04x04 - Fierce Fabulous Fashion

Post by bunniefuu »

- Previously on
"Drag Race Down Under"...

We're playing
"I'm a Celebrity Impersonator,

Snatch Me Out of Here!"

[laughter]

- We were in
the f*cking Outback.

[laughter]

- How you doing?

- I don't think this is gonna
hold up in a court of law.

- Microplastics.

- Yes.

- I've got a microplastic.

I keep it in my bedside table.

[laughter]

- Brenda Bressed,
you are the winner

of this week's challenge.

I'm sorry, my dears,
but all three of you

are up for elimination.

Max Drag Queen, Nikita
Iman, shantay, you stay.

Karna Ford, sashay away.

[music playing]

- Oh, my gosh.

Aw.

- Karna's gone.

I'm so sad to see
my Sydney sister go.

But am so glad
to have sent her home.

I'm so proud to have been in a
cast with such talented queens.

- I just want to let you
all know, you all suck.

[laughter]

- What the f*ck is that?

- That's a kiss
from the Demogorgon.

[laughter]

- b*tch, that was a lip sync.

- Oh, my god.

- Thank you.

- I was not expecting it
to be the three of us.

- No, me neither.

- No shade, no tea,
but I did think

it was Max and Karna
that had it, to be

completely f*cking honest.

- Nikita's not going to be
in the bottom again.

I mean,
Nikita's not a bottom girl.

Moving forward,
you're going to see Nikita

in the top... in the top only,
because she is

a grand prize winner.

- The way in which I was like,
two people are going home,

and I promise you it was
not going to be me... yeah.

- Cheesy as that sounds,
I feel like

my mum was with me today.

I'm probably feeling
the best that I've

ever felt in this competition.

And I've just gotten
to show everyone

that I can do a cartwheel
into a f*cking split.

- Love you, Karna.

- You can afford the world
now, but they can't afford you.

- Watch out, girls, because
Max is finally here.

- So we've finally broken
the curse of Lazy Susan.

[cheering]

I'm feeling so good to be
the one to have thrown

Lazy Susan off her winning throne.

- Brenda, would you say you
finally turned the tables?

- Which makes the win
so much more delicious.

I really didn't know
which way it was gonna go.

Both of you,
you did so f*cking well.

- Yeah.

In my head, it's just like,
the edging session continues.

- Yes.

- I am on up in
this competition,

but I haven't got that win yet.

- Good thing you love
being edged, though.

- Yeah.

- I'm gonna milk it
out of you, babe.

- I've got my eye on the prize.

I've got my g*ns blazing.

And I'm so ready to do this.

- Well, I'm literally bleeding
out, so let's get out of drag.

- Yes, please!
- Thank god.

- Absolutely.

- Going forth,
I'm here to fight.

I'm here to win.
- Slowly.

[screams]

- I'm gonna do
whatever it takes.

- The bleeding.
Mother.

- I'm Mandy Moobs.

I am the legend from Brisbane.

- Wow, you smell so good
from down here.

- Shut up.

- I have been waiting for this
moment for four years now.

- Oh, my G string.

- I'm going in for the k*ll.

- What?

Aw, f*ck.

- [laughs]

- The winner of "Drag Race
Down Under" receives a one-year

supply of Anastasia
Beverly Hills cosmetics,

and a cash prize of $50,000.

Tonight with !sis Avis Loren,

Rhys Nicholson, and our extra
special guest judge, G Flip.

- [singing] RuPaul's Drag Race

May the best drag queen win

Best drag queen win

[upbeat music]

[giggling]

all: How you doing?

[laughter]

- It's a new week
in the Werk Room.

- Good morning.

Good morning. Good morning.

- Now that I've got a taste for
the win, I am hungry for more.

- I am so happy.

I want you to enjoy
this target now.

Can you please just put
that focus over here.

- Yes.

- These b*tches better be
worried, because I've got

even more tricks up my sleeve.

- Lucina, first-time save,
how are you feeling tonight?

- I feel really good about it.

I've gone from bottom
and working my way up.

- Yeah.

- I thought you were
going to be in the bottom.

Because I was with
you Snatch Game,

and you were definitely
saying the jokes.

But it honestly felt like
you were just reading lines.

- Actually, I feel like people
are kind of seeing me as, like,

the easy target, maybe seeing me

as, like, not as strong as
some of the other girls.

But the bottom three definitely
had less jokes than me.

I don't want these
girls to think that they

can walk all over me.

Their opinions are their
opinions, but I know the truth.

- If people are
underestimating you,

it's time for you to f*cking
rip out the f*cking...

everything you've
got, and give it all.

- And I'm ready to do so.

[laughter]

[siren wailing]

- All right.

- Here we go.

- "Hellaur,"
"hellaur," "hellaur."

- Good morning, Michelle.

- For this week's
Maxi Challenge,

from scratch, you
need to make outfits

worthy of the main stage.

- It's the sewing challenge.

Yeah!

- #DragRaceDownUnder.

But first,
to assign your fabrics,

we're gonna play a little game.

"What You Unpacking?"

- Oh.

- Oh, pit crew!

[cheering]

[laughter]

- My god, there's more.

This is our favourite
challenge so far.

Ooh, delicious.

[laughter, applause]

- I've never seen
them so attentive.

- We are deprived.

It's been so long that Freya
is looking f*cking great, so...

I'm kidding.

[laughs]

- Don't worry about
their small cases.

They're growers, not showers.

Now, ladykins, earlier,
we asked you to fill out

a survey about
your fellow queens.

[laughter]

I'm gonna ask you
the same questions.

If your answer matches
the majority vote,

you get to pick a suitcase...

- Ooh.

- Which will reveal
a fabric theme.

If you don't answer correctly,
I'll move on down the line

until we get the right answer.

- With the mini challenge,

we've all previously voted
of who we think

is most likely to be X, Y, Z.

- Oh, no.

- Some shady b*tches up in here.

- I'm just hoping that the
responses are anonymous.

- My first random choice...

Max Drag Queen.

According to the majority
of the group, which queen

is the sexiest out of drag?

- Oh.

- Well, my answer is
different, but I know

what the group's going to say.

- What's your answer?

- Why do you want to know,
Michelle?

[laughter]

The group's going to say Nikita.

- You are correct.

[cheering]

- I'm not surprised.

I'm surrounded by dogs.

- Max, grab those
binoculars and have a closer

look before you choose.

Look at the suitcases,
Max, the suitcases.

- Yeah, I know.

It's really difficult.

[laughter]

Number seven.

- OK, number seven,
what you unpacking?

- Whoa!

- It's written in the stars
that I picked check.

Because come check this.

Puss.

Start your engines.

[laughs]

- Lucina Innocence, which queen
suffers from drag delusion?

- Ooh.

- I'm going to guess
that these girls

might have said Miss Nikita.

[laughter]

- And the correct
answer is Nikita Iman.

[laughter, applause]

- Oh, I voted for Nikita.

She lives on
Drag Delusion Island,

because she believes
that there is

not a single other person in
the world that is as divine.

And that is why her drag works.

It's fantastic,
but it's deluded as hell.

- What you unpacking?

- Number four.

- Florals.

- I can work with that.

- Nikita Iman.

- Yay.

- Which queen has
the most pedestrian drag?

- Max.

- Max.

Actually, Nikita,
no one voted for Max.

- Period, b*tch.

[laughter]

- Moving on to Vybe.

- Let's say Brenda.

- The majority does
not agree with you.

- Oh, f*ck.

One of the issues with this game

is that drag queens are,
like, genetically incapable

of listening to each other.

- Lucina?
- Freya.

- Mandy?

- Lazy.

- I myself suffer
from that same issue.

Vybe.

- Actually, no.

- What?

- Did someone say me?

- Unfortunately,
it's like, so obvious

that it's Nikita, that we
assume it's already been said.

- Miss Nikita.

- Duh!

- It's called realness,
and y'all could never.

- Number one.

- Tie dye for Brenda Bressed.

Which queen is most
likely to mop your drag?

- Nikita, 'cause she
didn't bring any.

[laughter]

- Unfortunately,
the majority of the queens

do not agree with you.

- Freya.

- But the majority of
the group agrees with you.

- If you can pick the right
answer, and get a box,

and have a choice of a fabric...

- Denim is another option
for Brenda Bressed.

- Then that is something
that you should do.

- Brenda Bressed.

- Yes.

- Which queen is most
likely to go home next?

[ominous music]

- Miss Lucina.

- It's not awkward.

- The correct answer
is Lucina Innocence.

- I just want to
let these girls know

that I really don't think they

should be underestimating me.

I'm probably best known
around the local scene

as more of a look queen,
and I am ready

for the sewing challenge.

- OK.

At the end of our game,
Max has checks.

Freya has kitty girl.

Lazy Susan has pleather.

Now, Lucina, you have
florals and sequins.

- Mm.

- Which one do you want
to keep for yourself?

- Floral.

I do love a bit of sparkle,
but know that sequins

are really hard to work with.

- And who do you give
your sequins to...

Mandy, Vybe, or Nikita?

- I'm gonna give them to Vybe.

- How g*y.

- [laughs]

- All right.

- Out of the three girls,
as far as I'm aware,

she's the least proficient
with a sewing machine.

And she's constantly been in
the top, so why not set her

up with a bit of a challenge?

- Brenda, you have tie dye,
denim, and lamé.

- For myself, I am
going to keep tie dye.

- Why would you do that?

- Who gets lamé
and who gets denim?

- I've got a lot of power in
these little hands right now.

I feel like Mandy could
work with anything.

And Nikita, I don't
know what you can do.

[laughter]

If this is an opportunity
for me to throw someone off

in a challenge that I'm not
completely confident in,

then I'm gonna use
that opportunity.

I'm gonna give Mandy lamé.

- OK.

That means, Nikita,
you got denim.

- I love denim.

- OK, queens, you have
seven hours to turn

these fabrics into
fierce, fabulous

fashions that screams "you."

[all screaming]

And the clock starts now.

Racers, start your engines,
and may the best drag queen...

all: Win!

- [gasps] Look at that.

Oh, wow.

- Lamé, my favourite.

- Oh, yeah.

This week, we are sewing
and designing outfits

worthy of the main stage
in fabrics

we didn't get to
choose for ourselves.

- Oh, it's a satin.

- Oh, OK, white wash.

Interesting.

Interesting.

- Michelle did say
she wanted to see

an outfit that screams "us."

- Yeah. 'Cause, like,
this would be easiest,

but I would never wear that.

I think I need to do
a design that

complements the flowy
aspect of the fabric.

And immediately, my head
goes to '70s kind of hippie

sort of festival vibes.

- Is there a fabric you're
actually glad you didn't get?

- Tie dye.

- I wanted tie dye.

- I think it's so ugly.

[upbeat music]

- But that's all stretch fabric.

That's going to be
absolutely fine.

This is shiny,
but it looks like crap.

Lamé, not my first
choice of fabric.

But I am confident
in my skill base.

I can make this work.

Definitely feeling it today,
being the sewer of the group.

- Yeah.
- So...

- Yeah, because...

- f*cking no pressure
today, is it?

- Well, you've been
on an incline.

- I have. Yes.
- You have.

I think this really
could be your week.

- I think so too.

- Vybe, why does this
remind me of you?

- I mean, I do love
a little red pleather moment.

- Well, you know
what I'm thinking?

- Hmm?

- I want to come as the Princess

of Darkness, the devil.

- g*y, OK.

- I'll do, like, the devil, but
she's on a corporate retreat.

I love the devil.

As a q*eer person,
I feel very aligned

with the devil,
kicked out of heaven,

forsaken for many years.

It's the blood.

I mean, I could
also do this, like...

- Oh, my god, done.

- Often mistaken as being
evil, that is the businesswoman

that I would like to be.

How are you feeling about yours?

- I'm not going to
have a feeling about it

until I know how they sew.

So I've been given
sequins, which

is a glamorous, gorgeous
fabric to look at,

and an absolute
b*tch to work with.

- I think this is iconic.

Look at that.
- Yeah.

- Pixar animated fur.

- Sequins and a sewing
machine are not good friends.

Let's call them Brenda
and Nikita in this situation.

- It's a little bit too
rainbow for my liking.

- If I have to make a needle go
through layers of plastic while

understanding how the stretch
of the fabric works, look,

I'm preparing for
a mental breakdown today.

So get the cameras.

- Hurray! Hurrah!

You don't look happy.

- Who does?
- I'm happy.

I got my...

- Well, good for you.

- I got exactly what I wanted.

- Good for you.

- I am pumped.

I am so excited that
I got kitty girl.

I think animal patterns
look beautiful on my skin.

This is... this is it.

Cocoon realness.

Because a lot of
the other fabrics

are not ones that I particularly

would want to have.

Oh, my gosh.

These are... that is tough.

And it just so happens
to be that animal print

is Michelle's favourite colour.

So, yeah, I feel like
that's just another...

another plus for me this week.

[suspenseful music]

- So, girls, are you
happy with the fabrics

that I chose for you?

- I would have been
excellent with anything.

- Well, that was
literally my thinking.

I've heard that denim
is hard to work with,

so I was like, let's
steer clear of that.

- Is there beef there, Brenda
Is that why you gave me denim?

- I don't know.

If it was a bit of sabotage,
then make it work, babe.

Turns out our sweet little
Brenda Bressed is maybe not

as sweet as we once thought.

Let's give that hard
fabric to the girl

who is maybe a little bit
shaky in the competition

at the moment.

- Are you gonna make any
flowers out of denim?

- No.

- This is looking
very petally, babe.

- It is.

Well, I'm just
playing with texture.

What are you playing with,
rainbows and colours?

- Brenda has got shark eyes on.

She knows what the f*ck is up,
except she's sabotaging herself

with the f*cking tie dye.

- Oh, my god, this is heaven.

- Like, ugh.

- Hey, my little wombats.

- Hey!

[cheering]

- We've got company.

All hail our reigning queen...

- Aw.

- !sis Avis Loren.

[cheering]

[laughter]

Mandy Moobs,
come on over, please.

I see swatches of lamé.

- Ooh.

- So this is what I'm
thinking for my lamé.

When I saw the gold, I just
instantly remembered of, like,

a bit of Norma Desmond.

It is a corset that goes
down into a skirt moment.

And then, underneath,
I was thinking, because I've

showed off my t*ts
already, I want to show

off my a*s a little bit.

- I mean, you kind of did
something like that last week.

And I'm not saying
that's a bad thing.

If you're worried about doing
it, you did that in the day.

I know this is less than a day.

- Yeah.

- But I still have
faith in your ability.

Were you excited that
Brenda gave you lamé?

- Oh, I was easy with anything.

I'm very confident in this one.

- Must be nice.

- In a race against Mandy,
she's not looking at any of us.

- It does seem like
a lot to accomplish in such

a short amount of time.

If anyone in this
room can do it...

- Yeah.

- You're the one to do it.

- This is Mandy's game to win.

And if she doesn't take
it out, it's gonna be

really f*cking embarrassing.

- Freya Armani Exchange,
come on over.

- [laughs] Not the exchange.

- [laughs]

Hey, kitty girl.
- Hey, kitty girl.

- How are you?

- Good, thank you.

- Are you getting close
to any of the queens?

- Yeah, I guess

Max and I have been
getting to know each other.

- Oh.

- That's all I'm gonna say.

- Ooh.

[laughter]

- Oh, my goodness, how cute.

- Just make sure you have
her home before 10 o'clock.

- Yes, mum.

- Let's see what you've
got in your book.

- Yes.
I'm going kitty girl.

I'm going claws
out a little bit.

I feel like I
really want to give,

like, a kind of sassy moment.

You know, I'm... again, I'm
in the room, I'm no Mandy

Moobs or no !sis Avis Loren.

- So do you sew at all?

- No.

Like, I... I love to
design my own outfits,

but I'm not like, yeah...

- That's a pretty big
undertaking, don't you think?

- OK, well, that's fine.

Because I do have a
simpler silhouette that's

probably more achievable.

- Listen, not everybody
is a master seamstress.

- Yeah.

- That's OK.

If playing it safe is what's
gonna get you through it,

then do what feels right.

- Look, I still want to
take a little bit of a risk,

so I'm not gonna go
for the simple dress.

I'm still gonna
go with the gown.

Because I still want
to show the judges

that I'm not only trying, but
I'm willing to challenge myself

as well.

- Up next, Vybe.

Come on over, baby.

Ooh, look at that.
- Yeah.

Yeah.

I think the word we're
looking for is "f*ck."

[laughter]

- Wow.

Was this sabotage?

- I don't want to say it
is, 'cause I love Lucina.

But a quick sketch
of my look is just...

[laughter]

I'm really going for
glamour, achievable glamour.

All right?
- Oh, my gosh.

Are you worried, Vybe?

- I'm moderately worried.

It's not something I don't know
how to, like, thread a machine

and sew something.
- Right.

- My fear is more in
sizing and patterning.

- So let's talk to
!sis about that.

- What I'm thinking...
like, a Morticia deep V,

you know, like, split
and then a little

bit of a circle to the floor.

- Mm-hmm.

- And that is something
that's very sort

of a silhouette
that I wear at home

and I'm comfortable sort
of performing in, as well.

- If this is something
that works for you at home

and you know how to do it, why
in god's name wouldn't you?

- Yeah.

I'm not trying to make
it hard for myself.

- I think your attitude
to keeping it simple

is very, very smart,
because sequins

can get bulky very quickly.

Too many seams,
too many design elements,

can really start to make it look

a bit like a dog's breakfast.

- Yes.

I'm not willing to leave
this competition in something

I sewed myself.

- Thank you, Vybe.

- Thank you.

I spent too much money,
too much time,

and I don't have the patience.

We're gonna get through this.

And safe is a win today.

- Lucina Innocence,
come on over, doll.

Oh, my goodness.

Those drawings look beautiful.

- I was thinking
of doing something

like where have the black
as, like, a base dress,

and then pink roses
kind of dotted

around almost like they wrap
around my body kind of thing.

- Uh-huh.

- I think it's a really smart
idea to include something very

textural because it adds an
element of detail and interest

to an otherwise flat piece
of fabric that you've got.

- Now, listen, you've
been in the bottom.

- Mhm.

- Last week, you were safe.

- How's your head feeling?

- I've had better.

- Mm.

- While I don't want to
just settle for being safe,

I definitely feel like
I'm on the right track.

Even if some of
these girls think

that I should have been in
the bottom for Snatch Game...

- Let's talk about that.

- I just have to
remind myself that I

am good enough to be here,
and that I can pull through

and I will.
- You are.

That's why you're here.

You were chosen to be here.

And it's important
to start doing that.

You need to really put
your foot on the gas pedal.

It doesn't matter
what anybody thinks.

- Getting this
advice from Michelle

is really reassuring, especially

because I still feel like these
girls are underestimating me.

So I'm gonna really
g*n for it this week.

- Nikita Iman.

Oh, you're bringing
the whole woman.

OK.

So, Nikita, you've got denim.

- Yes.

- And you've worked
with denim before?

- I have, but I haven't
really made, like,

a full garment out of it.

- Do you know how to sew?

- Yes. Yes, I do.

- Who taught you how to sew?

- My great auntie, actually.

When I was in Samoa, my
auntie had a Singer machine

that you turn the wheel.

- Wow.

- So the manual ones
where I used to sit there

and turn her wheels and...

and put the thread
through the needle.

- That's really special.

- Yeah.

- Well, we see a neck piece.
- Yeah.

- What's the goal?

- It's gonna be
a full-length gown.

And then I'm going
to spray paint it,

graffiti it, very
South Auckland vibes.

I feel like adding my own
little twist into the fabric

itself is gonna separate me
from the rest of the girls.

And I just hope that
the judges really

take that into consideration.

Hopefully, my design will
put me in the top this week.

- You got to go for it.

- Please?

Please?

[laughter]

Something's telling me I
might be in the top this week.

And I think I might have
the win, so fingers crossed.

Fingers crossed.

- Queens, listen up.

We can't wait to see your
fierce, fabulous fashions

tomorrow on the main
stage, where we'll

be joined by our extra
special guest judge,

singer-songwriter G Flip.

[laughter]

!sis, your turn.

Tell them what
they need to know.

Good luck, and don't f*ck it up.

[laughter]

[music playing]

- I saw that you sketched
out another design

after your walkthrough.

- I did.

I'm gonna swap it
up a little bit.

- Yeah?
- Yeah.

Just that one comment of,
it looks kind of similar

to what you wore last week...

Last thing I want
to do is compare

what I've already brought.

I want to show new
things every week.

So the only option
is just to swap it.

- I was really happy because
it's like, her comment

to the other girls was...

- If it's not broke,
don't change it.

- Yeah.

- But I feel like there's
extra pressure on me.

This is what I do.

This is literally
my challenge to win,

and I don't want
to let myself down.

[upbeat music]

- I can sew.

I think what I struggle with
is designs and concepts.

I think I'm gonna, like, put
it on the mannequin and then,

like, trim it.
- Yeah.

- I'll just lay
it out and I'll...

- God, these colours
are so f*cking ugly.

I just... [laughs]
I just hate it so much.

- Do you hate it?

- I hate rainbow.

- Ooh.

Like, I've just decided to make
my whole outfit out of this.

And now I'm looking at it, I
can't stop thinking that, like,

she said it's ugly.

I don't know.

Aw, is it gonna be
really ugly...

- No.
- Now?

- No. No.

Embrace it.
- It's gonna be ugly.

- Embrace it.

Oh, no.

I shouldn't have told Brenda
that I hate the tie dye.

Do we have any gasoline?

- If I hear one more word...

- [laughs]

I finally realised what
my true identity is,

and that is as Brenda's
inner saboteur.

[eerie music]

- [giggles]
Frey-ina and Maximus,

where are we having
the first date?

- It's right now.

- It's right now.

- It's currently, during
the sewing challenge.

Yeah.

- This is what we're calling
a "crafternoon" date.

- Oh, my god, Nikita,
this looks amazing.

- Thanks, baby.

- How did you do it?

- Just a bit of spray paint.

- Uh-huh.

You're so creative.

- I think the girls
don't see me as a threat

when it comes to
a sewing challenge.

But I feel like my design's
Gonna pop and kind of stand out

from everyone else's.

- Nikita is pulling
out these wires,

and she's ripping fabric,
and she's manipulating it.

In this challenge, she's the one

I'm going to be
worried about the most,

because it looks like
she knows what she's doing.

[upbeat music]

- Stunned.

- [vocalising]

- You don't get to sing
until the dress is done.

- Yes!

- We've all been sewing
for hours now,

and we're all just
trying to stay alive.

- Please, sir, please
let me have a break.

I've been sewing so long.

Is it done yet?

I spent, like four hours
just pinning this skirt.

I'm having a really
grouse time doing this.

Actually, you know what?

I hate this skirt
and the skirt hates me.

And I've decided that we're
just not meant to work.

I feel like I need to make
pants or something.

- That could be kind of g*y.

- I will put it out
there for everyone.

If you need help, just ask.

- Aw.

Thank you, Mandy.

- I'm noticing Freya
is just a little bit

behind all the other girls.

- Fold it over once
and then cut it.

That makes sense.

- I've made most of
the pieces for my costume.

And Freya seems
to have just finished

cutting out and sewing
basic seams on, like,

the base of her dress.

- And now to do it all again.

- What have you
been doing, girl?

Maybe she spent too much
time flirting with Max

and not enough time sewing.

- You need to cover your crotch.

- Why are you telling
me to do that?

- I don't know.

I think she's in trouble.

- [laughs]

[upbeat music]

- Get to work.

- It's a new day
in the Werk Room,

and eight of the most broken
f*cking women in the world

walk back in.

I saw it in the man's eye.

This is how I die.

- [giggles]

- We stayed up all night
sewing to try and appease

four vengeful gods.

It's a hard time.

- What are you making?

- A bow.

- No.

- My brain is very,
like, how does a bow go?

- It was a big night.

- It was a big night.

- I'm feeling much
better about my garment

than I was when
we started sewing.

It's got a little reveal
that I don't think any

of the other girls are doing.

I think I've done enough
to get by this week.

Do you have anything
to finish this morning?

- Yeah.

I want to make gloves
and a G-string.

And then I'm gonna
go help Freya.

- I'm so ready for this
challenge to be over.

I am stressed
the house down, boots.

I should not have
chosen to do a gown.

I think I underestimated how
long lining takes and all,

like, the little stupid sh*t.

- Yeah.

- But look, I'ma persevere,
and I'm not gonna be

down on myself
for challenging myself.

You know what I mean?

- Good for you for,
like, actually going ham.

- Exactly.

[upbeat music]

- This looks so g*y, Luce.

- Thank you.

- You're the Rosebud
Queen this week.

I've passed the prolapse on.

- What an honour.

- Lucina is adding flowers,
and I just don't know

at what point she's going to stop.

The construction quality of
that garment is incredible.

But I kind of liked it
when it was just the ring

around the base and the ring
around the neck and the ring

around the sleeves.

I would have stopped there.

[upbeat music]

- So, Miss Mandy, how
did you get into sewing?

- It was before drag.

Like, I used to go out
clubbing and stuff,

and you'd see the queens.

And I'm like, hey, I could...

I can do this.

I could make you a little dress.

So I started making
queens' costumes.

And 13 years later,
I'm still doing it.

There's a moment when you
create a garment for someone

and then you see it on stage.

And it's that moment right there

that brings me just utter joy.

- What's your take
on, like, drag

comes to, like, creating

costumes versus today?

- There's not a lot of people
who actually have the skills.

When I first started, it
was just, everyone knew.

And I feel like when I
make myself costumes,

it's not a one-time wear.

I want this to last for decades.

And it can be passed
down to other queens.

- You know, I hate when
people get that fast fashion

attitude about drag.

Like, wear it once and burn it.

I'm like, mm...

- I work, like,
five times a week.

And you're expecting me
to have a new outfit

for every single f*cking gig.

- I hate that mindset too.

- There is a very strong
expectation on queens

that, you know, every gig
should be a new outfit,

a new wig.

Like, I don't have that money.

I don't know a single
queen that does.

I've had people,
you know, be like,

oh, you're wearing that again.

I'm like, well, yes.

I paid f*cking $600
for this dress to be made.

Do you think I'm not to wear it
until it f*cking dies?

- When you get given,
like, a show set

or a show costume in Melbourne,
we call it a legacy piece.

To be wearing, like, something
that another drag queen

has, like, worn as part
of their legacy is so c**t.

- I love it.

I love it.

I think it's, like, the more
we can do that, the better.

Because it's... you know,
it's preserving drag history.

And we don't have a drag museum.

- Yeah.
I love it.

- All right.
I'm done too.

- Whoo!
- Yay!

- Should I add this?

- No.

- Because it's on the...
it's on the back.

- No.
- No?

- No.

I absolutely think Freya
is in trouble this week.

- Is it gonna get weird 'cause
the bottom of it isn't harmed?

- I'm looking at it head
to toe, and it's just...

it's an absolute mess.

Put your face on and I'll
cut it once you're in drag.

And I'll quickly hem it for you.

I don't want to see my
Brisbane sister going home,

so I will do everything
I can to help.

But at this stage, I don't think

there's a lot left I can do.

[RuPaul's "Cover Girl"]

- [singing] Cover girl,
put the bass in your walk

Head to toe,
let your whole body talk

And what

- Welcome to the main stage
of "Drag Race Down Under."

Our reigning queen,
!sis Avis Loren,

what's your favourite accessory?

- Hmm.

Rhys Nicholson,
'cause they go with everything.

- [laughs]

Speaking of
wardrobe malfunctions,

it's Rhys Nicholson.

- Hello.

- [laughs]

- Oh, Michelle, tonight I took
the advice of Coco Chanel,

and before I left the house,
I took off one thing.

- What was it?

- My pants.

Want to see?

- I think I'm good for now.

- OK.

- And our extra-special
guest judge, G Flip.

G, do you consider
yourself a fashionista?

- Well, I did once design my
own line of Crocs, so, yes?

- That works for me.

Absolutely.

This week,
we challenged our queens

to create fierce, fabulous
fashion from scratch.

Racers, start your engines,

and may the best drag queen win.

- [singing]
'Cause you're a star, baby

- Category is Fierce,
Fabulous Fashion.

Up first, Lazy Susan, pleather.

Sorry, my dear.

This is the no smoking section.

- I am serving Lazy Susan
as the manager of hell.

I'm making sure
the guillotines are dull,

and that all of the sodomites
are in a nice, tidy line.

- Oh, no.

- Oh.

- How's your head, hon?

- Oh!

- The bald and the beautiful.

- We love a queen
with a message.

[laughter]

Lucina Innocence, floral.

Every rose has its thorn.

- Tonight on the runway,
I am serving you a sexy,

body-hugging gown with pops
of pink flowers all over.

I can tell that the judges
want to pick my flowers.

- Her favourite author
is Judy Bloom.

Nikita Iman, denim.

She denim already
done had herses.

- I am giving you urban.

I am giving you
Sydney Fashion Week.

- This is the most
confusing gender reveal

I've ever been to.

- They can't clock
a single thing.

The hem is hitting the floor.

My arch is arching.

The pouf is poufing.

And the denim is deniming.

[laughs]

- Brenda Bressed, tie dye.

- Is "The Magic School Bus"
still running?

- I am serving Miss Frizzle's
cooked off her face sister

who's working the bake sale

at the church realness.

So the judges think that
they have seen my whole look.

And then, all of a sudden,
I'm spinning and I'm spinning,

and I keep twirling it around,

and it just got
a little caught up.

- Mum, you're embarrassing me.

- The only thing
I can do with this now

is just try and sell
the camp nature of it.

- Those boots are
made for walking.

- Vybe, sequins.

Mm, cold shoulder.

- I'm giving you
a full floor-length gown,

complete with a sequin ruffle
trim around the entire train

that I'm dragging behind me.

And I have
a keyhole in the back.

- A keyhole back
for easy access.

- I'd make more jokes,
but I can't pronounce sequins.

- Freya Armani, kitty girl.

Meow, meow, meow.

- From the Michelle
Visage collection.

- Yes.

- On the runway tonight,
I'm serving you glamour.

I'm serving you kitty.

I'm serving you tiger print.

- Tiger print?

I don't even know her print.

- Am I 100% happy
with the construction?

Absolutely not.

But I think the overall
shape and look of this dress

is super glamorous.

- Why don't you come up
to my litter box sometime?

- Max Drag Queen, checks.

- I surrender.

- Bonasera.

- I feel like a '40s racer
chick at the Daytona 500.

She's waving the flag.

She's twirling the baton.

- I hear she has
a checkered past.

- I feel like !sis is picking
up what I'm putting down.

And that's what's important
in this challenge,

because that's my mum.

[laughs]

- Mandy Moobs.

- Lame... sorry, lamé.

- I walk around the corner,

and I just see
everyone light up.

- Mother, lamé I?

- This look is the heightened
version of Mandy Moobs.

It is elegant, it's a little
bit cheeky, and it is gorgeous.

- Get a load of
those baked potatoes.

- This is decades of knowledge
and decades of experience.

- And the Oscar goes to...

Kyota, queens.

- Kyota.

- Aussie, Aussie, Aussie.

- Oi, oi, oi.

- I just wanted to say I'm
proud to call you my dolls.

This challenge... unbelievable.

Now, when I call your name,
please step forward.

Lazy Susan.

Max Drag Queen.

Any other week, you'd be top.

But this week, you're safe.

- Oh, my god.

- Back down, Lazy Susan!

[laughter]

You may leave the stage.

- Thank you, Michelle.

- Thank you.

[giggling]

- Queens, you represent the tops

and the bottoms of the week.

Now it's time for
the judges' critiques.

First up, Lucina Innocence.

- Lucina, darling, you look
absolutely gorgeous tonight.

However, the placement of
the roses is a little h*-hum.

- I agree with !sis.

Maybe the roses are a little
bit f*ck around and find out.

There's a lot at the top,
less down the bottom.

As a l*sbian, your
nails terrify me.

[laughter]

But, overall, I think you
look beautiful and elegant.

And your makeup is stunning.

- This construction
is beautiful.

I agree.

I think you could have
had a little bit more fun

with the pattern.

In order to take it
to a 10, you just

needed to give us
something different when

everybody else is around
the same batting average

and higher...
does that make sense?

- Yeah.

- Thank you, Lucina.

- Thank you.

- Up next, Nikita Iman.

- This is a masterclass
in sculpture and form.

The way that you have
created this arch of denim

is incredible.

And then all of this detail
with the paint's

really frickin' cool.

- Thank you.

- Very creative, and really
shows me who you are.

- Nikita, urban
street couture...

that's what you wanted it to be.

And you delivered.

Just the differentiation of
the textures that you used,

the hair, the fat chain...

it's all indicative
and representative

of street and urban fashion.

And I love that.

Honestly, it's remarkable.

Really well done.

- Thank you.

- Up next, Brenda Bressed.

- This is a really
well-constructed outfit.

However, I do think that
you've over-accessorised.

We've given you the note
before to make sure you edit.

- I'd like the
transition if it just

went a little bit smoother.

I love, like, a little
cheeky surprise like that.

- The construction is beautiful.

It's just the over-accessorising

almost cheapened it.

And I think I put that
solely on the glasses.

How are you feeling right now?

You seem a little bit
down on yourself.

- I think just, like, this
challenge was really hard.

I don't think
I expected to be, like,

so emotional about missing my
family and missing my partner.

I guess I didn't realise,
like, how much

I rely on them for support.

So...

- What you're experiencing
now is totally normal.

We are rooting for you,
and millions

of people that are
watching right now,

they're rooting for you too.

Rely on that to get you through.

Because you have the talent.

- Thank you.

- Up next, Vybe.

- I did textiles in high school,

and I remember having to make
a pencil case out of exactly

this type of fabric.

And it ruined my f*cking life.

- I only broke one needle.

- That's f*cking brilliant.

- I love the bow in the hair.

I don't know anything about
sewing or gaping holes, but...

[laughter]

- All right.

- You're with
the wrong women, G.

- I meant gaping holes
in sewing.

In life might be different.

- It could have
gone royally wrong.

But the way you put it
together is beautiful.

You should be proud of yourself.

Up next, Freya Armani.

- I want to commend you.

I know that this is
a really difficult challenge.

Unfortunately,
there are a couple of fit

issues around the knee area.

And your hem is quite uneven.

- I'm not sure what
the bottom is called.

I'm gonna call it a knee skirt.

I like the knee skirt.

- Thank you.

- I love it.

- Knee skirts are cool.

- Yeah.

- Now, when we talked
to you in the Werk Room,

you weren't going to go
this detailed, were you?

- No, I was going to go
the simpler dress.

And then I was like, I'm
going to challenge myself.

And it went really well.

[laughter]

- I think that, you know,
it's not the worst.

But the construction is
definitely not quite there.

Thank you, Freya.

Up next, Mandy Moobs.

[applause]

- I am absolutely
dumbfounded with wonder.

You're a f*cking icon.

This work is incredible.

- I don't love it.

[laughter]

- Oh, my god,
ditto, ditto, ditto.

It's like, a finale.

- I love your knee skirt.

[laughter]

I love the cheeky
butt cheeks, as well.

That was a good surprise.

- Did you make
the corset, as well?

- Yeah.

- You're outrageous.

f*ck you.

[laughter]

Everything about
the presentation

is just phenomenal.

You went with the right
hair, the right makeup,

you didn't over-accessorise.

You let the garment
speak for itself.

That's what a designer does.

How are you feeling right now?

- This is my passion.

Nothing makes me more happy
than to create garments.

And to hear such
high praises just

means I'm doing the right thing.

Thank you.

[applause]

- Thank you, queens.

I think we've heard enough.

While you untuck
in the Werk Room,

the judges and I
will deliberate.

You may leave the stage.

[engine revving]

- I think the best part
about what just happened

was that we would have been high

if it weren't for the excellent
sets on the stage.

So, technically,
we're in the top this week.

[laughter]

- With this group,
man, it feels hard.

- Yeah.

It's starting to piss me off.

- [laughs]

- I'm so mad about how
talented everyone is.

Who do I talk to about that?

I can hear the rustling
of cheap fabric.

Something's coming.

[cheering]

- Guess who's in the top!

- No, I'm just kidding.

- So, Mandy,
they hated your outfit?

- f*cking hated it so much.

- Of course Mandy got
a standing ovation.

- Yes!

- I don't know how to
express what I'm feeling.

It's a mixture of happiness,
overwhelmed

with pride with myself.

Just to hear all those
kind words from everyone

was very overwhelming.

I can't stop smiling.

It's just pure joy.

They also loved Nikita, as well.

- Nikita.
- Yes, queen.

- Thank you.
I'm so happy.

I'm so thrilled, especially
after last week's

natural disaster.

[laughter]

I'm just so, so
proud of myself and...

and Mandy as well.

You cannot deny what
Mandy has put together.

As much as I would love the win,

I feel like this challenge
has gone to Mandy.

But those critiques
that I got were

the critiques that I wanted.

And I'm proud of myself.

How about you, Luci?

How do you feel?

- [sighs heavily]

Just sick of being
the worst every week.

- You are not the
worst every week.

- It's not a case
of being the worst at all.

They keep saying how
good everyone is,

and that includes you.

- When I was thinking about
being in the bottom this week,

would I feel comfortable
going home dressed like this?

And the answer is yes,
because I feel like I did

everything humanly possible.

And I think you can
say the same thing.

You never gave up.

You came back even after
they f*cking knocked

you back and knocked you back.

And here you are.
Keep that confidence.

- Yeah.
Don't feel defeated.

Keep that fire within you.

- You can see that she's just
this really talented queen who

perhaps doesn't
yet have the voice

to push it through this thick
fog of loud drag queens.

I hope that she keeps her
heart in the competition,

because that's the sort of
sh*t that gets you sent home.

- Brenda, I just
want to check in.

Are you doing?

- [sighs heavily]
I'm just, like,

really, really missing my family

and my partner and everything.

- I know it's not the same,
but we are here...

- We got you.
- If you need.

- Thank you.

I feel, like, so much
love from all you girls,

and I really appreciate it.

It hurts.

To come off the win
last week and then

to go straight to the bottom
is a bit of a kick in the guts.

I need to go listen to
this lip sync, but...

- Yeah, babe.

- Whoever I'm up against,
you better f*cking bring it.

'Cause I'm not f*cking
going home tonight.

- f*ck, yes.

- Neither am I.

If I have to lip sync,
I'm ready to fight.

No, I'm not worried.

I'm good.

This is what I do weekly.

- Well, famously, you have
to stay here that week.

- I literally have to.

I don't another choice.

There is absolutely no chance
in hell that I'm going home.

No chance.

- [laughs]

- Now, just between us
platypussies,

what do you think?

Starting with Lucina Innocence.

- The outfit was
perfectly constructed.

Just the design of the flowers
left a little to be desired.

- I also want to see more from
her on the runway every week.

I want to see oomph.

- Yeah, maybe it just could
have gone a bit bigger.

It's just coming
down to that time

where we really got to bring it.

- Was it pretty?

Yes.

But if you're
lining them all up,

I don't think what she did
was groundbreaking in any way.

Let's move on to Nikita Iman.

- Nikita creates from the soul.

And it created something
really, really special.

- Otherworldly, like,
fashion runway quality.

- So much creativity.

So much art.

- Well, my gosh,
I did not expect

Nikita to turn that denim look
around the way that she did.

I love when drag surprises me.

Fantastic night tonight
for Nikita Iman.

Up next, Brenda Bressed.

- Brenda did really well
to construct a garment

that was next to perfect.

- She tried to overcomplicate
it a little bit.

She over-accessorised.

She had the reveal.

And it kind of meant that
what we were left with

was a lot of bells and whistles,

but not actually an
incredible design.

- I think the design could
have been a little bit more

crazy, interesting.

- We actually
liked what she did.

She just overdid it
in some aspects,

and it was a bit clunky.

Let's move on to Vybe.

- Vybe did really well tonight.

- She could have easily
relied on the fabric.

But she made some really lovely
choices and just a... muah.

- As soon as she came
out it was sparkle town.

It was so beautiful.

I think it was the only dress
that had a leg slit in it.

I don't know what
they're called, but...

- That's it.

Is that, G Flip.

- I got one right.

- You could see the work
that she put into it.

It was actually
really well-done.

I'm super proud of her.

Freya Armani.

- This was clearly not Freya's
week, and she knew that.

But there's something really
infectious about Freya.

- Love a knee skirt,
as you all know now.

But I would have liked
to see Freya really

flaunt it on the
runway and not let

the insecurities get to her.

- Probably my least favourite
on the runway tonight

when it comes to execution.

But I admire that gumption.

She went for it.

Up next, Mandy Moobs.

- The amount of time
and effort required

to create the garment
she wore tonight, she is

a force to be reckoned with.

And I cannot sing
her praises enough.

- This is too much
talent for one person.

It makes me sick.

- The knee skirt, fire.

The sleeves, fire.

The butt cheeks
being exposed, fire.

- Let's not forget
she made a friggin' corset.

- Mm-hmm.

- That is the first pff!

- There was so much
detail to it, as well.

And...

- Shut it!

Sounds like we've
made a decision.

Bring back our queens.

Welcome back, queens.

We've made some decisions.

[suspenseful music]

Mandy Moobs, this week,
you were breast in show.

Condragulations.

You are the winner of
this week's challenge.

[applause]

- Yes!

Ah!

That was such a big challenge
and I f*cking demolished it.

- You've won a $2,000 voucher
from Shoe Me.

- Oh!

- You may join the other girls.

[applause]

- Yay!

[laughs]

- Well done, babe.

- Yeah.

- Congratulations.

- Vybe...

- It's a tie, isn't it?

- Nikita Iman,
I'll see you at the Met Gala.

You're safe.

- Thank you.

- You may join the other girls.

- Good job, babe.

[suspenseful music]

- Lucina Innocence,
your floral gown was pretty,

but the judges still
want to see you bloom.

Brenda Bressed, we tasted your
rainbow and it was sweet...

and sour.

Freya Armani, this week,
your p*ssy was smoking,

but it wasn't on fire.

[suspenseful music]

Brenda Bressed, you're safe.

You may join the other girls.

- Thank you.

- Lucina, Freya,
I'm sorry, my dears,

but you're both up
for elimination.

Two beautiful queens
stand before me.

This is your last chance
to impress the judges

and save yourself
from elimination.

- Giving up is just
not an option for me.

I have to be here.

I need to be here.

Lucina does not stand
a chance against me right now.

Good luck.

- The time has come for you

to lip sync for your life.

- I know Freya is a dancer,
but I'm going to

channel all my emotions

and I am going to win
this thing.

- Good luck,
and don't f*ck it up.

[Moving Pictures'
"What About Me"]

- [singing]
Well, there's a little boy

Waiting at the counter

Of the corner shop

He's been waiting down there

Waiting half a day

He gets to his feet and he says

What about me

It isn't fair

I've had enough

Now I want my share

Can't you see I want to live

But you just take

More than you give

Take a stand back
and see the little people

They might be young

But they're the ones

That make the big people big

So listen as they whisper

What about me

Now I'm standing on the corner

All the world's gone home

Nobody's changed

Nobody's been saved

And I'm feeling cold and alone

I guess I'm lucky

I smile a lot

But sometimes I wish for more

Than I've got

What about me

It isn't fair

I've had enough

Now I want my share

Can't you see I want to live

But you just take more

You just take more

You just take more than you give

What about me

- Yeah, girls.

[cheers and applause]

- Well done.

- Queens,
we've made our decision.

[suspenseful music]

Freya Armani, shantay, you stay.

[applause]

- Well done, Freya.
- Thank you.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

- You may join the other girls.

- I love you, Luci.

- Lucina Innocence, we can't
wait to see your garden grow.

Now sashay away.

- Thank you so much
for this opportunity.

I've learned so much about
myself in this short time.

- Thank you.

[cheers and applause]

- I guess you'll have to
call me Lucina Competition.

[laughter]

- She's funny.

- I'm feeling extremely
disappointed, but just proud

of myself for continuing
the fight, no matter how

many times I got knocked down.

There's plenty more to come
from me in the future.

You'll just have to stay
tuned to find out

what's happening next.

- Condragulations, queens.

And remember, stop
relying on that body

and let your inner
light shine through.

Can I get a "excuse me"?

All: Excuse me!

- [laughs]

All right,
now let the music play.

[RuPaul's
"A Little Bit of Love"]

- [singing] A little bit of
love goes a long, long way

Lifting you up to a brighter day

Can you feel the love

- Next time on
"Drag Race Down Under"...

For this week's Maxi Challenge,

you need to make over
these lovely librarians.

- Oh.

- Shh.

- Is this what your work
looks like?

- Uh, well...

- Trust the shoes.

They're stronger than
you think they are.

- Some of the girls
in the Werk Room

are literally running
circles around Morgan.

- Get out of my way, Sarah!

- At one point, I couldn't tell
who was the librarian

and who was the queen.

- What?

- [laughs]

- This felt really special.

- That's a big revelation,
isn't it?

[RuPaul's "I'm a Winner, Baby"]

- [singing] Winner, baby

Oh, oh, oh

Winner, baby

Oh, oh, oh

Winner, baby

Oh, oh, oh

Playing with the game of love

Oh, oh, baby

Oh, baby, I'm a, I'm a winner
