[Garbage] Welcome back.
That genuinely didn't go badly.

[sighs] What a great mission.

Planet Botanica might not
have had breathable air,

-but it sure had--
-Swanky rich aliens!

-[groovy electronic music playing]
-With way too much trust in strangers.

And all-night dance contest!

Who knew Chonies was so light on his feet?

A little salsa with a rumba twist.

-[all chuckle]
-What do we think, team?

-Time for a little celebration?
-Way ahead of you, Captain.

Let's celebrate our successful mission

-by reviewing it in detail.
-[groans]

Oh, cool. Binders.

We completed the mission
with 85% efficiency,

9% less madcap hijinks and,
according to my pie chart,

22% fewer silly questions.

Ooh, what flavor pie?

[sighs] Make that 20%.

I was thinking more... milkshakes.

[all] Milkshakes!

Milkshakes! Milkshakes!
Milkshakes! Milkshakes!

Milkshakes! Give me that milkshake!

Oh. Sure, we can do this later.

I should've known, you'd all want
milkshakes first. Sorry.

-You don't need to be sorry.
-I'll catch up.

-I have work to do.
-No, you don't.

You're one of us now,
you gotta celebrate with the team.

I will, once I've uploaded these.

What? Where?

I'll see you at the diner.

Anyone else kinda curious?

Yeah. What's a rumba twist?

[all laughing, cheering]

-Chonies! Chonies!
-Do the rumba!

You have to stay light on your feet,
or you can really hurt your ankles.

[whooping]

-It's a shame Pepper's missing this.
-Yeah.

Who else would remind us that
our milkshakes would be 8% more enjoyable

-if we added cherries?
-8%? Seriously?

[sighs] I love math.

Stella's right. She's one of us now.

I hate seeing her milkshake
getting warm. Hey!

What? I hated seeing that, too.

Look, there she is!

Huh. Where's she going?

She said something about an uploa...
[gasps] Wait.

Is she spying on us?

-I knew it!
-Did you?

-No.
-This all makes total sense.

-I bet that's why she joined the crew.
-Yeah!

-I bet Happy sent her.
-What, no!

You think the Council doesn't trust us?

Oh, come on, Captain.

There's no reason
they wouldn't trust us...

Nope. Wait. [chuckles]
There are a lots of reasons. Never mind!

No, we've been doing well lately.
You're being paranoid.

Oh, yeah?

Any second now, she's gonna
look over her shoulder

and give a mysterious glance.

-[all gasp]
-[Nomi] Duck!

See?

There's no room on the Pluto
for devious, untrustworthy sneaks.

-Because I've got that covered.
-You know what? I don't buy it.

Pepper's awesome. I trust her 1,000%.

You trust everyone 1,000%.

It regularly causes problems.

Nope. Pepper's proven herself.

We absolutely do not need to follow her
and find out where she's going.

She's heading north. Stay sharp.

[sniffing]

Evasive maneuvers!

[sniffs]

Fake lily pads are a bad disguise, Ed.

Oh, Ed, I don't know why you always
carry those around with you.

-We'll never--
-Wait, where's Loaf?

[whimpers] Betrayed by my own buoyancy.

[suspicious music playing]

-Hey, you said next class was Thursday.
-[Nomi] Garbage!

Is this making anyone else
really need to pee?

Well, that's what you get
for drinking two milkshakes.

-That's a holo-training room.
-Ah, phew.

We can simulate a bathroom in there.

[all gasping]

[all] It's us!

Okay, what are we all
gasping about? [gasps]

That is one scruffy-looking dog!

Hey, buddy, would a brush
once in a while k*ll ya?

-Garbage, it's you.
-What?

No, look at this guy's ears.

Mine aren't nearly
as pointy and dirty, and...

[gasps] Oh, my gosh! It's me!

Hello, everyone.
You're two minutes later than predicted.

I'll update the algorithm accordingly.

-What is this?
-I built each of you as a simulation,

programmed to match
your exact personalities.

Okay, what an unusual hobby.

It's pronounced "creepy."

It's what I require
as your Tactical Officer.

The six of you are famously unpredictable.

So life-like.

Ow! Nomi, quit it. I'm real.

That's exactly what you would say!

Well, unpredictable in some ways.

But I don't like things
being unpredictable.

The early versions weren't super accurate.

[laughs maniacally]

[groans]

-Hey...
-[laughing]

Oh, man, Ed, that is so you!

She really nailed you, buddy.

[mimicking] Ed! [laughs]

Then there was the Kevin glitch.

-Looking good, Kevin.
-Oh, Kevin. Hi.

Kevin, how the heck are ya?

But now, thanks to my upgrades,
they run perfectly.

I can run any scenario

to figure out your responses
before you make them.

Come on, you can't
figure out every response.

Computer, run Stella Discovers
the Simulation Simulation.

Wait. We're made up of
more than our predictable...

[both] Element. We're wild.

And beautiful. And they...

Can't just be predicted by a machine!
Argh! Coconuts!

Raccoon! I mean, kumquat!

-Ugh! I hate this thing!
-Sure, it can predict words and stuff,

but on a mission,
even I don't know what I'm gonna do.

And I don't know what I'm gonna do

when he does what he doesn't know
what he's gonna do.

Pepper, however smart
you made these simulations,

they're not the same as
knowing and trusting your crew.

Captain, I don't need to trust you.

With my technology,
there's no behavior I can't predict.

Okay, there's no way that's true.

[automated male voice] Pluto crew
to the Council Chambers.

Aha! You didn't know
that was gonna happen!

Of course not. It's a simulator,
not a time machine.

-Yet.
-What?

Nothing.

Pluto crew, based on your recent run
of successful missions,

we want you to take the lead
on a very promising planet.

It's high risk, but all five of us agreed

you're the team for the job.

-It's an honor to be--
-Wait, wait, wait.

Captain Happy agrees
we're good at our jobs?

The Pluto team does seem to be displaying

higher levels of professionalism
these days.

-But...
-I have no but.

[laughs] He said he has no butt--

Polypia seems perfect
for human settlement.

Lush fauna, breathable atmosphere,

reliable tides for boogie boarding

and other boogie-based activities.

[all] Wow.

That is a stunning underwater-like planet.

But, it is also inhabited by creatures

-called Terrators.
-Our scans indicate

they've been dormant for decades.

Completely harmless.

-Phew.
-Unless they wake up.

[hesitantly] Phew?

So, we need to see
if they can be removed safely

without disturbing them.

And since you're such experts
at disturbing behavior...

Yeah? How about I disturb your face?

-[yelps, mumbles]
-[groans]

We need you to do a test-run.

Land on Polypia and attempt
to excavate a Terrator

without waking it up. If you can,

then this planet could be our new home!

And if not?

If not,

you return to the Embark, no harm done.

-Probably.
-Probably?

This is as much information
as our scans can give us.

Have fun down there.

[beeping]

Computer, load
all planetary scans of Polypia.

Let's make sure we avoid any mishaps.

Now, remember, we don't know what exactly

might wake the Terrators,
so just be careful.

-Whoa!
-[all gasp]

[groans]

[chomping, hissing]

[all sigh in relief]

Stella's right. Be careful.

This place could be perfect!

-Wow! Coral loot! [gasps]
-[skittering]

=[muffled screaming]
-Hold on!

Great idea, Captain. Let's see
if laser blasts wake them up.

-[both] Nomi, no!
-[powers up]

[roaring]

-[all scream]
-[sizzles]

Okay. So,

that's a no on letting
Nomi bring a laser cannon.

Let's try something else.

-So, just be careful.
-Whoa!

Coral loot! [screaming]

At last, I finally have a chance
to test my new sonic rock-splitter.

-[booms]
-[rumbling]

[roaring]

-[all screaming]
-[sizzling]

Okay. How about...

-Be careful.
-[whirring]

-[muffled screaming]
-[whirring continues]

This is fun. [sneezes]

[roaring]

[all screaming]

Okay, what if instead...

I made friends with this one. Snakey! Dig!

[all screaming]

[beeps]

No, no, no, no!
There has to be some variable

-that won't result in all of them...
-Hey, everyone.

Did somebody say "bandanas"?

[all screaming]

-[all continue screaming]
-[machine whirring]

[all continue screaming]

Captain, I ran the scenario
hundreds of times.

If we go on this mission,
everyone on the crew is gonna die.

-We can't go.
-Do you guys mind?

-These are heavy!
-Yeah!

-Give Chonies a break.
-Pepper, we've been over this.

You simulations can't know
for certain what's gonna happen.

-You'll wake the Terrators!
-Oh, we'll be fine.

We face life-threatening sitches
every week.

If we died all the times
we were definitely gonna die,

-we'd be dead.
-Embark's scanning data

isn't as accurate as going down there
and testing it for ourselves.

If there's even a tiny chance
we can remove a Terrator

and make this planet livable,
we have to try.

-But there isn't.
-Your simulations are guessing.

They're not us. We'll be
extra careful, I promise.

[sighs] Maybe...

Maybe the computer can't predict
every single possible--

Hey, everyone.
Did somebody say "bandanas"?

[gasps]

-Everyone ready?
-Sure am.

-Absolutely.
-Ooh!

This is so my new look.

-[gasps]
-Hey!

-Hey!
-Hey!

Now, remember, we don't know
what exactly might wake the Terrators,

-so just be careful.
-Whoa! [groans]

[laughs] Oh, so cute.

This place could be perfect.

[groans] Excuse me.
Oh, sorry. Excuse me. Sorry.

Well, everything seems
pretty relaxed so far, Pepper.

-Guess you were wrong about--
-Ed's about to get attacked.

-[Ed screaming]
-That doesn't prove anything.

[Stella] There it is.

-[gasps, growls]
-Pepper,

I need you to focus on what is happening,
not what might happen.

But I know what's going to happen.

No, you don't. The Council trusts
we can deal with this, and so do I.

No!

Well, Pepper, you must be
feeling pretty silly right now.

-[all gasp]
-[rumbling]

[roaring]

[all screaming]

[roars]

[gasps] Take cover! Fire!

[roars]

[all scream]

-[gasps]
-[continues roaring]

If they're definitely going to die,

the right tactical move is to...

-[groans]
-No!

-My new look! My new look!
-[growls]

Garbage! [grunts]

-[grunting]
-[roaring]

Wow! What were the chances
of landing a move like that?

For the first time in my life,
I have no idea.

[grunts, strains]

-[Terrator continues roaring]
-[screaming]

Okay.

Screw tactics. [battle cry]

[continues roaring]

[grunts]

[roars]

[grunting]

-[roaring]
-[grunting]

[groans]

[shrieking]

[all panting]

So, when do we move in?

[slurping]

[sighs] I admit it.

This is more enjoyable
than handing out binders.

Pepper, you were awesome out there!

You were all like...
[mimics laser g*nf*re]

And the Terrator was all like...
[mimics roaring]

[laughs] I didn't know you had it in you.

I never put myself in the simulations.

I thought my own behavior
was easy to predict.

But when I saw you all
in danger, I just...

-acted without thinking.
-[sighs] Acting without thinking,

the Pluto crew motto.

Hmm. I guess I really am one of you now.

You sure you don't need to run
a little simulation to check that?

[chuckles] No. No more
simulations from now on,

only real-life situations.

I couldn't agree more, Kevin.

Kevin? I was gonna say the same thing.

Thanks, Kevins. I'm gonna miss you.

Hey, Pepper. Wanna come grab a milkshake?

We ran the numbers,
and we predict you'll have fun.

No need to predict. I trust you.

I'll be right there.

-Computer,
-[beeping]

run a scenario where the Council realize
they made a huge mistake demoting me,

-and I get promoted back to Captain.
-[male automated voice] Error.

Scenario too unlikely.

-Do it anyway!
- No.

Aw, poop.
