Samantha.
Hey.
You're burning up.
You're not able to continue.
We should take you
to the emergency department.
Can you hear me?
You're not okay.
Sam?
Narrator: one man...
And one woman...
I'm not leaving!
...alone for 21 days...
What is that?
...with no food...
Oh, god, I'm freezing.
...no clothes...
Aah!
...no water...
Aah! Move!
Do they have the skills
and the will...
Hurts.
...to overcome the most primal
survival challenge
Of their lives...
...naked and afraid?
Man: I don't have what it takes
to do this.

These are the mountains
of velebit,
One of the largest ranges
in eastern europe,
A colossal formation,
ominous and unforgiving.
Once a refuge for outlaws,
Its lush valley will provide
ample food sources.
But with great reward
comes a dangerous risk.
Staking claim
to the valley floor
Are pack-hunting
gray wolves,
The largest of all the canines,
Known to prey on the weak
and malnourished.
The most feared predators
Are now just waking
from their winter slumber --
The massive brown bears,
which despite their size
Have been clocked at speeds
of over 30 miles per hour.
At night,
icy winds are unleashed
From the snow-capped mountains,
Causing temperatures
in the valleys to plummet.
And with storm season
approaching,
Torrential rains
will make
Already cold conditions
hypothermic.
Sam:
I'm feeling nervous, excited.
I can't really pick
which one the most.
Oh, I'm really nervous.
My name is samantha ohl.
I'm 29 years old.
I'm from sharpsville,
pennsylvania.
My current job is
a stay-at-home mom.
I joined the military
when I was 18
When 9/11 happened.
I said, "I want to do that.
I want to go fight."
Where's mommy going today?
Um, to naked fray!
I'm doing this
for my husband and kids
Because I want my kids
To look back and be like,
"Well, my mom did this,
so she's a super badass."
Better look out,
she's coming for ya, croatia.
I was raised to respect a man.
Me and my husband
are both alphas.
But I would let him lead
because it's expected.
He's the man.
He's just a plethora
Of knowledge
for me with animals,
Uh, plants and birds.
So he's just like,
"This is going to make you
even more of a badass wife."
Narrator:
sam's military background
and hunting experience
Should help her adapt to this
unique mountain environment,
But her skills have
yet to be tested
Without the direction
of a strong male leader.
She begins with
a primitive survival rating,
Or psr, of 6.8.
Right now, I'm most nervous
about meeting my partner.
What's his personality,
Are you going to help me
and have my back for 21 days?
I've never been
naked like this, so...
Adam: that's going to be
a long time, you know,
To have the bugs
crawling on ya.
My name is adam,
I'm 29 years old,
And I'm a project administrator
from folsom, california.
I got married three months ago
to my wonderful wife, jennifer.
She's amazing.
She really is.
I mean, she's super tough,
tough as nails.
Jennifer thinks that it's, uh,
pretty cool to come out here.
Actually, it was her idea
For me to do this
in the first place.
Really love to complete
the challenge
And give her another reason
to be proud of me.
Say hi, jennifer.
Hi, jennifer.
I can set some traps,
I can start a fire, find water,
But, um, I usually don't
take things too seriously.
I joke around a lot.
But, uh, I'm like a kid
in a candy store out here,
So I think that's going to be
one of my main strengths.
Adam has extensive knowledge
of survival techniques,
But he has yet to
utilize these skills
In a true survival situation.
He starts with a psr of 6.0.
Sam: I hope my partner brings to
the table
Like a strong mind.
If he comes in, he wants to be
a leader, he can be a leader.
I like having an alpha male
around all the time.
It's always nice to have
that extra strength, too,
Especially a man.
Adam: 21 days naked is going to
be an experience for sure.
I'm most nervous of
making myself
Look like a complete idiot.
I know some people have strong
feelings about gender roles.
I feel like those
are pretty dated.
Maybe I can find a bear or wolf
That's willing
to take care of me.
Maybe it can be my sugar mama
or something like that.
I'm terribly sorry for
everything you're about to see.
Sam: being naked in front
of another man,
Especially not my husband,
I feel like it's going to be
a little awkward.
Hi.
Hi.
I'm adam, nice to meet you.
I'm sam.
Sam?
Yeah.
Oh, nice to meet you, sam.
Nice to meet you.
It's beautiful out, yeah?
Yeah.
We're kind of crazy, huh?
Yeah.
Well, nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
So I can see our bags
are over there.
Yeah.
You want to go take
a look and see?
Let's check 'em out.
All right.
Sam: I have good vibes,
nothing bad yet,
So I hope it stays that way.
Narrator:
in addition to a pot,
Adam and sam have
each been allowed
To bring one survival item.
I have my hatchet.
It's not heavy.
It gets the job done,
though,
So that's all that
really matters, right?
That's right.
I brought ferro rod.
We should have some fire,
Which will be good
on a day like this.
That was one of my big concerns
with the rain.
Adam: sam's a nice, sweet girl,
Seems to be really
into everything,
And so, looking forward
to the next 21 days for sure.
Do you have our map?
Yeah, I do have our map.
Excellent.
So we should head
With the stream up.
The only problems we're going to
have I see is wild boars.
I've k*lled one.
I've never speared one, but...
All right,
we'll give it a shot.
Yeah. And bears.
Good, hopefully they
stay far away.
Let's just start
heading up that way, right?
Yeah, which way do you
want to go?
Let's go that way.
I like it.
All right.
Adam: what made you decide to
give this a shot?
My husband, he's really the one
that got me into this.
He got me into loving
just being outdoors the most.
My husband's, like, the one.
He's like my guru.
Sorry, I'm probably going to
talk about him a lot
'Cause he's like
my best friend.
That's awesome.
Well, there's some massive
*bleep* right there.
Serious.
That's, like, massive.
Adam: definitely finding a lot
of animal activity around here.
Be easy to be afraid
of boars or bears or...
The thing that you gotta worry
about out here is staying warm.
If the nights get cold and
they're windy and they're rainy,
That ends your day real quick.
Adam: seriously can't believe
it's raining again.
Losing daylight.
Sam:
let's reprioritize fire
and a frame of our shelter,
Just at least something
to get us covered for now.
Yeah.
This looks healthsome.
There's those berries
to eat, right there.
They're full of iron.
We need those.
Great.
If we're right here,
This will be really awesome.
We can certainly set up
here if you want.
Oh, a water source.
Let's just scope it out.
Do you want to do that?
Sure.
This is a high area
right there.
Do you think it's big enough
to build at least a...
There's plenty of space
in here, yeah.
And we're right by food
for snacking, like bears.
I don't really know
where we're supposed to go.
You want to do it here
for the night?
Yeah, let's stay here
for the night.
Okay.
Adam: there's a lot of work to
be done in such a short time.
I don't really know
how much time has passed,
But it feels like it's
only been about two hours.
That's just not a lot of time
For, uh, how much work
that we have to do.
This is probably the ugliest
shelter I've ever made.
So what I'm going to do
is try to get a fire started.
All right, I'm going to go look
for some dead wood.
Okay. Good luck,
it's wet as hell.
Adam: this is all dead.
That's good for me.
Everything on
the outside is wet,
But if you can shave
off the outside,
Get to the inside,
that's going to be dry.
Slows things
down for sure.
I think I might've found
some dry wood.
What do you bet,
we got another hour?
30, 40 Minutes?
We gotta get a fire started
before it starts getting cold.
Without that I'm --
I'm a little worried
About how the night's
going to go.
Wow.
Come on.
Let's go. Come on.
It's not going to light on fire,
that's for sure.
Sam: I know.
Without fire, I can't survive.
I'm too small
for being in the cold.
It's super cold.
We can see our breaths.
So, no fire because
everything's wet.
He's out there doing
jumping jacks right now.
It's better than nothing,
so...
Adam: get outta here!
Adam: still working
at this fire thing.
The humidity is so high
That not even
good tinder will light.
*Bleep*
Sam: last night,
it was super cold.
Like, I know we don't want to
cuddle 'cause we're married,
That's cool,
but we're going to need fire
To keep us warm.
I also was more
scared last night
Because we had no fire.
We heard a growl.
That's when I got
kind of worried.
We were very vulnerable to,
like, predators.
Sam, I'm sorry.
I don't know what to do.
I don't think so.
Everything will be great.
Sam: adam and I are
different breeds,
But I need him to
step up and take charge.
It's raining.
Unbelievable.
This place can't
make up its mind.
I was worried about the rain.
The weather's changing a lot.
When it's raining,
it's just hard to do anything
'Cause you get wet
and then you get cold,
And that's when you start
getting frustrated,
And hopefully we'll get fire
together pretty quick.
Still working
at this fire thing.
We, uh, ripped apart
the wool bag
To make a tinder bundle,
And it's already so moist,
it won't light.
So, uh, I don't know
how this is going to be done.
Everything's wet back here.
Come on, son of a...
Damn it, I suck at this.
If this stuff
isn't going to light
And we don't have a fire,
I don't know.
I don't know how this
is going to happen.
There ya go.
Just keep it burning.
Oop.
That -- that one had a flame.
You dropped it.
This one did.
This one did?
Yeah.
Oh.
Yeah, it did.
I saw it and you dropped it.
Nice.
Good job, me.
Let's try again.
No dice.
I lost all
my energy now.
Sam: I was raised that
the man is in charge,
He leads the way,
but if he's not
Going to make the fire,
I'm going to make it myself.
I don't know what kind of
issue he's having.
It could've been
done earlier.
But someone
didn't want to do it.
Or it's that they couldn't.
Here we go.
Almost again.
When is it going to be yes?
Hey adam?
Woman makes fire.
There goes nothing.
I'm coming.
Please be careful.
That was, like,
a one-deal flame.
It was just instant.
Huh.
Take it. Put it.
Okay.
Gotta get this going.
Oh, thank you, god.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
I'm a total badass.
Now that I did this,
I see that I'm the alpha
And he's the bravo.
I just brought this wood in
and it's just so moist already.
This place is just horrible.
It's a very wet place.
We should just move.
Well, I suppose we could
think about that.
Sam's thinking,
"you know, well,
Maybe we should,
uh, move our shelter."
It's going to make sam
happier and, uh,
Make her time more enjoyable.
Uh, I'm definitely
willing to give it a shot.
Let's build a fire
in the middle
And have a shelter
on one side
And a shelter on the other.
It's great with me.
We devised a new shelter area
and I'm really excited about it.
I think we have out own shelters
across from each other,
They're lean-tos,
and then the fire in the middle.
I just want my own shelter
so I'll feel super comfortable,
Like I'm in my own home
in my own little space.
Adam: as helpful as a shelter
is to keep warm air in,
In reality,
It really only makes
a few degree difference.
What's going to be
a bigger influence,
I think,
on our temperature,
Is how close we can
get to the fire,
And so our shelter layout
is set up so that
We can kind of both get, uh,
kind of wrapped around the fire.
There we go.
Sticks.
Sticks all over here,
All around, circle.
Being able to stretch out
if we want to,
Being able to,
you know,
Move around without
having to play tetris,
Uh, it's --
it's really nice.
Sam: I made that,
all on my own.
We have boiling water
and we're going to go to sleep.
Adam: things worked out well
last night
As far as the shelter goes.
It was a good move.
Sam: I felt so much better,
um, more space,
And the fire kept us warm,
but today,
I really need to
get some food in my belly.
You all right?
Mm-hmm.
Good.
I'm good.
I'm going to take a walk
around a little bit.
My objective right now
Is trying to get
one of these boars.
Okay.
I sensed a little
passive aggressiveness there,
And she kind of acts like
she certainly doesn't need me.
I haven't really fully
decided what day three
Is going to look like for me,
but, um, I think
For the most part,
I'm going to try
And take it easy,
maybe get to a place tomorrow
Where we can be ready
to jump back at it again.
It's a good time for a break.
Sam:
I'm trying to hunt for us
and find something to eat.
What kills me is adam didn't
even think about coming with me.
These things are
*bleep* dangerous.
I mean, I don't care.
But it's just telling me that,
You know,
am I going to be the hunter,
You're going to be the gatherer?
Are we going to switch roles?
He's back at home.
He's the housewife.
That's fresh poop.
That's fresh.
It smells like hogs
right over here really bad,
Like super close to us.
They must've been
hanging out here.
They're up in the top field.
They're up in the top field.
They're over here.
Oh, god.
All of a sudden,
I hear patter, patter, patter.
And that's their little
hooves running off,
So they were pretty fast
so I didn't get to get to them.
Every animal out here is messing
with my mentality today.
They know I'm hungry.
After all that
scouting yesterday,
Kind of wore myself thin.
Hopefully get some
sustenance in me.
I've been lightheaded
and dizzy all day.
My metabolism's really fast,
so I need my food.
It'd be awesome to try
and hunt a deer,
But I really don't want to
exert all this energy.
Oh, grasshopper.
Caught 'im.
I'm sorry, buddy.
He's protein.
Narrator:
the protective shell of
a grasshopper is made of chitin,
A protein that if consumed raw
Can trigger allergic reactions
ranging from mild to severe.
I ate a rare grasshopper.
I should bring one back
and see if he'll eat it.
You'll eat a grasshopper,
my son.
I brought you
something to try.
What is this?
Don't let him bounce.
It's a grasshopper.
I'm sorry.
You know they have parasites
unless you cook 'em, right?
You can eat them raw.
All right.
I think I'm having an allergic
reaction to your cricket.
Really?
Does it look swollen?
I've already got,
like, bumps.
We'll get the medic.
I can feel my lip swelling
from the cricket
And the back of my throat
is swollen right now.
Feeling a little dizzy.
Oh, *bleep*.
Don't do anything,
just lay down.
I ate a grasshopper.
My lips started swelling up.
Yeah?
The back of my throat
was swelling up.
Okay. Aah.
Aah.
Medic: nothing too serious.
It's just
a local allergic reaction.
I think it's mostly,
you know, cosmetic and,
Uh, now just feeling stupid.
I'm not doing that again.
I hate when
the sun goes away.
The weakness is kind of
hitting me really hard in,
Like, spurts during the day.
I've watched the sunset
a couple times,
Just try and do something
to make me feel a little better.
I like to sit there
and think and thank god
For what I have and my family,
So I mean,
it's an emotional time for me,
And that's why I like it.
It lets me just release
a lot of emotions.
Adam: I miss my wife a lot.
I don't think I've
been away from her
This long without talking.
I want to do something
that I'm proud of,
I want to do something
that my wife's proud of,
And so I really want to
finish the challenge.
Is everything okay?
I hate that I'm weak now
and, like, dizzy and faint.
But I can't help it.
I'm trying to
be strong here.
If I was eating, you know,
My nutrition was up,
I'd be keeping up, you know.
Like, I would.
Yeah.
I have no doubt.
I want us both
to get through and...
Yeah.
But don't overdo it,
And I don't want you
to feel bad about that.
I know sam really wants to
complete this challenge with me
And I'm going to do everything
I can to make sure that happens.
I want you to feel free
to take it easy.
Sam: it's day nine
and I need to eat something.
I just will feel better
and more energetic...
Sure.
If I eat something.
Something needs to die.
Okay.
Sam:
I am feeling weak today.
I think it's just
The nutritional deficiency
I'm experiencing.
Adam: sam doesn't ask
for my help at all
But to be the kindest
people we can,
We don't really wait
for people to ask.
Hopefully I can find
some food for her today.
I hunted around today
for hazelnuts.
I'm trying to find
a source of protein for sam,
And yeah, they're, uh,
they're hard to come by.
But looks like that's what,
uh, birds and animals
And things like that are --
are eating a lot of.
As a result, you know,
It gave me the idea to,
uh, make a deadfall,
And hopefully that'll catch us
a mouse or, you know,
Some kind of
small rodent, uh,
Something to --
something to eat.
The simplest trap like this,
That I know of,
is a figure four.
What we need is, uh,
basically a screwdriver bit...
Oh, yeah.
And that this
is going to hinge on.
So I'm going to
go ahead and...
All right, so that's your
main piece there.
Mm-hmm.
And that'll go in the ground.
We'll cover the ends in,
like, charcoal
To get our scent off of 'em,
and, uh, there we go.
Sam: he's really knowledgeable
and I --
I think we can luck out
and have some protein,
So I'm very thankful.
Adam: the goal, really, is that
by the end of this thing,
To be able to catch at least
some protein every day.
Yeah, this trap was triggered,
so we'll see.
Nada, but the bait's gone.
I figure it's, you know,
going to take a few days
Before this thing
actually works, if at all.
I've been trying
to eat berries
To make me feel
a little stronger,
But it's really not working.
I kind of need protein.
These aren't completely ripe,
But you can boil 'em
and eat 'em
And it'll take that tart away,
So at least I know
that that's there.
Really, I'm looking --
I wanted to see where
there's some hazelnut.
But I haven't seen
any on the trees.
Oh, my gosh.
Adam, look.
What is that?
Oh, *bleep*.
I can't tell if
it's dead or alive.
Oh, my gosh.
What is that?
Oh, *bleep*.
It's a big-a*s bird.
I can't tell if
it's dead or alive.
Looks like an owl.
Oh, no.
It's dead.
It's dead?
Yeah.
Adam: I'm immediately worried
About how it died,
'cause healthy things
Don't usually
just drop out of the sky.
Is there anything
wrong with it?
I'd still eat it.
I don't care.
You don't care?
No. I mean, you could...
If you don't want to eat it,
I'll eat it.
You cook it and...
Sure, no, I --
I don't disagree.
Just trying to figure out
what k*lled it.
My guess is it died last night,
uh, maybe just from the cold.
Well, it's food.
Right.
We're having chicken tonight.
My concerns? None.
If you cook it
to completely cooked,
I mean, even if it was
poisonous snake that bit it,
Any bacteria or
anything in there,
It's just like boiling water.
You're going to
cook it out, so...
I'll cook the little bird
and eat it.
I don't care.
Do we need a stick for that?
Sure.
Let me go find one.
He's ready.
I'm just going to throw him
Over here for now
while he finds a stick.
Thank you. Cheers.
This might be
the best bird of my life.
I think it tastes more like
turkey than it does chicken.
Sam:
it made us really happy
because there's food
And it did do a little
eye-opener for me,
You know, just to realize
why I'm out there,
And there's a reason
why that little owl
Was laying there for us to eat,
so I thank god
And I thank
mother nature for that.
Adam:
sam's feeling a little dizzy.
It's to be expected.
The owl was not enough.
I'd hate to see her get
real bummed out
And quit the challenge,
'cause I know she can make it,
So right now,
I'm working on a fish trap.
I just want to
get this thing done.
And, um, you know,
Hopefully that'll make her
feel a lot better.
This model is just
designed to do fish.
My next model will
hopefully be a prototype
That will also
do my laundry for me.
Sam: adam's fish basket
is turning out awesome.
There we go.
He's working hard.
He's bringing the strength
and he's doing good.
Adam: we checked the fish trap
a couple times today to no luck.
You know, it may just take 'em
a while to get used to it,
May take a while to work.
You never know.
Ha.
Did I hear fish?
I'll be damned.
There's a fish in there.
Hey, little guy.
But we'll have some protein.
Yup.
Huh. A trout.
At least
it's some protein.
It does boost my morale.
Maybe we'll catch more
so we can have singles.
Sam:
do we need to go get water?
Absolutely.
All right.
Yeah.
Sam: this fish is small,
But it's just what
I need right now.
Adam:
it's probably not the first
thing on a restaurant menu,
But, uh, I just want to boil
the fish to make sure
That we get all
the calories we can
And make sure
we're not risking,
You know,
losing any pieces of it.
Curious to the taste
of this.
Good.
That's more than
a little good.
Hmm.
I feel a little better.
Yeah?
Yeah.
Hopefully we get some more.
Mm-hmm.
Be awesome.
Adam: out here, it's easy
to second-guess yourself
And doubt the skills
that you have,
So seeing the trap worked
is a nice re-affirmation
Of my ability
to do this out here,
And yeah, it feels --
feels great.
Sam: it's kind of crappy.
I just didn't want rain
the last couple days.
I just wanted to
finish it out nice.
This isn't going to be
sustainable for long.
I wasn't ready
for this kind of rain.
This ground is so cold.
Horrible.
I can't keep warm.
I really don't like
the rain right now.
It's going to add more
to me being cold
And more potential risk
of hypothermia.
I'm so cold.
I can't take it.
Hi, can I see a medic?
I really don't feel well.
Okay, sam, hold tight.
We'll send a medic
over right away.
Narrator:
exposure to wind and rain
Is making the current
temperature of 50 degrees
Feel like a freezing 32 degrees.
The medic evaluates sam.
He's concerned about her rapidly
decreasing body temperature.
Medic: she's not critical, but
she doesn't look okay, I think.
Sam: I don't want to go.
I'm not leaving.
Narrator:
the medic insists that she take
an emergency blanket.
Sunrise is six hours away
And temperatures are forecast
to drop even further.
Sam: it's 3:00 a.m.
And it keeps raining.
I want to go home.
I hate this.
Adam, the fire's going out.
Do we have wood?
Adam:
dude, this stuff is so wet.
Even the dry stuff got wet.
Adam: morning, sam.
Rough night, huh?
Sam?
Sam, you okay?
I can't feel my stomach.
Sam, you --
you've gotta call the medic.
I can't open my hand.
Hold up, I'm --
I'm coming.
Narrator:
sam is barely conscious
And deep into
stage two hypothermia.
She is disoriented and unable
to feel her extremities.
Medics have to act quickly
before her organs start to fail.
Medic: samantha.
Hey.
I keep wanting to throw up.
I can't...
You can --
I'm cold.
I'm numb.
I can't feel my stomach.
I can't feel anything
below my shoulders.
You're burning up.
I'm going to touch your feet.
Do you feel this?
No.
You don't feel anything?
I don't feel anything.
Give me your index finger.
Okay.
Hand.
I'm so cold.
It's not good.
Narrator: 18 days ago,
Adam and sam entered
the velebit mountains
With primitive survival ratings
of 6.0 and 6.8.
Sam embraced a leadership
role early on,
But she pushed her body
to the limits,
And now her refusal
to tap out has
Put her in
a life-or-death situation.
It's not good.
Initially overwhelmed with
the magnitude of the challenge,
Adam has proved himself to be
a worthy partner.
He must now survive
the unrelenting storm
For three more days
before extraction.
Their psrs will be re-evaluated
at the end of the challenge.
Narrator:
after another freezing night,
Sam's core temperature
is dangerously low
And her heartbeat is erratic.
Medics must
stabilize her quickly
Before she slips into
stage three hypothermia,
Which is frequently fatal.
Medic: sam, can you hear me?
You're not okay.
You're not able to continue.
Who will carry her?
I have to call the ambulance.
Adam: I'll take it.
My partner's dealing
with something.
I'm doing the best I can
to help her out.
All right,
here we go.
Keep going.
You're going to be a-okay.
I'm so cold.
Adam: we are almost there,
And they're going to have you
taken care of, okay?
Okay.
They're going to
have you a-okay.
There we go.
I don't really know what to say.
Obviously sam's on
her way to the hospital and...
Kind of makes all this
seem pretty trivial
Compared to, you know,
what she's doing, so...
Medic: she was hypothermic,
hypoglycemic,
But on the field,
we cannot know for sure
Whether she has
electrolyte disbalance,
Which can cause
heart arrhythmias,
Leading to heart arrest.
Adam: without fire,
I mean, there's just no way.
It's getting colder and colder.
But, um, keep giving it
my best shot.
I think I've got
a little more in me,
And, um,
we'll see what happens.
I don't have what it takes
to do this.
It's like it seems dry.
Moisture's so high in the air.
And it's not really dry.
That's part of the problem.
I just don't know
what else to do.
Adam:
everyone wants to think that,
like, no matter what they face,
You know, that they're going to
overcome it or whatever.
It's sad,
but it's just not true.
You know, there's lots of
*bleep* that kicks our a*s.
Today she started
raining harder.
Now the wind has
picked up pretty strong
And the windchill
is fricking freezing.
So I'm just hanging out
in my wet shelter being all wet,
And, uh, yeah.
Hopefully it stops raining
at some point.
Narrator: with sam's fate
still hanging in the balance
And the worst of the storm
yet to come,
Adam's health becomes
a grave concern.
Again, the medic is
forced to step in.
Look, it's rain.
And it doesn't look like
it's going to stop.
And without the fire,
You have no chance
of surviving the night.
Sorry, but you cannot
continue on.
He's already in
stage one hypothermia.
The night will fall,
temperature will drop,
So the risk is too high.
Can't let you go.
All right.
Definitely wished
I could've finished,
And I was really bummed
to not have what it takes
To do this, you know,
one more night, so...
Samantha: sucks that I'm not
going to make it 21,
But I made 18.
That's 18 more than
a lot of people I know.
The fact that I'm, you know,
four kids, a mom,
And I still can
be here that long.
My kids will see,
you know, mom did it.
My body couldn't
handle the last part.
I was really looking forward
to high fiving adam
And saying we did it.
I thank you for being there
and watching out for me.
I really appreciate it.
I'm glad that
you're my partner.
God bless you and your wife.
You know, just getting
to meet, uh, sam,
And she's a delightful person,
And, uh, really glad
I got to do this with her,
But I've never been
this cold in my life.
Narrator: lasting 18 days
in the velebit mountains
On a diet of berries
and small amounts of protein,
Sam lost a total of 13 pounds.
Sam took charge early on,
Breaking gender roles
in order to survive.
But the brutal mountain chill
pushed her body to the limit.
With just three days left,
severe hypothermia set in,
Forcing her to be
medically evacuated.
Sam's psr started at 6.8
and drops slightly to 6.7.
Adam lost a total of 18 pounds.
After relying on his partner
For the beginning
of the challenge,
He eventually stepped up
by providing for sam
During her weakest moments.
But with a merciless storm
bearing down,
Adam too became hypothermic
And ultimately suffered
the same fate as his partner.
As a result, adam's psr
will go from 6.0 to 5.7.
The survivalists walked in with
hopes of conquering a mountain,
But ended up being
left out in the cold,
Naked and afraid.
Yo!
What're you doing here?
It's still raining
and our fire went out.
I don't know,
I think we did good.
Yup.
I was just surprised
you carried me.
I was worried about you.
You know, it really
meant a lot to me.
It really did.
And I really think
if my husband,
When he knows
that you did that for me,
He's really
going to be happy.
And really -- I really --
I'm really happy
that you were my partner.
I'm glad you were
my partner too.
Heck yeah.
