were role-playing.
Well, I mean, what greater role to
play than Trixie Mattel?
Fair. Do you have... Mm.
...keys or anything?
Yeah, I think we have some keys.
Like, if you rummage around
in one of those drawers,
I think we have some keys.
You're doing a really good job by
the way. So, there's no system? Oh.
Yeah, I'm gonna check in
on you later, okay?
First days... it's nervous for
everyone, you know,
but you're doing great.
That's my suitcase.
There's work to do everywhere
and everybody
needs to be doing their part.
This is crunch time.
The pool furniture just arrived
and it's all hands on deck.
Oh, I can't seem to find David
Silver anywhere.
Manual lab our and David Silvers
nowhere to be found?
What? At this motel?
They are heavy but it gets really
windy here...
...so. Yeah, they have to be.
These are commercial
grade umbrellas.
This is so sickening.
Isn't it amazing? Yes.
Wow, it's really
all coming together.
Oh, my God, are these just flat out
lawn chairs?
Yeah, they're, like, trailer park
lawn chairs.
I love them. Mobile homes.
They're called mobile homes.
Oh, my God, this brings me back.
All right, it's time to get
this pool deck in order.
You look like an old man
in Palm Springs, right now...
...with your outfit.
Hell of a day.
Makes you feel like you're 18 again.
This is where I'm gonna sit
and when people don't act right,
I'm gonna go "Hey!"
That kind of stuff.
'Noise complaint'?
In the atomic bombshell room?
I don't even know where that is.
Erm... Okay, hi.
I've been here for three weeks.
I've been trying the front desk;
Nothing's working darling.
Well, I got a noise complaint,
so that worked.
This would be the atomic b*mb room?
Yes, this is my room,
thank you very much.
Do you mind if I... sit?
It's just kind of, like, I don't
know if the AC's working in there.
This is kind of cool.
Also, the earth's atmosphere
is so smoky, my darling.
Could we get an oxygen tank
in that corner, please?
That might help with the...
breathing.
I don't know what
you're talking about.
It sounded something like this.
Must have been your arise, darling
'cos I couldn't hear a thing.
Dani has been super busy adding her
person touches to the lobby
and she's requested my assistance
for one last DIY project.
Welcome to Dani's DIY. Yay!
Are you ready to do this thing?
Yes! I have always learned...
...something from you.
To be honest, I've never done...
this before
and I have no idea what I'm doing.
You didn't have to tell me that,
I would have totally believed you.
Well, I watched a seven-minute video
on the internet last night...
so I'm basically an expert.
Oh, great...
...so we're completely prepared.
Yes!
Oh, my God.
To be honest, I usually have...
...Philip help me with this stuff.
You know what, though?
Women have the power... like,
you and I should do this and then,
when we see David and Philip,
we'll be like,
"Well, yeah, we're not idiots.
We, of course, knew how to do this."
Yeah. Well, let's wait until
we see what the end result is.
I might just end up giving
this all to Philip to do!
It can't be horrible and then,
we're like, "Of course we did it."
They're like, "We can see that.
We can tell you did it."
I mean, I went to school
for fashion design
and I feel like working with fabrics
is kind of similar.
Well, the person who made this did
not go to school for fashion design.
No, this is not my favourite
textile design.
I mean, it's just like a sad,
old man Hawaiian shirt pattern.
I know, it's bad.
And look at... it's been, like...
...it's had lived multiple lives.
Look at all of these layers!
- Drag queens are very crafty.
- Oh, I know, that's a fact.
Like, maybe we can just sort of...
make sure there's enough for...
space around, cut it and then...
...is it just pulling and tucking?
Exactly.
There's, like, a few techniques that
the internet lady gave me.
The internet lady. Werk. Yes.
This can't be that hard.
There's a lot harder things
you can learn from the internet.
Cutting your own bangs.
Oh. Never do that. Never do that.
Mm-mm. Acrylics. Home acrylics.
I mean, this can't be that hard.
Somebody's done it twice.
And it can look all sloppy and messy
on the back and nobody will know.
It's very drag. It's very putting
a chair in drag. Kind of.
Then, the back,
just don't look in the back.
Which is also like drag; Just don't
look at the back of the wig.
You know what I mean?
All right. So, we gotta measure...
...and cut this out
and then, tsh... tsh... tsh...
I'm already, like, on
pins and needles here.
I know I'm gonna mess this up.
If you're not trying something new
at your job every day...
...what are you doing? Exactly!
I love getting down and dirty.
I say that as someone...
...who's done the same make-up
for about 15 years, but still.
This is taking me back
to fashion school.
I didn't like it.
I don't like sewing.
You don't? No.
Go to jail, b*tch. I love sewing!
It's so relaxing and it's like,
you start with nothing and you end
with something.
It's like, so...
It's just so technical
and like, all the measurements,
like...
You're even cutting this fabric like
you hate it.
Okay, why don't you do it?
Get this line.
Yes, that's how it's done. Oh.
Should be good for Canada.
Oh, wow.
No? 'Kay.
All right. Let's figure out
which way this goes.
How about this, 'cos that's,
you know?
Er... 'Cos this has the scratch.
Oh. Girl, it's not big enough.
Okay. Are we sure... hold on! Okay.
This is like wrapping
a Christmas present
and you didn't cut a big
enough piece.
Let's just go down to the fabric
store and get more
of our custom fab...
If only there was some kind of...
saying, like, "Measure twice,
cut once."
Oh.
Okay, okay. Let's see.
It actually looked good. Ooh!
Yeah! Mm-mm. It's perfect, so...
...let's take this pressurized g*n
that shoots out staples.
You gotta be very careful
safety first.
I'm gonna let you do the hon our.
These glasses, like,
hold my lashes open...
...so I can't really blink.
You're not gonna miss a thing.
This is perfect! Okay.
All right, I'm gonna hold it really
nice on top for you.
Don't staple my hand.
We just need to make sure it, like,
doesn't really show on the outside.
I think we should do, like,
a bunch of little folds.
Okay. Yeah?
I don't know! See!
If we do, like, little things,
it'll, like, pucker.
I think it's okay if it puckers a
little in the corners.
Well, let's look at what they did.
They went straight, straight,
straight and then, bunch at the
corner, so I think that's what...
...we should, we should do.
Yeah, let's follow this.
I mean, they did it just like
a Christmas present.
They picked horrible fabric.
Yeah, no, no, no. Not the kind of
wrapping I would pick.
We have the other problem.
We picked great fabric, but we...
...don't know what we're doing.
I know.
Yes! Keep going! You got this.
It's like sewing, kinda.
See what it looks like.
Oh! That looks really good!
Oh! So smooth!
Okay, only we'll sh**t with this...
I'm working on an album...
...right now and I need these
fingers to play guitar...
...so please don't.
I hope you have them insured.
Oh, my God! Oh, God!
I'm just kidding.
All right. That looks fine.
Okay. It's totally fine.
'Cos look what this one looks
like. They're... they look the same.
Yeah, you're right. Ours is better.
Okay, but how cute is this fabric.
There's... no one else in the world
had this fabric.
No, they don't.
This is inspired by you.
All right. Last corner.
Knowing that I was critical of you,
now, I have to come through...
...and actually do this myself.
Yeah. Right.
Let's see if you've got this!
Let's see who has the better tuck.
I actually don't even tuck.
I just... you know how, like, when
you have company coming over
and you shove everything
in the linen closet?
That's kinda what I do.
Trixie? Hello. You're not Trixie.
Nope. You're Emily Hampshire.
Er... What are you doing here?
Er, I have a reservation.
Oh! Oh, erm... where's Trixie?
I don't know.
She just left you here.
Did she? She's a terrible host.
Is she? Are you comfortable?
Mm... yes. Can I get you anything?
No. Are you sure?
No. Are you sure?
Now, what? So, do you want to see
the pink chairs? Yeah!
How cute! Wow! This is fierce.
Let's see what it looks like.
I love, too
that we were able to
repurpose a vintage piece.
It's so cute! I love it!
It's gaggy. But it looks so good.
It's perfect. How do you secure it?
Oh.
Do you know how to use power tools?
Yeah? Okay. Then, let's do it.
You look so hot doing this!
Oh, wow, that's not threaded, right?
It isn't? Oh, no, oh no...
I don't think so does...
...not sound... Is it?
It is. Oh, it... oh, it's on there.
Okay. Oh, b*tch.
Okay. Sorry to doubt you.
You gotta apply a lotta pleasure...
Okay.
...or it doesn't... See that?
So, now it's grabbing.
I think we did it. Let's see.
It looks great! It survived!
It's all... And it looks really
cute.
Shall we test it? Wow.
Do the hon our. Okay.
My queen, sit on your throne.
Ba-ba-da-bum ba-ba-bum!
If it broke, I would leave here
and never come back.
Come on, Dani,
put your back into it. Sorry!
It is hot. It is.
All this heavy lifting.
Well, this looks beautiful.
What do you think of the layout?
I figured you'd have comments.
I do. Okay.
We were putting this together.
We've just been putting our...
...blood, sweat and tears into this.
Don't love the hopping pillows.
At all?
No. Yeah. Like, gone.
Nowhere... can they live
anywhere else?
Somewhere else not out... Okay.
...outside. Okay.
You know, it's early morning right
now, but throughout the day,
the prime pool deck real estate's
really over here
and most of the chairs
are over there.
Oh. Oh.
I mean, I just really don't wanna
block this cute little bar area
or, like, this walkway.
In a dramatic turn of events, David
had something to say about...
...what we did. We're re-arranging!
Getting rid of these.
Teamwork.
Yeah, be careful.
Did...
so, did you dress for the room
or did the room...
get dressed for you?
I look like this every day,
my darling.
The room is clearly inspired by me.
This is an amazing room.
It is gorgeous, isn't it?
I think I'm gonna have another nap,
my darling.
Okay,
I guess I better get back to...
I haven't eaten in three weeks;
Maybe you could bring me some food
when I wake up.
Okay. I guess I'll...
just k...
Just keep it down a little.
Just an octave. Okay.
Shush.
Shush! Shush!
I think we're done. I think so.
I love that we picked the hottest
day of the process...
...to move pool furniture.
Yeah. I'm not moving another thing.
It's, it's set. It's set.
You didn't move anything.
Ah, you know.
I had... I had eyes on it.
Maybe some pillows.
I think we were...
If David says it's set...
...I'm done. Yeah.
It's amazing. It's ah-may-zing.
Look at how beautiful it is.
Wow, you guys!
It was a pool deck,
now it looks like a resort.
Yeah. Right? We've got these...
...brand-new custom umbrellas.
We've got deckchairs,
we've got a whole pink and white
motif going on.
We have brand new mature ficuses.
We have our new pool equipment
hidden behind this bar.
We have astroturf. We have enough
places to break off
that you could be on, like,
several dates at the same time.
Doing these like beautiful rays, it
really draws your eye to the pool.
We can still pressure wash this
and have it re-painted, like,
twice a year.
I don't want to say that we kept it
simple out here because
it's over the top, but keeping it
pink and white
and then, the rooms inside
are so colourful and crazy...
it's just, like, really chic
and beautiful.
Oh! The pool has always been
my favourite feature of the motel
and now, it's living up to
its potential.
Taking it all in, aren't you glad
we did the roof?
100%. I mean, if we still had that
rusty cottage cheese roof,
it would really take everything
down a notch.
We haven't done the sign.
The sign still says Coral Sands.
Well, we do have a plan.
Do you trust us?
I trust you. Okay.
I love this chair. It suits you.
This is way more me.
The pool area, here, is amazing.
The bar is set very high
for our final area,
which is now finally ready.
Looking back, we certainly had
our work cut out for us.
This will be the lobby
of the Trixie Motel.
When? In five years?
But we didn't have five years,
or even five months.
In fact, by the time the permits
were finally approved,
we only had
three weeks to get it all done.
We had to move walls, update
electrical and plumbing.
Basically, the team was asked to
pull off a miracle...
but I had all the faith and now,
I'm ready to bear witness.
I think we saved the best...
...and most pink room for last. Wow!
It's incredible! Come on!
It's pink, girl. It's pink!
It's so good. I love it.
When we bought the motel
and we thought of the idea of it,
this is what I thought it would
look like.
It's like the essence of the Trixie
Motel. It's bright, it's pink.
It's fresh and new, but it also
looks like it's been here forever.
It's like fabulous and heightened,
but it actually feels personal.
It feels like you're in someone's
personal space.
This could be my living room.
I could live here.
The lobby's come so far
from being the dark,
disgusting Texas Roadhouse
we saw four months ago.
Look at this sh*t!
Remember, this was, like...
...a dark brown room.
And it had, like...
...stained leopard carpet.
It's just so much brighter now,
right?
It's so good.
The leopard print carpet that used
to be in here was frightening...
but just look at this pink
Terrazzo tile.
Now, this is fierce.
So, we got a little vintage
mixed in with the new stuff.
Yeah.
And look at this little, like...
...sitting area. Custom banquette.
So good, right? To go with
everything else custom in the space.
I love these weird fixtures.
I've never seen anything like it.
I love the post-modern design.
It really matches the aesthetic of
the motel.
Look at this little sitting area,
like, look at this.
It's really like a retro
conversation pit.
And we have the portrait
from your living room
now hanging above the fireplace.
Yeah, I'm gonna have to figure out
the big empty hole
in my real living room,
but I love that.
So, I really designed the room
around that
and when I designed this wallpaper,
I pulled in some of the cooler tones
from the painting to tie it back in.
Design-wise, you really gave me what
I wanted because
I really wanted this room to be like
someplace
everybody could come together.
You could have a conversation here
or you could be
working at one of those tables.
In the banquettes, we have places to
plug in your computer, your phone.
The fact that there is a fireplace,
there's video games,
there's books to borrow.
This whole room just feels like you
could use it
in a million different ways
and I'm happy to announce to
all of you here,
in the eleventh hour,
after a lot of work from David,
the liquor license came through.
Yes! Yeah! So, this beautiful bar
that you created
is actually gonna get a lot
of traffic.
I'm very happy to hear that.
Congrats.
I'm ready for a... That's huge!
...a rose spritzer.
Right here.
Let's role play.
My partner and I noticed you...
...from the banquette over there.
Can we buy you a drink?
Yes, because
there's actually a bar now.
David and I will work here and you
guys can sit.
Mama is ready for a drink.
I'll take anything, at this point.
We've gone from warm beer
to pink champagne.
Can you believe that this ceiling
used to be literally here?
It was, like,
the lowest ceiling here.
Opening it up and adding
the light fixture
has totally transformed the space.
Using these custom tiles
for the bar top.
It's gaggy. It was such a good idea.
And then, matching wallpaper.
Is this from the pool? Yeah.
Yes! Like, that is so gaggy.
We, we used this tile in so many
different spots.
I love that we have
the tile from the pool in here
because every thing's unique,
but still connected.
And the space is so functional.
I mean, if we get booked out
for parties and weddings,
you could set up catering there.
Service sinks, just like we have in
my bar in Milwaukee.
We can make any kind of drink,
c*ck.
We have a cooler for beer.
It's fabulous.
You know, what I really love...
is this little nook over here,
like a coffee moment,
with the record player;
I don't know, it's so cute.
There... this used to be a hallway.
This used to be a hallway.
That went straight to
the owners' suite.
Now the owners' suite
is a honeymoon suite.
Waiting for the permits was agony,
but the structural changes
make a world of difference.
This new bathroom is stunning.
Wow. The final reveal.
This doesn't even feel real.
I know. We're, we're done.
And it's perfect. It's perfect.
I love that we saved the lobby
for last.
Like, to me, this room is just the
cherry on top of a beautiful cake.
Yeah, we totally saved this for last
on purpose, not for permit issues.
No, that's true.
There was some bumps
along the way, but it makes it
even sweeter to get to this moment.
We made it! Without a day to spare.
Perfectly planned, you might say...
...and after finishing the check-in,
the exterior and the lobby bar,
we did go over budget,
but considering what we pulled off
in just four months,
I'm really amazed.
So, now that this place
is completely perfect...
...we have a party to plan.
That's the fun part.
We've invited all of our friends
and family...
...to come see the place. Yeah.
There's fashion designers,
drag queens,
arty promoters, managers.
There's a lot of industry people
that this first impression
is gonna be what helps us
make money back,
so this party has to be,
like... lit.
This is it! We did it!
Against all odds, I knew we would.
Oh, it's such a weird feeling.
I mean, all this work and time
and energy we put into this;
It's hard to even describe.
Very few people could really
understand this process,
but I... do think there's
one person who would.
Hello! Hi!
Wow!
Amazing.
I'm Ruby Montana and I used
to own this joint,
The Coral Sands Inn.
So good to see you.
Good to see you!
Trixie! Hi, it's been so long.
Good to see you, sweetie.
You too, honey.
I owned this place for nearly
22 years
and lived here for 21 of 'em.
You know, when you're selling
something that
is like your girlfriend,
you want to make sure she's treated
right, so that's a big deal.
Beautiful, right?
And we love the motel pink,
so we always knew
we were gonna keep it pink.
Yeah, yeah.
We just... fresh coat of paint.
Well, you're the one
who painted it pink.
Oh, yes. It was beige.
So, I painted it
entirely myself, with a brush.
You painted this whole thing
yourself with a brush?
Uh-huh. How long did that take?
24 hours, pretty much. Yeah, I bet.
Oh, my God!
You know how many people it took
with paint g*ns to do this?
Like, it was...
Well, I was 50 at the time!
I just would dangle from the roof...
...and start...
Oh, my God. Ruby...
50 years old, dangling from the
roof?
That's wild. Okay.
I wasn't a painter at heart... Yeah.
...you know? I mean, I didn't know
what I was doing,
I just figured I could do it
if I just was
you know, I was...
I was under the g*n.
Yeah!
Well, that's what we felt like...
'cos we're not an anything at
heart, so we had to figure out...
...how to do a lot of this! Yeah.
It was lot of trial and error,
that's for sure.
I... absolutely feel like it's still
part of my family.
I mean, it's been hard for me
not to just visit.
Oh, my goodness!
Ah, it's just spectacular!
I love it!
Yeah, it's cool, huh?
It's just really a trip!
A lot of pink!
You did good, boys.
Thank you so much. I mean...
...it's such a happy place. It is.
I've spent so much time here
ov... since we bought it...
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
...and I just... it's... there's
...something magical about it.
I was very...
worried about coming because
maybe she wouldn't look like
I thought she should!
Yeah! I was...
I might not love her anymore!
But I love her just as much...
...you know? She's transformed...
Good.
...in a beautiful way.
She's in good hands.
I'm excited about her again!
I was worried about you coming,
too, because next to us,
I mean, you'd be the only
person I know who cares about it...
...as much as we do.
Yeah, absolutely.
It really mattered to us that
you came today.
It means a lot. I was nervous, too.
This has been a community
for everyone,
but certainly g*y men and women
were very comfortable here and...
that was certainly one of my goals.
Everything turned out so beautiful.
Now, we're like,
"Do we have to let people in here?"
I know!
I... so, that's a tough one.
How did you do it?
How did you let people come
in and... and... and trample
and run about and then,
how did you manage this thing?
I mean, it was just a... a...
a lab our of love
and it became a...
sort of a big family project.
There were moments that were kind of
almost superhuman but...
the quality of the lifestyle of this
place makes it so worthwhile,
for all of these experiences,
no matter how difficult
they might be.
I'm excited to build
those memories here.
I'm excited to see you clean
a hotel room.
That's what I'm excited to see!
I can do it!
We really poured our heart and soul
into this place.
Yeah, well, it's very apparent.
Very apparent
and it's just beautiful.
Thank you so much, it means so much.
It's such a difference from when
I had it to...
which is what one hopes for.
You know, you want the next person
that takes the baton to
put their stamp on it
and to do their...
...heart and soul... and...
We definitely did that.
...it's so clear you did that!
It's so precious.
We care about this the spirit
of it and the history of it
we want it to continue as a motel.
We want people to come here
and be like,
"I will never forget I was here."
The Trixie Motel has my blessing.
I'm happy to pass the baton.
Can I show you some more rooms?
I'd love to see 'em, yeah.
Okay. Yeah.
They're all this amazing.
You're gonna...
you're gonna love them. Oh, good!
There's a few that I think...
I'm glad to hear it!
...you're gonna die for.
This whole experience would not be
complete without Katya coming.
I mean, this place is supposed to be
about vacation,
it's supposed to be about relaxing
and nobody likes not working
more than my business partner,
Katya.
Somebody let me out of here!
It smells like f*cking sh*t!
What a dump!
Hi. I'm Katya,
Trixie's much older sister.
Katya and I have been through
everything together.
We've travel led the world,
we've done television,
we've done music together
and only a good Judy like her
will tell me how this motel
actually is.
I was told that
it would be ready today.
This does not look ready.
For the last about four months,
Trixie has been MIA,
working on this stupid motel
and basically ignoring
every other responsibility she has,
like working with me, getting ready
for our tour.
She hasn't been rehearsing,
so if it's not absolutely
perfect and stunning,
I'm going to k*ll her.
Hello? Hi! Hi. Sorry I'm late.
I didn't want to come.
Oh, there is a door.
Oh, perfect, okay, yeah,
I'll just get...
The doors I've opened
in this industry.
Thanks.
Holy sh*t! I know.
It's very pink.
Hope you like it. It's very...
Hello. Hi. This is incredible. Hi.
Yeah, it's pretty amazing.
It's gaggy.
Oh, look, this is good. Yeah.
Yeah, I match the trees.
This is really great.
Well, we already have curtains.
Wow.
- We got little White Tr*sh chairs.
Wow. We just put these in;
These are custom chairs
and look at this terrazzo bar.
That's real, baby. Rich.
Yeah, you can't... You can't...
...get quality like that up north.
No.
Yeah, those are our trees.
Oh! Yeah.
For those long, lonely nights, baby.
They taste great.
Jesus Christ! I know, right.
I know.
Holy...
This is probably a new experience
for Katya.
She's in a motel room and
there's no cash on the nightstand.
Oh! Yeah.
What the f*ck is that?
We took that off your back.
Oh, I love this. I know, Mr. Peanut.
Oh! Oh, my God, you can't find
texture like that anywhere.
Not anymore.
Oh, sh**t! Whoopsie daisy! Oh!
Oh, no! Oh!
Let me see what you see.
Watching Katya interact with
the motel room
just makes me very hopeful
that our guests
are slightly more respectful...
and more hygienic.
So, not that it's a competition,
but what have you been doing?
You know I've been...
I've been laying down a lot.
I've been... yeah.
You... well, you're the doer,
I'm the... I'm the not doer.
In life, there's, like, doers
and there's talkers.
I don't like to talk either.
Right, exactly.
I don't like to do or talk.
I just be.
Yeah. You know, I'm very
existential.
You're ambitious,
but also not actually...
...aspiring.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Not even that? Werk. Not even that.
Don't put words in my mouth...
No, no, don't werk.
Well, one of the reasons
I wanted to do this,
because you and I have travel led
the whole world
and been in every single motel
and hotel
and it's a lot of bad places
out there.
There are a lot of ugly places
out there.
I mean, I have to say this is
absolutely stunning.
Yeah. It's absolutely stunning.
I'm very impressed and I don't think
I've been impressed
by anything you've done.
I mean, the music, ugh. Yeah.
The TV career, ugh. The stand-up.
The acting...
...mm. Yeah. But this is, Yeah.
Like, this is really great.
Do you feel stressed out about
the party tomorrow?
I don't know if you ever heard this
but g*y people...
...can be a little judge mental.
A little critical...
...yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
And you know drag queens
aren't exactly famous
for celebrating other
drag queens' successes.
No, they're gonna...
somebody's gonna show up late
and, like, fall into the pool
and die.
But, yeah, the party's tomorrow and
the stakes are extremely high
because it's not just drag queens.
It's DJ's, party promoters, models.
What are you gonna do
if it all flops?
I mean... If no one ever books
a room and you have to close
and it's the most embarrassing,
humiliating
failure in your whole life.
You ever think about that?
This is the first time
I've actually been...
...in one of these beds.
It's really comfortable.
Yeah.
We should watch something?
Want to watch a movie?
Oh, well, the rooms actually don't
have TVs.
This is more of an art piece,
you know.
We don't want people in their rooms
watching TV.
We want them socializing.
So, we have to...
...talk to each other?
Yeah, let's just, like
we can have a conversation. Okay.
How about that weather?
At least it's a dry heat.
We could just go to sleep. Okay.
Let's go to bed.
Goodnight, Katya. Goodnight, Daisy.
Well, okay.
I'm too excited to sleep anyway
and there's still one thing
I haven't seen yet.
Ah, excuse me. See you tomorrow.
Oh! Hi.
Hi. You're doing so good.
Erm, okay. Can I check in now?
Everybody in the neighbourhood's
been saying how
great the check-in girl is here and
I'm like "I know, it's almost like
she had a lifetime of experience."
I mean, I do have a lot
of experience but...
Well, I have good news for you.
Oh, my God, I'm getting checked in.
No. You've got the job.
This is a huge opportunity for
you...
and let's face it, you're
a completely out of work actress
and I really rescued you
in this situation, so
a little bit of, erm, gratitude...
...okay? I mean...
I have a lot to get ready
and I really need you to kind of
represent the company
a little bit here.
The body language... your shoulders
are all hiked up,
you look like
you're hyperventilating.
Oh, honey, are you getting a cold?
Oh, God.
Am I? I'm gonna call your doctor.
Er... OBGYN?
No! Maybe... Yeah. I'll call you.
Outdoor space is very versatile.
We've seen it host a wedding;
We've seen it with all these
beautiful lounge chairs.
And for our next act, we will see it
staged for a big opening party.
Oh!
Just when we've caught our breath.
We have invited the Who's Who
of q*eer culture in LA.
The most famous drag queens, some of
the most colourful people I know.
I mean, and it really is
the place to be.
Here it is.
Oh, my God, I love...
Well, I knew it'd be pink
but this is,
this is a delightful
assortment of pink.
We're at a drag queens' motel
in Palm Springs, California
during pride month and
there's an open bar.
What more do you need?
So, our friends are arriving
and as they're all shuffling in
impeccably dressed,
I'm remembering
that this isn't your usual VIP list.
These people are freaks.
I mean, these are my friends...
we're talking about.
It's not exactly the bridge club.
I'm so excited that I got the invite
for the reveal of Trixie's Motel!
Oh! So cool.
A motel built by a drag queen.
I... it's never happened.
I don't know, I don't...
I'm sceptical.
Our friends are also
judgement b*tches,
so I'm supported but also nervous.
I'm Fena Bar bit all and I'm here to
judge the Trixie Motel.
Hello, hello and welcome to
the Trixie Motel.
Thank you all so much for coming and
joining me and David here tonight.
We have dedicated four months...
...of our lives to this...
Yes, we have.
...we have spent so much money...
...on this... Yes, we have.
...and we've really tested
the patience of our relationship.
Yes, we have.
But, as you're about to see,
it all entirely paid off.
Before we start showing you some
of the most beautiful motel rooms
you've ever seen in your sad,
g*y lives,
we have some thank you.
I could not have done this
without... myself.
I think everything I did here
was so incredible
and I really surprised myself
every day.
Anyway. Bye.
Oh, I should thank other people.
Probably.
Okay. We could have never done this
without David Rios,
our Project Manager.
Thank you, David.
David, who, somehow,
is able to make the most impossible
things seem like,
"Oh, yeah, I do that every day".
My incredible assistant, Brandon,
who makes everything easier...
and Dani,
you're just an ultimate boss b*tch
and your creativity is so limitless.
For a drag queen to be able to tell
someone else to pull back,
you're amazing and this place is
so beautiful and I love you forever.
Thank you so much, Dani.
Obviously, I couldn't have done this
without David.
I love you so much and,
and if I didn't know you
and love you,
I would never even wanted to do it.
I only wanted to do this because
we got to do it together.
I love you. Love you, too.
David, do you have anything to say
to me?
Well, to be here tonight with our
friends and our family at this motel
that we have spent
the last few months
pouring our hearts and soul into,
it means so much to me.
You have built something so special
and I just want to say thank you.
I love you. I love you, too.
Now, before I got too emotional
and David gets too drunk,
I think we should look at some
rooms.
Are you guys ready to see the motel?
Shall we show 'em? Yeah, let's do
it.
For our first room,
we have Azalea Montoy
in the Pink Flamingo suite.
For our second room, we have
Fabeyonce McMichaels
in the Queen of Hearts.
Woo! Take it off!
Next up, we have Angelique
VaGorgeous
in the Atomic Bombshell room.
Everybody, let my mum go
in the front! She's very short.
I finally checked out
of the Atomic Bombshell.
They seem to have worked out
their kinks
and it's looking stunning,
my darlings.
Oh, I will be back!
And now feast your eyes on Marika
in the Flower Power room.
I am absolutely blown away.
Honestly.
You can't tell from my face
'cos it's frozen,
but this is incredible.
Drag queens, if you could step away
from the bar for five seconds
to look at the motel room, thank
you.
I don't know
who let this b*tch in here,
Jaymes Mansfield
is in the Yeehaw Cowgirl room.
Oh, my God!
Jaymes, I love you.
Next, we have my favourite room.
We have Alexa Cameron
in the Malibu Barbara room.
I love it. The attention to detail
is beautiful.
Each room is its own universe.
It... it's an expl*si*n
of creativity
and it's really, really beautiful.
And last, but not least.
Wow!
Oh, my God! A love story unfolding.
That doesn't look like a love story.
If the reaction tonight is any sort
of barometer
for how people feel
about this space,
I think it's gonna be pretty
spectacular.
The reveals are so crazy!
Like, beyond, beyond imagination.
There are so many things
to love in it.
Definitely the murals...
Definitely the murals...
...okay. And erm...
...for sure. And erm...
I can't believe what they did
in such a short period of time.
It's whimsical, it is so Trixie,
it's so Palm Springs.
I love the Trixie Motel!
I would definitely stay here,
for an ex... you know,
a smaller rate than usual,
maybe free, I like free.
Can I get
my name on the list, already?
I wanna be in
the Atomic Bombshell room.
If the motel has anything to do with
Trixie and her drag
anything like that, I'm sure
it's just gonna fall apart
in a few months, so...
book your room now.
