01x11 - A Brave's Teamwork

Post by bunniefuu »

This might be an impromptu lesson,

but it's nice and tense, right?

And don't pay me any mind.

I'll be seriously pissed off.

But, Master...

This is a live exercise!

Get to work!

Foul abomination!

I won't let you lay a claw on my Master!

Face judgment!

Jogamine, the vanguard.

She sucks, and fights like she doesn't.

But there's one thing
I can praise her for.

When "k*lling a human being"
doesn't factor into it,

she shows no hesitation.

Her biggest asset might be the
way she leaps in headfirst,

like she has no fear.

Indo, the support.

That teleportation power
is so strong, it's almost cheating.

Delivering fatal blows with
those knives isn't easy,

but they give her flexibility
in her maneuvers,

and Indo is the only one who can
accurately target their arm joints.

Sara being the finisher suits her.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised
that King Arthur's daughter

has the strength to cut those things
in half without much struggle.

But she can't be the one to decide
when to take action on her own.

This falls apart if she isn't
acting in sync with Jogamine.

I've got to get them on the same page.

Amplify their strengths,

and k*ll their bad habits.

All right.

That wasn't bad at all.

At this rate, if we take down two each,

we should be able to deal with this.

The real issue is...

Me.

May as well sacrifice my left arm.

Can't move it from my elbow down,

but I can raise it at the shoulder.

I'll use it to deflect this thing's claws.

My arm will be shredded,

but I've got time on my side.

More than enough time to bear
the pain and counterstrike.

What I really need is hope.

The hope that I can
actually pull this off.

Gotta focus my mind on
the good things in life.

Beer, pizza, and card games.

Jogamine...!

I told you to stay out of it!

What a relief!

If something had happened to you,

I would've lost all direction...

after finally meeting the
person I aspire to be like!

There's plenty of things
swirling around my brain,

but one thing is clear to me.

The reason I feel so crazy irritated
and angry when she does sh*t like this.

The thing she's aiming for...

is my ideal.

Merciful and full of tolerance,

someone who doesn't k*ll
anyone or let anyone die.

The kind of Brave that
anyone could respect.

The kind of Brave...

I wish I could be.

That I wished I could be.

But I couldn't do it.

I wasn't strong enough to achieve it,

or crazy enough to gamble
my life on striving for it.

I've been acting the same way
the people who make fun of someone

who wants to be an astronaut
or a soccer player do.

I look at Jogamine...

And I'm jealous.

Well, they're really going at it.

Did you set this up, Warped Garden?

Oh, never!

I imagine it's a rare show effort by the

Coffin Count of Storms to
actually entertain her guests.

I'm impressed!

If you're feeling entertained,

then things must be really screwed.

Oh my, are you afraid, Sir Silver Strings?

Don't tease, Sister.

You'll make Sir Silver Strings sulk.

Looks like the party's over.

I'm leaving.

There's the sulking.

Yes.

Of all the stupid moves to pull.

We could all die!

No, let's all return home alive!

I was taught that Braves
are meant to embody hope!

I can think of one way out of this.

It's all or nothing...

Literally our only hope.

More doses of E3.

Another two, and my arm leg and
arm will be healed in an instant.

But the side effects are gonna be awful.

Excessive ether contamination
can ruin someone, easily.

Hyperesthesia and a berserk
aggression response.

Plenty of people end up
never regaining control.

About 60% of people who
OD end up like that.

So, where do I fall in the percentage?

I was wondering why the giants
seemed to be struggling.

It's you.

You're really becoming quite the nuisance.

That voice...

These imperfect models
are no good after all.

We really don't have time to
waste in a place like this.

This job has turned harder than I hoped.

So, now what to do?

This saves me the trouble.

I was actually looking for you.

As messed up as I am,

I've got plenty of E3 on hand.

And you intend on using it?

Very good.

If you're lucky, you'll be able to
come back from it, like I did.

Levi, leave him to me. You go on ahead.

There's still three left.
I should be able to manage.

Where should we meet up once it's over?

I'm leaving two.

Master, please rest!

I will hold them off!

Your first apprentice! Me!

I'd back off if I were you.

You girls can't beat me
at your current level.

Oh, and you two!

If you stay out of this,
you're free to go.

Screw you!

He's not coming right at me.

Makes sense.

If I go for a suicidal attack,
it'd be bad for him.

The best hope for him is Sara
and Indo getting knocked out,

and then he corners us.

Do I use it now?

No. My arm should be usable
again in another minute.

If he's scoping out the situation,
that works out for me.

Time to buy a little bit more time.

Hey, pal, you ever hear
of a guy named Ishino?

He was this real creepy
b*stard who wore glasses.

Remember?

I'm pretty sure he's the one who chopped
off that useless left hand of yours.

Oh, he went by the Musician, right?

Then you really did know him?

I guess Levi's intuition really is sharp.

Have to say, he was a real handful.

Three of our people died...

And you see what happened to my arm.

Isn't that awful?

I was so pissed I stabbed
him, like, ten times.

But he wouldn't even scream.

Talk about pretentious.

I see.

So that's how it went down...

You look like you're having fun, Ido.

You enjoy this line of work?

I mean, you're kinda missing out if you
don't enjoy life to its fullest, right?

Hard to argue with that.

I guess that's one kind of powerful Brave.

Without pretentiousness or
concept of pride,

and nothing to lose apart from your life.

I bet guys like you end
up living a long time.

Except that...

you're about to die!

You sure about that?

The dead don't care about revenge.

Or so they say.

And among your average goody-two-shoes,

that'd probably be the case.

But I know him. I know what he'd say.

"You had better avenge me."

"Visit the most horrible things
you can imagine upon them..."

"And make a recording of their suffering."

Yukine!

I can... still fight...

This time, I'll...!

Hey, move aside!

I won't!

I consider this to be another trial!

Trial, my a*s.

There's a chance...

That if my leg was more healed...

I might've cut through
Jogamine to get to him.

She's such a damn nuisance.

It's irritating. And so stupid.

And thanks to that...

I've calmed down some.

I'm telling you, it's pointless.

Hey, idiot.

You really think this is
the time to be playing fair?

Read my mind.

Right!

A downwards swing.

Not as intense as the first one.

I can tell from how he's
shifting his weight.

He intends to back off after striking.

You wanna defend while
flanking to the stairs.

Very good.

Next, aim for the left hand.

He'll dodge, but the point
is making him step back.

Go up the stairs.
Don't let him take higher ground.

He's gonna strike at your torso again.

Head towards him,
use the shield to parry...

And aim for his arm.

Ido still hasn't mastered
that oversized left arm.

Stay close so that the power of
that two-handed sword is blunted.

Overwhelm him with multiple strikes.

Don't slash. Go for thrusts.

Yes, Master!

What's with her?

She's suddenly leveled up!

With Jogamine moving the
way I think she should,

she can put up a decent fight.

Another ten...

Five seconds...

And then an opening.

That's all I need...

Damn it!

...to end this.

Damn, that hurts!

What... is this...?

That was a pretty weird death cry.

Ishino must've been dumber than I
figured, if he lost to this loser.

When I see him in hell,
I'm gonna talk so much sh*t.

Jogamine Aki.

The daughter of my master.

She's...

I'm a Brave.

If not, what else could I be?

Next time, Episode 12,

"A Brave's Secret."
