to get everybody out to a place like this

and have a little fun.

It's a nice, little bonding session.

Recently, Mark dropped a bit of

a bombshell on us when he told us

that he's bringing Nick into the business

to help facilitate some high-end deals,

and we're bringing on

two of Nick's fabricators, Brian and Jake.

[Jake] Damn, do you guys

get to do this all the time?

[laughs] No.

I kinda feel like we're on our first date.

[laughing]

[Tony] Mark, Shawn, and Nick are hoping

that tonight can be

a bit of a bonding session for all of us.

And even though

these guys seem like good dudes,

we don't know how all of this'll work.

It's gonna take some time

to see how all this plays out.

[Mark] Uh-oh. Spun out.

[Shawn] Spun out but didn't roll it.

Look at this.

-[Nick] There he goes, guys. There it is!

-[Shawn] Oh!

attract the attention of high-end clients

that are willing to pay big money

for my creative vision.

[Mark] And our most recent project,

a one-off Lincoln-Zephyr,

has really turned a lot of heads.

[Mark] One person that took

particular notice was Nick Smith,

one of the country's

premier high-end car brokers.

[Nick] So tell me

about this Lamborghini of yours.

Fantastic.

[Mark] He's agreed to partner with us,

and together we want to take Gotham Garage

from a boutique business

to a thriving worldwide enterprise.

[excavator beeping, creaking]

But we're not completely giving up

what got us here: upgrade and trade.

So this shop is gonna be busy.

[Caveman] Wow. That's a beautiful car.

[Mark] That's why we're also bringing on

two of Nick's super-skilled fabricators,

Brian and Jake.

What we're attempting here

is crazy ambitious.

[heavy rock music playing]

We could fall flat on our face,

but at this garage,

we never shy away from a challenge,

and we're gonna give it

everything we've got.

[Caveman] Up, up, and away!

-[Mark] They'll trip when they see this.

-[Nick] Right on, brother.

I think this car's gonna scare 'em.

It's a little too nice.

Hey, you guys. Something's driving in.

Oh, no way.

-[Tony] Got the whole family.

-Let me out, Mark.

-Is it a rental?

-[Shawn] Hey.

-[Tony] Guess the child locks work.

I'd hate to be your pet.

[Tony] This is a nice Charger.

-[Mark] It is.

-What are we doing?

-[Mark] This a 2013 Dodge Hemi.

-[Jake] An actual Hemi?

An actual Hemi. Only paid 22 grand for it.

Got a pretty good deal.

And this is a huge high-end deal

that Nick has put together for us.

And you'll like this guy.

His name's Tony Nino,

and he's actually one of the biggest

exotic and luxury car dealers

in the entire country.

-[men] No way!

-Ooh!

Nick's client, Tony,

is that elusive type of client

that we've been

trying to track down for years.

This guy is a straight-up baller.

He's a big-name collector.

Plus, he's willing to give me

full creative license

to go insane on this car.

You should see this guy's collection.

He's got everything.

Shawn slipped on his own drool walking in.

[laughing]

[Mark] This is why bringing on Nick

makes a difference.

We've worked with high-end clients

in the past,

but we've never had

the connections to go all in.

Nick knows everyone in this world.

So if things go well, the hope is

that we can

eventually transition this business

exclusively into

these high-profile clients.

So when we sat down with Tony,

he really wanted to do

an American muscle car

because he's already got so many exotics.

But he also wants

to be able to drive it like a new car.

So I figured, you know what?

Why don't we give him

the quintessential, mopar muscle car.

We're gonna build

a 1969 Dodge Daytona Charger Hemi,

but we're going to do it

on this 2013 chassis.

So it'll be the new version

of that old car.

-That's big.

-Oh yeah.

[Mark] The 1969 Dodge Daytona Charger is

a legendary car.

They only made 503

available to the public,

making it one

of the rarest muscle cars ever built.

An all-original Daytona Charger

will easily sell

for over a million dollars at an auction.

And that is why we're taking

this 2013 Charger

and transforming it

into the '69 Daytona for Tony.

He's not looking for

an ultra-rare museum piece

that sits in his garage.

This car is intended to be driven

and driven hard.

-[exciting rock music playing]

-To achieve that aerodynamic look,

we're gonna start

by completely modifying the doors.

We'll turn it into a two-door

by literally stretching the front doors

towards the back of the car.

From there, we'll custom fabricate

our own version of the iconic rear wing.

In the front, we're gonna build

a handcrafted nose cone

to emulate the original Daytona.

We'll give it

an iconic race car paint scheme,

and, of course, all the final touches

that make it a Gotham one of a kind.

Not only are we doing a car

for a high-profile client,

-but we're getting paid $135,000

-[Constance] Ooh!

-[crew] What?!

-and that's a pretty substantial payday

-for a deal like this.

-[Caveman] Yeah!

[Nick] I've been watching Gotham Garage

for quite some time now,

and their creativity

is to the point of genius.

I've got a database of clientele

looking for something interesting,

something unique,

something no one else has.

And I think

Gotham can provide that to them.

I'm gonna make my first creative decision.

I'm done gum flapping.

Let's get into building the cars,

all right?

[Caveman] Right on!

-Nick, let's go do some real work.

-Let's do some real work.

[Nick] But it's a risk.

I've seen a number of garages

do some fantastic work,

super creative builds,

but they can't get next level

'cause they can't get enough cars

out the door with consistent quality.

[Mark] Let's get this thing blown apart

so we can put it back together.

[Tony] All right.

[Nick] I know we can take this garage

to the upper echelon of custom car shops.

I certainly have the contacts

to make that happen,

but they have to build higher quality cars

and they have to do it consistently

and they have to do it often.

I think this client and this Dodge Charger

is a great first build

to test this new venture.

[Tony] This is so different.

Nobody's sucking down rust dust

and getting tetanus.

You guys aren't even dirty.

-So it's not all just sugar and plums?

-[Tony] Usually, there's rat turds too.

[chuckling]

[Mark] This Dodge Charger

is about to go through

an absolutely massive transformation,

but it's a very ambitious build

even by the standards of this shop.

[dramatic rock music playing]

The doors alone are going to be

a huge undertaking.

Converting this car from a four-door

into a two-door is extremely complicated.

[Tony] I pretty much have everything done,

but I'm stuck on something.

[Mark] See how the window sits

into a little white plastic thing,

and there's a push on the back

and then the glass comes out?

[clicks]

[Tony] Yeah. Okay.

[Mark] Even though

this is a complex build,

this is the type of overhaul

that we're gonna have to get used to.

And that's why I wanna use this car

to put Brian and Jake's skills

to the test.

You guys double-teaming

the back door over there?

We have fabrication hands.

We don't go good with plastic things.

-[chuckling]

-[Mark] Yeah.

From what I can tell, their metal work is

some of the best fabrication I've seen,

but there's a big difference between

doing sheet metal on a classic car

and building an elaborate custom car

like this Charger.

So on this build, we're really gonna

find out what they're made of.

-Not bad for a half a day's work.

-Yeah.

[Mark] So next thing up on this is

we get to stretch the doors.

But first thing in the morning,

I gotta meet Shawn.

He's gonna show me

what he alludes to is a very nice car.

Brian and Jake, you guys hop back

on this Charger first thing

so you can build up

some cross-bracing inside the car.

Tony, Caveman, and Constance,

bring all your tools

over to Gotham in the morning,

and once Shawn and I pick up

that other car, we'll meet you there.

-The new guys put everything away, right?

[Mark and Constance chuckle]

[Shawn] This is nicer

than what we're used to.

[Mark] This isn't bad. You're right.

No, no, no. It's not this.

I got something over here.

[Mark] Why do I feel

the nice you're talking about

is one of those trick things that you do.

-Can you trust me one time on this?

-[Mark] No, not ever.

So obviously, the Dodge Charger is

our big money commission build,

but for the past few weeks,

I've also been working on

a very big upgrade and trade deal.

[Mark] Every time you tell me it's nice,

it's always nice on one side,

and then I get to the other side,

and it's not nice.

Look, I know everyone's excited

about this Charger deal

and Nick's big-time clients,

but, hey, I can't let our new pal Nick

one-up old Shawny boy, now, can I?

-Are you ready?

-I can't wait.

All right. You tell me if this isn't nice.

-Huh?

-So it's a Barracuda.

-[Shawn] '68 Barracuda.

-[Mark] Okay, it's kind of nice.

Why don't you take a closer look?

Look inside there. This is a race car.

-[Mark] It's got a roll cage.

-Yeah.

[Mark] Got the right gauges.

Somebody actually put

a little bit of money and work into this.

-So what's under the hood.

-Oh, man.

[Shawn] Check that out, huh?

-[Mark] So that's a 360, huh?

-[Shawn] That's a built 360.

[Mark] How much is this car?

Okay, it's 15 grand.

Fifteen thousand dollars?

-Yeah.

-Where you been the last ten years?

Upgrade and trade cars

start at $500 to $1,000.

Yeah. But here here's the thing is,

I got this all mapped out, all right?

This $15,000 car,

with only a couple of trades,

can lead us to a 458 Ferrari Italia.

-Really?

-Yeah.

I just said the f-word.

How do you like that?

How is that possible?

Explain that one to me.

I got this guy named Patrick.

He's a race car guy,

loves to do a lot of street racing.

The main reason he wants this

is to beat his buddy.

His buddy's got

this souped-up Porsche 911.

I guess that Porsche has been

whooping him good recently,

and Patrick wants a car

that can finally take it down.

So if we could just beat that Porsche,

he's willing to trade this car

for a Tesla Model S.

And I got a guy willing to trade

that Tesla even for a Ferrari.

[exciting rock music playing]

To get this trade jump-started,

we'll need to take

this race-ready Barracuda,

and turn it into

a super unique road warrior.

If we can make it capable

of smoking that Porsche

in a quarter-mile street race,

it'll lead us to a Tesla Model S.

To make sure

a Tesla is worthy of a Ferrari,

the client's asking for

a one-of-a-kind overhaul

that only Gotham Garage could pull off.

And if we can,

it'll lead us to the gem of all gems.

A Ferrari 458 Italia.

If we could give it

the ultimate Gotham twist,

we should be able to get

upwards of 200 grand for that car.

I gotta be honest, dude.

This sounds like a really complicated way

to get our hands on a Ferrari.

Listen, this is a different kind of trade.

Yeah, it's a different kind of trade.

I understand

it doesn't make sense on paper,

and there's a lot of mismatched pieces,

but we're talking about a Ferrari here.

[Mark] As much as Shawn

would never admit this,

I think he's got something to prove

with this upgrade and trade deal.

Now that Nick is here

and bringing in these big money builds,

I'm sure Shawn wants to prove to everyone

that he can run with the big dogs too.

[Shawn] Yeah,

it's a little bit more of a risk,

but, I mean, we're talking about

a 200 grand cash-out on a trade deal.

How crazy is that?

[Mark] So look, I'm going to

reluctantly trust Shawn on this deal,

but he's gotta own it and make sure

nothing falls through the cracks.

I'm apprehensive to say the least,

but I get what you're saying,

and I'm willing to take the chance on it.

I'll just tell you one thing.

If this doesn't work out

the way you're laying it out,

you're the one taking all the heat for it.

I take the heat for everything anyway.

[Mark] No, you don't.

-[Tony] What is that?

That can't be

[Tony] Guess Shawn wasn't lying.

It is a nice car.

-[Caveman] Yeah, but

-[Constance] Barracuda. This is nice.

[Tony] I was expecting

a rusted-out turd bucket.

Are you saying I got a terrible reputation

of bringing in turds?

-[Caveman] Yes.

-Yes. Absolutely.

-Oh, come on.

-That's why we call you plumber.

[laughing]

[Mark] So, let's get it off the trailer,

get it inside.

And, uh, Shawn'll tell you

what the big deal is.

[Caveman] Right on.

Since the stakes of this trade are

much higher than a normal trade,

we need to get through each step quickly.

-[engine revving]

-[Caveman] Oh yeah!

How's that sound?

Our normal steps are one, two, and three.

Now, we're one, two, and three.

That's good there.

[Mark] So I wanna get Tony,

Constance, and Caveman lined out

on this car immediately.

[Tony] This car feels great, man.

[Shawn] This is the new

Gotham Garage here,

where we gotta up our game

just a little bit more,

and eventually,

this car will lead us to a Ferrari.

[Caveman] Nice!

All we gotta do is make this car

beat a 911 Turbo Porsche in a street race.

Okay. So we have a race car,

and we just need to make it faster.

So supercharger, turbo? What's

[Mark] No, we're going

straight to the horsepower.

What's in this little box

gets you right there real quick.

-[Constance squeals, chuckles]

-[Tony] You got some toys in there?

-We're gonna put nitrous in it.

-Right on!

[Mark] If we want to beat that Porsche,

this car's definitely gonna need

some extra boost.

Squeeze in the juice.

[Mark] And the quickest way

to do that is to give this 360 engine

a shot of pure, unadulterated nitrous.

We'll start by installing a nitrous kit

that will easily give this thing

a ton of extra horsepower

at the push of a button.

One shot from that orange bottle will

throw you right back into your seat.

But it doesn't stop there.

We'll also do

some additional performance tricks

to make this car as light and as fast

as humanly possible.

And, of course, no car leaves this shop

without that

crazy Gotham Garage thumbprint.

So I wanna spray it with a super-unique

light-absorbing black paint.

It'll give it an insane optical illusion

and make it super stealth.

[Shawn] So here's

the thing about this deal.

We need to get our hands on

this Tesla quickly

because the guy that owns the Ferrari is

already getting cash offers.

We need to move on this Barracuda fast

and get it ready for a race

that's happening this weekend.

Well, I'm gonna put you guys

on this car together.

I'm gonna put you in charge.

You guys understand the urgency of this

because a deal can fall through

in about, I don't know, one phone call.

"Somebody bought my car."

So, with that said,

I'm gonna go over to the other shop

and get back on the Charger

with Jake and Brian.

[Mark] Alrighty,

now that we got the cross-bracing in,

-let's talk about these doors.

-Cool.

So, basically,

we're gonna take this Charger,

and we're gonna take the four doors

and turn it into a two-door.

[men] Let's do it. Sounds good.

[Mark] So this B pillar

has to move 14 inches this way.

So we're gonna weld

the two doors together here.

We're gonna cut it down,

and the door becomes 14 inches bigger,

and then what's left of the back door

is gonna get welded here.

So what we're gonna do is

screw up a Charger.

-[chuckling] That's what we'll do today.

-Sounds like fun.

[Mark] Lengthening the doors is gonna

massively change the structure of the car,

so we need to make sure

all of our measurements

and all of our cuts are dead-nuts on.

We'll meet at the door with a Sawzall.

-Okay.

-Sounds good.

[Jake] We've been doing high-end

restorations with Nick for a few years,

but me, personally, I've been doing this

as long as I can remember.

My dad used to do metal finish work

and paint for Mercedes.

After I started learning from him,

everything took off from there.

Some of the cars I've worked on have won

"Best in Shows" in quite a few car shows.

Other cars I've done ended up

in very well-known music videos,

and a few of the cars I've worked on

actually ended up in the Petersen Museum.

[Jake] Moment of truth.

Yeah, yeah,

now it's time to destroy a car.

[chuckles]

[Brian] My background is

I grew up in a military family.

All my family were mechanics.

My mom was a jet engine mechanic.

As I grew older,

I got into cars, of course,

and once I figured out

what you could do with a welder,

I was hooked.

I've been fortunate enough to work with

some of the best welders, designers,

and fabricators in the industry.

People that've come from SpaceX,

from Boeing, you name it.

[Mark] Sweet. That's awesome.

Now, let's get that thing back 14 inches.

You need to dice it here and dice it here.

[Jake] We're hoping we add to the team,

and the way to really fit in, I know this

with everywhere I've ever worked,

is by working hard

and getting all the work done

-and everybody's happy with you.

-Yeah.

You got a good attitude

and you're busting a*s.

-I think that's all they care about.

-Yeah.

Voilà.

Your two-door, sir.

[Jake] A full two-door.

[Mark] I like that it's a two-door,

but I'm not I'm not too enthused

about the door handle.

[tense music playing]

[Brian] The handle?

It's not gonna stay there.

We're gonna move it.

It's not really the placement of it.

I'm just not thrilled about

the door handle itself.

Since we're building an homage

to the original '69 Dodge Daytona Charger,

I think it'd look way better

with the old-school door handles,

not the modern ones.

So that means we need to make

the throwback push-button door handles

work with the modern latch mechanism.

So would you want to put the old stuff

in here and just not use it?

-Any of the stuff we have?

-If that's what it takes.

That's an awful lot of work.

It is. Yes, it is.

But That's definitely what we came here

to do is do work. So

-It's kind of a thing here.

-[Jake chuckles]

-We're figuring that out. [chuckles]

-We'll get there.

[Mark] This is lesson number one

for Brian and Jake.

At Gotham Garage, just because it's done

does not mean it's done.

The thing I like is that Brian and Jake,

they didn't even flinch.

They know it's more work,

but they're down for it

because they know

it'll improve the look of the car.

Now we got the talking part's done,

let's get to the working part.

Let's make block off plates

and get these things ground down,

welded in, and then get back to welding.

[Jake] Cool.

[Tony] Got our nitrous kit.

We have to figure out how much nitrous

we're gonna put in this engine.

[Constance] Well,

I actually did find something.

This folder was in the back of the car,

and it has all, like,

-the internal specs on the motor and so

-No way.

I mean, according to this, we're already

running 550 horsepower on it.

And we can do a 50 shot, a 100 shot,

or a 150 shot.

And, obviously, each one of these shots

gives us a different range of horsepower

we'll be adding.

Right.

But I definitely

don't want to put so much in

that we end up blowing the motor

before we're even in the race.

Yeah. So we're racing a Turbo 911,

and a Turbo should be

around a 10-second quarter mile.

So if we go in the middle, that's 100.

That would take us to 650 horse.

That should be good

for about a 10-second quarter mile.

100 shot it is.

100 right in the middle.

It's kind of like Goldilocks.

-[tool clatters]

-[chuckles]

I mean, I know I'm blonde now

and everything, but that's Shawn's thing.

I'm sorry. I've just been waitin' to

I've been waiting for that one.

[chuckles]

If this guy is showing up

to the street race with a Turbo Porsche,

he's starting up here.

So basically with nitrous,

it's not cheating because that's

really what the nitrous kit is doing

is pulling us up to the same playing field

so we actually have a chance.

[sighs] All right.

But nitrous, at the end of the day,

is kind of unstable.

It is also the quickest way

to potentially blow up your motor.

[Caveman] So who'll test drive this thing?

[Tony] That's all me.

[Caveman] How come

I never get to drive 'em?

'Cause I'm the responsible one.

[Caveman] I'm into "sponsibilities."

No, I'm responsible. Not "sponsible."

[Constance laughs]

Luckily, we do know

the internals on this motor,

and we can apply this nitrous kit

with confidence.

But there is the potential

for the motor to just

[imitates expl*si*n]

All right. Nitrous line connected.

[Tony] All right, if you guys

wanna meet me over at the test spot

and give it a shake down.

-[Caveman] Fire it up, Tony. Let's go.

-[engine revs]

Yeah!

[Tony] This looks like a pretty good spot.

Got a nice good straight

and a little room to stop.

[Caveman] Whatever you do,

don't blow up the motor.

[engine revving]

[Tony] Ready?

Keep it straight.

[Constance] There we go!

It'd look better with me in it.

[laughs] Squeeze it!

[engine pops, revs normally]

-[bleeps]

[Constance and Caveman groan]

[Caveman] What the hell was that pop?

[Tony] Oh man.

The pop was a bad sign

right out of the gate.

[Caveman] Well, the car's still moving.

Motor must not be blown.

[Constance] But none of that sounded good.

[Tony] The car's not feeling real good.

When I hit the nitrous,

there was a little pop in the motor,

almost like the nitrous

isn't getting through the line clean,

and I'm just not getting that

hard acceleration that I was looking for.

[Constance] It's nothing catastrophic,

is it?

[Tony] No, but something's not right.

Something's definitely not right.

We gotta figure this out quick.

I'll meet you guys back at the shop.

Let's get the carburetor off this thing.

Nothing like doing it twice.

There's always a ton of pressure

on a trade deal like this,

but on this particular trade,

we're on a tight timeline

because this car needs to be

ready to race this weekend.

So, this has to go right.

I think we should check the solenoid.

[Constance] Yeah.

[Tony] Mark left me in charge,

and everybody's counting on me

to get this car done

and get the trade done.

I cannot let this one get messed up.

All right,

solenoid.

So let's see

if this thing is even working. All right.

[suspenseful music playing]

Yeah.

[Tony] It's clicking.

The solenoid is an electrical component

in the nitrous system

that opens or closes when activated.

I wonder if there's

something stuck in there.

[blowing]

It's There's almost nothing coming out.

But when I blow into

this particular solenoid,

there's either some form of blockage,

or it's just not opening all the way.

And if the solenoid

doesn't open all the way,

it's gonna restrict

the flow of nitrous into the engine.

[Constance] I mean,

if that is malfunctioning,

obviously that would give

that feeling of the, like, bogged down.

Right now, we should probably

just go ahead and replace it.

In the morning, I'll stop and pick up

a brand-new solenoid,

then we'll install it and immediately

take this car back to the test spot

and see if it works.

Okay. Yeah.

-[funky music playing]

-[Caveman] This ought to be fun.

[Mark] So I ordered our throwback

door handles for the Charger,

but while we wait on those to get here,

I have Brian and Jake trying to figure out

how to make

our modern door latch mechanism work

with the old-school

push-button door handle.

-Brian, you got a battery?

-Yep. Yep, yep.

[Jake] Bring it over here real quick

and we can test this.

I wanted to see if the factory door pull

that works off the key fob

would have enough pull in it

to actuate the door lock.

And then this will give us

an idea if it's gonna work or not.

Let's see. Fingers crossed.

-Perfect.

-Oh crap. It did work. Tight.

That's perfect. Hit it again.

Tight. That's actually cool.

-Do it again.

-Sure. I like to party.

It's pretty hilarious

to watch these new guys

learn the Gotham Garage way

of doing things.

on the first day of preschool

learning how to finger paint.

Now as long as they don't pull a Caveman

and eat the paint,

I think we should be okay.

electric door mechanism figured out?

-[Mark] Uh, I'll pass.

[Tony] This morning, we installed

the new solenoid on the Barracuda.

Let's knock this out

and get back out to the track.

[Constance] That'll do it.

[Tony] Hopefully, this will get our

nitrous system firing on all cylinders.

If not, we're gonna have to keep

troubleshooting this problem.

At that point,

it would be very hard to get this car

and it was like a kick in the pants.

It was just pulling hard and smooth

all the way down the track.

[Tony] That ran so good.

[all chuckling]

[Tony] Anything can happen

in a street race,

but I feel like me, Constance, and Caveman

have put us in the best possible position

to win this race.

We're coming for the Porsche.

I like that.

We're gonna get the car back to the shop,

finish it up,

get it ready for Mark to paint,

then it's off to the race.

[dreamy rock music playing]

[Mark] On this Barracuda,

speed was obviously

the number one priority.

But Patrick, our client, could have found

any shop to build him a fast car.

He wanted to trade with us

because he also wants a race car

that looks like nothing else on the road.

And that's where this paint job comes in.

It's called Black 3.0.

It absorbs 97.5% of all light,

which means it's so dark that

it sucks up any light that hits the car.

It'll give this Barracuda

an absolutely crazy optical illusion

that will blow your mind.

[sighs] It's totally gonna work.

-Hmm!

-[heavy rock music playing]

[Mark] Since this 'Cuda will feel like

a stealth race car at night,

I wanna add some LED lighting

under the car

to push the look even further.

When he hits the nitrous,

that's when the underglow comes on.

For the other guy,

as you're losing the race,

that's what you see is underglow.

God, that'd be beautiful.

[all laughing]

[Mark] When we're done,

this Barracuda is gonna look like

a flash of light flying down the road.

[epic music building]

This '68 Barracuda just looks nasty.

With that orange bottle, we added

20% more horsepower under the hood.

And with a few not-so-subtle touches,

we made this Barracuda look like

a shadow of its former self.

[music intensifies]

That Black 3.0 takes away

all of the contours of the car.

Tony, Constance, and Caveman

did an excellent job

of putting this car together quickly.

And then the shop is one step closer

to a very serious payday.

The engine looks spectacular.

It sounds great.

[chuckles] And I'm really excited

to hit that button and see what it does.

[Mark] All you gotta do

Now, you remember our deal.

It's gonna happen fast,

so there's no room for error.

He's gonna do a little shakedown run.

[Patrick yells indistinctly]

You better have your fingers crossed that

install these retro door handles

on the Charger.

Our client, Tony, is

a huge high-end car collector.

He's one of the biggest

exotic car dealers in California,

and he's going to scrutinize

every detail of this car.

So these door handles

are gonna have to look like

they came straight from the factory.

So once this is, when this is flat

-But see the handle is way out over here?

-[Tony] Mm-hmm.

I was thinking

we'll take some of this off this side

and tilt this in so that this touches.

-Gotcha.

-And tilt it a bit?

[Jake] So the goal on the door handles is

to make them feel like they're

originally intended to be on the car.

It's quite a bit trickier

than you would think.

From far away, you might not notice it,

but once you come closer to the car,

you realize the precise craftsmanship

that went into it.

That's perfect.

-Yeah, that's absolutely perfect.

Look, we know Mark's testing us

on all these things,

but that just adds

motivation to get it right

and show him what we can do.

-Look at that.

-Oh yeah, that fits perfect.

I'd already have that thing welded on

and bolted in. Looks good.

[Brian] For us, we want Mark and Tony

and everybody else on the team

to look at our work

-So now we just have to make it work.

and feel like our presence in the shop

can upgrade these builds

and step everything up a notch.

it's still 100% roadworthy.

but it's pretty nice just popping in a car

that we're test-driving,

I don't really hear anything creaking,

which is a good sign.

It's the biggest thing

I was worried about.

Just moving the the heaviest

structural part of the car backwards.

You know that B pillar?

Yeah, it's a pretty stiff car. It seems

like it's a good unibody construction.

of a structural problem do we have?

or if we messed up something structurally

with the entire car.
