01x10 - To Be Honest, I Want to Marry You, Part Three

Post by bunniefuu »

[cloth rustles]

[Azami sighs]

[clanking]

[thuds]

[grunts]

[breathes shakily]

[grunts]

[bites]

[Kirishima groans]

[KIRISHIMA]

I know you.

You're Azami Suo!

[Azami chuckles]

[bottle shatters]

[straining]

[Minami grunts]

What are you doin'

on Osaka turf, curly?

I'm pretty sure

you're a Tokyo boy.

I mean, that's not

where I was born, so no.

You Yakuza are all the same,

constantly laser-focused

on your territories.

[Minami groans]

[groans]

[crashes]

[YOSHINO] Your right!

Right, right, right!

Not there!

Over here!

[Naoya groans]

[Ozu breathing shakily]

[OZU]

sh*t.

[YOSHINO]

Hello again, Ozu.

[gasps]

Still feelin' thirsty, champ?

Got plenty to talk about

while we go for another round.

TO BE YOU TO MARRY I

WANT HONEST, PART THREE

[YOSHINO] Enough!

Give it a rest!

[KIRISHIMA]

Come on, I just wanna

sew it a tiny, little bit!

Yeah, no.

I'll sew it up myself later!

But it's a gaping tear that

goes all the way up your leg.

You don't wanna go

flashing your panties, right?

[YOSHINO]

I ain't flashin' sh*t!

And where did you even get

a needle

and thread from anyway?

I stopped

at a convenience store

on the way here.

Oh,

I also bought some ice to

make a cold compress for you.

Will you quit

with dang the naggin' already?

[sighs]

Your skirt aside,

I won't ever understand

how anyone could hit a face

that looks

as gorgeous as yours!

Thought you got

that out of your system

with the beating you gave him!

[YOSHINO] The creep might

really be dead this time.

[glass thuds]

Uh!

[lighter clicks]

Wow.

That's a real 180

from the guy

I was drinking with before.

So, hi.

You may have guessed,

but I'm not Mai Suzuki.

I'm Yoshino.

Based on how well

you seem to know Kirishima,

surely you've heard of me.

Nao couldn't be here

with us tonight,

but you don't care

if I handle this on her behalf.

Since I'm the reason

you were blackmailing her,

I feel like it's only right.

The reason for what now?

Why would he blackmail her

'cause of you?

I figured you'd be aware.

What all do you actually

know about this?

[YOSHINO]

I know about Room 2051

at the Grand Residence in Kobe.

Tch!

The place Ozu and his g*ons

made their hideout.

Very swanky digs, rich boy.

Rent there must be k*ller.

[inhales]

I'll admit it took

way too much work

to track you

and your band of losers,

but since all Kirishima knew

was that

you lived somewhere in Kobe,

I'll still take a kudo

or two for locating you.

[YOSHINO]

After a three-hour stakeout,

I spotted a car

with a Tokyo license plate.

Decided to tail it and was led

straight to this hotel.

Imagine my surprise

when the sleazeballs

Shiori Akaza hired stepped out.

I had no clue what you were

doin' with 'em, Ozu.

but I assumed

if they were in Osaka,

there was a good chance

they were lookin'

to get back at Kirishima.

So, I called him

to get him up to speed

and the rest

snowballed from there.

That's pretty much all I know.

That isn't

where this story ends.

Once you got off

the phone with me,

what'd you do to keep Ozu

from leaving the hotel?

Oh, I went up real flirty-like

and asked if he wanted

to grab a quick bite.

Un-freaking-believable.

Ozu, what kind of saint

were you in a past life

to get hit on by her?

No fair.

- [YOSHINO] You're

the unbelievable one. -Tch!

- Hm?

- Hm?

[OZU]

Sorry, detectives,

but there's been

a big misunderstanding.

For starters,

I haven't blackmailed anybody.

I heard about Miyama and Nao

so all that I'm guilty of

is being apprehensive, I guess.

I was worried

she'd ruin her whole career

for the sake

of a couple of good lays.

- Yeah, that tracks.

- [Kirishima laughs nervously]

Look, I just wanted to

be friends with her again,

nothing more and nothing less.

If you think

I'd ever extort her,

then you're delusional.

Getting with a Yakuza's

grandson is one thing,

but doing it

before starting a job

with a ton of media scrutiny

is straight up brainless.

When you screw a Yakuza,

you're actually

just screwing yourself.

Hmm?

Hang on a sec.

Uh.

We used to date, too,

and with that kind of history

comes a certain

protective instinct.

Like, there was no way

I wasn't going to

at least voice my concerns.

Man, hearing you BS like that

makes me

even more impressed with you.

Hm?

You manage

to skirt all the rules,

and when you almost

cross the line,

you ensure you never

leave any evidence.

And the reason I know that

is 'cause I was

looking for dirt on you.

But your record's

as clean as a whistle.

[chuckles softly]

There's no denying

how thorough you are

when it comes

to being cautious.

It's too bad

the same doesn't hold true

for your parents.

Oh?

On the surface,

both of their records

look as pristine as yours does.

Your dad's

a big business executive

and your mom's a freelance

news reporter and announcer.

And according to

an online article I read,

we're gonna see her

as a main anchor

for a show starting this fall.

With their baby boy maturing

and starting

his own career path,

you really are the model family

from any angle.

Except for one, maybe.

Poor timing on her part.

[SAKIKO'S PARTNER]

Don't you need to go?

[Sakiko breathing heavily]

[SAKIKO] It's fine.

I said I was working.

[SAKIKO'S PARTNER]

You're too sexy

to have a kid in college,

Sakiko.

[SAKIKO] Oh, come on.

Don't start.

- [SAKIKO'S PARTNER] It's true.

- [Sakiko laughs]

[Ozu grunts]

Yeah.

So messed up, right?

I mean,

that is your mommy, isn't it?

I promise I wasn't the guy

in the video

but I did arrange it.

You as*h*le!

[KIRISHIMA]

What are you mad about?

Your whole business model

revolves around setting up

encounters like that.

But, instead of preying

on the women

from your dad's agency,

I got in touch

with your mother.

Now, let's recap.

The punks you brought to Osaka

and the brains behind

the operation are gone.

You're the only one left.

[breathes heavily]

So you're gonna

agree to get rid

of all your scandalous info

on Nao Shiota

and never contact her again.

Erasing that might make me

consider erasing this.

[sighs]

[OZU] You're so convinced

you've got me beat

but all I have to do

is go to the cops

and tell them the Yakuza

are threatening me.

[exhales]

I'm not like you

bottom tier trash,

so people will listen

when I talk,

and you know

my word would trump yours.

I could easily ruin your lives,

but if you wanna see how bad,

go ahead.

- Hm?

- Hm?

- Hm.

- Hm.

I'm actually in a position

to ruin your life, too, Ozu.

Huh?

Okay.

While giving alcohol to a minor

and then pressuring her

to drink

isn't the worst offense,

it sure ain't good.

It'll still dirty up

your spotless reputation

if I make enough of a fuss.

What?

When did I do that?

Earlier tonight, you told me

to have a few drinks with you, remember?

Then you pressured me

when I started to refuse.

Bottom line,

you gave me alcohol.

Which is kind of a big deal

since I'm still underage.

What?

Underage?

There's no way in hell

you aren't old enough to drink!

It says my birthday

right here on my ID,

so shut your stupid face,

dickhead!

And I don't know

why you bothered playing

the "I'll ruin your lives"

card, anyway.

I think

you're missing the plot.

You couldn't ruin our lives

if you tried.

The only people

that kind of threat might scare

are the ones

who have a whole lot to lose,

like you do.

But me?

I ain't got a damn thing that

I'm not willin' to part with.

[gasps]

[YOSHINO] I dare you

to try and wreck our lives.

Go right ahead.

Because it'll give me

all the reason I need

to put a total end to yours.

[breathes shakily]

Well, there you have it,

tough guy.

You end us, and we'll end you.

So whaddaya say?

Agree to our terms and take

the easy way out of this,

or decline?

Surely you realize which is

the smartest move you can make,

considering all the headaches

you've given me

over the past few months.

[sighs]

[OZU]

All right.

What's all right?

I don't ever wanna

see your shitty faces again,

so I'll leave you guys alone.

And that also goes

for Nao Shiota.

[grunts]

[NAO]

You better mean it.

Because you're on record.

[sighs]

I can't even remember

the last time

I saw you this beat up, Shoma.

Good grief.

How badass was he?

Not much.

[YOSHINO] Ah, guess your ego

got bruised, too.

I can't believe you used

this hunk of junk

to tail them here.

Why?

Aren't spies

supposed to be subtle?

[YOSHINO]

It ain't like I'm a pro!

[SHOMA] But who would

tail someone in a mini-truck?

I didn't want anyone noticin'

I left the house

and this was

all that I could find!

So sue me!

[YOSHINO]

Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky, sneaky.

- Tch!

- Excuse you!

Why didn't you answer

your phone

when I called before?

Hm?

Um, I just

got wrapped up.

- [Shoma sighs]

- To be honest with you,

I didn't expect Kirishima

to drag you into all of this.

And even after

I found out he did,

I assumed you'd be fine.

If there's one thing I know

you're good at, it's fightin'.

Then you went and got

your a*s handed to you.

- [SHOMA] Huh?

- It was a joke!

I was just kidding!

[sighs]

Anyway, who were those guys?

- [SHOMA] Which guys?

- From the karaoke place.

Were they Yakuza?

[SHOMA] Three were

typical bag-snatchers,

but one dude had a Yakuza vibe.

Hm.

[SHOMA]

So this Ozu kid,

he's the son of

an Embrace Productions VIP,

ain't he?

Yeah.

Why?

'Cause that place has had ties

to the Tokusa clan

for a good while now.

So they're like a front?

Kirishima helps 'em out,

or I guess the Miyama family

if you wanna get technical.

Meaning if the guy

I fought was Yakuza,

then he ain't

with the Tokusa clan.

Huh.

That's more than

I would've thought you knew.

The real question is

why did these guys

have to act in Osaka?

Seems really

out of the way for them.

I figured that sorry squad

was out for revenge

as soon as I recognized them,

and Ozu was just

stuck with the bill.

Whether or not

he had beef with Kirishima,

I didn't know.

[OZU]

And so there I was,

stressing over how

I'd explain it all to my dad

without him

getting on my case about it.

When my guardian gangster

reached out to me.

Now I'm thinking someone else

threatened Ozu

into reluctantly

footing the bill for this job.

But that still doesn't explain

why they had to strike

while we were in Osaka.

[SHOMA]

Hmm.

I'm trying to warn you

about the infighting

that'll erupt soon.

[SHOMA]

How much do you remember

about what you heard?

[YOSHINO]

A bit.

[exhales]

Mind telling me

all the finer details

about it later on?

Oh.

I guess I could do that.

[NAO]

Do you think this will help

or is it useless?

At this point, I'm gonna have

to say that it's the latter.

But I wouldn't stress.

I'm fairly confident

Ozu-kins got the idea.

Messing with you would

cause him a world of trouble

and he's not that stupid.

He's got a college education,

after all.

[NAO]

Hmm.

[KIRISHIMA] Still, I'd stay out

of the shadows if I were you.

This is one of those instances

where having your face and name

in public view is safer.

I would've done that

without your advice.

Do you always act like

you're the smartest guy

in the room?

Kinda amazed that

Yoshino girl puts up with you.

Which reminds me,

there was something

I wanted to ask you about.

[NAO]

And that would be?

So, when you met Yoshino,

did she happen

to name drop me at all?

- What?

- Since you talked long enough

to exchange contacts with her.

I wondered if the conversation

ever veered off toward me.

[NAO]

In what type of way?

Maybe like,

how I'm a real scumbag,

but also super-hot?

Not that she'd say that.

I think you mean super moronic.

But, no. She didn't say

anything even remotely close.

So wipe that

hopeful look off your face.

Your chances with her

seem pretty grim.

I should've

guessed as much, heh.

Cut your losses now

and give up on her.

That girl is way

too dumb for you

and has a nasty attitude.

Just saying is all.

Hm.

[NAO]

She's nothing like the girls

I know you've been with.

Hard to believe your taste

in women changed that much.

I don't get it.

[KIRISHIMA]

And yet, she's the dumb one.

It's true that you're smart,

cute, considerate,

and on top of it all,

you're great in the sack.

Thing is, though

I want Yoshino.

I'd crawl in bed with

total strangers for her sake,

so don't think

you're something special.

[gasps]

[thwacks]

Huh?

[chuckles softly]

You baited me into hitting you.

Aw, you could tell?

[car revving]

Delete my info from your phone

because we won't

see each other ever again.

I was already planning

to delete all the accounts

I used to contact you.

You won't have

to worry 'bout me.

You know

you really are an awful person.

- [YOSHINO] Oh! Hey!

- Hm?

I was looking for

you.

Huh!

Hmph!

INDEPENDENT TAXI

[car accelerates]

[KIRISHIMA]

You're alone.

Where did

the broody one get to?

Is he okay?

Oh, yeah.

He's fine.

But he rode here

on his motorcycle

and since he couldn't

just leave it,

I told him he should

make his way home before us.

I'm not really

in a state to drive,

so I'm waiting for someone

to pick up my ride.

[KIRISHIMA]

Good call.

You wanna sit down

and rest your poor legs

- while we wait?

- No.

I want you to quit making

such a fuss over me.

It's just.

I'm sorry.

Oh.

What for?

Everything?

Hm.

Nah.

I'm more impressed

you tweaked

your schedule around

this nonsense

than anything else.

But only somewhat impressed.

- Huh?

- [YOSHINO] That said,

if you make a repeat of this,

you are dead meat.

Wait.

That can't be all.

I don't get what you mean.

I just figured

you would be a lot more mad.

Eh, you weren't the only one

pulling scummy moves this week.

I really wasn't

expecting the mini-truck,

and I'm sure driving

that thing around so much

has been a challenge.

Huh?

No way. When did you realize

I was following you?

[KIRISHIMA]

Well, I didn't realize

it was you

in the driver's seat.

But a mini-truck

parked in front of a hotel

so early in the morning

with its engine running

struck me as odd.

Especially,

with the tinted windows.

Touche,

and for what it's worth,

I didn't want to do all that

but Tsubaki and Shoma both said

that I should keep

a closer eye on you.

I was parked there

for five whole hours!

And when you came out,

it was with a girl.

You never disappoint,

do you, Romeo?

[Kirishima laughs]

What did take me

by surprise, though,

was running into

that same girl on my tour.

I didn't know

what was going on,

but I could tell

it was nothing good

and she was connected,

so I went up to her.

Wow, very clever!

It wasn't that clever,

you're just

too damn predictable.

What tipped you off about Ozu?

I figured something was up

the second I knew

you were looking into those

three apartment buildings

over in Kobe.

To get a little more intel,

Shoma and I reached out

to some property owners

and real estate folks we knew.

One of the buildings

had received complaints

about loud cars

and people making a ruckus

late at night.

I knew there'd be

shady stuff going down

since it involved you,

and then my contact told me

the son of

an Embrace Productions bigwig

was renting a room there.

I searched his name and saw

he went to the same school

as Nao Shiota

and that they followed

each other online.

That's when I knew

I was onto something.

It took a ridiculous

amount of time

and was so exhausting.

Like, zero out of ten stars.

Yeah.

Never would've guessed

you were tracking me

in Kobe yesterday,

so well done.

I was definitely on cloud nine

after getting

my first gift from you.

[gasps]

You knew that, too?

[KIRISHIMA]

I suspected.

You confirmed my suspicions

when you called me

just because you knew

exactly where I was.

They catch cheaters

with these trackers.

It cost almost 30,000 yen

to rent it, too.

I bought the smallest one

and sewed it inside.

You should've tossed it

as soon as you got your hunch!

How come?

Gee, I wonder!

But that's another

confirmation.

You haven't decided

if he's obsessed

or if it's real

and he's fallen for you, right?

I think you should

figure that one out.

I agreed 'cause if this was

more toxic than love,

I needed to

get the heck outta Tokyo

and move back home.

Problem was asking you outright

wasn't gonna work,

so I devised a little test.

If you liked me the way

a boyfriend likes a girlfriend,

you would treasure

a handmade charm I gave you

and hold onto it

for safekeeping.

Honestly, though, I thought

you'd chuck it, pronto.

But, no.

Turns out these feelings

that you have are genuine.

Hm.

I've been saying that

all along.

Yeah, but I wanted the proof.

If I'd known the danger

this thing would put you in

it might've gone

in the nearest trashcan.

But you made it

specially for me,

tracker and all.

Then again, yeah.

I was slack.

Guess that's why

it's called a charm.

I imagine

this is what it feels like

to fall for a honey trap.

You're shockingly calm.

[KIRISHIMA]

Am I?

I spied on you the whole time.

I planted a tracker

and followed you.

Aren't you mad?

[KIRISHIMA]

Not at all.

Okay, then.

What's going on

in your mind right now?

[KIRISHIMA]

Huh?

When I get curious,

I'm gonna start asking that.

Hmm.

You won't get angry?

Um, that's gonna depend

on what you say.

Huh?

I'm thinking of how small

and cute your head is.

My head?

Like I could crush it

with a single hand.

Hm.

So you want a piece of me?

Well, not in that way.

But I have

these fleeting moments

that I can't explain

now and then.

Obviously,

I cherish and adore you.

And every so often,

I wanna ruin you, too.

[gasps]

I would prefer the option

where you cherish and adore me

if those are

the only two that I get.

I also prefer that option,

so it does make sense.

[chuckles softly]

Ah, this is great!

What?

Up until you gave me

that charm,

it seemed like you had

no interest in me at all

and I wasn't sure what to do.

Hm.

So I was nothing

short of ecstatic

when I got your call

and confirmed

that you were tracking me!

Even if it was just

to find my location,

it meant that

you actually cared!

And since the odds

of us getting together

would go way down

if you were indifferent,

I will gladly take your hate!

You've got ba*ls of steel.

[Kirishima chuckles softly]

Yeah, but enough about that,

how do I become your boyfriend?

- What?

- [KIRISHIMA] The bet.

We wrapped things up

before midnight,

and I'm still alive.

Oh!

I think I should win by default

if you don't have a plan.

So do you have a plan?

[YOSHINO] Yeah!

And the plan is

rock, paper scissors.

You game?

Uh

Well, it can't be physical

on account

of our different builds!

And you'd cream me

in a battle of wits.

So, it's gonna be luck-based!

[KIRISHIMA]

With rock, paper, scissors.

Hmm.

Problem?

Uh-huh. Nope.

Love it.

Let's play!

[laughs]

[YOSHINO]

Got 'em!

Rock, paper!

It's a weird talent,

but I'm actually

good at this game!

The chance

of an opponent throwing

a rock to start is high,

which means paper usually

has the best odds

of winning the first round!

But this is Kirishima,

the master of mind games!

He probably

knows that rule, too,

so the safest thing

to throw is

- [growls]

- [chuckles]

[YOSHINO]

Scissors!

[gasps]

[KIRISHIMA]

I'm outta the stalker zone

and into the boyfriend land!

Why did you throw rock,

you jerk?

Is it 'cause you have

rocks for brains

and it just felt natural?

Don't really know, but I won!

[YOSHINO]

Hang on!

We're doin' best

of three rounds to end this!

You gotta win two more!

- [KIRISHIMA] Aw.

- [YOSHINO] All right,

here we go!

Rock, paper, scissors!

Why the hell

would you throw rock

two times in a row?

[KIRISHIMA]

Yay!

Now I really am your boyfriend!

[AKISHIBA]

I see.

They're in Osaka.

Thank you.

CALL ENDED

[chuckles]
