02x06 - Episode 6

Post by bunniefuu »

Hello! I'm just in a warehouse!

Aw!

I'm back with the dream team...

Here we go.

..to help families let go
of the thousands of items

cluttering our lives and homes.

Oh, wow.

We'll strip each house
to its bare bones...

Let's do this, team. Come on!

..before laying every single item
out perfectly in a giant warehouse.

Oh! Oh, wow.

Oh, dear.

HE LAUGHS

Could you let
go of half your stuff...

Don't even think about it!

to double the space you live in?

This is good.

Then we'll clean... Scrape.

Coming straight off.

..upcycle... Brand-new, repurposed
wardrobe.

I think it's going to look
like a posh hotel.

Do you know what I mean?
..and organise...

Nothing in this house is going to
go to waste.

..in order to save the pennies...

The biggest money box in history.

..and restore joy into lives...

Wow. Yay!

Your living room. It looks like a
proper grown-up house!

It does, doesn't it? Oh, my God!

How did you do this?!

..all in just one week.

If I see you pull down the back
of the sticker one more time...!

SHE LAUGHS

We did it!

OK, here we go. Oh, jeez!

This time, we're off
to the picturesque Cambridgeshire

countryside.

Hello, Huntingdon.

I've never been to Huntingdon
before.

I can barely say Huntingdon.

I know. It's a bit of a mouthful,
isn't it, Huntingdon?

Hun-ting-don!

Rob, when was the last time you gave
this van a once-over?

I know you'll sort me out. Look
at that! Yeah, that's how it is.

I think that's it, you know?

Oh, look at this. Wow.

Oh!

LAUGHTER

Hello, love. How you doing good?
Yay!

I love it! How you doing!

Good to see you.

So, Ron and Toyah live here
with their three children

and, apparently, it is carnage
in there.

Oh! Oh! It's always good to know.

That's why we're here. That's why
we're here.
That's why they invite us round.

And they moved from America,
and the house was much bigger

than this one. Oh, wow.

But they didn't let go of any
of their stuff when they were moving

over... Oh! What?! ..so they brought
everything with them.

Wow. Shall we you see what we're
dealing with? Let's go. Let's go.

The Clark family are out for the day
so that we can have a snoop around.

The home has three bedrooms,

a large kitchen, and a living room

off the hallway.

Oh, my goodness. Here we go.

OK. Oh. And there's a lot of shoes.

But then there is five of them.
And they're on a rack.

I mean, these are made for me.

I think they're my size. Come on. We
can't steal people's shoes,

that's not what we do.
Oh, it's clear.

Yeah. You can sit on the sofas.
Hallelujah!

Oh, come on. That's a bit too empty,
though.

They've been here for four years
and there's no pictures on the wall.

They've got no throw cushions.
What's going on, Stace?

I know. There's no personality
here yet, is there?

You wouldn't know who lives here.
Oh. What's that?

Oh! Oh, is that an...?
Exercise bike.

This is retro. My big, fat feet
will fit in there.

Come on, Stacey.

Maybe I should get one of these,
just to lose a bit round the feet.

LAUGHTER

Why are you going backwards?!
I don't know, all right?

Does it look like I go on one
of these often?

No.

Kitchen. OK.

Oh, my goodness. All right.

It's almost like they forgot
the units.

LAUGHTER

This is strange, to have,
like, all this wall space. Yeah.

I don't think I've ever seen
a kitchen with one cupboard up top.

I thought the boiler was
going to be hidden in there.

I feel like it's not living
out its best life.

Oh, hold on. There's one here. Oh.

Oh, my gosh. American snacks!
All the American cereals.

This is like a kids' candy dream,
isn't it?

Oh, these are nice.

Don't be deceived by the empty
washing basket.

Oh, my goodness. Ta-da!

Oh, come on.

The fact that you're having to put
it on the work surface.

There's no practical drying space at
all, is there, in here?

Oh, wow! Ooh!

Quite a bit more space.
It's like another hallway. Yeah.

It's weird that you'd have
the washing...behind this door.

And not out here.

When there's a perfectly good amount
of space. It's just more shoes.

If there were less shoes
and less coats, and only

what they needed, this whole
space would be...

You'd use it for your washing,
wouldn't you? Yeah.

I can't wait to sort this out. Yeah.

Get myself out of this...

LAUGHTER

Oh! My knees aren't what they used
to be.

Upstairs, the family's laundry
problem continues.

The downstairs has given us false
pretences for the upstairs.

I can't even see the banister
because of all the clothes.

Laundry is a never-ending task.

Every single day, your laundry
pile gets bigger and bigger,

unless you're on top of it
all the time.

So, if you cut back on the amount
of clothes that you have,

you'll consequently
have less laundry to do.

Rob and I explore daughters
Ari and Alissah's room.

HE HUMS THE MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE THEME

THEY LAUGH

I regret this. Do-do-do!

ROB LAUGHS

That's not practical, is it?!

These two beds... It doesn't make
sense, doesn't it?

It would be a lot better
if they were this side.

I think you may be able to get
a really small bedside table

in-between the two, but then it
would really open up the rest

of this room. Because this
whole floor space is wasted.

Look! They've got proper
special edition ones.

They're amazing, though,
aren't they?

That is a cool collection.
With such good care of them.

We've got to stop playing.
Let's keep going.

Here...

My goodness, this room. Oh!

HE LAUGHS

More washing!

Underneath the piles of clothes is
Mum and Dad's bedroom.

Oh, Dilly, is this a joke?

It's just... Who's washing is it,
though? Oh, stop it!

Where's the rail?

Oh, you can't even open the door.

Oh, there's a lot of space in here.

Is that a walk-in wardrobe?
Look. Oh, my goodness.

Look how deep it goes.

Wow.

It's like, "Tonight, Matthew, I
am..." Woohoo!

Very fetching. Shakira, Shakira!

THEY LAUGH

Aha!

And in son Isaiah's room,
the mounds of clothes and shoes

are just as big.

Maybe this is where all the trainers
are coming from.

There is just shoes everywhere!

Look. Oh!

Oh, these are my favourites.

THEY LAUGH

I love them. It would be!

What's on that side?

The smallest wardrobe...
In the world.

Right, let's get out of here and
make a plan.

We have got one week to strip
the house, sort through all

the belongings, and put new systems
in place so that the Clark family

can get organised.

THEY SIGH

Fresh air.

The entire house lacks identity.

It's almost like they've just moved,
but we know they moved in

a good four years ago.

They've just configured the rooms
wrong and not used the space

to the full potential,
and they need better storage.

Hi!

CHEERING

How you doing?

Hello! Yes. Nice to meet you.
Hiya. How are we? Oh, bless you.

We're happy to see you guys
and we're happy to have you.

How do you feel about the whole
process? Are you excited? Nervous?

I'm really excited.

It's going to make my life easier -
compared to everyone else -

because it's me that's going to be,
you know, leading the organisation

after it's all done.

When I first saw Ron, I think
he'd only been here, like, three

months, stationed here.

And I was with my friend,
and I saw him and I said,

"I'm going to marry that guy."

And she just walked by me,
and she looked back at me,

and I was like, "Man, this girl has
some attitude for some British
girl."

And then later that night,
he asked me for my number

and then the rest is history.

I...

SHE LAUGHS

So annoying!

Ron's military career
has meant that the family

have continuously moved around.

Yeah, I lived all over the world.

I haven't stayed in one
location very long.

It is so important for me, after
moving around, to stay here forever.

My kids can now set foundations.
They can have lifelong friends.

They can start their lives here.
They'll always have a home.

We love England.

But finally settling in there
forever home

has brought a new set of problems.

This home is half the size
of our home in the States.

With a larger home,
you have less clutter.

But then, when it all came over
here,

we couldn't fit the stuff
in the house.

The move back to England also meant
a new full-time job for Toyah,

and, with both parents now
working long hours,

the clutter has spiralled.

Everyone is so used to it being me.

When I'm not here,
it's not getting done.

Then I will be like,
"Yo, where's my shirt?!"

And I'll be like, "It's in the
pile!"

Ron will do chores when I nag
at him, he'll do it.

I'm going to start putting
shirts over here, but...

That's not where the shirts go,

but... I mean, that's what...
..it's fine for now.

But it's the same as with the kids.

There's all these shoes
I forgot you even had any more.

Is it a busy house? Yeah, it is.
Like, we all got stuff going on.

I like stuff organised,
but I just don't have the time,

so can't really pick
up after ourselves.

I always just dump things
and I just leave it.

"I don't feel like doing it now.
Can I do it later?"

So your hair's... It's yours. No, it
isn't. My hair's not that dark.

I think my bedroom's messy,
especially on my side.

I definitely need this experience
so that I want to be at home -

how we deserve it to be.
They're still my babies,

I want to do everything for them,
so, yeah...

I just always want to be that best
mum that does everything.

So everyone's on board? Yeah.

Are you ready for a long,
old day of packing?

And you're ready to let go
of some trainers?

Yeah.

LAUGHTER

There's a lot of trainers!

Sounds exciting. Yeah.

I mean,
there's no time like the present.

LAUGHTER

Let's do it. Let's get on it, guys.
Let's get on it.

The team has just eight hours
to help the Clark family pack

up their entire house.

All right, let's get boxing.
All right, let's do this thing.

That's going to take me hours
to unravel, but let's just do

that at the warehouse.

Do you think Toyah puts
too much pressure on herself?

Yeah, I think she does.

I think the most difficult thing
for her is no-one contributes

to the laundry.

Honestly, I accept all the blame
because I just don't know

where she wants me to start at.

That's a good excuse.
And the problem...

It's always the answer.
Yeah, Dad can't be right.

Well, no. Squish it down first.

Oh, I'll do it!

ALISSAH LAUGHS

There you go.

I'm on shoe collection duty.

Looks better already, doesn't it?

Is this a mermaid's tail?
Yes. Lovely.

I think there's probably
about three more.

So, who does stuff around the house,
like the laundry and all of that?

Me. Is it just you? Yeah.
Now the kids are older,

they have more personalities,
where I want to be with them more.

I want to have dinner with him,
sit down with them, ask them

about their day. I really don't feel
like folding all the clean laundry.

It's just trying to balance
everything.

And we let these things go
so that we can have time

for each other because, you know,
my family is everything to me.

They will be leaving home soon,
Ari won't be long to follow.

And I can't just wallow
in just being home,

and then they all leave me.
They're my babies,

but they're not babies any more.

So I just feel like I just
need to get everything sorted

in this house.

What does the folks, especially
your mum, say about your room?

She loves it. No, I'm joking.
She hates it. She hates it

and she'll be like, "Clean
your room," and I clean it.

And she'll notice one thing
on the floor, and she'll be like,

"You haven't even cleaned it." And
it's just like a constant battle.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not
going to sit here and pretend

it's a walk in the park for me
to get my kids to do stuff.

This is the noise that I hear
on a regular basis.

Oh!!! Urgh!!

Not even words!

And it's annoying, because I do
think I could just get up myself

and do it quicker and get it done.

But the reality of that is
then they will never learn.

So we nipped that in the bud
and I just deal

with the groans now.

Oh, there's trainers under the bed.

There's some behind me. You can't be
wearing all of these trainers.

It was my hustle. Yeah, just like
buying and selling shoes.

Just buying them used... Yeah.
..and then cleaning them up.

And then, once they were clean, sell
them for like extra 50, 60,

70 quid. What I want to know is how
on earth do you manage your business

in so much clutter?

Even like my desk, I've got to move
everything off to take a picture of,

like, the shoes I'm selling.
The way they look,

the presentation is a big
part of it. Yeah.

You want your shoes to look
good in a nice background...to sell.

Mm-hm. All right. Let's get this
stuff out of here.

Oh!

SHE LAUGHS

Pack me in a box, then I
don't have to do no more packing.

Make sure that box don't come back.

Oh, thanks. So, I have to ask...

THEY LAUGH

I like your style.

How does this usually work?

Do you, like, jump over, or...?

Pretty much Ari has to.

Yeah, because she gets mad
if I step over her bed.

What are you hoping for out of
this whole process?

Way more, like, space.

Me and Alissah, still in the same
room, but have a little bit

more of separation so we can
actually do things.

I like to have, like, a free space
where I can do maths homework thing

and not get, like, annoyed
because there's no space for me

to put my book.
We all have a box each.

Let's see who can fill it
the quickest. Go!

THEY LAUGH

Cheater!

The ukulele! That challenge...

Sorry!

While the kids make great headway,
the rest of the house

still needs packing.
So, with just two hours to go,

we divide and conquer.

It's like a never-ending treasure
trove, because I open one door

and find even more stuff
that I forgot

I even had. It's like I'm moving
home.

Give me a hug, baby.

There's so many trainers.
Go on, girls, you can do it.

Let's get the sheets off the beds!
Oh, sh**t.

Hurry up! Hurry up! All of it.

Quick, quick. We've got another box.

They're such a lovely family,
but, at the end of the day, everyone

just definitely needs to chip
in a bit more, I think,

and do their bit.

And I get that. As a teenager,
I felt exactly the same.

You know, I was just like, "I do
want to get involved and help,

"but, actually, I'd rather lay
on my bed." If we can do the job

in the warehouse that we want to do,

hopefully this whole process gives
them a bit of a boost to want to get

involved, to want to help,
to want to maintain

what we can create.

LAUGHTER

We've displayed every one
of the Clark family's possessions

in a 10,000 square foot warehouse
and they're on their way to see

exactly what they own.

I don't think we have that much
stuff in the warehouse.

I think we do.

I think it's going to fill
up the whole building.

Yeah. Really? Yeah.

You made it! Hello!

Oh, yeah!

LAUGHTER

How are you feeling? Excited.
Super excited.

Oh, good! Yeah, yeah. That's the
best reaction yet.

Come on. All right.

Well, this is it now. There's no
going back. Yeah. All right.

OK? Yeah. Here we go.

No way! Look at all this...!

LAUGHTER

No way! Crazy!

Among the Clark's belongings,
we counted...

..120 stuffed toys...

I can see your monkey
that we haven't seen since you were,

like, two years old.

..521 odd socks...

You wouldn't think that we had this
much stuff. That is crazy.

..over 40 baby grows...

..and 28 games controllers.

How are you feeling,
now you've walked in and seen

what the next two days is going to
be like? I'm ready.

I'm ready for it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I just want to keep my shoes.

THEY LAUGH

Usually, whenever we do this
process, the minimum that we need to

let go of is 50% of the entire home.

We need to really let go
of a lot of stuff

because it wasn't working before.

Yeah. No, 100%. Yeah, I'm ready.

I'm ready.

Positions have been divided
into clear zones, so the family

can see how many repeat
items they have.

Now they must decide what to keep
and what to donate, sell or recycle.

Let's do this.

We start with an easy one
to get off the blocks -

leisure and gaming.

Alissah, do you want this? No.

How many times do we actually use
these?

I don't think it even blows
up all the way.

I think they popped it.
Get rid, get rid, get rid.

Get rid of all of them.

How many Xbox controllers
does one person need?

So the thing about that is,
right...?

Come on. How many of us play all at
once? Four.

OK, so choose the best
four and the rest are going.

This is really good, guys.
We don't need that.

One section done! That's crazy.
Good.

Do you feel good? Let's keep
going. Yes, that's the attitude!

Let's keep the momentum going!

At the house, now free of clothes
piles,

Dilly and Rob are making plans
to maximise wardrobe storage.

I want to make sure that we can
utilise that space up there.

So, whatever you're doing,
it has to go floor to ceiling.

OK. But, you know, little Toyah,
like me.

Yeah. I want her to be able to get
to the top of the wardrobe,

but how does she do that?

So I'm thinking, to have a section
of that shelving unit that pulls out

turning the actual shelves
themselves into a stepping stool.

No! Yes.

Good. Oh. Come on.

Next!

You weirdo. No, don't spray it on
me.

Don't! Look...

ALISSAH LAUGHS

After a promising start,

I am feeling optimistic,
and, with three grown-up kids,

I'm hoping that soft toys
will go just as smoothly.

Grab your favourites,

put them to one side, and then
we will just, "Whoosh!"

Start with the ones I want to get
rid of... Yeah.

..and then we'll go from there.
OK, then, darling.

Alissah, did you want this?
Because you won that at school.

No. OK. Oh, it's Abby Cadabby!

See, I can't do this.
I remember Abby Cadabby!

That was yours when you was a baby.
That used to go in your baby crib.

What about this, Ari? No, I'm good.

What?! You're cuddling it.
You're selling it to them!

You're selling the teddy!
That's bait.

The hardest problem I had during
that section was Toyah.

She did not want to let go.
So she'd pick one

up and be like,
"Girls, do you want this one?"

You don't want to keep that?
You lay on that. Mum!

It's like a pillow.

THEY LAUGH

I'm more of the sentimental one.

I want to remember when she was
this small, or Isaiah did this.

Their stuff has become somewhat
of a security blanket for me.

When I started to see things
like that, I remember

when they were so little and they
really wanted these teddies.

It is sad, I do get it. And I
think it's because they're growing

up as well now.
It's that whole realisation

that they're not babies
any more. Yeah.

I think what it is, because the time
is going by so quick

that now they are older,
like Isaiah, it's just a blink

of an eye and he's, like, nearly a
grown man.

And I feel like that's my baby.

And I think it's more because I know
he's going off to uni next year.

Is he? Yeah.

Oh, I know. I know.

Aw.

INDISTINCT

Yeah.

It's just like, I just want
to be present, you know? Yeah.

And I want them to have, like,
the best childhood, the best time

and, you know...? Yeah.

But you can't do all of that on
your own. I know.

I can so relate to Toyah when
she talks about how the kids

are growing up, and it's really
quite emotional because you do feel

like you just blink
and they're off to uni.

But Toyah really recognises
that she puts a lot

of pressure on herself.

You can't have a full-time job
AND raise a family, AND run a home,

AND just be everything to everyone
all of the time.

At the house, Iwan's got a new trick
that he's been very keen to test out

on the family loo.
It looks quite clean, doesn't it?

But looks can be deceiving.

So I've got this gadget,
which I am very excited to use.

It's a UV torch, and I'm meant to
wear some protective goggles

because this light can be
quite strong.

Right, then, let's pop the light
off

and we'll see what sort of
stains are hiding.

Torch on.

Look at all that!

Well, you can bet what that is,
can't you? Wow.

And, to the naked eye, you can't see
any of that. Right, light on.

So I'm just going to clean
it with some disinfectant spray.

Time for a test.

Hey! Look at the difference.

I might have to go round and do the
rest of the bathroom with this now.

Oh! Oh!

ALISSAH LAUGHS

At the warehouse, I want to free up
some space in the kitchen section,

so we start sorting
through the snacks.

These ones are from 31st
of December '21.

Yeah, they're not good.

Pumpkin spice, that's bad.
No, it's not.

It's good till 2023.
No, it tastes bad.

No, we're keeping it. Since when did
we buy a whole pack of ramen
noodles?

Because we never know if we're going
to have a zombie apocalypse.

Amazing.

Look at all this stuff, guys.

While the family carry on sifting
through their mound of snacks,

I want to chat to Ron about
the military memorabilia

he's accumulated during his time
in service.

I haven't seen this in years.

Really? Yeah.

They are special and they are
significant moments in your life.

How long were you serving for?
Oh, I did 15 years in the Air Force.

Isaiah is...18? Yes.

There's things you have to do to
sacrifice to provide for your
family,

so sometimes those things are -
you lose time with your kids.

I was constantly, like, going all
these places around the world -

Hawaii and Guam and Korea -
and I'm proud of it.

But my son was already, like,
nine years old,

I think I went to one soccer game.

I wasn't spending enough
time with my family.

Who is this?

Oh, my gosh.

This is my dad's letter.
It says 1997.

I always know my dad loved me.

We didn't always, like,
live together in the same house

for a straight, long period of time.

Sometimes he would work for four
years, my parents' marriage,

and then it would be a gap for two
years, and then he'd come back

for five more years.

It was a unique childhood.

My father was in the Marines.

Once you get a job in the military,
and you're moving out,

and you're seeing things, you still
have that lack of structure.

So it's my duty to raise my kids
a little bit better.

It did have a major role
in how I raised my children

and how I love my...love my wife
and treat her.

And he says, "I have been thinking
about you very hard and I love

"you more than you know.

"So much time has been lost between
us, but you have always been

"in my thoughts and heart.

"I realise that it's not enough
because every son needs a father,

"just as every father needs a son."

Yeah, this is something
I probably would keep.

It sounds like he must
have felt guilty about leaving.

I'm pretty sure he did.

I know for a fact that I've forgiven
my father a long time ago.

I truly feel like you shouldn't use
any dysfunction in your life

as an excuse on what you can
and cannot accomplish in life.

I think going over those letters
was really difficult and actually

bringing up things and emotions
that he didn't expect to see today.

Oh, what's up? Wait, hold on.

Just them five are just everything.

It's the centre of their universe,
it's all they live for

and I just love...I love to see it.

It's so, so heart-warming to see.

Toyah and Ron are driving home the
declutter.

So, with the family now working
really well as a team, we give

the warehouse one last push
before we're thrown out for the day.

Right, time is up. OK.

We have to chuck everything in now.
OK.

Oh, my God!

THEY LAUGH

Speakers from the '80s?
Go. Get rid of them.

They can go. Woo! They can go, yeah.

Ari, get those, like, vacuums.

Yeah. All of those bottom ones can
go.

Come on. Go, go, go.

These are the ones you're keeping?
OK, darling.

You beat me once, that's it.

Last one of the day!

Amazing. Yes! That's a lot of stuff.

That is a lot. So much.

You should be so, so pleased
with how today went.

This is incredible.

Think of all the empty spaces
that we've created in one day.

Who's exhausted? Me.

THEY LAUGH

Should we go and get some food,
and get out of here? Yeah.

I think Dilly is going
to be pleasantly surprised

when she gets here tomorrow.

I feel like she'll be like,
"Wow, this is good!"

We smashed it. It's a good day one!

It's the second day
in the warehouse

and it's Dilly's turn
to lead the sort out.

I actually cannot believe it!

I can see so much clear space.

Hello! Hi.

Good morning. Good morning.

How do you feel you did yesterday?
Really good.

Well, do you know what?
Even though you have done amazingly,

of course, we still have a lot to
go. Mm-hm.

Dilly cracks on with today's
first task

and it's a big one - trainers.

It turns out, Ron, these

33 pairs are yours!

That's not that much, is it?

LAUGHTER

Ron, you haven't got the space
for 33 pairs of trainers.

So let's be a little bit tough
and this is all of us.

This is a family game
that we're going to play.

OK. OK? Let's play it.

I'm going to give you five pairs
each and that's my maximum.

Ron, five pairs. OK.
And even that is a push.

Go!

Isaiah has a double challenge.

As well as choosing the ones
he wants to keep for himself,

he also needs to decide which ones
to sell on as part of his business.

I get it, you're an entrepreneur.
You buy, you sell trainers.

But what we have to remember
is what we've GOT space for,

so maybe we start with the ones
that we have to sell.

All right. OK? Sounds good.

These have got to go. I'm selling
them. So these are to sell?

Yeah. Right. Great. OK.

But it's actually dad Ron
who's really feeling

the trainer struggle.
Oh, my gosh.

You said eight, right?
Five! I said five!

We haven't got the space to keep
all these trainers!

That's true. That's true.

I do want to make an example
for my kids.

I mean, you love your shoes.
Yeah. But do you love space more?

I do. My family space.

Who would you like to go to bed
more with, your shoes or your wife?

I've got to think about that. Oi!

THEY LAUGH

OK, so...that's it, right there.

These? Yeah. You're keeping these?
I'm keeping these.

So all of this behind me is going?

Yeah. Let's get them all out.

No second choices now,
that's it. We're saying goodbye.

Probably like the hardest
thing I've done.

You've been good to me.

Dilly's system has paid off
and the family has let go of almost

80 pairs of trainers.

Now you have your little collection
of trainers, and these are going

to fit in your bedroom.
Space is always more valuable

than any possession. Yeah.
It's so important for our wellbeing.

So, big hugs! I'm proud of you,
yeah? I'm proud of you.

Well done. You've done so well.

Now it's Ari and Alissah's turn to
make some tough decisions

about their beloved doll collection.

So, girls, this should be nice
and easy, right?

Toys? No?

Do you feel like this is hard?

Especially, like, from when I was
a baby. I used to carry

it around everywhere, so it's, like,
kind of weird letting go of it.

Are you going to play with your My
Little Ponies again? BOTH: No.

When did you last play with toys?

Like, a year ago, two years ago.
OK.

And do you play with toys any more?

Not really. Rarely. Do you want
to just keep them all?

You know what I'm saying? Keep the
one that looks like you,
at the back.

Wait... You talking about this dude?

THEY LAUGH

Let me ask you a question. Would you
get rid of that one with the jacket
on?

Yeah, we're keeping the one
that looks like Dad. Yeah.

Right answer. Right answer.

Which one of these...? Keep that one
because it has, like, a funky arm.

THEY LAUGH

The collectable dolls
will have little sentimental

stories behind them.

My sister will know that they all
have a little story

as well, because she's...

She's a part of every single
one of those stories.

Girls, I'm actually very impressed
because remember how many toys

there were, and all we've got left
is that little selection.

This is the most valuable
things I think

we own because they're so
collectable in so many ways.

And, Alissah, you have a couple,
don't you? I have two.

Yeah, you have two
and the rest are mine.

So we're keeping the dolls and we're
going to display them

beautifully. Mm-hm. Somewhere that
makes you happy. Yeah.

OK. Next section.

At the house, Rob's
received instructions to make

the display case for the precious
ones that they decided to keep.

I need to make sure that these boxes
can actually fit in my display case.

Using good old trusty cardboard,

I'm going to cut out each square
to the size of the boxes

and then each one of my boxes
are the right size.

I'm sure they've sent me
something wrong here.

That's the height and width
of a box.

That's a blooming small doll.

Maybe a baby Barbie?

Ooh!

Wow.

Iwan's tackling the kitchen and has
heard Ron likes to grill meat

in the oven.

Often, the glass panel here will
clip off.

There we go.

This glass just lifts up...

..and out.

So I'm going to get my scraper on
this.

So I'm going to use some
all-purpose cleaning paste,

which is nice and abrasive.

And I find that, if you hold
this at an angle to the glass,

it won't scratch the glass then, but
it will scrape off all our burns,

grease and grime.

Last little scrape.

Give that a wipe.

Oh, my goodness.

Look at that. How about that?

I can see straight through it now.
Do I look like I'm on television?

They're never going to burn
their turkey at Thanksgiving now.

There we go.

Going to use the scraper
for the bottom of the oven as well.

Oh, look at that.

How satisfying.

So you can pick up oven
liners like this at the shops,

and then we just pop it inside,

and that's going to make cleaning
next time a whole lot easier.

At the warehouse, Dilly
still has a mountain of clothes

to tackle, and she starts
with the teeny-tiny ones.

OK, do we need 40 baby grows?

No! Or maybe we just keep one?

It just reminds me
of how small they were. OK.

What we have to also remember
is that you've only

been in the country four years,
so you chose to bring

all of this stuff with you, when,
actually, you could have probably

decluttered before you left.

I think the way that we had to pack
up and move within a certain amount

of time, I wasn't ready to let go

because we were having such
a big move.

It was kind of like, I was just
trying to... Hold on to the things?

Yeah. So, do you feel like your
emotions are always in things

because you move a lot?
Yes, 100%.

Even though our home might not
be permanent, our stuff was.

But, like, since we've been back,
I forgot that these were here

because now we're stable.

So this process came at a good time
for you.

Perfect timing. Now it's just time
to let things go.

So, with that in mind, let's keep
the most sentimental things.

Yes. So many of us want to keep
hold of physical memories,

and that's absolutely fine,

but revisiting is the key.

Always go through, because the way
we feel today isn't necessarily

the way we felt about something
six months ago.

Actually, do you know what?
It feels good.

It just feels like a release,
like I'm just letting it go.

Well done.

OK, my friends,
this is where I come alive.

With a renewed sense of purpose,

Ron and Toyah move on to the rails
of their clothes in a bid

to get their bedroom back.

So the only things that
you have in your main wardrobe

are the things that you love,
the things that you need,

and the things that fit.

Sergeant Clark, are you ready?

I'm ready...ma'am.

Let's do this. All right. Let's
do it. Work through.

All right. Yes, yes, no. No, no, no.

No, no. Jeans?! Yeah.

Look at this lovely collection
of jeans.

How many black jeans?!

I think I own, like, two
pairs of jeans.

We're keeping what we've got
space for. Yes.

If they do not reduce the amount of
clothes they've got, this time next

week, Toyah will be doing
the laundry,

she'll be back to square one.
Bye, socks.

Ten rails of clothes later

and the donate pile
is significantly larger.

I beat you.

LAUGHTER

Oh, that feels so good.

It feels like this is all my
bedroom floor.

But it's going to make my life
so much easier,

so I feel so relieved.

And that is what you have
to remember.

This is less washing...
Yes. ..less sorting.

Yes. And that's, oh, a dream.

You know, it's almost like we can go
for a minimalistic look,

which is absolutely nothing.

LAUGHTER

This is a capsule wardrobe.
You know, just the best

of everything. And then, of course,
you upgrade it, you change it.

But what you don't do is duplicate
it and not let go of some stuff,

so we're leaving this section
lighter. Mm-hm.

With an hour to go, Dilly gets
the family together for one final

push to clear as much as they can.

OK, everybody, this is it.

This is our final flurry.

Check every section.

Anything you want to have a look
through.

Anything you want to double check.
Everything, donate.

Everything, donate.

All right. Go, go, go!

Three, two...

..one! That is it!

Yes! Woohoo!

Two days ago, the family was
overwhelmed by their possessions,

but, after a couple of
exhausting days in the warehouse,

they have managed to let go
of half of their stuff.

Oh, my goodness! What a day!

I think, you know,
what they've done really well -

you know, the stuff
that they've let go of today

is going to make an absolute
life-changing difference

to that family.

They're no longer going
to be living in chaos

and I'm so excited for that.

Have you...slightly enjoyed it?
Yeah.

Now they could see, actually,

what I was dealing with,
with all that stuff.

And do we think we're going
to be able to help Mum

and help each other more?
Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.

Let's have a big hug. Well done.
All right, guys. Well done.

Be really, really proud
of yourselves.

Well done! Group hug!

LAUGHTER

Group hug! Well done.
Let's get out of here! Yeah!

It is an early start.

All the Clark family possessions
that they wanted to keep

are back at the house...

Morning, morning.
Morning, morning. Morning.

Morning, morning. How we doing?

..and we've got just one day

to get everything organised
before the family returns home.

How was warehouse day two?

Do you know what? I have to...
Hats off to you.

Hats off to you! I am so...
Wait, can somebody record this?

Are you serious? Are you serious?
You're happy?

I don't want to admit it,
but it's the best you've ever done.

Oh! Oh! Oh, wow.

It's like a compliment
and an insult all in one.

LAUGHTER

I don't know how to take it!

But I'm grateful. Yeah.

Even though the warehouse went well,
we know that we can have

the best warehouse days in the world
and still be really behind on this.

So, if we just crack on,
like every other house...

Yeah. Yeah? Are we all happy? Yeah.

Yes! Right. Sounds like we've got
a plan. Sounds like a plan.

Before Rob gets too busy,

I get in there quick
with a small project for him -

upcycling the family's
kitchen table.

So, I feel like, if we just
chop the legs off a little bit,

make it a bit lower -
coffee table. Yes.

I'm thinking we change the shape.

Instead of it being a circle,
we then turn it into an oval.

Perfect. I love you.

Yeah? I can't wait to see this.
Love you back.

It makes sense to use it,
doesn't it? No, it does.

It would be a waste. Yeah.

While Rob gets on with
shortening the table legs,

Iwan is sprucing up
the family's trainer collection.

Got a little tip for you.

If your trainers are a bit smelly,
taking the insoles out...

And I'm going to put them
into these freezer bags.

You could use
a plastic carrier bag, as well.

And then freezing them
will actually k*ll all the bacteria,

and that's going
to stop them smelling.

Dilly would probably want me
to label that,

"Inner sole - do not eat."
HE CHUCKLES

They'll be all right.

In the garden,
I'm mixing one part paint

and two parts glue
to one part water...

Come on!

..to create some artwork
for the bare living room walls.

I'll make a dark blue and a light.

Oh! I've got it on my trousers.

It actually looks like
it's part of my outfit.

This is the fun part.

Here we go. One blob.

I'm going to, like,
blob in the middle of the blob.

Looks like an eye.
Shall I shake it, do you reckon?

If I shake it up a bit, maybe...

Yeah, look. Maybe if I just...

SHE GASPS

It's beautiful.

Stace...
Don't even start with me, Rob.

I can hear the judgment
in your tone already.

You know what?
This here has character. Exactly.

There we go.

Beautiful!

In the living room, Rob's creating
a bespoke shelving unit

to inject some personality
into the bare walls,

as well as providing
useful storage space.

I'm installing my
scaffolding-inspired TV media unit.

Now, if you went to the store to go
and buy this as a complete set,

you could be paying upwards

of £1,000.

But if you want to do it like me -

by buying all of
your components individually

and then doing it yourself -

you can do it all for under £200.

It's late morning and,
so far, we're making good time.

Now clear of the clothes,

I'm in the master bedroom,
trying to give it that hotel feel

so that Toyah and Ron
can enjoy the new space.

Just trying to jazz up
Ron and Toyah's bedroom.

I have got some really cheap
battens of wood.

We sanded them down and
stained them and treated them,

and now I am just battening the wall
with them.

This block of wood -
I'm using as a spacer.

So, I'll put it next to
every single one

and then line the wood up with it.

And then, to make sure
that it's straight,

I'll just put the spirit level
up against it,

move it to wherever it needs to go,
and that's it -

it's ready to pin in.

You can use, like, expensive woods

like oak and what they use
in the magazines -

it's absolutely fine -
but this looks just as effective,

I think, for a fraction
of the price.

I'm using a staple g*n -
an air-compress one -

but you could just literally nail
nails into the wall.

You don't have to have one of these.

And it's as easy as that!
Onto the next one.

Meanwhile, Ron and Toyah
are busy donating

their unwanted items
from the warehouse.

Hello. Welcome to our clothes swap.

I've brought some clothes to donate.
That's really helpful.

I have spare recyclable electronics.

Yeah, we've got a basket
just over there - the recycling hub.

If you pop it in there... Thank you.

Back at the house,
and with only three hours to go,

we're cleaning Isaiah's trainers

with cotton wool
soaked in nail varnish remover.

This is not a family
whose trainers you mess with, is it?

No. You've got to be careful
with theirs.

It's like the prized possessions.
They are trainer-mad.

Hold on, can we just appreciate
that side and that side?

Yeah, come on!
It's incredible, isn't it?

I use nail varnish remover
everywhere.

It's good for things like Biro.

If you get a permanent marker
on the side -

nail varnish remover.
Yeah, whip it off.

We've only got about
another 60 pairs to do.

We are so behind.
What are you doing at the minute?

No, I was just staring at you...

Yeah. ..because it was so
satisfying.

I am going to do my job, I promise.

Rob's doing the finishing touches
to his floor-to-ceiling wardrobe,

which should house
all of Ron and Toyah's

newly sorted capsule wardrobes.

I've finally completed
the special feature of this wardrobe

that's going to assist Toyah
reaching the top.

As you can see,
our step is on wheels.

As useful as that is,
it also makes it unsafe

because it can move underneath her,
so I've made up a special mechanism.

So, when I pull it out,
that flicks up,

so it can't slide in.

Push that there.

Happy with that.

I hate to say it cos I feel like
I'm going to jinx it,

but we're in a better position
than I anticipated -

probably one of the best positions
we've been in for midday ever.

I don't want to say that out loud
cos I feel like, sometimes,

you can get into
a false sense of security

when things are going well
and everyone starts to slow down.

So, I just want to keep
the energy up, carry on going

like we're not in a good position

and, hopefully,
we might finish this house on time.

It'll be a first,
but you never know.

Oh, look at this! This is beautiful.

There we go. Nice.

Got my corkscrew.

Don't worry, I'm not getting
on the bottle already!

This is because,
when you take stuff off a wall,

if it's been put up properly,
there'll be wall plugs in there.

And, sometimes, they can be
really awkward to get out

cos the whole point of them
is to keep the shelf,

or whatever it is on there,
secure on the wall.

So, they open out, a lot of them,

when they're inside
things like plasterboard,

and getting them out
can be really tricky,

so I use a corkscrew.

I'll basically - I'm not joking -

screw it into the plug and push.

I'm sorry, but look at that.
How easy?

The whole plug comes out.
None of it's left in the wall.

So, now that's ready to fill,
sand and paint. Done!

Now I just need to find a hack

for how to get the plug
off of your corkscrew!

Now the kitchen has
extra shelf space,

Dilly is in her element
deciding how to fill them.

This is what I live for.

I mean, have you ever seen
a ginger nut look so beautiful?

We like to stack our biscuits.

If that is not heaven in a jar,
I don't know what is.

Oh, lovely!

For a cheap,
clever storage solution,

I am going to attach
two bread bins together

using some legs we just found online

and, hopefully, it'll be
a little bread-side table.

I just love saying that!

So, this is just a cheap bread bin.

It was this kind of wood material
on the outside,

so we've painted it white.

I've attached one leg to this one,

and, basically,
you just line them up

so that both the bread bins
are together,

and then three feet.

One of them, I'm going
to spread across both the bins

so that it basically acts as
something that holds them together.

OK, that's it!

Now I'm going to turn it upside down
and see if it actually works!

Ready?

Ta-da! A bread-side table.

Needs just a bit of extra support
up the top, but it's not a problem.

Now the family have cleared
their trainer collection,

we've turned the space
off the kitchen into

a fully-fledged laundry system.

This is going to change
the family's life.

We have a section for
each member of the family

and I've even assigned them all
their own laundry basket.

They've got everything here
for their clean laundry,

dirty - colour, dark and white.

By doing this, they can all help and
take part in the laundry process.

We can only pray, right?

Isaiah is trainer-obsessed,

so we've made him a proper
trainer storage on the wall,

and now I'm just putting some LED

strip lighting across the bottom
of the shelves.

It is so simple - peel and stick.

Are you ready for this?
Three, two, one...

SWITCH CLICKS

Oh!

I thought they weren't going
to work then.

Isaiah's going to love this,
I know he is.

Oh! Oh!

Oh, Iwan! Don't let Stacey see this

cos she'll be glue-gunning it
to a picture frame or something.

One hour to go
and it is all coming together.

Ron's got loads of
incredible medals.

I'm putting them in a little box
so that he can really enjoy them.

How cool is that?

Oh, my goodness! He's such a genius.

Look at that!
I can get to the top shelf!

Oh, that looks so good, Rob.
All right. Right, go, go, go!

Come on! Which way? Extra mile time!
This way? All right.

Literally ten minutes left.
What?! Yeah, that's it.

So, so excited about the fact
the family are coming home tomorrow

and we're going to get
to walk them through.

Come on, everyone.

I just feel like
every room is so different

and has proper personality,
and really just speaks them.

I think we're good.
We're good to go! Woo!

Is it, though? Are we done?

THEY CHEER

Done. Yes! Yes! Come on!
Well done, g*ng.

Hey! Ooh, squidge... Ooh!

the Clark family home groaned

under the weight of belongings
shipped here from America.

With no systems in place
for their accumulated stuff,

their new home fell into chaos.

I'm so excited! Yay!

Aw!

Aw, it's so nice to see you both.
It is.

I cannot wait to take you inside.

Are you both ready? Yeah! Yeah.
Are you sure? Yeah. Yes!

Shall we do it? Yes, yes, yes, yes!
Let's do it. OK, come on.

Oh, wow!

Oh, my goodness!
That looks lovely! Wow!

This is outstanding.

The old living room
was lacking in character.

Now we've painted the room
a calming blue-grey

and given the space personality

by mounting family photos
and artwork on the bare walls,

building a unit
to display precious items,

and upcycling the dining room table
into a coffee table.

Oh, my goodness! This is amazing.
Whose house is this?

This is your house!
I still... Oh, my gosh!

And look at Isaiah!

Do you recognise this table?

Is that the table from the kitchen?

That's your old kitchen table.
What?!

No way!

Oh, this is lovely. And this -
we got these industrial poles online

and Rob just cut
old scaffold boards to size.

So, now there's proper storage
if you need to hang anything up,

whatever it is.
This is amazing.

That's proper cool.
Yeah. And as promised,

sorry, but it's all out.

SHE GASPS

Oh, wow. It has to be.

Ron's Air Force medals
now take pride of place.

That is cool. Oh, that's lovely.
Thank you, guys.

They should not be hidden away
somewhere. No! Yeah.

Also, this is one thing
I won't be offended... OK.

..if you don't love it... OK.
..and you want to give it away.

OK. So, I made some artwork.

SHE LAUGHS

You made it? I did.
I painted that. I loved it,

but there was a few of the g*ng who
may have had a little laugh at me.

No, we have to keep that now.
Honestly, you can just hide it away.

When we come back to check that
you've kept up with the house,

stick it back on the wall.

Oh, no, I love it.
I actually love it.

Aw, I love you. That is great. Yeah.

Come on.

Oh, that is proper dope!
Oh, my goodness!

Just one week ago,
the kitchen's lack of cupboard space

created clutter
and the surfaces were covered with

the family's possessions.

Now it's a clean and tidy space
to cook and eat,

with open shelving in place
where the walls were bare.

Come into your kitchen.

What?! Oh, my God! Oh, my goodness!
We've got space!

It's not just blank. Wow!

This cupboard was so lonely
when we first came in here. Yeah.

It was this random, lonely cupboard
in the middle. It was sad, yeah.

Rob found some scaffold boards
that we cut into shelves

and put these
industrial brackets on,

kind of to match the theme
of the front room

so that it follows through
a little bit.

Literally can't remember
what it was like before now.

Look at this. I love it. Aw!

You can open it if you want.

Oh! Oh!

THEY LAUGH

Dilly has been working hard
on those American snacks.

THEY LAUGH

Iwan... Can I just say,
first of all,

got a bone to pick with you, Ron?
Oh, no. What did I...?

I don't know how you're cooking
all your barbecue meats,

but Iwan had to get
the industrial pastes out

to clean this up cos he was like,

"No amount of lemon juice
is going to soak this away."

THEY LAUGH

He has literally made it like
brand-new.

Oh! I don't even want to use it now.
Just a bit of foil. Yeah, yeah.

Where's Iwan? I'll let him know
it just adds more flavour to it.

THEY LAUGH

OK, come through.

We turned a neglected hallway

into a practical laundry room.

Dilly has created
an easy-to-use laundry system.

Wall-mounted baskets
store clean clothes

and labelled washing bags
guide sorting.

Here are where
the dirty laundry goes.

Amazing! Colour, dark, white -
all in their separate bags.

Everyone can bring their stuff down.

Are you listening to this, Ron?
Yeah. Bring your stuff down... Yeah.

..chuck it in the laundry bags
and then wash, dry, put in here.

Y'all left me no excuses.

THEY LAUGH

Now the kids can get involved,
as well.

Instead of me being like,
"Come on, guys,"

I can be like,
"Your baskets are filled up.

"Go and put them away." 100%.

You two are so quiet!
We have actual stairs to climb up.

You're not going to break your neck
on the stairs. I feel so safe.

You can dance in the hallway now.
I love it. I love it. OK.

It already looks bigger
cos I can see the floor! Come in!

A week ago, Toyah and Ron's room
was a bland box

overflowing with family washing.

Now it's a sanctuary,
with decorative panelling

created from wood mounted on
walls of dark green paint.

Wow! Oh, my goodness!
I love the wood.

Do you? Yeah, I love it. I did that!
Did you really? I love it. Love it.

That is basically roof battens
that we stained.

And then we painted
the back wall... Yeah.

..and then I nail-gunned
all the battens

to make a panel effect
across the back. I love it.

So, it's super efficient, cheap,

and I think adds a whole
other dimension to the room.

I love it. Do you love it?
Love it. I love this.

The genius that is Rob... Yeah.

..built this from scratch
and fitted it into the wall.

It is all the way to the top.

Dilly has meticulously organised
every single item of your clothing

and put it all... No way!
..away properly.

That is actually dope.

And also, I know that
this is really quite high,

so Rob had a genius idea

and he basically made
an in-built step

that you can pull out.
Oh, my goodness! That's amazing.

Do you want to give it a go? Yes.

Oh, yeah, that's perfect for me.

THEY LAUGH

Oh, I love it. In here...

SHE GASPS
..is Ron's wardrobe. Oh, wow!

Oh, that's amazing! Oh, my gosh!

That is so cool.
So, you've got your own space here.

And we didn't realise
how deep this wardrobe was,

so Rob made it so that
you can pull this right out...

Of course he did. ..so that you can
get to the stuff at the back,

as well as the stuff at the front.
That's so cool. Yeah.

I'm happy. Yay! I am happy.
I'm so glad you're happy.

Oh, this is so good. You deserve it.

The kids arrive
to see their new rooms.

Come in to your new bedroom.
Oh, wow! Oh, my gosh!

Ari and Alissah's room
was bursting at the seams

with clothes and outgrown toys.

Now the room has been reconfigured
to give both girls their own side

and we've even managed to squeeze in
a desk each for work and play.

Oh, my goodness! That's so cool.

We have two dressing tables!
Yes! One for each of us now.

Do you remember your old beds -

how we had to Mission: Impossible
shimmy into the room? Yeah.

Well, we decided
they were obviously too big

and didn't work in the room,
so we sold them

and used the money
to buy you brand-new beds,

so they now fit against the wall.

Now you can actually walk in here.

Yeah, freely!
You've got some floor space.

Also, these beds are
really cool because...

..you can lift them up really easy
and store all the bits and pieces

that you don't need out
at the moment underneath there.

So, that is your new
under-bed storage.

Wow! Can I jump on my bed?

Yes, you can jump
on your bed! Ready?

Three, two, one!

THEY LAUGH

I'm going to drag you off!
How is it?

SHE LAUGHS

Is it comfy? Yeah.

And we know how special
your precious Barbies were to you,

and so Rob made
this cabinet for them

cos they're obviously something
that are really special,

that should be just displayed.
This is so cool, honestly.

Do you love it? Yeah. Also,
if you just look in the middle,

between your beds there,
I made you a bedside table.

Oh! Those are bread bins.

So, I stuck bread bins together.
That's actually really smart.

Well, I didn't come up
with the idea.

It's kind of a hack
that I saw online

and it's called a bread-side table.
That's funny.

THEY LAUGH

OK, are you ready? Yeah.

Come in... Yo!
..to your new bedroom. That's crazy.

Seven days ago,
Isaiah's room was a cramped space

with nowhere for
his trainer collection.

Now the space
has been sorted for study,

and smart shelving
has been added for the trainers

Isaiah plans to photograph and sell.

That's better than
what I pictured it. Is it?

Yeah. Yay! I'm normally good
at picturing stuff, too.

So, we put all your clothes
under there

cos you didn't have
much of a wardrobe before.

Yeah. It was kind of
a slinky little... Yeah.

It looks really good, yeah.
Thank you. No, you're so welcome.

It's, like, me written
all over the walls, everything.

Yay! Yeah.
Aw, that makes me so happy.

CHEERING

Hello! Hi!

Hello! Do you like it?

Thank you. You did amazing!

Do you love it?
Yeah, we're so happy.

Aw! Thank you so much.
Are you pleased?

Yeah, so happy.

Thank you, guys. No, we just
wanted to say thank you, guys,

for doing this amazing job for us.
We are so thankful.

Our pleasure.
Aw, you deserve it.

You've been the most incredible
family. So lovely.

We had huge ambitions
for this house.

I think, because the whole family
worked so hard in the warehouse,

we knew that we wanted to go
as far as we could possibly push it.

Our heart and souls
go into these projects,

and I'm just so pleased
they love it,

and I'm so proud of the team and...
Yeah. Woohoo!

Life has changed dramatically
since our house has been sorted.

It's made my life easier.

Not only that, the kids are
actually doing the systems.

If Alissah left one thing out
on the desk or something,

I was like,
"You need to put that back now.

"We have a system."
And it's always...

It's become our new phrase,
hasn't it, Alissah?

It's like, "We have a system!"

I was just like, "I don't believe
they're literally going

"to come down here and
put their clothes in the basket."

But they do! It was a shock,
and it's a pleasant one, so... Yeah.

I've noticed a lot more people

are interested in the things
I'm selling

and I think it's due to
how presentable it looks.

This whole experience
has just brought our whole family
together a lot more,

like, we can really enjoy
each other's company a lot better.

This place feels like my home now.

I feel settled, which then
makes me not stressed out.

It just makes me happy
to see her unstressed, smiles,

it makes for a stress-free life.
