Under these conditions,

a couple weeks to a month

In a survival situation,
you drink the water you have

type of stuff later.
But we still need fire

of the biggest deterrents
To big animals.
There's the leopard.

They don't know
we're right there...

Chad: I've been a vegetarian
for the last six years.
But out here,
in a survival situation,

It was super-cold.
So I think today,
we're gonna work on fire again.
Chad: my partner needs
To have some warmth
during the night.
She doesn't do too well
during the cold.
I'm gonna do my best today
to make the fire happen.
Friction fire is something
where you need to be,
Like, in harmony and balanced.
And then that doubt is
manifesting into the coal.
So, I'm just gonna
do it by myself.
Asking for whatever
I'm doing wrong to be corrected.

Changing spindles,

Changing methods.
We've done a hand drill,

a little spring-trap

Because of the smell,
it's better the natural fibers

that we were given.

Asked him one time
to stoke the fire, one time!

gives me angry-face.
Angela: the axe,
everything's in there.

Because I had to keep
the fire going,
I put some branches on it.
Caught the top on fire,
and that was that.
And just like that,
we're moving.
Do you know what?
I am going to start
my extraction today.
This way, I can get at least
the first half done,
And then do the rest
of the way tomorrow.
If I can get some of these
embers in my pot,
Then I can hopefully
have fire tonight.
Otherwise, I am totally screwed.

Fire's gonna be the death of me,
I swear.
It looks like my extraction
point is that way.
Narrator:
to reach her extraction point,
Angela faces a difficult trek
across four miles of rough,
Rocky terrain
where vicious predators
And venomous snakes
lurk in the brush.
The horned adder attacks
with such ferocity
That its entire body
lifts off the ground.
If she survives the night alone
and without a proper shelter,
Angela faces one last push
to the base of a mountain
Where a final, steep half-mile
climb awaits her.

Finding someplace immediately
is essential.
Oh.
Yeah, look at this.
I have rocks on three sides.
It's protected.
And up here, I have some wood
I can collect.
I can make my fire right here.
This is perfect.
Here we go.

It starts to sprinkle,
and it's starts to rain...
...you know,
to put my fire out.

I made it through last night
through sheer willpower.
I am exhausted.
I am starving, super thirsty.
I'm pretty sure
that's my extraction point.
I'd rather skirt along the edge
right there
Instead of trying
to go through all this.

This extraction walk
is exhausting.
My legs are getting really
tired, but I'm pushing through.
This is my hill.
That is a hell of a climb.
*Bleep* damn.
It seems the closer
I get to the mountain,
The bigger it gets.
Almost there.
Holy *bleep*.

Oh, wow.
Look at that.
Now let's move on,
'cause all it takes is a moment.
Man, this just gets
steeper and steeper.

Whoo!
I did it!
Yes!
Oh, thank god.
That almost makes me wanna cry.
Whoo!
I didn't expect
to be out here alone.
But no matter what happens
in life,
You gotta keep moving forward.
So I'm sorry chad tapped out.
It feels wonderful
to finish what I started.
And to finish this by myself,
that's pretty incredible.
