[Chris] Nerves are
absolutely high right now.
This redemption, I
cannot tell you how much
I have been craving it
for the past three years.
[Danny] Here I am in South
Africa for my redemption.
I really wanna prove
to myself I can do this.
There is no power in
this beautiful continent
that can stop me from
making it to day 21 this time.
[Anthony] Being here now,
I'd be lying if I said the nerves
weren't there a little bit too,
the apprehension.
The minute that these jeans
hit the floor, it's redemption time.
I'm back! I'm back! I'm
back, I'm back, I'm back!
[Anthony] As far as
you can see, it's wild.
It's a little intimidating.
There's zebras!
Welcome to Africa.
[Andrew] I can hear
my mom's voice.
Oh, my God, I can't believe we're
getting naked out there in Africa again.
[Danny] This is Africa
and if you make this a
joke it will take you out.
[narrator] In the remote
region of Limpopo, South Africa,
four survivalists return
to Naked and Afraid
to redeem their past failures.
But this time, they'll begin
the challenge in teams of two
as they fight vicious
terrain, extreme temperatures
and bloodthirsty predators
before joining forces on day 11
for an all-out battle
for redemption.
Here we go.
Whoo-hoo!
Let's get wild!
[Chris] And last but not least.
All right, it's time
to meet my partner.
This environment is super thick.
However, feet still feel good.
Can't complain too much.
This sand is a lot more different
than the last challenge I was on.
Last time, I was in Mexico.
I ended up getting a heat
blister on the insertion height.
That blister pad just tore
off the bottom of that foot.
My feet are just k*lling me.
I was rendered useless
by being unable to put any
pressure down on my left foot...
[exhaling]
This is brutal.
I'm 100% sure
that this is the point
where my journey
ends and I tap out.
...and eventually left the
challenge on day eight.
This time, my foot
prep is a lot better.
I've been walking around barefoot
in the cold winters of Canada
as well as the hot, dry summers
in preparation for
this moment right here.
I've been a fighter
my entire life,
so tapping out on
my last challenge
is something that I
regret immensely.
The only way I'm
coming out of this location
is completing the 21 or
on a medical stretcher.
[narrator] Chris has a
strong primitive skill set,
but another injury could
threaten his second challenge.
Chris begins with a primitive
survival rating, or PSR, of 5.6.
The grass is so tall.
Makes me nervous of snakes
and other creepy
crawlies like ticks.
It was the tiniest of
things, the little bugs,
that took us out last time.
[groans] This tick
bite is k*lling me.
[medic] Your skin
has broken down.
[screams] Ow! Ow!
[screams]
[medic] I think we need
to medically tap you.
[Andrew] After I
did this challenge,
everyone in my life -
friends, family, people I meet -
they always say, "Oh, did you
finish? Did you complete it?"
And every single
time, I have to say no
and I hate that.
So this is my
chance to fix that.
[narrator] Andrew has
experience in South Africa,
But even the smallest threats
could sabotage him yet again.
Andrew sets out
with a PSR of 6.4.
Hey.
Hi.
- You're not a woman.
- No. Neither are you!
- You're a Canadian!
- How are you doing?
- What's going on?
- Good. Chris.
I recognize him. I...
Like, I know this guy
from his challenge.
From what I recall on his
challenge, he's a really nice guy.
- You're out here for redemption.
- I am!
- And I think you are too.
- Me... I am. I am.
Wow, this is nuts.
- This is crazy.
- Yeah.
- I've been in this area before, so this is...
- Have you?
- My last challenge was not too far away...
- [Chris] No?
...so I have a little bit... A little bit
of experience I hope will help us.
That is outstanding
'cause I don't.
I was in the deserts of Northern
Mexico my last challenge.
- [Andrew] Very different. Very different.
- Very different.
But I wanna make sure that
you and I are in that same place.
Like, it doesn't matter,
we're finishing this.
- No more "What ifs", you know?
- I completely agree.
- Hell, yeah. We got this.
- Yeah, absolutely.
Definitely not what
I was expecting.
Never seen a male-male
dual redemption.
This is gonna be one
hell of an experience.
- Okay.
- Boma buddies.
- Yeah!
- Yeah, let's go.
- I think I see our bags up over there.
- Oh, yeah.
- Shall we have a look? Let's go.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, that was kind
of a surprise. I, uh...
I... Just, my brain thought a
woman and it's definitely not.
The good thing about him having
done a challenge before like me...
He's not a newbie who has no
idea how hard this actually gets.
I hope that we can quickly
become brothers out here
and make sure that we
fight it out to the very end.
- Good to get a bag again.
- It is.
[narrator] Each teammate
brought a personal survival item.
Andrew has a bow and arrow set,
while Chris brought
a large knife.
They've also been
given a fire starter
and a pot to purify water.
[Chris] I have the map.
- All right.
- Oh, man.
This is us. Look at this river.
[Chris] That is
a fantastic score
- and if we follow the water...
- Whoa.
- ...we'll be okay.
- Yeah.
[Chris] Lead the way.
You've been here
before. I haven't.
Oh, that's dangerous.
Well, looks like
this is my stop.
Here we go!
Welcome to the savanna.
Here I go getting
naked again. [exhales]
Okay, let's do this.
[Anthony] There's definitely
a lot of thorns in Africa,
that's for sure. Whoo!
[grunts]
Things poking you in all sorts
of places you shouldn't be poked.
I did the challenge,
my first time, in Brazil.
Overworking myself in
such a short period of time
is what led to my
medical tap-out.
[Suzanne] Your back
is directly in the sun.
[Anthony] I had
Suzanne as my partner.
[strains] Yeah, that's
not gonna happen.
That is not gonna happen.
[Anthony] If we'd been
able to work more as a team,
I would've worked less.
- [Anthony groaning]
- [Suzanne] Wow.
[Anthony shrieking]
[medic speaking]
[Anthony] They told me
that I had sweated out
all of the essential
minerals, electrolytes,
and had to take me out.
I learned that if you get a
partner that you can't work with,
that you're not
on the same page,
you're destined to fail.
I'm not a lazy man approach,
so I don't want a partner
that wants to sit down on
their asses and do nothing.
[narrator] Anthony
has a vigorous mindset,
but pushing himself
too hard too fast
could lead to another downfall.
Anthony has been
given a PSR of 5.8.
[Danny] So, my
challenge was brutally cold.
up in the Rocky Mountains.
My partner was
tapped on day two.
And about day eight or nine,
a huge storm front rolled in.
I'm miserable.
When the medic tapped me,
When the medic tapped me,
I was working on
stage two hypothermia.
[medic] This is it. This is the
end of the road for this challenge.
[shouts] I tried so hard!
I do feel like I got a bit robbed of
my opportunity in my last challenge.
I've been putting a lot of
practice into my fire-building skills.
I'm ready to do this challenge
again and I'm not quitting.
[narrator] Danny has gained valuable
experience since his last challenge,
but he has never been tested by
the endless dangers of South Africa.
Danny begins with a PSR of 7.0.
Yoo-hoo!
- How you doing?
- [chuckles]
I'm good. I'm a
little surprised.
How you doing? I'm Danny.
Danny, I'm Anthony.
- Anthony, pleasure to meet you.
- Nice to meet you.
[chuckles] It starts
off odd right away.
Like, [groans].
So, this is the first
time I've been, uh,
really hanging out naked
in front of another guy.
You know, like, what
do you even say?
So, um...
Yeah, um...
Welcome to Africa.
Yeah, no kidding, right?
And, well,
I was expecting a girl.
[Danny] Um, I
ended up with a dude
which, you know... That's great.
Works for me.
I think having a little extra muscle
on the team will be a good thing.
Is this your first time, or...
- No, second challenge.
- Okay, yeah, me too.
I'm here for redemption.
- Yeah, same thing.
- [Danny] Awesome.
- All right, so we got a stake in this. I like it.
- [Anthony] Yeah, absolutely.
I got your back if you got mine.
We'll make sure
we get through this.
Hell, yeah, brother,
let's do this [bleep].
All right, man. Let's
check out the bags.
Yeah, let's see what we've got.
[narrator] For their
personal survival items,
Danny brought along
a primitive fishing kit,
while Anthony has
a half-handled axe.
They have also been given
a fire starter and water pot.
[Anthony] All right,
so, we're about here.
We got a long hike
trek to the water.
So we wanna head west-southwest.
We're gonna have to hustle
'cause we've got a shelter to build
and a lot of firewood to collect
- for these long nights, man.
- [Danny] Oh, yes, we do.
- Let's do this thing.
- All right.
- [Andrew] It's gotten really, really hot.
- [Chris] It has.
[Andrew] The sweat
is starting to pour.
You can tell a lot
times of the year,
- this whole thing's underwater.
- Yeah.
You can actually tell it's the
dry season out here right now.
[Andrew] Yeah.
Is that what I think
it is up over there?
[Andrew] That's some big poop.
Oh, it's... That's still wet.
Just looking at this and the
size and kind of where we are,
I'm thinking this is elephant.
[Andrew] Oh!
Yeah, they k*ll a lot
of people out here,
so we gotta keep
our head on a swivel.
[Andrew] Well, it
makes me wonder...
This river's so dry.
Where are they now?
Probably the same
place we're going.
Yeah. All gonna fight
for the same water.
- Yeah.
- Doh!
[narrator] Chris and Andrew are
trekking three and a half miles north
where the water sources
are populated by hyenas,
spitting cobras and
six-ton elephants
which can crush their
enemies under monstrous feet
or gore them with
piercing tusks.
I'm seeing a lot of rocks.
It is water right there.
[Andrew] That's a lot of water!
Whoo!
This is what we
need for everything.
I don't know
what's in this water,
but it could be crocodile.
But if we go up
just a little bit,
Somewhere where the
water's still accessible.
[Chris] What about right here?
It already has a lot of
real good protection here
with the trees, so...
[Andrew] And thorns.
Good thorns here.
[Chris] And thorns everywhere.
[Andrew] Well,
let's get to work.
- All right.
- Right, here we go.
We're gonna build
a boma out here,
which is basically
just a big corral.
Big walls of thorn trees
'cause a lot of the big
predators, the big cats,
They are very sensitive on
their nose and their whiskers.
They can't push their
faces through that thorn
to eat us.
[Chris] I do not miss the feel of
things with spikes running into my skin.
Nothing like a little blood
to get us ready for all this.
I'm getting the
wild man out of me!
[grunts]
It's coming together real nice.
[Andrew] Home sweet boma.
That sun's brutal.
[Danny] Yeah,
even in the winter.
[Anthony] Yeah,
I'm a pasty Irishman.
Me and the sun are
not necessarily friends.
The sun is what
led to my tap out.
I sweated out all of the minerals
that you have in your body.
Zinc, iron, magnesium. All gone.
That's never gonna happen again.
Man, we've been
walking for a while.
Hopefully, end is near.
[narrator] Danny and
Anthony have been trekking
three and a half miles
south over piercing terrain
to the nearest water source.
The dense bush
hides lions and hippos.
Although both charge at high
speeds and have razor-sharp teeth,
hippos actually k*ll over 20
times more people than lions,
making them the deadliest
large land animal on the planet.
[Anthony] Look at this.
- I think that's our water.
- Whoa!
I love seeing water,
but I know there's also gonna
be a lot of animals coming down
- just as excited as we are, so...
- [Danny] Yeah.
I don't care to hang
out with a hippo.
[Danny] Yeah, we should be
on the downwind side of this pond
where we make
our shelter, I think.
[Anthony] We've got
a clearing right here.
Let's choose this.
This is where I can
see it happening.
We got a natural barrier there.
So we close off the other
side and we'll be all right.
All right, well, let's
get started, man.
- Here we go.
- Cool.
[bleep]
[Anthony] Danny?
I see a snake
headed towards the bush.
Run into a puff adder.
Those are pretty
dangerous snakes.
One of those gets hold of
you and that's end of challenge.
Point your sticks right at it.
You got him. I see his...
Hold on.
You see him? His head's
facing me. It's right here.
Straight down.
All right, I'm gonna cut
back behind the gland.
[Anthony grunting]
Straight down.
All right, I'm gonna cut
back behind the gland.
I got him.
[Anthony grunting]
Here we go.
[exhales]
He's a small one,
but we got something.
Yeah.
It's not much, but here you go.
It's beautiful.
Yeah.
[Danny] You're nice and stinky.
Catfish love that stuff.
[Anthony] It's our best chances
of getting something big.
If I can triple my meat
just by using it as fish bait,
that's the route I'm gonna do.
[Anthony] Okay.
We've gotta get a shelter built.
Daylight's going fast.
Two, one.
[Danny] We're doing it.
[Anthony] Two. Yeah. One.
[Danny] This is a totally different
team experience from my last challenge.
[Anthony] I was
worried that I would get
another partner that
felt like oil in water,
but we're gonna
be able to get along
and, uh, work together.
And that type of
teamwork breeds success.
- [Danny] Whoa!
- Got you.
Well, that's one hell of a door.
[Anthony] Yeah, they're
not getting through that.
All right, let's
get a fire going.
[Danny] I was tapped out for
hypothermia due to the extreme cold.
The nights are long.
Make it cold and that could
be absolutely devastating.
Big fire at night to
keep the animals away,
keep the cold away,
is gonna be key.
Oh, there we go.
There's the magic.
Way to go, Danny.
The king of fire.
We got our boma.
We got our fire.
- We got our water.
- Nice.
Day one, baby.
[Chris] We have fire.
We got water that
we just collected.
We have our boma somewhat set.
Not bad for the first day.
[Andrew] Mmm.
I'd forgotten how
amazing dirt, gritty water is.
- [Andrew retches] - [Chris]
Let's see how gross that is.
- This should be a candle-free house.
- [Chris] Yes.
Mmm, is that... Is
that boiling dirt water?
- [Chris] Is that African sweat water?
- That's my favorite.
- I know, I know. That's why I got it.
- [Chris] Yeah.
[Andrew] I would like for you
to describe to me how that feels.
[spits] It actually
isn't all that bad.
- [Andrew laughing]
- [Chris spitting]
In vineyard talk, it has legs.
[Andrew laughing]
It's really neat that
both Chris and I.
It's really neat that
both Chris and I
are reaching for this
kind of... The same goal,
this 21-day redemption,
'cause we both know what
it feels like to come short.
And so I think that motivates
us to work together and...
I mean, we're just
cutting up, laughing a lot.
And when you have cuts all over
your body and you're bleeding,
that humor is an
incredible survival tool.
Day one always
scares me the most
and it's almost over...
- [Chris] It is.
- ...so that feels good.
I agree. I agree.
- We just gotta keep up this momentum...
- [Andrew] Yeah.
...'cause we know
that, if we don't,
- It goes downhill real quick.
- [Andrew] Yeah.
[hyenas calling]
[Danny] First night's
starting off warm.
Could be worse.
The wind isn't terrible
yet, so all in all...
[hippos grunting]
Very much a live riverbed.
Yeah, thanks for
making that door.
[hyenas calling]
[elephant trumpeting]
We've laid down for two minutes,
- two minutes.
- [elephant trumpets]
This elephant, right,
- 30 yards, probably, that way...
- Yeah.
...started losing their minds.
We're gonna get eaten.
We are gonna get trampled.
- That is what we're looking at...
- On night one.
...on night one.
I think... Buddy, are we
gonna get much sleep?
[Andrew] Um, I don't think so.
You can probably hear that
there's a giant monster right there.
I can't disagree with him.
Day two!
[Chris] We didn't
sleep very much.
However, we also didn't get
trampled by elephants last night,
so that is a huge victory.
We heard them grunting,
we heard them splashing
and we heard them moving about.
They were no more than,
probably, 100 yards from us.
No one gets into this house.
[Chris] Today's goal is we're
gonna reinforce our boma,
add more thorns,
increase the height
to help keep us
safe and protected.
I feel like a home
renovation show.
This is Property Brothers.
Long-gone turtle shell.
Hey, Andrew.
Got some decorations.
Oh, no way! [gasps]
That is rad.
- Got a turtle shell. Long gone.
- Cool!
Makes me feel like, like,
a nine-year-old kid who,
when you're out here and you
find, like, a cool tortoise shell...
And you better believe we're
gonna make a little outfit out of that.
[Anthony] We're gonna need
to see if we can catch some fish.
[Danny] Plus, it might feel
good to get my feet wet.
- Yeah.
- It's warm out today.
I wanna check out this riverbank
and come up with a solid plan.
[Danny] I just saw
three or four fish jump up.
In the last minute alone.
Very encouraging.
Some nice, tasty chunks
of puff adder meat.
Nice and stinky
for them catfish.
Just how they like it.
Here we go.
My last challenge was
drastically different from this one.
The nights were
much, much colder
and there was absolutely
no fishing available there
like there is here, so...
Try out my handline.
Hopefully, catch some fish.
I wanna make sure
that sinks to the bottom.
Catfish are the
bottom-feeders out here.
Drag it back.
[Anthony] I think
I saw a turtle.
So, directly across.
There's a hump out of the water.
That's the only
thing I can think of
that would submerge
looking like a rock.
Maybe we could catch a turtle.
Oh, [bleep].
That's a g*dd*mn hippo.
Oh, [bleep].
So monstrous.
At first, from a distance,
I literally thought that was,
like, an island, like land,
that it was just a big mud pile.
Oh, [bleep]. There's
two [bleep] hippos.
Oh...
[Danny] Maybe the bigger
fish are a little bit further in.
That would make sense.
[Anthony] Once they
go down in the water,
you have no [bleep] clue
where they're at or where
they're gonna come up.
Then one could pop up over here.
I have no idea.
It's that real and it's
right there in front of me.
Oh! Oh, oh, oh!
Danny!
Oh, [bleep]. Oh, [bleep]
There's two [bleep] hippos.
[hippo roars]
Danny!
[Danny] Slime. Look at that.
[Anthony] Danny!
Danny!
[Danny] Is it an emergency?
Um...
Kinda.
I just saw a hippo
go under the water.
You're about to see two hippo.
There's two out here.
There's one. Where'd
the other one go?
[Danny] Yep, there it is.
Those are the kings
of the jungle right there.
I don't wanna go any further
down this creek while they're around.
Yeah.
[Danny] As majestic
creatures as they may be,
it's also very humbling
when you see them
where you collect water.
We are not the
apex predator here.
And we need to
respect their space.
We're strangers here.
I don't feel safe at all.
[Anthony] Let's truck it out of
here before who knows what.
[bleep]
- Just saw [bleep] hippos.
- I know.
[Chris] We need to eat.
Today is fishing,
hunting, protein.
Yeah.
We're three days into
this challenge now.
We're big boys out here.
We need some protein.
I am gonna go check
out the other side.
Definitely have a spot down here
where we've been
hearing all the birds.
Last time, I was a forager.
This time, I hope
to be a hunter.
I brought a bow.
Since my last challenge, I've
been practicing a lot with the bow.
I'm excited to get out here
and use it in a real-life situation
and provide.
- Best of luck to you, man.
- Thank you.
- See you in a little while.
- You bet.
I'm just gonna work
on these bone hooks.
Taken this bone here
and busted off just
that center piece.
I slowly start chiseling away,
making a hook shape.
We need food and
we need food quickly.
And while Andrew
has the bow and arrow,
and that is a great resource
for us to have out here -
if we can secure a big k*ll,
that's gonna be outstanding -
however, primitive fishing
is something that, I think,
is gonna guarantee
Andrew and I success.
[Andrew whispering] I hear
tons of birds off in the distance.
I think the guineafowl are in
this area right... Right here.
Generally, they're in tall grass
and I won't see
'em until they fly.
I think I might try
to go downwind
from a whole
flock of guineafowl,
see if I can get a
shot off of something.
[Andrew panting]
See it over there?
A squirrel.
[groans]
Tiny little target.
Just barely missed him.
Part of this redemption.
Is proving to myself
that I have the skills.
It's a lot of pressure for that
one, tiny, brief, quick moment.
That sucks.
I do not feel safe
being on the edge of that water
dealing with my fishing kit,
knowing that there's hippos.
And just a little extra.
We're gonna design a trotline
which is basically
a fishing line
suspended by two wooden posts
that have hooks
hanging down from them.
This way, we can,
hopefully, catch some game
while keeping
myself safe out here
'cause one little catfish
ain't worth dying for.
We got three hooks.
We've got three pieces of bait.
Catfish go after
that crappy snake.
Rotten meat,
right up their alley.
Yeah.
I don't think there's
anything in this world.
That's gonna get the
smell out of our hands.
[Anthony] Yep.
[Danny] I will grab
the outermost hook.
All right, and I got the pole.
Leave everything else there.
Great.
[Anthony] Avoid the hippo track.
[water splashes]
Danny.
Something just
went under right there
and enough to cause a pop-out,
that ripple effect,
so... Was it a fish?
Was it a fish?
I couldn't see if it
was a fish landing
or something ducking.
It is dangerous.
I get that's their home,
but we're gonna have to invade
you're home for just a little bit
'cause we need to
eat, we need fish.
Go ahead. Give it a
toss as far out as we can.
- Oh, yeah!
- [Anthony] Okay. I'm gonna tie it off.
[Danny] Okay, yeah,
that'll be perfect.
[Anthony] When the
catfish does come,
it can't pull this
pole into the water.
[Danny] All right. Secured it
onto this bundle of papyrus.
Mission accomplished.
[Anthony] Oh, yeah.
Come on, fishies.
Some delicious smelly snake.
It's what all the cool
catfish are eating.
Okay, fingers crossed.
[hooting]
Last challenge,
this was about the
time that I was, uh,
this was about the time
that I was, uh, on my back
and they were pulling
me off the beach,
which, I know, isn't
an achievement.
It's not... Shouldn't be a big
thing to say, "Hey, I did better,".
But that's already a
victory, a personal victory.
[Danny] We have three pieces
of snakes on the line out there.
If we get some fish on our line,
it'll be a big game
changer here.
I don't wanna see
either one of us gas out.
Over-exertion, for me,
was an issue the first time.
So we'll just make
sure we've got firewood
and check the trap each
time we go down to get water.
No big worky stuff.
Day four morning.
Taking out cold, damp
asses down to the trotline.
Hopefully, catfish is
what's for breakfast.
[sighs]
Starting to get a
little chillier, yeah?
No sun.
Would make me really happy if
something was already on that line.
[Danny] Not what
I was hoping for.
We'll leave you alone if you
leave us alone. How about that?
Sound fair?
I'll take that as
a yes. [chuckles]
[Danny] Let's hope so.
[Anthony] Nothing there.
[Danny] Nope.
It's all gone.
[bleep]
Oh, even...
Even better, they
stole one of our hooks.
[Anthony] There's
a lot of fish in here.
Gotta find where to get 'em.
We're [bleep] out of luck
until we can find another
snake or more bait.
Um, catfish, they like stinky
things. They like rotten meat.
You can't just
slap a worm on that
and that really work for you.
So yeah.
[Chris] I'm gonna go with
some fishing this morning.
And for that to work,
we need to make some
fishing lines for the bone hook.
There's a line.
It's gonna wrap around here,
very similar to a snelled hook,
and then run all the
way up to the line.
There we go.
Find a nice
fishing pole for that.
That's gonna be
my quick fishing pole.
Just gotta bait it,
throw it in the water.
Nice and easy.
Termite mound.
It's a perfect opportunity
to try and find bait.
[bleep]
This is a spitting cobra.
It'll actually spit
venom right on me.
Not only will it create
lesions on the skin,
but could actually
cause me to go blind.
And I have to be very,
very careful with it.
Oh, I want that snake.
This is one of those
risk versus reward.
There's a lot of risk in this.
But redemption is something
that has to be earned.
[snake hissing]
[bleep] We're spitting venom.
Come on.
[roars] Yeah!
That cobra tried spitting at me.
The Canadian struck back first.
We have food, baby!
This is huge.
We actually have food for
the first time in this challenge.
This is an absolute
game changer for us.
No way!
[Chris] We got 'em, baby.
Oh, my God, it's huge!
[Chris] We got 'em!
- Oh, my gosh.
- Got in there and started swinging.
Yes!
That's a big old meal.
That's a big meal, baby.
I needed that so much.
Boom!
Man, you're my dude.
- You're my guy.
- You're my dude!
We've both been working hard,
but we've been coming up
with zeros as far as food goes.
This feels like we finally
put one on the board.
Something in our
belly and it's just...
I remember last time,
my last challenge,
how quickly that
brings your spirits back.
Snake is done.
[Chris] Beauty.
- Cheers.
- Cheers.
- First meal here.
- Yes!
[Chris] So good.
[Andrew] It's kinda
like bland chicken.
You just pull the little,
teeny strips of meat
through the tiny little ribs.
And it's pure protein.
Crazy, it's one of the most, like,
dangerous snakes in the world, too.
Uh-huh.
Ain't no match
for the boma bros.
No.
[Anthony] Um, food's
been our one hold-back.
The hunger level is
passed the hunger level.
Really need a victory right now.
[Danny] I am
scouting for resources,
[Danny] I am scouting for
resources, any resources.
Exploring new areas,
making sure that
there's no stone unturned.
My main fear is that we're
not gonna have the right bait
to attract the catfish to it.
The snake worked great.
The snake attracts
them very quickly.
They snatch it
right off the line.
But finding more snakes
is the troublesome part.
There's bound to be some
good stuff here somewhere.
[Chris] I'm losing weight.
We've eaten a
snake in seven days.
So, those are the guts
right out of that cobra.
I'm gonna attach
those to my fishing line.
I don't know about
you, but if I was a catfish,
I would think that
looked pretty good.
Bait's in and floating.
Let's see if we can
turn one meal into two.
[Andrew] Set up shop
behind these little reeds.
I'm always a team player.
So, like, I wanna make
sure that I'm giving my all
and that I provide for my
best boma buddy Chris.
He brought home that snake.
Now it's my turn to get
a k*ll to get some protein.
Man.
[Danny] Oh, my God.
We are so close to these hippos.
[Anthony] Yeah.
It's a little bit of a fright,
a little bit of a worry.
We can't find any snakes,
lizards, or things to use for bait.
I recommend,
our last-ditch effort,
We just use some
animal droppings.
Something fresh,
something stinky.
[Anthony] Catfish
are crapfish, so...
All right, we'll give
that a shot and see.
Fairly fresh. Still
moist enough.
It's moist to the
touch on the inside.
[Danny] Yeah.
I don't have a whole
lot of hope for it,
but it's better than nothing.
Bait's out. Now we wait.
[Chris] Day nine.
This is all brand new
so I need you to take my
hand and walk me through it.
- Yeah?
- Yeah.
- I got your back, dude, no matter what.
- [Chris] I know you do.
I got your back.
It doesn't get
easier, that's for sure.
[Chris] I've seen what
day eight can bring,
but I've never seen what
day nine, 10, 12 brings.
Because I tapped out on my
last challenge on day eight.
This is all brand new
and it is all
incredibly exciting.
However, the snake provided
a little bit of protein in our diet.
We need to secure food
on a more regular
basis to survive.
[bird screeching]
Do you hear that?
When you hear birds go
crazy, you just gotta be ready.
[groans]
Figures.
- [Chris] Well...
- [groans]
[Chris] ...there's
always tomorrow, buddy.
[Andrew] Yeah, always tomorrow.
That's what they tell losers.
You're not a loser at all, man.
There's always gonna be
another opportunity for you.
And here I am
with a partner that...
I couldn't have
asked for anyone else.
We just gotta keep
fighting through, man.
[Andrew] Yeah. Yeah, definitely.
Aw, I love you, dude.
[Chris] Love you, buddy.
- We'll get food.
- Yeah.
That's true.
The hunting's not going so good.
So I'm, uh,
Disheartened, uh, let down.
[tearfully] That's
what I feel right now.
[Anthony] It's
been a hell of a day.
But one more
line-check just in case.
[Danny] I don't
see any movement.
[Anthony] I don't
see movement either.
[Danny] Food is priority.
At this point, I'm pretty spent.
I'm just fatigued
in everything I do.
Unfortunately, it's
mentally and emotionally putting
me back in my last challenge.
Looks like it's slacked.
Yeah.
- [Anthony] Nothing?
- Wait, wait! Holy [bleep]!
Holy [bleep]!
Looks like it's slacked.
- [Anthony] Nothing?
- Yeah.
Wait, wait! Holy [bleep]!
Holy [bleep]!
We got one!
We got a catfish.
Whoo!
[grunts] Check this out.
Oh, hell, yeah.
Wow!
Oh, my God, we can finally eat.
We can finally have a meal.
All this effort was
finally for something.
- Nice.
- Yes!
[Anthony] We get this much
protein and the fats in this...
- [Danny] Oh, yeah.
- [Anthony] ...we'll be feeling good.
[Danny] Thank you, Africa.
Fish head stew tonight!
Mmm!
Tasty morsel.
Catfish is on the menu.
Oh!
Look at that.
Well-marbled.
Perfectly cured.
Mmm. Delicate.
Full of flavor.
Essence of hippo.
[Anthony] I've eaten catfish.
I've eaten a lot of catfish.
But I don't think I've ever
eaten fish that tasted this good.
[Danny] This moment
couldn't get any better.
Mmm-hmm.
All right, bud, so I'm thinking
I'm gonna go pull lines.
All right, bud, so I'm thinking
I'm gonna go pull lines
and get those packed
up, ready to go.
[Andrew] Sounds good to me.
Do your thing, come
back, we'll figure it out.
- [Chris] Yeah. That's all we can do.
- See you.
[Chris] Hopefully,
we'll maybe have a fish.
Day 10. That's a little
milestone, I guess.
I'm excited for any
milestone we can get out here.
I definitely feel beat down.
My energy level's, like, so low.
I'm just kinda like [groans].
But I know I gotta
keep fighting.
[Chris] Andrew is absolutely
feeling the effects of being hungry.
Looks tired. He looks run-down.
I'm really starting
to worry about him.
Keeping Andrew in
the game is paramount.
I've been down that
path of losing a partner.
I do not wanna go
down that path again.
Andrew and I started
this challenge together
and I really wanna finish this
challenge together with him.
I'm gonna take
out my fishing line
and, hopefully, we'll
maybe have a fish.
Nothing there.
But the hook's
there. Bait's gone.
Just so excited to see what the
next chapter holds after merge.
Tomorrow, we march.
[Danny] Let's do this.
Merge day! [howls]
[Anthony] Merge day!
Merge day! Merge day!
Party time! Excellent!
[sings guitar tune]
Anthony, I'm not gonna
miss this place at all.
No, I'm ready to
collect everything,
- put this behind us.
- [Danny] Yep.
[Anthony] Day 11.
We are literally at
the halfway point.
[Danny] Now that we've
been able to secure fish,
we've got some momentum.
I've had that... That victory,
um, and felt real
food in my stomach.
That gives me so
much encouragement
and confidence
that we can do this.
We're ready for the
merge, so bring it on.
[Anthony] We'll see
who we meet up with.
Uh, maybe two girls.
And maybe they used to be
on the Swedish bikini team.
It would make it more enjoyable.
We're here, so we gotta
move down that riverbed.
Until we see what looks
like a big-a*s termite mound.
[Danny] Yeah.
- Goodbye.
- Goodbye, boma.
[Chris] What we're essentially
doing with this merge
is starting over
from day one again.
We're dehydrated,
we're tired, we're sore.
We don't have any
food in our tummies.
This is gonna be a far
more daunting task on 11
than it is on one.
[Andrew] This is us.
- Get back to the riverbed.
- Yeah.
And then follow the river.
[Chris] That makes sense to me.
[narrator] To reach
their merge point,
the survivalists
will have to travel
two miles from their
respective camps
over a scorched
landscape inhabited by lions
and leopards.
They will then hike
another two miles east
to a large pond surrounded
by massive rock formations.
We've done 11 days.
We can do 10, -make it a new location.
- Yeah.
[lions growling]
Entering uncharted territory.
I think I'm gonna probably
actually keep one of these...
[Chris] Probably a good idea.
...in my cradle on the handy.
[Chris] Quite the
k*lling zone in here.
Especially because you
can see a lot of fresh activity.
So watch the trees for leopards.
That sun has the
potential to kick our a*s
before this is done.
This is a decent hike.
I've got to just pace myself.
As much as I have
this attack attitude,
due to the last challenge,
I'm not gonna do that.
Redemption is
not in the bag yet.
Danny, how you feeling, brother?
- Starving.
- But good.
So we soldier on.
Try and keep my
breathing regular and not...
- get out of breath.
- Yeah.
[Andrew] I definitely battled
weakness and dehydration.
I'm definitely
feeling the effects
of that malnutrition.
Body just kinda wearing down.
Hang on. Pause.
Doing okay?
[Andrew] I'm starting
to pass out. I'm sorry.
Oh, I hate this feeling.
It's the worst
feeling in the world.
Hang on. Pause.
Doing okay?
[Andrew] I'm starting
to pass out. I'm sorry.
It's a marathon, not a sprint.
[Andrew] Oh, I
hate this feeling.
It's the worst
feeling in the world.
[Chris] Slow and steady,
buddy. Slow and steady.
That's right. It's my
body and I'll protect it.
I'm ready whenever you are.
Let's ride. We're good.
[Andrew] We're pushing on.
I'm a little light-headed,
so Chris right now has my
six, making sure that I'm okay.
We're hoping this
isn't much further.
We have very little left
in the tank right now.
[Danny gasps]
[Anthony] I think I see
a big termite mound.
Oh, yeah.
- This must be our termite mound.
- Yup.
[Danny] Yoo-hoo!
[Anthony] Here, naked people!
[chuckles]
Hello, hello.
- Hello! Greetings.
- Oh, Lord.
What's going on, guys?
How you doing? Chris.
- I'm Danny.
- Good to meet you.
- Pleasure to meet you, Chris.
- I'm Andrew.
- Andrew?
- What's up?
- Good to meet you.
- Chris.
- Chris? Anthony.
- Anthony, good to meet you.
- Hey. Andrew.
- Andrew.
- Anthony. Nice to meet you.
- Nice to meet you.
So, we're here for redemption.
What about you guys?
[Anthony] Yeah. Same thing.
This is a redemption party.
- This is a redemption party.
- We're on that, bro.
Let's say it's a
redemption sausage party.
- Yeah. [laughs]
- Holy cow.
This is a first,
y'all. This is a first.
- [Anthony] I think so.
- Yeah.
All dudes.
Surprise, surprise.
It's a sausage fest.
Maybe a little extra muscle
will be great for getting
the boma started.
We'll see how it goes.
But feel like this
will work out great.
I'm really excited to see a bow.
Heck yeah. This
is everybody's bow,
- we all use it.
- Fantastic.
How's your all's
first 11 days been?
Uh, hasn't been bad. Um...
- We caught some fish, we caught some...
- Yeah.
Danny brought some
fishing line and stuff,
so we were able to
actually hand-fish out there.
That's awesome, that's awesome.
[Anthony] This psychopath
caught a Mozambique...
[both] Spitting cobra.
- Oh, nice.
- Yeah, yeah.
- The spitters?
- The spitters, yeah.
- It was terrifying.
- I'm with you, man.
That's impressive.
All right, how
about we figure out
where the hell we're going?
This is the next chapter, boys.
The next chapter.
[Anthony] We're halfway
home, man. We're halfway home.
Uh, and we gotta
continue up-river.
Uh, anybody got suggestions
for the quickest path?
We wanna try and
make a straight line
or just follow the river?
[Chris] We don't know
how deep that water runs,
if we try and cross it.
- Because of hippos.
- [Andrew] Yeah.
All right. Keep on
pushing forward.
- It's all we can do.
- I'm down with that.
- Here we go.
- Let's go, boys.
- I'll follow you.
- Let's get to it.
- All boys pride, let's go.
- Lead the way.
- Ow!
- [laughs]
[narrator] From the merge point,
the newly-formed team
will hike two miles east,
reaching areas
with higher elevation
that will cause
cooler temperatures,
until they reach a large pond.
As the area's only water source,
it attracts the deadliest
predators of the region,
including leopards,
lions, and spotted hyena,
which have the strongest
bite of any mammal,
allowing them to easily
crush the bones of their prey.
[hyenas growling]
Chris and I get on, like,
thick as thieves already.
I don't know what your all's
relationship has been like, but...
Oh, he annoys the
[bleep] out of me.
- [Danny] Yeah, I do.
- [laughs]
[Anthony] No, we, um...
We've gotten along great too,
and I think the more we
can all work together... Yeah?
...um, the easier we make this.
- The better we make this.
- Yeah.
Anthony and Danny
are fantastic guys.
We share a lot of the same ideas
when it comes to survival.
We're all pulling in
the same direction.
This is gonna be awesome.
[warthogs snorting]
[Anthony] Mom, are we there yet?
Mama! [laughs]
Andrew's outpacing us.
I'm just eager to get
there before I pass out.
I've been struggling
today on this hike.
But once I get there
and get some rest
and can lay down
for a few minutes,
yeah, I usually will
bounce right back.
[Anthony] For sure.
[Danny] We're,
like, walking into,
like, a completely different
environment right now.
Whoa, baby.
This is a beautiful sight.
[Chris] What have we got?
[Andrew] Water.
[Chris] Oh, wow.
Oh, yeah.
- [Anthony] Ow!
- [Chris] That is beautiful.
[Anthony] Look at that.
Oh, this is gorgeous.
Oh, yeah.
We can make this work.
[Chris] Oh, yeah.
I'm digging these
rock formations.
[both] Yeah.
[Andrew] I'm thinking this
spot up here with the view.
Ooh, yeah.
[Andrew] Rock background
for heat and wind block.
[Chris] Altogether I'm
pretty happy with this spot.
[Anthony] Yeah.
Holy crap, you guys.
- We got a double water view.
- Gorgeous.
- Yeah.
- Where you been all my life?
[Chris] There's a lot of
work still ahead of us.
We're gonna need a bigger boma,
which means more
heat loss. More fire.
But we're also gonna
have a lot of hands
pulling in the same direction.
I think it's gonna be
really, really good.
[exhales]
Hey, just quick...
My pulse is low.
Blacking out, losing vision.
Oh, that's not good. That's
what happened to me.
- So you stay with us.
- [Andrew] Yeah.
Yeah, so thank you
for your patience.
I'm kind of emotional,
because I don't like y'all
working, and not working.
But just give me a
minute, I'mma bounce back.
- [Anthony] We got you, we got you.
- Okay.
Everybody might
need one of those days.
Take your time, dude.
Do what you need to do.
We're getting through this.
Five minutes till
the water's boiled,
then we'll have a
drink for you, bud.
I love it. Thank you.
I'mma bounce back.
I'll be right back, guys.
[Anthony] I know. We
believe in you, brother.
Yeah, it's a bit worrisome.
Blurred vision and dizziness.
Those were also my symptoms,
and the next stage
from that is passing out.
That is what led to
my medical tap-out.
I know once you get there,
you can't just get
up and shake it off.
I hope that's not the case.
It's only right that
he finish this time.
But it's scary.
I'm gonna go check on him.
Yeah, he's gonna need
that moral support right now.
- [Chris] Yeah, exactly, so...
- Yeah.
[Chris] About two hours
into getting to location,
Andrew hits a wall.
He starts feeling lightheaded,
he starts feeling dizzy.
A very, very difficult
moment for me
because Andrew has been
my ride-or-die since day one,
And I'm really starting
to worry about him.
This is gonna be a tough
road to bounce back from,
and I really hope
that he doesn't tap.
[Andrew sobbing]
[sighs]
I'm... I'm fine.
Just frustrated.
I'm just overdramatic by nature.
[chuckles]
[sighs and sniffles]
[exhales sharply]
[Chris] It's a marathon, right?
[Andrew] Yeah.
[Chris] Right there with you.
Okay.
[Anthony] Day 11 done.
Rough day, but a good day.
We got what we needed done.
[Danny] Boma wall, boma
door. Heaps of firewood.
[Anthony] Heat up done.
We are more than
halfway through this thing.
Hard day. Glad this day's over.
So lightheaded, and
just kinda come and go,
but I'm just gonna push
on, hope for the best,
'cause I'm afraid that
it's gonna be mighty cold.
It's tough fitting four big
dudes around one fire
to the point where we can
all stay warm enough all night,
'cause it's freezing
cold out here.
[sighing]
Oh, God.
Oh, it's getting a bit colder.
[Andrew sobs]
It's just miserable
[groans] and I hate it.
I hate it so much.
[sobbing]
[Anthony] Oh, I
[bleep] hate the cold.
Really cold.
Burnt through pretty much
all the rest of our firewood.
Oh [bleep].
[Andrew sobbing]
[Danny] Oh, son of a b*tch.
[Andrew sobbing]
Oh...
[Anthony] Oh, man.
[Andrew] It's just the worst.
It just feels the worst.
[Danny] Nine days,
that's all we gotta do.
Nine days and that's all,
and we are [bleep] out of here!
All right.
Turn the heat on, South Africa.
Hands down, the worst
night we've gone through.
This is about as bad
as it can get, I hope,
'cause if it gets any worse...
I don't know where
you go from there.
[Danny] I know the cold is
one brutal enemy to have.
It can take you out of the game.
It's reminding me a lot of
my experience in Colorado,
and that's something
I'd rather forget.
[Andrew] It's [bleep]
spirit-crushing.
I feel pretty beat down today.
Four big dudes trying
to huddle round one fire.
It's so cold we're
sleeping with the flames
about three inches
from our faces,
and then our other
half behind our back
is freezing cold.
It's like we're sitting
laying on an ice box.
It's the craziest thing to
be that hot and that cold
at the same time.
I'm gonna go fill these pots up.
[Anthony] My big
concern tonight is warmth.
Try to stop that breeze
from coming through
and freezing my back out
- like it did last night.
- Yeah. Mine too.
We can prop some bamboo
up against, like,
this wall, for sure.
Yup.
[Andrew] You know, I
always tell everyone,
"Push, push,
push, till you can't."
My last challenge was
certainly hard as well, but...
I think this challenge has
brought me to that point.
It is kinda like you're
sinking in quicksand.
And I realize that's a
lack of food, water, sleep.
And I feel like I just
sank too far this time.
I just can't climb out.
Hey, boys. [clears throat]
Um, I hope if you'll,
uh... respect my decision,
I'm tapping out.
This challenge kinda
broke me a little bit out here.
There's some things
more important.
That is me and
my body, and, uh...
nothing hurts worse
than saying that out loud.
Uh...
But I'm so sorry.
I'm so sorry for
leaving you guys.
Are you sure?
- You sure we can't support you through this?
- I'm sure.
- We'll be friends forever.
- Forever.
[Andrew sobs]
I'm gonna leave all my supplies.
My bow is yours, of course.
Just k*ll it out here.
[sniffles]
That would make my...
That would make
all of this worth it.
Just see y'all cross
that line and... [sighs]
[Sean] Hi, Andrew. Hi, guys.
Hey. Um, I'm choosing to tap out
[clears throat]
of this challenge.
- Are you sure that's what you wanna do?
- Yes.
Okay, would you
like to say goodbye
- to your fellow contestants?
- Yes, yes. Thank you.
I'm here with you, brother.
[Andrew sighs]
[Andrew sniffles]
All right, thank you,
guys. Be careful.
We will. See you, Andrew.
I feel like... I feel like...
quitting is the worst
thing in the world.
But in this moment,
this is what I have to do.
This story will go on
because I have new friends,
and I'll have memories
to tell from this forever,
and that's a great, great prize
that I get to take home with me.
I pulled out on
day 13 last time.
It's day 12 this time,
so... a day short, but, uh,
you know, numbers are numbers.
To those guys in my
pride, my brothers out there,
hope you feel
my spirit with you.
There's no bigger cheerleader
in the whole world than me.
[narrator] After
making it only to day 12,
Andrew leaves the
challenge with a PSR of 5.4.
[Chris] I never knew that,
you know, 12 days ago,
I would meet somebody
that I would form
such a strong
connection with in Andrew.
He's my brother.
It hurts.
[sniffs]
That one kicks.
[Anthony] Yeah. Hard.
Especially for you.
Why don't we let
you chill for a bit?
Covering each other's
back is the only way
you get through
[bleep] like this.
[Danny] Andrew left,
and I think it's weighing
very heavy on Chris's mind.
So Anthony and I are
doing everything we can.
We're making sure he gets rest.
I think that's gonna
do him a world of good.
All right, she's loose.
Danny was able to do
some exploring and find
a small patch of bamboo,
which is gonna be
extremely helpful.
Bamboo, you're building houses
out of this in other countries.
There we go.
One, two, three.
Seems like I'm always
chopping [bleep].
Now we're doing just a
basic lean-to with the bamboo,
with the bamboo, which
will add some shade
and also work as a wind break
to give us a spot to
sit, relax, out of the sun
during the hottest
parts of the day.
[dramatically] Limpopo Pride.
Breakers of wind,
builder of bomas.
[Anthony] We'll be so much
more comfortable tonight.
Better structure,
warmer temperatures.
A good night.
The boma's been
improved, so tonight, already,
not nearly as chilly.
It's good. I expect it's
gonna be a good night.
Let's see what tomorrow brings.
[Danny] All right.
Another beautiful morning.
[Anthony] Oh, yeah.
Yeah, no wind anymore.
Last night was a
huge improvement.
The wind isn't drafting
through like it was before.
I probably slept more last night
than I have this whole time.
Here we are, day 13.
I have now broken
through the threshold
of my last record.
I was medically tapped
out of Colorado on day 12.
So, what's the plan
for today, boys?
- [Danny] Oh, food.
- Food.
- Food is the plan for the day.
- I agree.
[Anthony] Hopefully
you're pulling in a goose,
but we'll get some fishing
lines out there as well.
Out there as well.
[elephant trumpets]
[Danny] We are getting
much, much skinnier.
We're all feeling
the effects of fatigue,
so the plans for today -
we're gonna get our
fishing lines in the water
and hopefully catch more food.
[Anthony] Hopefully
we can rail one in.
[Chris] I know Andrew
really wants me
to finish this for him.
And I think that is
allowing me to turn a corner
and really refocus on
what the mission actually is,
and that is completing
the full 21-day redemption.
Not only for me,
but also for Andrew.
One that that Andrew
told me before he left is
he wanted me to
continue to use the bow,
and I'm gonna go
out hunting today.
I am still carrying him with me
and we are gonna make it
through the finish
line together.
I see two geese.
Hoping I'm gonna be
able to sneak up on them
and get a nice, clean shot.
[geese quacking]
They might have caught
my shadow, plus my smell.
And they were gone.
That's hunting.
[lion growls]
I think the next few
days are the most critical
for securing food.
The extraction hike is
still a long way away.
We are running short on energy.
I think it's time for a hunt.
Test my luck out there.
I've never gone
bow-hunting before.
So it's intimidating
but exciting.
Every animal's
gotta drink out here,
so I'm hoping that I can find
some coming down to the river.
I plan on hiding among
the bushes and trees
and just waiting.
Let's go see if we got
breakfast on the menu.
Nothing.
Bait's still on it. No signs
of any nibbling or nothing.
We'll come back and
check on that in a little bit.
[Danny whispering]
- [waterbuck groans]
- [bleeping] I hit it.
[bleep] I hit it.
[bleep]
Holy [bleep].
There's no breathing.
There's no movement.
My arrow went straight through
the entire body,
through the lungs.
Right behind the elbow.
[exhales deeply]
[ragged breathing]
Thank you for your sacrifice.
[exhales deeply]
[softly] Yes.
[inhales sharply]
We can finally eat.
[chuckles]
[ragged breathing] Yes!
We can eat now.
I just shot a South
African waterbuck.
I cannot believe
this is happening.
[sighs] Time to tell
my tribe the good news.
[howls loudly]
[shouts] We have meat!
- Yeah!
- Come quickly!
Bring the knife! Bring the axe!
Bring your appetite!
[sighs]
Never in my life did I
think this would happen.
I've never been
bow-hunting before.
I've pretty much just been
target-sh**ting at home.
And I shot a 400-pound
waterbuck from 20 yards away.
[sniffs loudly]
After all this suffering,
it's a dream come true.
Oh, beauty.
It's a South African waterbuck.
It's awesome, buddy.
Well done.
I got her right
through the lungs.
[Chris] Good shot,
baby. Good shot.
Thanks, man. Thank you.
[Anthony] That's a
major thing for Danny.
He'd never been
big game-hunting.
He just drew back an arrow
and actually took down big game
first time, first try, so, uh,
that'll be a once-in-a-lifetime
world-living experience
for him, for sure.
[Chris] Just keep
peeling it away slowly.
This is absolutely insane.
[Chris] It's awesome.
Good for you.
[Danny] With an
animal that size,
it is a huge, huge undertaking,
so we decide to
just quarter it...
- [Anthony] There we go.
- [Chris] Yeah.
...get the legs off.
That's where the largest
amounts of meat are.
I'm gonna leave the
rest for the wildlife.
[sighs]
And back to camp.
[Danny] Things can
change on a dime.
And it just proves
that if you keep your
mental game strong,
you will make it.
[Chris] So, here's
what I'm thinking.
We're losing sun.
- [Danny] Mmm-hmm.
- And this is a lot of meat...
that we're not gonna have
time to process all today.
So why don't we wrap this
the best we can in the grasses,
and throw it in our cave?
I like that idea.
Nothing's getting in that cave.
It's filled in with acacia.
[Danny] Bulletproof plan,
gentlemen. Let's do it.
[Anthony] I like it.
We are scrambling to figure out
a way to preserve all this.
So we decide for now
we need to wrap it up.
So we decide for now
we need to wrap it up
in grasses, make
sure it stays clean,
and we're gonna
stuff it in the cave
that's beside our boma.
The cave stays nice and cool.
It's like 50 degrees in
there in the heat of the day,
so it's the perfect place
to keep it refrigerated.
[groans]
We have meat.
Oh, my God, that looks so good.
- [Chris] Doesn't it?
- Yeah.
[Chris] This moment is massive.
We all needed food, and
we were at that critical point,
and Danny provided it for us.
A toast to you, my brother.
You actually [bleep]
k*lled a waterbuck in Africa.
[chuckling] I know.
[Anthony] You won't
forget that any time soon...
- No.
- ...in your life.
No. This is, like, one
of the biggest moments
in my entire life.
Wow.
[Danny] Not only have
I achieved a dream.
[Danny] Not only have
I achieved a dream
some people can only
hope to accomplish, but...
I fed my tribe for the
rest of the challenge.
- We all got full bellies?
- [Chris] Yeah.
[Chris] We kept our meat
in our primitive cold storage
all night.
And even just
opening this right now,
I can feel how
much colder it is.
We have a ton of meat
that I gotta process
here very, very quickly.
We gotta get it on the
smoker, get it preserved,
and make sure that
we don't lose any of this,
especially so
close to extraction.
Building a smoker frame.
The idea is a tripod.
Run a reed through the
next one and the next one,
lay reeds across,
you create a rack.
Three or four
racks based on that.
[Danny] We've got
some waterbuck sizzling
- on a hot rock.
- [Chris] Yup.
Cooked over an open flame.
We're living it up
out here, everybody.
We're almost out of here
and we're still
feasting like kings.
Not to mention this
sweet, sweet smoker.
Not to mention this sweet,
sweet smoker we've devised.
The Meat-za Hut 2,000, is
that what it's called, Anthony?
Yeah. Yup.
[Danny] This is
a thing of beauty.
[Chris] Anthony, you
constructed this beast.
You wanna do the honors?
[Anthony] Sure.
I'd like a ribbon to
maybe cut it and...
- [Danny laughs]
- You know?
That's jerky.
I'm gonna grab
another chunk for you.
[Danny] Oh, nice.
[Anthony] This is a lot of meat.
With the cold nights we have
and it stored away
in the cave safely...
[Anthony] Mmm-hmm.
...I think we're...
getting pretty damn
good at this, boys.
Making it happen, boys.
We're making it happen.
[animal calling]
[leaves rustling]
- [hyenas cackling]
- [bleep]
[Anthony] Hey! Get out of here.
Get, get. [bleep]
Get out of here.
[hyena cackling]
[Chris] Hey!
Get the [bleep] out of here!
All right. Back by
popular demand,
the legends are
true, my friends.
The Meat-za Hut 2,000.
The ultimate pinnacle
in smoking technology.
It gets better. That's
right. It gets better.
We're gonna reinforce the walls,
get some more proper
fuel, and before you know it
we're gonna be swimming in meat.
Yeah, that's a great
mental image, isn't it?
[deep voice] We've got the meat.
Spoil your meat [echoes]
meat, meat, meat...
Hyenas.
- [hyena braying]
- Hey! Hey!
[hyena cackling]
[geese quacking]
So, we've had the
honor and privilege.
Of being visited by
hyenas last night.
We've got two thorn barriers
so hopefully it's doing its job.
'Cause hyenas, they're
opportunistic animals
and they are ruthless.
They seem to be gone now.
My brave hero
Chris scared them all.
[chuckles]
Thanks, buddy.
[Anthony] Last supper.
[Danny] Oh, man.
It's bittersweet.
You know, I am gonna miss this.
Wherever the winds
may take us in life,
we're always gonna
have 21 days in Africa.
Mmm-hmm.
[Chris] And this is the
redemption tribe family.
And that is something
that will never, ever
be removed from us.
To our last night here.
Absolutely. Last night.
[burps loudly]
Compliments to the chef.
[Anthony] Team effort,
boys. Team effort.
[Danny] Mmm-hmm.
All right, got my axe and
I'm taking my bow and knife,
the spear, the bow and arrows.
I've got one of the
pots and the fishing line.
This is it, fellas.
- Hell yeah, it is.
- Action time, boys.
Say goodbye... to
your Air B-and Boma.
[Danny] Uh-huh.
[Anthony] Whoosh.
Let's take a look at the
map and figure this out.
With our boma here,
it's gotta be there.
- [Chris] Call it a day.
- Yeah.
- We good with that?
- Yeah. Let's do it.
Let's get the hell out of here.
[narrator] The tribe will be
heading four miles northeast,
across hostile terrain
covered with jagged rocks
and needle-like thorns,
to their extraction point
next to a small lake.
To their extraction
point next to a small lake.
The soaring temperatures
will further deplete their
dwindling energy levels.
And they'll have to be on
guard for black mambas,
lions, and crocodiles
lurking in every shadow.
[Anthony] It's what
it's all for, boys.
- [both] Yeah.
- [Danny] The end is near.
We don't get
redemption till we get to
- that extraction vehicle.
- Yeah.
As of right now,
it's just another day.
[Danny] Yeah.
Now we're rock-hopping.
This extraction hike is
incredibly treacherous.
There is a ton of rocky
outcrops and a very hot sun.
And it's prime
location for scorpions
as well as snakes.
- Feeling that heat now.
- Oh, yeah.
- You just bake in the [bleep].
- Yeah.
It's still pretty early
morning right now though.
[Danny] [bleep] stinky
rotisserie chickens.
Heating up.
[Anthony] Let's keep
our eyes on point.
We haven't seen a
lot of them out here,
but we are in snake
territory right now.
[Chris] Yeah. The brush
is only getting thicker, too.
You know, despite all the
water we drank this morning,
my mouth and throat
is already parched.
[Anthony] Yeah.
[Chris] I'm running
on fumes, boys.
[Anthony] I
understand that, man.
Let's just try and keep pushing.
Right in front of the left.
So, first challenge, I
sprinted a marathon.
You can't do that.
I learned from my mistakes.
You gotta listen to your body.
Stay resilient. And I did.
Redemption, it's
not in the bag yet,
but get me the F
out of here. Let's go.
Whoa. That's a
big body of water.
Got a lake ahead of us.
Wow.
That is Africa.
That should be our road
on the other side of that.
- It has to be.
- Somewhere.
Come on, final push, fellas.
- Final [bleep] push.
- Do it!
[Danny] By day 12 of Colorado,
I had nothing left in me.
Now here I am, day 21,
and I've done more
than redeem myself.
I made it this far. I'm
gonna make it out of here.
No breaks, no rests.
Let's just finish it.
Oh, I can hear something.
We're just over there.
- Oh, yeah!
- Oh, there it is!
- Yeah, yeah!
- There it is!
[all] Whoo!
- Yeah!
- Whoo!
Get over here, baby.
- Yeah, we did it!
- Yeah, boys!
Yeah!
Whoo!
- Limpopo!
- Yeah!
This moment. This
is our redemption.
Yes.
Nobody's ever taking
that from you, brother.
Oh... The past three
years have been filled with
what-ifs and who-knows.
And I have learned
that I am a lot tougher.
Than I maybe thought I was.
And today, that all
comes to a close.
I've done it. I've done 21 days.
I have achieved redemption.
Andrew's coming with us.
This will forever
change me for the better,
and I am so thankful for
this opportunity to come back.
[bleep] did this, boys.
We did this, boys!
Yeah!
- Yeah!
- [Anthony] See you, Africa!
This feeling is profound.
It is undescribable.
It has been an accumulation
of three years for me.
Two for you. How long for you?
- Five.
- Five.
Five years of thinking this
was never gonna happen again.
[narrator] Over
the past 21 days,
Chris lost 18 pounds.
His PSR increases
from 5.6 to 7.4.
[Chris] I would be
remiss if I wasn't sad
that Andrew wasn't
here joining us.
Andrew, buddy, we missed
you, and you are with us in spirit.
It hasn't hit me
yet. Like it's not real.
[Danny] This is the
challenge that I wanted.
I wanted the hardship
and the success,
and that's exactly what I got.
Nothing will ever be
as challenging as this.
And with that in mind,
I can do anything.
[narrator] Danny lost 16 pounds.
His PSR goes from 7.0 to 8.1.
[Anthony] Having a redemption
was something I
couldn't say no to.
This is literally one of
those life events that,
whatever else may come,
may go, this is permanent.
[narrator] Anthony
lost 15 pounds.
His PSR rises from 5.8 to 7.9.
- Redemption is forever!
- Yeah, baby.
[all whooping]
[Anthony] Goodbye Africa!
[Danny] Goodbye Limpopo!
