- Previously on
"Drag Race Down Under"...
The library is about to be opened.
[cheering]
Please give a warm welcome
to some real life librarians.
- Oh.
- They all look so librarian... y.
[laughs]
You can do that.
- Get out of the way!
- Oh.
[cheering]
- Brenda Bressed,
when you do different hairstyles,
it automatically takes you
in different directions.
Max Drag Queen.
- There could have been
a little bit more story.
- Vybe.
- Buzzkill.
I was here for it.
- Nikita Iman.
I enjoyed every moment of your bringing
your island to this stage.
Vybe, Nikita, you both are the winners
of this week's challenge.
Max Drag Queen, shantay, you stay.
Brenda, my dear, sashay away.
[upbeat music]
- We've lost Brenda.
Lazy's crying. I'm crying.
Max is crying.
Everyone's upset, knowing
we've lost the heart of the season.
- I look around this Werk Room,
and I see queens I hardly know,
and I think, wow, that's beautiful.
Maybe.
[laughter]
You were all the most wonderful girls
I have ever had the pleasure of meeting,
and I will miss you all dearly.
- It's getting incredibly hard.
- I really thought
that she was someone that could
win this entire competition.
So that was... that sucked.
- It was gonna be
a tragedy no matter what,
and I'm really glad that you're here.
- If there's one
thing I can f*cking do right,
it's lip sync apparently, so.
- I didn't just send
home one of the frontrunners
for no reason.
It's so exhausting,
but there is only so many weeks left
of this competition,
and I know I have what it takes
to make it to the end.
- At least one
f*cking great thing did happen,
and that's both
of you got your f*cking flowers.
You, finally, and you.
f*ck yes.
- Mm-mm, mm-mm, mm-mm.
I won a challenge, yeah.
I'm so proud of myself. I did that.
- $3,500.
- Yes.
- That's how much I spent to get here.
[laughter]
- What?
Is that it?
- Well, Freya,
you had such positive critiques this week.
- Yeah.
Like, honestly,
it was just really nice just being
in the top for this challenge.
It was nice to just be in the top, period.
Finally.
I feel like my
momentum is really getting good,
and it's at the perfect
time in this competition.
I will say, though,
the energy feels so different.
This competition has
just gotten so much more real.
This is such
an incredible experience that we only get
to do for the first time once.
- Yeah.
- And I don't know
about y'all, but I don't want
to f*cking waste it anymore.
- No.
- Not at all.
- So f*ck this.
Let's get out of drag.
- We're dwindling down really quick.
Top six!
I will do whatever it f*cking takes.
There's so much to come off.
- Oh, my God. I survived.
[laughs]
- Freya Armani is a fighter.
I'm a warrior, b*tch.
- Just know, Vybe,
that win's 55% mine and 45% yours.
- Shut the f*ck up.
- If I have to push these
girls over, or throw some pearls,
I will do so.
- The winner of Drag Race Down Under
receives a one-year supply
of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics
and a cash prize of $50,000.
Tonight with !sis Avis Loren,
Rhys Nicholson,
and our extra special guest judge,
Matt Okine.
- [singing] RuPaul's Drag race
May the best drag queen win,
best drag queen win
[laughter]
- So it's a new week in the Werk Room,
and I'm coming off the back
of a fabulously well-deserved win.
- We see a winner, Vybe.
- Well, good morning.
Oh, what a sunshiny f*cking day it is.
[laughter]
But I did have to share it.
This week, I want my own win.
- It is a new day.
The sun is shining, and I'm feeling
like I am ready
to finally f*cking win something.
My God.
- Yes.
- I'm very, very tired,
but I'm not going anywhere.
I'm prepared to dig deep
and pull out whatever
energy I can to be here.
- Well, I think I am really
excited for what comes next.
I feel like I've kind
of followed in Nikita's
footsteps, bottom, top.
- I don't know if
you'll get that win, though.
- I think I might.
I think I might.
I can feel it in the air.
[siren wailing]
all: Oh!
- The triggering intensifies.
- Hello, hello, hello.
All:
Good morning, Miss Visage.
- My queens.
This week, it's all about the drama, mama.
- [gasps]
- Ooh.
- For today's Mini Challenge,
we're gonna do a classic
"Drag Race" acting exercise.
- Ooh.
- The fake b*tch slap.
- Ah!
- One at a time, you'll come up
to me, you'll throw me shade,
and I'll gift you with a fake b*tch slap.
Whoever has the most
enter-taint-ing reaction wins.
Sound like fun?
- Yes!
- All right, let's go.
Come on, Max.
Come on over.
[bell rings]
- Well, I do have a poem for you.
- Please.
- Roses are red, violets are blue.
God made me pretty.
What about you?
- [gasps]
[laughter]
- Is that all you got, Michelle?
- Oh, no, I've got more.
[laughter]
- I've been looking forward to this.
Michelle, I've really enjoyed
your critiques this season,
but when's the real judge coming?
- [gasps]
- When's Ru gonna turn up?
- Ah, ah.
[laughter]
Sorry, Michelle. Don't be so...
- Careful.
You'll lose a hand.
- Get back in line, Moobs, before I...
well...
- Later.
[laughter]
- Lazy Susan.
- Michelle Visage,
was Target having a sale?
- I don't know.
Was Woolworths?
[laughter]
Go on, Freya, hit me.
- Michelle Visage, in New Jersey,
do you need a license to be that ugly?
- [gasps]
Oh.
- What about Philly?
[laughter]
I'll give you a cheesesteak, b*tch.
Get in line.
- It's okay. It's okay.
- She's just so mean.
She's just so mean!
- Go ahead, Vybe.
- Well, Michelle,
just because you have one
doesn't mean you have to act like one.
- [chuckles]
- Ah!
You know what?
You do have something
in common with the g*y man.
- What is it?
- Mighty limp wrists.
- Get lost.
- Oh.
- Nikita.
- Michelle,
how can I possibly insult you
when Mother Nature's already done?
- [gasps]
- Mm.
- I have two words for you, Nikita.
- Mm-hmm.
- Snatch Game.
- b*tch, yes.
- Get out of here.
- Hmm.
- Hmm.
Well done, everyone.
It's about time somebody
fake slapped some sense into you.
Now, drum roll, please.
The winner of today's
Mini Challenge is...
Freya Armani!
[cheering]
You've won a two-night stay
and a dinner experience
from Hilton Auckland.
- [screams] Thank you, Hilton!
That's so cute.
I've won the Mini Challenge.
So whatever is coming
up next, I'm ready to sla...
ow.
- Ladykins, stars like Margot Robbie,
Kylie Minogue, and Liam Hemsworth
all started acting in soaps.
- [gasps]
- For this week's Maxi Challenge,
each of you will be auditioning
for the new over-the-top soap,
"Platypussies On Fire."
You'll be reading
for the character of Tutu Much.
- g*y.
- A manipulative drag queen, who will do
anything to win back her ex.
- Oh, not me.
- #DragRaceDownUnder.
- I don't wanna say this
is my challenge, because that
could be a curse in itself,
and I'm a very superstitious b*stard,
but I am excited for this challenge.
- You'll each be
working with the same script.
So you need to figure
out how to make the character
of Tutu Much your own.
Racers, start your engines,
and may the best drag queen...
all:
Win!
- You could hear a pin drop
in this Werk Room right now.
These girls are studying.
So it seems like Tutu is a woman
who's had her whole life upended
when she was going out
to buy some amyl and was hit on the head.
- [gasps] Stone the flaming crows.
My life is over.
I'm really excited for an acting challenge
because I studied theatre.
I studied film acting.
- So how are we gonna
make a point of difference?
- Exactly.
We all have the same script.
So it's really about
standing out, but yeah.
I wanna layer.
I wanna add more layers to her.
- The easy route would
just be a messy older woman.
Kind of, like, maybe a MILF.
And I feel like that's too safe.
Maybe like that, but, like, as a grandma.
- As a...
[chuckles] Oh, like, old, old.
- Yeah, like a...
- A GILF.
- A GILF.
- A grandma.
[laughter]
- What do you think is your point of view?
- I think...
- Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Let me start writing down.
- Oh, thank you.
- [laughs]
First time I'm ever
gonna audition for something.
First time acting for something.
First time reading a teleprompter.
First time learning a script.
- I'm really trying to think how
I can pad this out with props.
- Yeah, yeah, I'm thinking the same.
- Like, make this uniquely me,
but while also
being a different character.
- Me too.
I was really hoping
for an acting challenge
where we're paired up.
It's gonna go and go,
like, over, just over act.
- Yeah.
- And just really
try and have fun with it.
- What are you gonna wear? Do you know?
Like, what are you thinking?
- Well, I think the judges
have wanted to see something ugly.
So I'm gonna try to go
through Lazy's wardrobe.
- I'm thinking the same thing.
- [laughs]
- I may be polyamorous,
but at least I am not a throat goat.
[coughs] But you can
actually do your own one.
So, like, when it's like,
oh, when I did this with my hair,
and you could pick up
one of your human hairs
and just kind of slap it across his face.
A script is more
of a suggestion, in my book.
Make sure you're still
hitting the key story points so you're
not leaving your scene partner
out to sea, but, you know,
just the verbiage is not so important.
- Part of me wants to, like...
you know, this feels like the risk part.
Do me, but the whaling version
of me that's been here.
I've gone through the past few challenges,
like, putting on a brave face.
I lost my mum.
I went through a breakup.
Yeah, just trying
to pull on my past experiences
and dramatise it for this Tutu Much.
- That could be funny.
- I wanna go big.
- Yeah.
- How about you?
- I'm just trying
to get a placement on, like,
how Aussianna I wanna go.
What is the best woman
to shove into a cheap motel?
And that's to play
upper class, high status,
but then I look around the room,
and I see that that might be
something the other girls have.
I think Vybe might go
burnt-out Aussianna lady.
So I kind of wanna
make sure I stay off her toes.
I'm going to offer something different.
I'm gonna switch the script.
- Hey, queens.
- Good morning.
- Plot twist.
Playing the role
of a world famous thespian,
it's Hannah Conda.
[cheering]
- Hey!
- Hi, Vybe.
- So Miss Hannah Conda
walks in with her little hands,
and her little feet, and her little legs,
and she looks f*cking incredible.
- Wow.
Well, we can take the middle one down.
[laughter]
- Lazy Susan, Mandy Moobs,
and Freya Armani, come on over.
- I really need to push
myself and go to a very weird place.
I feel like that's
the route I'm gonna go down.
- So Mandy Moobs, who is Tutu Much to you?
- She is gonna be an adult baby.
- [laughs]
- Of course she is.
- Of course she is.
She's gonna be one of those child actors
that should have never left the role.
- Mandy's decided to be a baby.
It could misfire in a way
that becomes not creepy, ha-ha,
but creepy, very strange.
- Can I hear one part,
a sample of your character?
- [in baby voice]
I don't even know how to do my taxes.
- Yes, yes.
[laughter]
- Fabulous.
- Yeah.
- Go all the way with that.
Freya.
- I'm going for femme fatale seductress,
who's on the run from
the po-po because she's been stealing
too much sugar daddy money.
I've got a ton of experience
in theatre and being on stage.
- You're building
that up, aren't you, Freya?
[laughter]
Lazy Susan.
- I think I'm gonna base her
on my dad's old agent.
So, like, my dad's an actor,
and when his agent would call,
she was this Russian woman.
She'd be like...
[in Russian accent] Tell him we've got
the commercial for dish soap.
- Okay.
Tell me about your acting background.
- Um, I mean, like,
I really swore off acting
as much as possible,
watching my dad go
through being a working actor,
not like a famous actor,
and just getting
knocked back and knocked back.
- Rejection is 95%, 96% of what we do.
Gotta build that thick skin.
- And my dad was so
like... he didn't give a sh*t about
me being g*y or a drag queen.
He was like, just be funny!
- Is your father RuPaul?
[laughter]
In the script,
you're going through a myriad of emotions,
and I wanna remind you
that getting louder is not funnier.
It's not sadder.
It's not angrier.
Volume doesn't control intensity.
- I'm hoping if I just lean in
on a big, broad decision,
it'll pay off.
The only danger is if it becomes one note.
- Any questions for Hannah?
- When you're in a stressful challenge,
what's, like, your way of staying calm
so that you're staying in character
and still being present?
- I just found the best thing to do
was not second guess what I was doing.
It's a quick industry.
So just don't falter
from that gut instinct.
- Great.
- Thank you, Hannah.
- You're welcome.
- Vybe, Max Drag Queen,
Nikita Iman, come on over.
Wow.
Okay.
I am so jealous that you get to audition
for the role of Tutu Much.
- You can audition too.
- I would love to.
I would get it.
[laughter]
- Yeah, you don't want her auditioning.
- Max Drag Queen.
- I'm going to pull from what I have,
which is the seven stages of grief
and just go through that emotional
roller coaster with her.
- I wanna hear a little sample
of who Tutu is to you.
- Well...
- Bringing all of that human experience.
- A throuple?
[cackles]
Don't make me laugh.
[laughter]
- Are you able
to disconnect from that
pretty little head of yours
and allow yourself to just go for it?
- All I heard was
you say that I had a pretty head.
- But you need to allow yourself
to be present in there.
- Yeah.
I think that's gonna
be my biggest battle today.
I'm definitely hoping
to shake off this f*cking energy
and just, like, go ba*ls to the wall.
- Nikita,
who's Tutu Much to you, my darling?
- I kind of wanna go crazy auntie
recovering from an addiction.
[laughter]
Michelle was not laughing.
She was not giving.
In order for me to really give it,
I need to fully develop a character.
- Here we go.
- [raspily]
I didn't say I was a good drag queen.
- More.
- More?
I didn't say I was a good drag queen.
- Like, you've gotta
take it to that level every time.
- You're wig here,
like, moves with the laugh.
It's quite camp.
- Yeah.
- Those little intricate pieces of them
that make them
a little bit quirky and different
because that's where
the levels start to form.
The humanity of that character,
as ridiculous as it is,
I think that's where
you need to lean into.
- Who is Tutu Much to you, Vybe?
- The storyline is that she is kind of
like that tired out showgirl.
So as a drag queen who's also been
acting as a drag queen for over ten years,
my body's falling apart.
So I thought, f*ck it,
prop wise, what can fall off me,
and what can stay on?
- Prop humour is risky,
though, because it could...
- Commandeer everything.
- Or you get upstaged
by a bunch of plastic legs.
- I'm definitely trying
to think of how to maybe simplify
some of the prop use and just try
and give myself the best
chance at relaxing into the scene.
- Queens, listen up.
Later today, you'll each audition
for casting agent Rhys Nicholson.
- [gasps]
- Yay.
- And tomorrow, on the main stage,
you'll be joined by
our extra special guest judge,
a real dag, Matt Okine.
Hannah, would you do us the honours?
- Oh, I hope I get a pay rise for this.
Here we go.
Good luck, and don't f*ck it up!
[cheering]
- I feel like when I'm
in full head to toe crazy woman,
it will translate better.
So fingers crossed that comes through.
- If I get this, it's for you, Papa.
- I'm trying not
to settle into a character
that I go to as a backup,
which is that
Jennifer Coolidgey feel, but we'll see.
- One of us is gonna get
the role, and it's gonna be me.
Look out, Hollywood.
- Oh, Miss Armani, come on in.
May I call you Freya?
- Yes.
- Okay.
- You a cop?
- Well, legally, I'd have to tell you.
Um...
- Hi. How are you?
- I hear you got stuck in traffic.
- Yeah, I got stuck
in everything, actually.
- Glad you made it.
Let's slate you.
- Slate?
- A slate.
It's a professional film term.
- Sure.
- [gasps]
- Common mark.
- Common?
[whip cracks]
- And what was your name, and what role
will you be auditioning for?
- My name is Vybe,
and I'll be auditioning for Tutu Much.
- Wonderful.
Are you able to horseback ride?
[horse neighing]
Is there any special skills
you have
that you could bring to the sh**t?
- Um, I like to think
that I'm a foot above the rest
of the competition.
- I can count to five on cue.
- Okay, great. Count to five.
- Yeah.
One, two...
- Why don't we do, like,
a little vocal exercise together.
- Okay, yes, please.
- La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la.
- La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la.
- Awooga!
- Awooga!
- Awooga!
- Awooga!
- Awooga!
- Awoo!
- All right, places.
[knocking]
- Just one second.
- Tutu, it's me, your ex-boyfriend.
Are you alone?
- Get lost.
Back to pit!
Jesus.
[whimpering] Oh.
Okay, come in.
- I got your message.
What do you want?
- I've been right here.
I've been here by my lonesome.
- Cut, cut.
Do you want to tell them to leave?
- Oh, yes, totally.
Sorry.
[laughter]
- Come in.
- I got your message.
What do you want?
- I've been sitting here all on
my lonesome, waiting for you.
- My God, it's been ten years,
and you're as beautiful as ever.
- I was a fool
to leave you, but I'm back now.
- And I'm not gonna let anyone or anything
come between us ever again.
- But Tutu...
- Remember when you loved it
when I did this with my body?
- I used to do this for you.
- And I do this with my hair.
- Oh, and the way that I went up,
and down, and up,
and down, and up, and down,
and up, and down on your...
trampoline.
[crickets chirping]
- Well, when I say the word moist, moist.
Remember?
- Do you remember how I used to do that
thing you like... [sighs]
With my body?
Do you remember I used to do that thing
you like with my mouth?
- Remember how much you loved it
when I did this with my body?
- [laughs]
- And when I did this with my mouth?
- Remember how much
you loved it when we played our games?
Remember the tradie and the tuckshop lady?
You're like this?
I'll get you the meat pie
from the back and you choccy milk.
A sweaty little rissole for my boy.
- Whoa.
Wait a minute.
Ten years ago,
you went out for a bottle of amyl,
and you never came back,
and now you expect me to pretend
like nothing's happened?
- Me.
Me, me!
- Me, me, me.
- Me!
When I went out to buy that,
I was hit on the head,
and I woke up
in the butt-f*ck middle of nowhere!
- I was hit in the head
and ended up in butt-f*ck nowhere.
- [gasping]
To make money,
I had to stoop to the lowest of lows.
I become drag queen,
dancing to tawdry songs in the night.
I've been saving enough money
to try and get bus out of here.
Is the bus still running?
- For ten years?
- I didn't say I was a good drag queen.
Oh, but you know.
I was so desperate for money.
I...
- Just say it, Tutu.
- I... I auditioned for
"Drag Race Down Under!"
[sobbing]
- Season 3.
[sobbing]
- Oh, my God.
- After my abysmal performance
in the Snatch Game,
I escaped and came here, to you.
- After my abysmal
Snatch Game performance,
I played fortune telling dog
from Hungary, choo-choo.
I escaped,
and I came here, back to you, mi amor.
Spanish is my second language.
- But Tutu, it's too too late.
I'm in a throuple now.
- A throuple?
Don't make me laugh.
Ha. Ha.
Ha!
- [laughs]
- Ha, ha, ha.
- A dozen people couldn't
make love to you the way that I can.
- And we're in a committed relationship.
- Oh, really?
Well, last night,
I slept with your boyfriend.
- With your boyfriend last night.
- And then your other boyfriend.
- And then, after a long sausage break,
I slept with your other lover!
- So much for committed relationship.
- Knowing your powers
of seduction, I can forgive them,
but I can never forgive you.
I may be polyamorous,
but at least I'm not a throat goat.
- [coughs]
- [coughs]
- You leave the goat out of this.
- Ta-ta, Tutu.
- Stone the flaming crows!
My life is over.
- [sobbing]
- Oh!
Oh!
Oh!
- There's only one thing
left for me to do.
- Oh, Pit Crew.
- Oh, Pit Crew.
[dramatic music]
- There's only one thing left for me to
do,
go to TAFE
for lamp making, but until then,
oh, Pit Crew!
[farting noises]
- Oh, Pit Crew.
- And that's a cut.
How did that feel?
- I loved it. It was good.
I really enjoyed it.
- You enjoyed that?
You really felt like
you were in the scene?
- I felt like Meryl Streep.
- Yes.
We really enjoyed it.
Don't call us.
Do not call us.
- I don't have phone.
- I think it's a little one-note.
Yeah, peaks and troughs.
Thank you very much.
- Thank you.
- That was a real wild ride.
Well, look,
you took a different interpretation
of the script as some of the other girls,
I'll be honest.
- Would you say it was Tutu Much?
- It was... it was far Tutu Much.
- Okay.
Well, that's what I was going for.
- Did I get the role?
My mum's gonna be so proud.
[sobbing]
- We will call you.
No, it is another... there
is another three levels.
Thank you, Nikita. Thank you.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
- I'll call you.
- No, no.
You can leave now. Thank you.
Thank you.
- Thank you.
- Leave the breasts.
- Okay.
- No, no, you don't need to.
Thank you.
- Thank you.
- We'll call you.
- Okay.
[upbeat music]
- I'm just a baby.
- I really hope I got it.
- So it's a new day in the Werk Room.
- Acting challenge done.
- Yeah.
I don't know how the hell yesterday
went, to be completely honest.
- And Vybe has been
replaced by her evil sister, Bad Vybe.
- You have been really quiet.
- So quiet.
- And it's, like,
kind of scary because, usually,
you're the loudest person.
- Yeah, I know.
- She's sad. She's sullen.
She's brooding.
It's every teenager in 2009.
I don't know why this is happening.
- It's that thing of, like, you go home,
and you stew
on the pros and the cons, and...
- Oh, my God.
- At the end of the day,
like, we don't know
what was f*cking captured.
You know what I mean?
The acting challenge was
one of the challenges I was looking
forward to the most
in doing, and I'm worried
that I'm in trouble this week.
- Do you think you did the best you could?
- Absolutely not.
- Oh, really?
- No.
I feel like that's
because I stewed, got in my head,
and f*cked myself up, so.
- You, on a bad day,
is us firing on all ten cylinders.
- It's true.
- Did she light the set on fire?
Did she slap
Rhys Nicholson's mother across the face?
Like, what happened?
- Not knowing how we all went is so trippy
and having to wait.
- I had a wig, and I just went for it.
Hey.
- Story of my life.
- Yeah.
- Max, how are you feeling about it all?
- Um, I think y'all could feel, yesterday,
that my energy coming
off of last week was just...
I was really deflated.
I have nothing left to lose.
I was like, I'm just gonna go ham.
I'm gonna be stupid.
I'm gonna have fun with Rhys.
I truly think that I gave it my all.
- I got laughs,
but I think they were probably
laughing at the wrong things.
- Oh.
- They always say
the best time to start acting
is on national television.
- Absolutely.
- Yeah.
- I'm still waiting
on my callback from Rhys.
I feel like it may be
the time difference or something,
but I feel like it's coming.
I feel like I got the role.
I mean, I have a good feeling.
- All right.
- Let's put it on!
- Let's do it.
- Vyby.
How are you feeling?
- Yeah, good.
- It's honestly so weird to just
not have your voice around.
You know what I mean?
It normally, like,
fills the room and fills our hearts.
- No, I know.
I'm actively trying not to overthink.
- It was a bit of a shock
to the system to see Vybe so down.
- I'm not wanting to go anytime soon,
but I'm very excited at the thought
that it also means seeing the girls again.
- Your little drag family.
I did see the photos out.
- The last time I spent this
much time away from any of them
was when Coco came and did this show.
I f*cking miss them so much.
I've had Coco, and Ivy,
and Rumer, especially, with me
for over 12 years.
I'm definitely missing them, absolutely,
but, Coco, she would just say,
get the f*ck out of your head.
The only thing
that can f*ck me up here is me.
- I'm ready for a trip.
- Yeah, I'm ready for a holiday.
- Same.
- Do you do full time drag, Lazy,
or do you have another job?
- I used to.
I literally just quit my job,
like, earlier, last year.
- Yeah?
- I worked in advertising, but, in 2020,
my mum had, like, been sick
for a while with cancer.
She died.
- I'm sorry to hear, baby.
- Oh, God.
Like, COVID was
kicking off, but, like, we were
in a whole separate world.
- Yeah.
- You're not really ready to see
someone that is,
like, so central to your life
suddenly not there.
It's truly, truly the worst.
Like, before my mum died, she was
like, you need to go and actually
just let the world know.
Like, just do something with yourself
because there's nothing
that can stop you except for you
just not giving yourself permission.
When you become so aware
of how short it is, the time that
we have, you're like,
why are we wasting our time
doing anything except for the thing
that we wanna do?
I think I just took that as permission
to pursue my creative sh*t.
- Yeah.
- And it was so, like, scary.
It's been so scary.
- Yeah.
- And then, suddenly,
this call comes, and they're like, oh,
can you come and do drag
on TV, and da, da, da,
and actually get
to show more people your sh*t,
and that's exactly what I needed.
I think my mum would
be really proud that I'm here,
and I think she'd be so relieved
that at least there's this.
It's really weird now.
Every time something goes right,
or, like, you meet... like,
when I met my boyfriend, or anything
like that, I wanna call her
and tell her,
and be like this, you know?
And it's like, that person is gone,
and she doesn't get to see it.
- No.
- So it's like, I don't know.
- I'm so sorry.
- But, you know, it's good.
She'd f*cking love this.
She would.
Without getting hippy
dippy, or whatever the f*ck,
I feel very watched over in a kind of way.
[upbeat music]
- [singing] Cover girl,
put the bass in your walk
Head to toe,
let your whole body talk
And what?
- Welcome to the main stage
of "Drag Race Down Under."
Playing the role of a great star that's
about to be replaced by a younger queen,
it's !sis Avis Loren.
- I'm ready for my close up, Mr. Visage.
- [laughs]
Playing the role
of a lovable taxi driver and menace
to society, it's Rhys Nicholson.
- You talking to me?
Are you... Michelle,
are you... are you talk...
are you talk... is any... can
someone please talk to me?
Please.
- And for one night only,
reprising his role of Laurie,
the dolphin trainer,
on "H2O: Just Add Water,"
it's Matt Okine.
- I am flippin' excited to be here.
- We got a straight one, Michelle.
We got a straight one.
- We are so happy that you're here, Matt.
This week, we challenged our queens
to compete
with a starring role in the new soap,
"Platypussies On Fire."
And tonight, on the runway,
category is Liquid Dreams.
Racers, start your engines,
and may the best drag queen win.
- [singing]
Cause you're a star, baby!
- Category is Liquid Dreams.
Up first, Vybe.
Ooh, look, it's
the creature from the black dragoon.
- I know I've given
you very glamour and very
camp this entire season, but I'm getting
dark, ooky, and spooky.
- Wasn't I saying just
the other day, vinyl is back.
- It is, Rhys.
- I wanted to imagine what
it would look like if my body was
lifted out of this disgusting oil slick
suffocating my body as we go.
- I never gotta see the movie "Tar."
Did you?
[laughter]
Lazy Susan.
- She never mentioned she could do tap.
- I'll have a pale ale if you're serving.
[laughter]
- Oh!
She's wetting herself.
[laughter]
- I love a special effect on the runway.
I love to make a moment,
and this is my favourite trick.
- Wow.
- When it gets wet, the colours change.
She's brought to life.
- Oh, good, my pill's kicking in.
[laughter]
- I'm giving you acid fantasy.
I'm giving you the third day at Meredith,
and the colours start to bleed.
- I've heard of being into water sports,
but this is ridiculous.
- Nikita Iman.
The tide is low, but the hemline is high.
- I can see your C-section.
[laughter]
- I'm wearing a beautiful dress
that was passed down
by my drag mother, serving it to you
down the runway
nice and slowly so all
the judges can eat it up.
- The tide's slow this time of year.
- I'm giving you
the beautiful colours of the water
with an amazing
sculptural umbrella head piece.
- Now, that's what
I call an eroding beach line.
[laughter]
Mandy Moobs.
- Silver?
I don't even know her.
- I'm serving
an illusion of a puddle that's
just been hit with a stone.
Ta-da.
[laughs]
- She's spiralling!
- I think it's a lot like
my dishwasher at home.
It's a Whirlpool.
- I really wanted to give
a different silhouette this week.
It's giving
you a little bit of old glamour,
a bit of old Hollywood,
and I just feel classic.
- You heard of a poodle skirt?
This is a puddle skirt.
[laughter]
- Freya Armani.
- It's little h* peep.
- I am serving you
ancient water spirit couture, honey.
I've got my blue
and purple hues in this gorgeous dress,
and beautiful little silver petals
dripping down her hair.
- I'm getting Barney the Dinosaur vibes.
- You can't tell me a thing in this.
I mean, Liquid Dreams down, isn't it?
- Purple rain meets purple puddles.
Max Drag Queen.
- I've heard of a pearl necklace,
but this is ridiculous.
- Tonight on the runway, I am f*cking wet.
I am walking down
as a fashion masculatory emission.
- I don't know what
she said, but someone definitely
threw a drink in her face.
- I feel really elevated.
I feel really glamorous
and really expensive,
all the while representing
my favourite thing in the world.
c*m.
No, i'm j... [laughs]
- Aim for my t*ts.
- Oh, my God.
[laughter]
- Kira ora, queens.
All:
Kira ora.
- Aussie, Aussie, Aussie.
All:
Oi, oi, oi.
- [laughs]
It's time for the judges' critiques,
starting with Vybe.
- This look tonight,
you're like severe dark beauty,
and I f*cking love it.
- I love a look that is both sexy
and makes me wanna call Greenpeace.
- I would have liked
to see a little bit more intent
with the drapery around the edges.
It just... what?
What? Is that wrong?
- I love it.
- It's just very fancy.
- I love a...
I love a straight man with opinions.
- And I say this very kindly.
There was just the tiniest moment
that made me think it's someone who's
stepped out
of the toilet with toilet paper
still on their shoe.
- You got it.
- So... what's so funny?
- No, I love... I love it.
Never had a guest judge
just go in so much.
I'm very into it.
- You want my opinion, or what?
- In the challenge,
you were relying on props a little bit
and focusing less on the character.
Not a train wreck,
but just didn't quite get there.
- I just thought it was not as funny
as I thought you would be.
Does that resonate with you?
- Yeah, I've realised
I'm much better at improv.
- I know this is hard to believe,
but "Drag Race" scripts
are not Shakespeare.
- Yeah, I know.
- What?
- So feel free
to always make them your own.
Lazy Susan.
- You kept character
the whole way through.
You didn't drop your accent once.
- It was a lot of fun working with you.
- You added on top of the lines,
showing us levels and layers.
- Tonight, on the runway, again,
fashion and technology melding into one.
So, so cool.
- How did you think of this?
- I've always heard
of this ink that goes clear
when it gets dry,
and so I built everything
backwards from there.
This is my design.
- Oh, wow.
- Oh, wow.
- Wow.
- Thank you.
[chuckles]
- Nikita.
- I love the textures, the colours.
It's wonderful.
With the challenge, though,
we saw you struggle a little bit.
- We were having
these little jokes in between.
You were funny, and you were sharp,
and then we went back
into the actual challenge.
I think you were just
taking it a little bit too seriously.
- This look on the runway,
I want you to tell me about it.
- I brought it as a backup, and I am glad
that I was able
to wear it because it is something
that was passed down to me by
who I consider my mother of drag.
- It's beautiful,
and the hairstyle is so gorgeous.
I'm not sure it screams Liquid Dreams.
Up next, Mandy Moobs.
- This is a really wonderful caftan,
muumuu moment,
but when you're
spinning, a couple of times,
I could see your undergarments,
but the texture is gorgeous.
- I love the way
that it sort of shimmers in the light.
With the performance,
yeah, there's choices,
and then there's deciding
that a character is an adult baby.
- It was a risk, wasn't it, eh?
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
- It kind of tied you to one idea.
- I encouraged
you all to really go for it.
There is no such thing
as too big on "Drag Race."
Did you have a good time?
- I really did.
The only struggling
I had was just with the lines.
I've got a very smooth brain at times,
and it just did not sink in at all.
- Well, your skull is still developing.
- Yeah, yeah. Hey.
[laughter]
- Freya Armani.
- The light,
the playing of the fabrics is gorgeous,
but it didn't scream Liquid Dream to me,
but it's a beautiful garment.
As for the challenge, the choices you made
were really hilarious.
- You created a whole
different meaning to the scene.
- Your timing,
when you did flop down onto the floor,
it's brave to give
that silence for that long.
I was actually really impressed.
- I thought you did a wonderful job.
Tonight, I didn't get
Liquid Dreams, but I got beautiful.
- Thank you, Michelle.
- Max Drag Queen.
- This is ten out of ten, stunning.
- In the challenge, sometimes you
will confuse funny with loud.
It was not a slam dunk.
- It was very one note.
There has to be levels.
I wanted to see you
respond to what Rhys was giving you
in a different way so
you can give us those different sides
of Max, the actress.
We never got off level one.
With the runway,
I think frosted fabric on the bottom
is just beautiful.
You really know what you're doing.
- Thank you.
- Thank you, queens.
I think we've heard enough.
While you untuck in the Werk Room,
the judges and I will deliberate.
- My God.
- Yay. Let's get a drink.
- I'll have the pink straw.
[tense music]
- I don't think
anyone knows how to decipher
what we just heard.
- Yeah, you too, baby.
- How is everyone in the room feeling?
- I'm confused.
[laughs]
- I'm really confused.
Ultimately, I know that Michelle
thought that my
performance was, like, one level.
I'll have to watch
it back to agree with her,
but for right now,
I'm a little bit confused,
and Nikita doesn't
know if she's lip syncing.
Well, yeah, she does.
- I think I'm
definitely lip syncing tonight,
but for some reason,
I don't feel negative about it
because I'm proud of myself
for stepping out of my comfort zone
and really kind of just doing something
that I've never done before.
I'm not surprised by the critiques.
I mean, she's not an actress, obviously.
- Who do you think is in the top?
- Lazy, for sure.
- I hope so.
- I think it's Lazy, definitely.
- I felt like I disappeared
in the competition for a second there,
and now it does feel like I'm back.
- Yeah, it's definitely between you two.
I think that's very much the top,
and then it just gets confusing.
- Well, I guess it's me and Nikita.
I don't know.
- It's between, like,
quirky decision, one note,
lip syncing, and just
wasn't a train wreck, it wasn't bad.
- I lacked character, which was, you know,
the opposite of what I've
done this whole competition.
- Oh, f*ck me.
This is brutal.
- I haven't gone through this
process of being up for debate.
- Vybe, it would be
insane if you went home.
- And, like,
we didn't get to see each others.
That's the thing.
We're literally one week out from finale.
Just doing a good job is now not enough.
- With that being said,
should we learn the song?
- I'm finding it really,
really hard to navigate
what I'm feeling right now.
- Well, Lazy's never been below safe.
So maybe we should
throw her into the bottom.
Yeah.
This is for saying
you didn't like my couture gown, b*tch!
- Ah!
Oh! No!
- I just know
that I need to prepare myself
for what's to come next.
You're f*cking ugly.
- Ah! Oh.
- There is not a second in this song
that I haven't committed to memory.
I thought Linda was a better name!
- Ah!
Oh.
- If I can get the safe,
I'll f*cking take it, but if not,
get ready for a show.
Oh.
- Now, just between us
platypussies on fire, what do you think?
Starting with Vybe.
- I thought
she looked so ferociously fierce.
- The look on the runway
hit you straight in the face.
- She's always so
vibrant and full of colour.
Really great to see another side to Vybe.
- In the challenge, she kind of was
doubting herself at the moments when
she really shouldn't have been.
- I feel like I would
remember her for something
because she was a good actor.
Did she get this part? No.
Lazy Susan.
- She gave us a show.
- Something really out
of left field, really ingenious.
And listen, if you put her electrical mask
with this look tonight,
she would have exploded.
[laughter]
- In the acting challenge, she made
a bold choice
with the Eastern European character,
and I appreciated it.
- She gave us levels.
I thought, tonight, she was dynamic.
Nikita Iman.
- The dress left
a little bit to be desired,
but it was very creative.
- She said this dress was a backup choice,
and I think
that kind of showed a little bit.
- It's wonderful that it's a legacy piece.
- I love a legacy piece.
This jacket belonged to my neighbour.
He was buried in it.
- [laughs]
- Speaking of shovel and spade.
- Yes.
- I think, in the challenge,
it's a lot of energy.
I almost wanna tell her, sometimes
the best acting is
bringing yourself into the character.
I'm a terrible, terrible actor.
- No, you're not.
- But I've played myself in some
wonderful other people's costumes.
- You're a terrible person.
You're a great actor.
- Thank you.
- Watching her pulling her hair out
made me wanna pull my hair out.
It was very frustrating to watch.
I'm gonna say that Nikita might
be in a little bit of trouble.
- Oh.
- Oh, okay.
Mandy Moobs.
- Again, we could see the cogs turning,
trying to manoeuvre this character
and put it into the situation.
- Mandy made a choice that I think
said RIP to her chances
of getting this role.
[laughter]
- The runway, though,
this muumuu was maximalist.
- I don't think
the undergarments were obvious
until she twirled,
but all angles should be taken
into consideration, for sure.
I wish Rhys would wear
a few more undergarments.
- I'm wearing a diaper.
Is that an undergarment?
- That's good.
Freya Armani.
- She really leaned into
her character, and it paid off.
- She made these comedy choices, you know,
flipped the whole script on it,
and I think that was really smart.
- I was a bit iffy around
some of the sillier choices
that she made, doing this.
- She came in on the ground floor,
and she kept taking the elevator up.
Max Drag Queen.
- I think sometimes
these very beautiful girls
can confuse funny with loud.
I'm trying to pull more out of her,
and she kept kind of putting the block up
of, like, no,
these are the choices I've made.
Max, on the runway,
as always, absolutely stunning.
- I have so much love for Max,
but for me, in the challenge,
she missed the mark.
- I just feel like...
- All right, shut it.
Sounds like we've made a decision.
Bring back our queens.
Welcome back, queens.
We've made some decisions.
Freya Armani...
you are safe.
- Thank you.
- Lazy Susan.
The good news is, you got the part.
Condragulations.
You're the winner
of this week's challenge.
[clapping]
- I won again!
[laughs] I did not expect
to have three wins,
but, f*ck, it feels good.
- You've won a $2,500 gift card
from Glitter au Gogo.
The bad news,
"Platypussies On Fire" has been canceled.
- No!
- What?
- That's showbiz, kid.
- [laughs]
- You may step to the back of the stage.
- Thank you so much.
[dramatic music]
- Mandy Moobs.
Baby...
you're safe.
- Thank you.
- Vybe.
We wanted more vibe.
Nikita, we wanted less hair twirling.
Max, we wanted more levels.
Vybe...
you're safe.
Nikita, Max,
I'm sorry, my dears,
but you are up for elimination.
- I'm ready to put up a good fight.
I'm not gonna give Nikita this win.
- Two beautiful queens stand before me.
Ladies, this is your last chance
to impress the judges
and save yourself from elimination.
- I ain't going home, sister.
I'm here to the end.
So let's k*ll this.
- The time has come
for you to lip sync for your life!
Good luck, and don't f*ck it up.
[upbeat music]
- [singing] Bed, stay in bed
The feeling
of your skin locked in my head
Smoke, smoke me broke
I don't care
I'm down for what you want
Day drunk into the night
Wanna keep you here
'cause you dry my tears
Yeah
Summer lovin' and fights
How it is for us, and it's all because
Now if we're talking body,
you got a perfect one
So put it on me
Swear it won't take you long
If you love me right
We f*ck for life
On, and on, and on
- Max is serving classic Max.
Miss Nikita is serving sex siren down.
This really could go either way.
- [singing]
Day drunk into the night
Wanna keep you here,
and it's all because
Now if we're talking body,
you got a perfect one
So put it on me
Swear it won't take you long
If you love me right
We f*ck for life
On, and on, and on
Now if we're talking body,
you've got a perfect one
So put it on me
Swear we won't take you long
If you love me right
We f*ck for life
On, and on, and on
Now if we're talking body,
you got a perfect one
So put it on me
Swear it won't take you long
If you love me right
We f*ck for life
On, and on, and on
[cheering]
[clapping]
- Queens, we've made our decision.
Nikita Iman.
Shantay, you stay.
- You did it.
- Thank you.
- You may join the other girls.
My sweet Max,
your platypussy is
and will always be on fire.
Now, sashay away.
- Being here, I know that I have
absolutely made my mum proud.
I've made my mum proud.
Most importantly,
I've made myself very, very proud.
Love you.
[applause]
Well, I'm furious.
[laughter]
It was absolutely
an emotional roller coaster, being here.
Well.
The best thing that I could do right now
is just go home and heal.
I'm really proud
of everything that I've shown.
This is such
an incredible group of queens.
They've made me feel like I haven't lost
my support system at a time in which
I really, really need that.
I'm really forever
grateful for these girls.
[laughs]
- Condragulations, queens, and remember,
stop relying on that body,
and let that inner light shine through.
Can I get an "oh naur"?
All: Oh naur!
- [laughs]
Now, let the music play.
- [singing] A little bit of love
goes a long, long way
Lifting you up to a brighter day
Can you feel the love
- Next time on "Drag Race Down Under."
We're having a roast.
- Ah!
- b*tch.
- Never been to a roast.
Never seen a roast.
- Gosh, I'm a bit nervous.
I also wanna be as far away
from Vybe as possible.
- Don't get thrown off
your game now, in the top five.
- The roast... um...
- You were just like,
old, fat, lippy, g*y.
All right, I'm off. Bye.
- The distance between the two of you
is as thin as Rhys's lips.
