01x05 - The Remote Island Village

Post by bunniefuu »

[narrator] Leader of

the winged knights Edil

turns out to be

an old friend of Helck.

He reveals that humans have

awakened as heroes

growing more powerful.

Hyura defeats Edil,

yet he is k*lled by one

of his own comrades.

Meanwhile, below the castle,

a mysterious gate pulls

Helck and Vermilio

into an unfamiliar land.

[opening theme]

[THE REMOTE ISLAND VILLAGE]

[dramatic fanfare]

[Hon] Lord Azudra,

I have dreadful news.

[Azudra] What happened?!

[Ista] What? Lady Vermilio

has gone missing?

This can't be happening.

Wait. Stop.

Do not go into panic mode.

In times like these,

the most important thing

to do is keep your cool.

[Azudra gagging]

- That's not good!

- I-it's my fault

that my little Vermy

You need to get a

hold of yourself.

Please, Lord Azudra.

[waves crashing]

Ah!

I know what this is.

It's the sea.

I saw it once when

I was a little kid.

We must have been sent

all the way

to the edge of the continent.

Ah!

There's no toxin

here whatsoever.

It's incredible

how nice it feels

to be somewhere free of it.

I had forgotten.

[playful music]

I wonder how long it'll take

to make my way back

to the empire.

I need to get there as

soon as I can.

Well, at least I got sent

to such an abundant land.

If this place had been barren,

I would most likely die

of starvation

even without the toxin.

[rhythmic clanging in distance]

There's a rhythmic sound

in the air.

It's definitely not natural.

Is somebody else here?

Wait, what if it's Helck?

Ew, Wait! That means this

is his dingy cape. Ugh!

[Vermilio sniffing]

Guess it doesn't smell too bad.

Snap out of it and get focused!

Okay, Helck. Where are you?

And what are you up to?

[rhythmic clanging continues]

Stay alert.

I can't let my guard down.

Helck is the enemy.

Aha! Wait, you're kidding.

Oh my God!

No way! He built a

whole fricking house!

I knew the guy had talent,

but this is just stupid.

[bush rustling]

[playful music]

Um, okay.

What are you?

Salutations!

Uh?

Uhh, salutations!

Um, hi. It's nice to meet

you, but please keep it

[Vermilio gasps]

[Vermilio screams]

Hey, good to see

that you're awake.

Don't sneak up

on me like that!

[Helck laughs]

Sorry.

I can't believe

I let that happen.

I'm such an idiot!

He could have

k*lled me just now.

So, are we going to fight?

Right here?

[Piwi] I see you

finished the house.

Yep. I couldn't have done

it without your help, Piwi.

- Thanks, a bunch for you-

- You're very welcome.

Helck, why would you

build an entire house?

You kidding? Sleeping in

a house is way better than

spending the night

on the ground.

I mean, it could rain

or something.

[Piwi]

Oh, it's gonna rain.

Well, how long are you

planning to stay here?

I mean, is this your new home?

'Course not. But since we

won't get back anytime soon,

I decided to make us

a base of operations.

What do you mean we

can't go back? Why not?

Well, we found ourselves

stuck on an island,

which means that walking

back isn't really an option.

What?! An island?!

You mean we're not on the

edge of the continent?!

[Helck]

I took a quick loop around

the whole thing

in just a few minutes.

- [Piwi] Welcome to paradise.

- [Helck] Ooh! [laughs]

We really did end up in the

last place anyone would expect.

No, it can't be.

But hey, at least

it's a nice place.

I can dig it.

Well, I don't!

And quit being so blasé!

Ugh! How could things

possibly get any worse?

[raindrop splattering]

Oh.

[rain pattering]

Whoopsie, here comes the rain!

[Helck laughs]

Let's get in the house!

[Piwi] Splash, splash, splash!

Huh?

On the bright side,

I guess now the empire

is free from the

threat of Helck.

Hey, what you doing?

I'm sure as hell not going

into a house the enemy built.

[fun dramatic music]

Oh crap!

[Vermilio gasps]

What the? What are you doing?

Put me down!

[music continues]

Woo! All safe.

Safe and dry. Sweet.

Damn it, Helck!

Why don't you leave me alone?!

Easy, Anne from

management. It's okay.

[Vermilio] No, it's not!

[inspirational music]

[Helck] This island is

full of good-quality trees.

We can use them to

build a sturdy boat.

It'll be our ticket

back across the ocean.

You and I will get back

to the Demon Realm.

I promise.

We'll make it there.

So don't you give up

on me just yet.

We're in this together.

Uh, okay.

[Vermilio gasps]

Why the hell did I just agree?!

I can't let this guy back

into the Demon Realm!

Or we'll be right back

to square one!

[Helck laughs] Don't look so

frowny-downy, we're all good.

- The rain stopped.

- Wow. Nice.

Well, if I think about it,

the big lummox did jump

in and try to save me

when I was getting

pulled into the gate.

It would've been easier

for him just to run away.

[inspirational music continues]

But why come after me?

On top of that,

the entire time

we've been here,

he's had plenty of chances

to k*ll me, but hasn't.

All righty. Who's hungry?

Let's go look for some food.

Yeah, I'm a scoot.

Just who are you

Helck the hero?

[regal orchestra music]

[Azudra] I had already surmised

the winged knights were humans,

but not that they

had awakened as heroes,

and a spatial-teleportation

spell.

That would explain why

they weren't taking

any further action.

Hmm.

Quite curious.

It's not normal for their

magic abilities

to grow so drastically.

Must be this "hero awakening."

I've never heard

of such a spell.

Was the spellcaster born

into the human realm?

Or is it something else?

[Hon] Um, if I may, now

that you've calmed down,

will you please tell us what

the plan is moving forward.

[Azudra] Hmph!

As if you need to ask.

This is a race against time.

If the humans manage to

fully evolve into heroes,

they will be too much

for us to handle.

Yes sir. We'd be crushed.

So, we send out a search party.

[Hon] Huh?

From what you were saying,

the next logical step would be

to attack the human realm.

Are you nuts?!

There's no way in hell

that I can fight anybody

in this condition.

I'm worried sick about

Vermi-germy!

I'm an emotional wreck!

If we expect to have

any chance at all,

we need to find Vermi-germ and

bring her back safe and sound!

But, sir, many of our troops are

already deployed either

protecting the north,

or out slaying monsters.

And if you consider

that a battle

with the humans

looms on the horizon,

it will be pretty

much impossible

to organize a search party

large enough to find her.

I mean, the continent is huge.

I'm afraid it could be many

years before she is ever found.

[Azudra laughs]

[Azudra] We don't need

a large search party.

[Hon] Huh?

We're going to use

a locator spell.

- Uh?

- And what is that sir?

[Azudra] It was created

as a safety measure

for when we send people

to unexplored territories.

It'll give a rough

location of her position.

Incredible! There's nothing

you can't do is there?

[Hon] But, Lord Azudra,

I'm fairly certain

that spell requires

a physical piece

of the person you're tracking.

We don't have any

of Lady Vermilio's

fingernails or hair. Aah!

Excellent. Turns out

Vermi-germy's little haircut

right before she left

was perfect.

Oh! So wait a second,

are you telling me that

you actually kept a lock

of Lady Vermilio's hair?

- Uh

- Whoa! Easy there,

I'm not some sort of sicko.

I would never keep

any of her hair.

Although I did try to take some.

[fire whooshing]

but it caught fire the

moment I touched it.

[Azudra screaming in pain]

[Hon] So you are

some sort of sicko?

And, we still need to come

up with something else.

I have some of her hair.

Where I come from, when

someone we care about

leaves on a journey,

we have a custom of keeping

a small bundle of their hair

believing it will bring

luck and keep them safe.

You can use it for the spell.

Well, that solves the

problem. How convenient.

[Azudra] Really, I'm

the sicko? What about her?

Whatever. Let's put the

locator spell into action.

Hon! Prepare me a map

- and wooden figurine.

- [Hon] Right away!

[Azudra] I put Vermi-germ's hair

inside the figurine.

Then activate the spell.

[magical whooshing]

It should cause my

handsome likeness to move.

And wherever it stops

that's where my Vermi-germy is!

[dramatic music]

Ah sh*t!

[Hone] That's not

even on the map.

[Azudra]

Well, maybe she got sent

completely off

the continent?

- Huh?

- What should we do now, my Lord?

[Azudra] I don't know.

- Huh?!

- Hmm.

[dramatic fanfare]

[Ista] Asta, did you hear me?

[Asta] Yeah, I did.

[Ista] Well, that's the deal.

We're counting on you.

Just promise me you won't

go overboard this time.

[Asta] Yeah, yeah, sure.

I'll be in touch with

you again soon. See ya!

How about that?

It turns out the winged knights

are actually human.

That would explain why

there are so many of them.

And even worse,

they're all apparently

hero status.

That's pretty terrifying,

to be honest.

Anyway, Lady Vermilio

will make it back.

And in the meantime,

I need to get

as much intel as I can

for when she does!

Okay. Time to go overboard.

For the lasting peace of

the empire, let's do this!

[waves crashing]

[Vermilio sighs]

Keep at it.

You'll catch one soon!

Oh, no, sorry.

I wasn't sighing because

I haven't caught a fish.

- Stay positive!

- Keep your chin up!

Thanks

[Vermilio sighs again]

I don't know what to think.

[ominous music]

When we fought

the winged knights,

Helck didn't raise

a finger against them.

In fact, he helped them

by stopping Hyura.

So either way I look at it,

he's not on our side.

However, his conduct thereafter

has made me uncertain.

Why didn't he k*ll me?

Why save me?

Does he need me somehow?

And for what exactly?

Maybe he is our ally!

But if that's the case, why

protect the winged knights?

I just don't know!

Ugh! This is getting

absolutely nowhere!

Keep it up!

You'll catch one soon!

Maybe I should just ask

Helck about his motives.

No! That might be

a pandora's box.

[water splashes]

[Piwi gasps]

If he proves himself to be a

threat, we will have to fight!

[fire whooshes]

And there's no way I could

survive such a battle.

In fact, dying without

bringing him down is

the worst case scenario.

He could just go back

and face the empire

without any opposition.

We'd be doomed!

[water splashing]

[Vermilio] Well, I guess,

we do have Lord Azudra.

- [Piwi talks indistinctly]

- I may hate his guts,

but in the right conditions,

he's still the strongest

of the Elite Lords.

Even if he's an idiot.

Perhaps leaving things

ambiguous is the

safest way to play this.

- For now anyway.

- There's a fishy!

- This sucks.

- Fish! Fish!

- No matter what I do.

- Fish! Get it!

Come on! You gotta

pull your string

or the fishy will get away!

[Vermilio gasps]

[playful music]

This is one strong fish!

Seriously, you can't

just swing it around,

the string's going to break.

You gotta make it tired,

then pull that sucker up!

Right! Gotcha!

[fish splashing]

What? How the hell

can such a little thing

be so damn strong?!

Because plankton

is a super food!

Well, you messed with the

wrong demon, for I am the Elite-

Anne from Management.

I'll never lose to a fish!

[string pings]

[both scream]

Sorry. Guess I should have known

better than to rush it. But

Hey! Don't look all

birdie at me!

[triumphant music]

[Helck] Don't give up now!

[Vermilio] What the Helck?

[Helck splashes]

What is he- What is he doing?

[triumphant music]

[Vermilio gasps]

Anne, you really know your

stuff. Check out your catch.

Quite a haul.

[cheery music]

Got yourself a whopper!

That's not even a fish!

I mean, what the hell's that

thing's supposed to be?!

It was chilling

on the ocean floor.

[Piwi] Careful guys,

that thing looks poisonous.

[Piwi] Okay. I'm a scoot.

[Helck] Goodnight! Be safe!

[Piwi] Absolutely!

[calm music]

[waves crashing]

[calm music continues]

I brainstormed our

situation yesterday,

but fell asleep without

coming to a decision.

[calm music continues]

I've no idea

where he got these,

but I have to admit, my

pajamas are pretty darn comfy.

Guess nobody sprung my

trap last night.

[fire whooshes]

Regardless, I can't

afford to get lax.

[knocking on door]

Hmm?

Who's there?

Maybe it's the fuzz ball.

Where in the heck is Helck?

[knocking continues]

Hang on, I'm coming!

[door creaking]

'Sup, G?

Who in God's name are you?

Uh, I'm like the

dude on a mission

to bring you your breakfast.

[Vermilio] Breakfast?

Somebody ate half of it.

Oh yeah. Got the mad

munchies on the way here.

But I did save you some.

You're welcome!

I never asked for breakfast,

so it doesn't really matter.

So, you can have the rest

if you want it.

But, who was it that

cooked all of this anyway?

So I can have it? Thanks, yo!

Well guess I'm gonna

bounce now. Peace out!

Um, I asked you a question!

[Hipponik] Oh, the village

chief told me to bring it.

[Vermilio] Village chief?

Interesting.

So there are inhabitants

here after all.

That must be where Helck

got all the supplies.

'Kay, I'm gonna bust

on outta here.

Wait! I have a little

favor to ask of you.

Uhh

Here we are!

This is it, where we live!

Can you guess which

one is my house?

Come on, let's just

keep going, okay.

Booya! That's my house

right there. [laughs]

Yeah, yeah. It's very nice.

[Hipponik laughs]

Are there any

other villages here?

[Hipponik] Nah, nothing like

that. Just a few homes, holmes.

So you are the only ones

living here on the island?

Word, just us, living

large, being free.

You know, this is the

first time I met somebody

from outside the island.

I'm like getting hyped

up, fo sho!

Is that so?

They're so isolated.

They're not even wary

of strangers.

[Vermilio gasps]

[screaming]

[villagers screaming]

You big nincompoop! Why

did you bring her here?!

Nevermind. It seems

most of the villagers are

pretty cautious towards

us, as they should be.

Aw shiz!

I totally pooched it!

I'm so gonna get chewed

out for this one, dawg.

Didn't mean to get

you in trouble. Sorry.

[footsteps retreating]

[Piwi] Annie!

[playful music]

Good morning!

Whoa, back off!

I do not like it

when people get

to clinging onto me!

Well, you sure are

soft and fluffy.

Annie, you stink

like an old lady.

What?! Old lady?!

Granny? Guess what?

Look, I don't do nicknames.

Helck said he's

gonna make a boat.

Wait, what?! Where is he?

Where is he right now?

He's right there.

[dramatic music]

There's no way he could have

figured out the way back yet.

Oh crap. It hardly took him

long to build that house,

which means he can

build a boat in no time.

I cannot let him make

it back home.

[Vermilio gasps]

There you are!

[dramatic music intensifies]

Whoa, he's emitting

some sort of aura.

I'm sensing an

incredible energy.

How far has he gone to

hide his true power?

[Helck's axe whooshes]

Holy Jesus H!

[axe splintering]

He hit it so hard the

axe shattered to pieces!

This guy is ridiculous!

[Helck groans]

Too bad. Now, you can't

make your damn boat!

[triumphant music]

Hyah!

Ha!

Ee-yah!

Son of a-

How can he do crap like that?

Huh?

Oh! Gotta keep it down.

Squeak, squeak.

What the hell are you doing?

[whispering] I got you covered.

I'm just a little bird over here

making little birdy sounds.

Squeak, squeak. Squeak.

Oh, hey there. I thought

I heard something.

[Piwi trembles]

[triumphant music continues]

What's up Anne from management?

I heard that you

were building a boat.

So, did you figure out

which way to go?

Oh no, no. Not yet.

But I wanted to be prepared

to leave immediately

once we figured it out.

So if the boat's built,

we'll be ready to go.

Okay, so you haven't

learned anything yet.

Aw, don't look so glum

about it. It's only day two.

No need to rush. Take it slow.

Huh?

Oh, sure.

[waves crashing]

[somber music]

Are those, ancient ruins?

I've been finding

them everywhere.

A long time ago, this island

might have been a

hip happening place.

Yo, Piwi, your ancestors

build all these?

I don't know.

Where in the hell are we?

And why does it feel

so familiar?

[Helck] All righty!

That'll do her.

What? You already

built the boat?

[bell dings]

[flag flapping]

The quality of your work

is lacking this time.

[cloaked figure]

So this is where you

wretched outsiders

have been hiding.

[tense music]

It appears you think

you could just show up

and do whatever you please.

[tense music continues]

Come along, infidels, it's

time we had ourselves a chat.

[music intensifies]

[ending theme]

[narrator] Next time: "Invasion"
