Everything that you could think of

it does happen
in the northern border as well.

We've had a 3,000% increase
in drug seizures

since the beginning of COVID.

Our weapons seizures are up over 100%.

In this line of work,

Some of these organizations
that are bringing drugs in

like to use travelers
that look like everyday ordinary people

coming and going shopping,

but they're involved
in the criminal organization.

I smelled an odor coming from the vehicle,

so I immediately took

the center console of the vehicle,

and that's when I spotted cocaine
and marijuana as well.

Right now,
we're under the essential travel ban,

so we get wrong turns all the time
and we will get seizures off of them.

if it tests positive for marijuana.

just look into this a little bit further,"

so that's when I asked her
to open up the trunk.

Just from checking so many bags
throughout the day,

one of the plastic bags
was a little heavier

than I thought it should've been.

That's when I found the packages
consistent with narcotics.

We wanna make sure that
we are thoroughly checking everything

that was packaged
along with the narcotics.

So, we are going to break up the cheese.

Sometimes they get creative, you know?

They utilize food
to conceal their narcotics.

It doesn't even look normal.

What they do is they use masking agents
around the vehicle.

This cheese has a very potent scent,

so most likely they think

that the dogs aren't gonna pick up
on the scent of the narcotics.

Dishwashing soap,
plastic wrap, carbon paper,

and then it's in Tupperware.

They were really not thinking
to get caught today.

So just by looking at it,
I'm gonna say it's black tar heroin.

But we're gonna use a test kit
just to be 100% sure.

Green would be positive for heroin.

Oh, yeah.

It's positive for heroin.

We don't wanna assume
that it's all the same type of narcotic,

so we're opening up a second package.

So that's a lot,

and figure out what type of narcotics

This would be cocaine right here
and this would be heroin.

TABONE: I just gotta get some information.

Here at the border, narcotics are ill*gal.

I understand that you didn't try to
or want to go to Canada,

But we tested it, it was cocaine

and then, also,
the brown stuff was brown heroin.

So, it's personal small amounts,
you're not under federal arrest.

You're just being detained right now
because we found the illicit drugs.

You guys are together,
so we're gonna go through the process...

So, the marijuana
will be seized either way.

I believe they're taking it lightly.

I don't think they understand the concept

to bring narcotics

or be in possession of narcotics here.

We have to make our calls
to our Homeland Security Investigators

just to tell them what we have.

There's always options
of getting an arrest by local police.

It's gonna be up to them.

It's just our protocol.
We have a standard way of doing things.

MAN 2: That was a God-honest mistake.

Homeland Security Investigators,

see if they're interested
in coming out for a deeper investigation.

If not, we'll contact
our local police department,

Buffalo Police Department,

and see if they have
any interest of making an arrest.

and we'll see what else comes in.

so that we can test it, weigh it,

and figure out what is in there.
