[Mark] So you're just gonna walk out
like that in front of everybody?

[Shawn sighing]

You're so buried in that Humvee thing.

I just enlisted Nick's help
to bring in another high-end car, so…

I don't know.
You don't tell me about that?

I mean, for years we talked about stuff.

I didn't think it was that big of a deal.
Obviously, it's a big deal to you.

-Not that big of a deal?
-Yeah, you're not being replaced.

When Nick and I and the shop
had parted ways,

you were there, remember?

In that conversation, it was,

"If you ever find a client
that wants a Gotham Garage full build,

then let me know."

All right, I get that.
Just the fact that I didn't know about it,

and then I see all of a sudden
Nick coming in again, it didn't feel good.

[Mark] The upgrade and trade deal
that Shawn put together should have landed

with a six-figure Jaguar, and it didn't.

But fortunately, Nick reached out
because he found a client

that would let us
put our Gotham Garage thumbprint

on a vintage Ferrari.

I didn't want to distract Shawn
from his plan,

but in hindsight,

maybe I should've let him know
what I was doing.

-We went in a certain direction with Nick.
-Sure.

And it didn't work.

Exactly.

I have been thinking about a lot of stuff
and changing the way this shop operates.

So basically, I have a new direction
that I want to go in.

There's a bigger market
that's not really tapped into yet.

I'm talking about iconic, nostalgic cars.

When I say nostalgia cars, I mean cars
that people are already in love with,

even before we build them.

The Hot Wheels car, the Futura, the XNR.

Things that we've kinda already delved in
in the past that worked out very well,

that's where I wanna go.

I've had my eye on this 308 for a while.

It's the same iconic car
that Magnum, P.I. drove

and a perfect first test for the direction
I want to take this shop.

All of these cars have a following.
The people and the money are out there.

So my suggestion is with that Humvee,
if you can't sell it outright,

then find someone that will trade us
something of the same value

of those type of nostalgic cars.

Okay.

Don't forget, man,
you're always number one. [chuckles]

[engine sputtering]

[tools whirring]

[engine revving]

[rock music playing]

-How is he?
-[Mark] He'll be fine.

It was just a slight misunderstanding,
so he just needs a little Shawn time.

-Yeah?
-Yeah.

So tell me all about this client you have
for this 308 Ferrari.

Kim, she's great.
She's the wife of an old client of mine.

He's bought a bunch of cars from me
in the past.

She's looking for something special
for his birthday.

She's throwing a surprise birthday party
coming up soon,

and he's all into Magnum, P.I.

So she wants
a full Magnum, P.I. Ferrari 308

with the Gotham touch.

I love this.

It takes Gotham Garage right down the road
I wanna go down with these nostalgia cars,

so this is gonna be a really good fit.

-But there's a bit of a catch.
-Okay.

She just called me.
She's dead set on this one venue.

It's beautiful. It's on the water.
It's Hawaiian-themed, and it's perfect.

But the only time it's available
is in 11 days.

-Next weekend?
-I know.

If she had to wait,
it would be like three, maybe four months.

-Do you reckon it's doable?
-Uh…

I think it's doable. It's gonna be tight.

But it also comes down to
what's the budget.

She realizes what we're up against.
She realizes she's gonna need to pay.

It's gonna be north of six figures,
so it could be a good payday.

-Okay.
-But there's one more thing.

You're starting to sound like Shawn.
What's the one more thing?

I made the fatal error of asking
if her husband was into anything else.

She was telling me he's into spy gadgets,
James Bond kind of stuff

and Italian racing.

So if we could incorporate anything
from that line, she'll pay extra for it.

As long as we can get
the Magnum, P.I. stuff done,

I'm okay with making everybody work
a few late nights

to get the spy stuff in
and the Italian race car stuff.

-It's extra money.
-[Mark] Then we get the money.

We better get going.

[Nick] Off we go. Grab your wrenches.

[rock music playing]

All right, so let me get you guys
up to speed on this car.

So basically,
Nick has a buyer for this already.

[Tony] No way.

Yep. She's buying it for her husband
to give to him for his birthday,

and that's in a week and a half.

We're gonna unveil it
at his birthday party.

It's a surprise party.

So we're going to go
full Magnum, P.I. on this car.

The Ferrari 308 GTS was introduced in 1977

and represented a significant evolution
in Ferrari styling and performance.

Its sharper, angular body lines gave it
an aggressive look,

matching the power of
the larger V8 engine.

And by 1980,
this Italian roadster became a global icon

as the car Tom Selleck drove
all over Hawaii

in the TV series Magnum, P.I.

Okay, so here's the deal with this.

We got eleven days to build this car,
so it's going to be really tight,

but we're talking a six-figure payday
if we can pull this off.

-[Tony] Okay. That's good.
-[Jake] Cool.

There's a lot of styling on this car
that's timeless,

but there's also a lot
of carbon-dated parts on this car.

I mean, they're dated.
Like, dinosaur dated.

-You're talking about the bumper, right?
-[Mark] Yeah.

That's the worst-looking part of this car.

[Mark] Even though I think
nostalgia builds

are the way to go for this shop,

it doesn't mean we won't make alterations
to these vehicles.

I believe there's a strong market

for people that remember the car
from the past,

but they want it brought into the future
because it's not quite as comfortable.

It doesn't handle as well.

This body line, it's getting filled in.

All the creature comforts of now
put into the car of yesteryear

so that now it's at the same caliber
as a new Ferrari.

And that's the sweet spot.

First off,
we're gonna knock all the fugly off of it.

-Hell yeah, that sounds like fun.
-Okay.

To pay homage
to the original Magnum, P.I. 308 Ferrari

but add some needed modern touches,

we're gonna start with some monster-wide,
one-of-a-kind, custom-made wheels

and then fabricate huge fender flares
for the back and front,

giving the car an aggressive wide stance.

Then, to improve the aerodynamics,
we'll keep the car's lines flowing

by connecting the flares
with side skirt rocker panels

that wrap all the way around
to a custom front spoiler.

Once we upgrade the exhaust
to make this thing roar,

we'll cap it off
with a stylish rear valance.

And to go with
this callback to Magnum, P.I.,

we'll paint it with the iconic red
that made the 308 stand out for decades.

[Tony] Spin it this way.

[Caveman] Up, up, and away like Superman.

[all laughing]

[Kim] Mark and his team,
they are superstars.

The car looks amazing.

Can I tell you something that's hidden?

Look, the Gotham Garage.
Look in there, the spiderweb. Hidden.

-Isn't it exciting? I mean--
-[Nick] It is. It's wonderful.

[laughing]

Mark and everyone did
an absolutely fantastic job

on this Ferrari,

but now is the moment of truth.

[shushing] We have to be
really quiet, guys. He's here.

[Nick] Our birthday boy is
just around the corner.

[Kim shushing]

[Nick] I really hope he likes it.

I see him.

[rock music playing]

-There he is.
-[gasps]

[all cheering]

-[Bill] What's happening?
-Happy birthday.

[all laughing]

Wow!

It's incredible.

-Show him his present.
-[Kim] I hope that you like it.

-Like what?
-[Kim] Um, like that.

[Bill exclaiming]

No way!

[all cheering]

For the man who has everything.

[Bill] This is incredible.

[all applauding]

[Bill] So beautiful.

You have to thank
the guys from Gotham Garage.

Wow!

Hi, I'm Mark from Gotham Garage
and your lovely wife, Kim, commissioned us

to build you this James Bond,
Magnum, P.I., Italian-themed Ferrari.

This is incredible work. This is amazing.

[Mark] We gave it an Italian flag,
satin finish.

We knocked off all the California ugly
with the bumpers in the front end.

[Bill] Yeah, I can see that.
It's beautiful.

[Mark] My buddies built the wheels for us.
They're 14 inches wide in the back.

Gave it these really cool F1 mirrors.

It's got custom exhaust tips on it,
whole custom exhaust.

It's incredible.

So, a little birdie told me you got
this thing for like, 007,

-spy cameras.
-Absolutely. I'm a kid of the '80s.

[Mark] So, we went to great lengths

to give you some spy features
built into this car.

-Keep an eye on that plate.
-Yeah.

[Bill laughing] Oh, that's so cool.

[Mark] So now you're in getaway mode.

[Bill] Yeah. That is awesome.

[Mark] Let me show you something up front.

Those little silver rings,
those are infrared headlights.

To go with the infrared headlights,

-night vision goggles.
-Whoa…

On a road with no lights, you'll be able
to see everything for miles.

Now we're talking.

[Mark] That's straight from Gotham Garage
to you at the request of your wife.

Beautiful. This is amazing, man.

Best birthday ever.
It's just beyond expectation.

[Mark] Apparently, you got the best wife
in the world, my friend.

[all laughing]

[Kim] Mark and his team outdid themselves.

All I did was talk to Nick
and say, "Nick, knock his socks off."

-[Mark] Happy birthday.
-Thanks so much.

-Let's all go get a drink.
-There you go. Let's party.

[all cheering]

[rock music playing]

[Jake] Gotham sandwich right there.

[rock music playing]

[all cheering]

[indistinct chatter]

[all laughing]

[music stops]

[rock music playing]

[Tony] Caveman, your dance moves
on the conga line last night were epic.

How about the grass skirt
and the coconut shells?

-I've never seen anything like that.
-You probably never will either.

Okay, but like how many mai tais?

If you had to hold up as many fingers
as how many?

Last time I could see anything,
it was looking like this.

[Mark] You look
a little hungover there, buddy.

But in a good way, I think.

-Did everybody have a good time?
-We're still having a good time.

And the customer was super stoked too.

Yeah. She was so stoked about the car
and that we got it done on time,

got all the spy gadgets on it,

and we got the Ferrari painted up
like the Italian flag.

She gave us an extra $18,000.

-Wow.
-Wow. That's nice.

-All total, all in…
-[Jake] Yeah?

…$123,000 for a Ferrari.

Yeah! Hey, you guys can thank me
for conga dancing.

Everybody's gonna get a little bit
of money in their pocket.

I hope you're all happy about that.

You guys don't mind a little extra cash?

I'm glad I got some money. Now I don't
have to live on your couch, Tony.

-That worked out good.
-Right. For both of us.

[all laughing]

So, I think it's time to think about what
our next build is going to be.

So I've been thinking about
the direction of this shop

and where it should go, and I think
it should go with the nostalgia builds

because they do well for the shop.

The clients are always stoked.
They let us have free range on everything.

We give them a piece of their childhood,
and they pay us a lot of money to do it,

and everybody has fun doing it.

Every single one of these cars
has always paid off very well.

That's the direction of Gotham Garage.

I think that's the future
we should go down.

Well, if that sentimental connection
keeps getting us a tip on payday,

then we're doing something right.

I like the nostalgia cars too.

We always have a ton of fun doing them.
The XNR was so fun, the Splittin' Image.

I'd definitely love to build
some of the cars from my childhood.

[Mark] So, everybody's on board with that?

-Yeah.
-Aye, Captain.

[Mark] Good to hear because Shawn's got
something he wants to tell you.

I think I got a deal
that you guys are gonna absolutely love.

We're going to trade this Humvee
for two picture cars.

[Jake] Really?

The first project car is

the Nautilus car from
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

[Tony] What?

-[Caveman] No way!
-[Jake] No way!

-[Tony] Whoa!
-[Caveman] No, whoa!

Is that car ridiculous or what?

-You ever see one of those?
-Never.

They're like 40-foot long.

Do you know what that thing is worth done
if we fix it all up?

-More than this.
-Yeah, serious money.

-Hopefully three times more.
-[Shawn] And the other car?

Well, it's a bit of a surprise.

In fact, if you'll follow me outside,
I'll show you guys our next--

-It's here now?
-[Jake] Surprise?

-It's right out front here.
-[Jake] No way.

-You got an ice cream truck here?
-Is this the other half of the deal?

-[Constance] And…
-[Mark] How do you like that?

-[Tony] No way.
-[Shawn] You know what that car is?

-It's a '66 Crown Imperial, isn't it?
-Yeah, it is.

[Jake] So that's
the Green Hornet car, isn't it?

[Mark] It's the Black Beauty
from the Green Hornet.

-[Shawn] Close enough.
-So that's what we'll build.

-No way.
-Yeah.

We're gonna start
with a pretty darn good, clean car.

Where do you find a '66 this solid?

-[Tony] Does it run?
-[Shawn] Heck yeah, it runs.

[Mark] Everything works.
It's like the perfect car to start with.

-[Tony] Nice, it looks pretty good.
-I'm not seeing rust in the rockers.

-[Shawn] Not at all.
-[Mark] Nothing.

-[horn honks]
-It's got my approval.

Hey, somebody put some oil on that squeak
in the back seat.

[all laughing]

-Let's get it inside, get to work.
-[Shawn] Let's get this bad boy in.

-[Mark] All right, horses, giddy up.
-All right.

[Tony] This car sure
is heavier than it looks.

[Jake] Wait until we mount
all them g*ns on it.

[Caveman] Oh, now that'd be fun.

[Mark] Better than that, it gets missiles.

[Caveman] Oh yeah!

[all laughing]

[Caveman] Hey, I'm hungry.
Let's get something to eat.

[theme music playing]

[music stops]
