Title:Farewell, My Turnabout — nd Trial

- margin,M:I wonder if the trial's started yet...

M:I wanna eat some miso burger.

Sign:March District Court — Courtroom No.

ME:Witness, state your name and occupation.

DG:d*ck Gumshoe. I'm a detective down at the precinct.

ME:Very well, Detective. Lay out the case for us.

DG:Yes, sir!

:The incident occurred at : PM, March ,

:at the Gatewater Imperial Hotel.

:The victim's name is Juan Corrida.

:He was at the hotel to attend the Hero of Heroes awards ceremony

:as the Jammin' Ninja.

:The crime scene was the victim's dressing room,

:and the cause of death was strangulation, using his scarf.

PW:Strangulation?

J:The defense may begin its cross-examination.

Testimony,Sign:Cross-Examination

PW:On the night of the m*rder,

PW:didn't you say the cause of death was the stab wound to the chest?

DG:Take a look at this photo, pal.

DG:As you can see, the knife stands out.

DG:But the autopsy report clarified that he'd been strangled first.

PW:And what about the knife?

DG:It seems to have been deliberately stuck in the victim's chest post-mortem.

ME:Why did the police arrest Matt Engarde?

DG:Sir, Engarde's fingerprints were all over the knife.

J:What? Fingerprints?

DG:Besides, the defendant and victim were on famously bad terms.

DG:The defendant procured the knife in advance,

DG:prepared for the crime, and ex*cuted it.

DG:In other words, it's premeditated m*rder.

Objection,Sign:Objection!

PW:Objection!

PW:Take a good look at the knife's handle.

PW:The hotel's seal is on it.

PW:It was hotel property, not something bought beforehand.

PW:Which means you cannot state this m*rder was premeditated!

DG:H-Huh?

LB:All right!

Objection,Sign:Objection!

ME:Objection!

ME:It goes without saying that this knife is hotel property.

ME:The prosecution is not dense enough to fail to notice.

DG:But I didn't know...

ME:The issue is this, right here.

ME:The table in the victim's room.

ME:A knife and a fork are on it.

J:True.

ME:Meanwhile, this is the room of the defendant, Matt Engarde.

ME:You can see that something is missing...

J:There's no knife!

ME:That means the defendant readied a weapon and went to the victim's room.

ME:This was, most definitely, premeditated m*rder!

J:Amazing, Prosecutor Edgeworth!

J:A brilliantly clear deduction!

ME:Next, I would like to call a witness who will prove the defendant's guilt.

PW:A witness?

OB:Edgey-poo!

OB:I've missed you so much! Handsome as ever!

OB:You're the best! Call me "Wendy," please!

PW:Ms. Oldbag...

W:Witness, your name and occupation.

OB:Wendy Oldbag. Security at Hotel Gatewater.

Sign:Hotel Gatewater Security — Wendy Oldbag

OB:Engarde!

OB:How dare you k*ll my dear Juan?!

OB:I'm going to avenge him!

OB:Ratta-tat-tat-tat...

J:Witness, please refrain from pointing that dangerous-looking ray g*n at others!

OB:Shut up, Gramps!

OB:You eat this, too!

:Ratta-tat-tat.

J:Oof!

ME:Witness, please testify what you saw on security detail the night of the m*rder.

OB:Oh, I'll tell you anything and everything.

OB:That night, after the ceremony,

OB:I went to pace in the hallway in front of Juan's room.

OB:That's when someone showed up.

OB:It was Engarde, trying to sneak his way out of the room!

En:You're lying! I never went there!

OB:Not so fast. I saw it with my own eyes.

OB:You were there!

P:No... What should we do?

J:Defense, your cross-examination, please.

Testimony,Sign:Cross-Examination

PW:Engarde stated that at the time of the m*rder,

PW:he was asleep in his room, in the Nickel Samurai costume.

OB:Lies!

OB:I've got decisive evidence!

LB:Hey, that's my camera!

OB:Finders keepers, losers weepers.

OB:I found a rather curious picture on it,

OB:so I made it my sec-ret we-a-pon.

PW:S-Secret weapon...

ME:Witness!

ME:Why would you keep this from me as well?

OB:It's a surprise filled with love, my dear.

PW:So he's a victim, too...

J:Then, show us the photographic proof.

J:Th-Th-This is...

P:The Nickel Samurai?

OB:How do you like my photo?

LB:Seriously, that's mine!

LB:That's Engarde, no matter how you look at it!

Objection,Sign:Objection!

PW:Objection!

PW:How could you possibly think that's Engarde?

PW:All you can see is the Nickel Samurai!

OB:But he said he was in the Nickel Samurai costume, right?

OB:He stabbed Juan without removing it!

Objection,Sign:Objection!

PW:Objection!

PW:That can't be right!

OB:Ratta-tat-tat-tat...

PW:There's a clear contradiction!

J:Wh-What do you mean?

PW:The knife has my client's fingerprints all over it.

PW:If he'd used it while in the costume,

PW:there's no way he would've left any!

PW:What that means is

PW:that the real k*ller may have planted these fingerprints!

OB:Edgey-poo! Save me!

Objection,Sign:Objection!

ME:Objection!

ME:The defendant went to the crime scene in costume so he wouldn't be seen.

ME:There, he removed it to commit the m*rder.

ME:That is all.

PW:Then he'd have stuck out like a sore thumb!

ME:Regardless, if you claim this isn't the defendant, Engarde,

ME:show us the basis for your confidence, Defense.

PW:What's this?

NS:It is I!

PW:This Nickel Samurai really isn't Engarde!

PW:Pearl!

P:Right.

PW:Take a look at the Nickel Samurai's feet.

J:Wh-What is that?

OB:Their heights are completely different!

PW:In other words, the person in the costume was much shorter than the defendant.

P:The prosecutor seems totally unaffected.

ME:Then, let me ask you... Who is the person in this photograph?

PW:There's one person who could've taken the knife from Engarde's room then.

PW:The defendant's manager,

PW:Adrian Andrews!

En:No way!

PW:She's also diminutive, so she fits all the criteria!

PW:Your Honor,

PW:the defense demands that Adrian Andrews be called to the stand!

J:Prosecutor Edgeworth?

J:What do you say?

ME:The prosecution sees no reason to object.

PW:What are you thinking, Edgeworth?

ME:Witness, your name and occupation.

AA:I am Adrian Andrews,

Sign:Matt Engarde's Manager — Adrian Andrews

AA:Matt Engarde's manager.

PW:This is where it gets real.

PW:Ms. Andrews, the first one to find the body...

AA:It was me, yes.

J:Some media has reported that you and the victim were quite, uh, "close."

AA:That is true.

PW:Even though Corrida was Engarde's rival?

AA:Personal and professional lives are different.

PW:That night, after the ceremony,

PW:the Nickel Samurai was supposed to hold a press conference,

PW:but Engarde had no idea about it.

PW:And one more thing.

PW:When the Nickel Samurai came out of the crime scene,

PW:Engarde was supposedly asleep in his room, wearing the costume.

PW:From these facts, we can conclude that...

AA:Yes.

AA:There were actually two Nickel Samurai costumes at the hotel that night.

J:Two costumes?

AA:I prepared a spare.

PW:Then, the press conference was...

AA:Juan was going to hold the press conference as the Nickel Samurai.

AA:And he was going to confess something.

J:Order! Order!

AA:I arranged the press conference without telling Matt about it.

PW:I knew it.

AA:Juan was planning to ruin Matt if he lost this year's Grand Prix.

AA:He knew a secret that could destroy Matt's career.

PW:And what was this secret?

AA:I refuse to testify.

AA:Under the law, I can't be forced to testify if it might incriminate me.

ME:Yes, witnesses do have the right to refuse.

PW:Most people wouldn't think to plead the fifth on the spot.

Fran:Think about what I said.

AA:Sure.

PW:So she put her up to this.

PW:Why refuse to testify? Is there a reason you can't?

AA:W-Well...

PW:You could've easily taken the knife with Engarde's fingerprints.

PW:And you knew there was a spare costume,

PW:so you could've used it to frame him!

AA:Stop...

PW:This is you, isn't it?

PW:Adrian Andrews, you m*rder*d Juan Corrida,

PW:and tried to frame the defendant, correct?

AA:I... refuse to testify.

C:So it was her.

J:Order!

ME:Your Honor,

ME:it seems this witness has nothing more to testify.

J:Yes.

J:There's nothing we can do.

PW:Please wait!

PW:The cross-examination isn't over!

J:As long as this witness refuses to testify,

J:the trial cannot go on.

PW:B-But...

ME:Give it up!

ME:Currently, there isn't enough evidence to indict Adrian Andrews.

PW:Isn't there something I can use? Maya's going to...

ME:Why are you in such a rush, Wright?

PW:What the hell would you know?!

P:Nick...

J:Since further investigation is required,

J:this trial will be extended till tomorrow.

PW:No!

PW:I beg you! Please don't end this session!

J:That's all for today's trial.

P:Mystic Maya!

PW:Today's trial...

PW:It's over.

PW:Is that you, De k*ller?

DK:Looks like my present was in vain.

PW:Wait! I haven't lost yet!

DK:Oh? Not a gracious loser, are we?

PW:Give me more time!

PW:Tomorrow, for sure...

DK:Very well.

DK:But this is your last chance.

P:Nick!

En:You almost had it...

PW:I'm sorry, Mr. Engarde.

En:Please win tomorrow.

En:I'm the guy who's as refreshing as the spring breeze, you know.

PW:Right.

En:Oh, also, could you drop by my place?

En:I need someone to feed Shoe.

En:She's my pet cat.

P:Shoe?

En:I haven't been home in a while, so I'm sure she's starving.

P:That's terrible! We should go at once!

:Yeah.

ME:Witness!

ME:Show me that card.

ME:The one you have in your notebook.

AA:Here.

ME:Where did you find this?

AA:In Juan's room.

AA:I found it lying next to his body.

ME:Excuse me.

ME:Wright!

ME:What was that all about?

ME:You were clearly acting strange when the trial was about to adjourned.

ME:Is something the matter?

ME:Let's talk elsewhere.

ME:Kidnapped?!

PW:The kidnapper demanded Engarde's acquittal.

ME:So that's it.

ME:Shelly De k*ller.

ME:A top-rate assassin that a special investigation team

ME:has been pursuing for ages.

:An assassin?

P:Then, that brute kidnapped Mystic Maya?

ME:He makes sure to leave this calling card by the body of his victims

ME:to make it known that he was responsible.

P:What a show-off!

ME:There is another purpose to this.

ME:It's part of his duty to his clients.

PW:His duty?

ME:He dislikes his clients being accused of m*rder more than anything.

PW:I see.

PW:If his calling card is at the scene, it'll be clear he was responsible.

ME:He protects his clients by any means necessary.

ME:That is the moral code he lives by.

PW:Then, the one who contracted him to k*ll Corrida was...

ME:The man he is trying to protect, even going as far as kidnapping,

ME:Matt Engarde.

PW:I-It can't be...

M:I wanna eat a deep-fried burger.

M:This could come in handy.

M:I did it! I'm a genius!

M:A video?

M:What a pretty lady.

M:"With love, Celeste"?

M:Oh, this simply will not do.

M:I cannot have you wandering around.

P:Could he have really...

PW:A bear?

P:Oh, this must be Shoe. How cute.

PW:All right, just wait.

DK:If you don't mind my asking, who might you be?

PW:Oh, I'm Wright, a lawyer.

PW:Mr. Engarde asked me to feed his cat.

DK:Ah, so you are the master's...

DK:I'm his butler.

PW:He has a butler?

DK:Yes.

DK:Please don't worry about the cat.

DK:I shall take good care of her.

DK:Well, then.

DK:Please... Master's life is in your hands...

P:That's strange.

P:If he had a butler, why not just say so?

PW:Pearl, let's check the crime scene again.

PW:Edgeworth?

DG:Hey, pal!

DG:This area is off-limits!

:What the hell?!

ME:It's off-limits to you now, Detective!

DG:I'm very sorry...

PW:What's wrong?

P:Its eye!

ME:Wait.

ME:Is this a miniature camera?

PW:A camera?

ME:A transmitter is attached.

ME:Someone was secretly filming this room.

PW:Filming?

PW:Could it be a crazy fan?

ME:This bothers me.

ME:If that teddy bear was here on the night of the m*rder...

PW:It could have caught the m*rder on film!

ME:This appears to be rather expensive.

ME:If we trace the import channels, we might learn who sent it.

PW:I'll get right on it.

ME:I shall take care of it.

ME:You have something more important to do.

PW:Edgeworth...

M:This is my last chocolate.

M:I wanna eat a pork chop burger...

AA:I refuse to testify.

PW:Just what is she hiding?

P:Mystic Maya must be starving right now.

DG:The wait's over, pal.

DG:We figured out who sent that teddy bear!

PW:That was quick.

DG:Don't look down on us cops.

DG:Prosecutor Edgeworth sent this for you.

DG:Wow, how considerate.

DG:I've been running around, so I'm starving!

DG:U-Uh, I'm sorry!

DG:So it was for her...

DG:Er, I'm so sorry, pal!

P:Nick?

En:What brings you here so late?

PW:Corrida's room was being secretly filmed.

:Filmed?

PW:A camera and transmitter was hidden in a teddy bear presented to him.

En:How scary.

En:Fans these days can get pretty extreme.

PW:I wouldn't say that.

PW:The person who sent that bear

PW:was you, Engarde!

En:What proof do you have?

PW:This is a credit card receipt.

PW:Apparently, that bear is a rare, imported luxury item,

PW:so learning who bought it was easy.

En:Congratulations on figuring that out.

PW:Engarde, do you know Shelly De k*ller?

En:De k*ller?

En:Beats me.

PW:I think you know.

PW:Because the one who contracted De k*ller to k*ll Corrida

PW:was you, Engarde!

PW:And you filmed the moment of the m*rder with this camera.

PW:Am I wrong?

PW:Please...

PW:Say it isn't true.

PW:Engarde?

En:Oh, sorry.

En:Guess it's time for you to meet him now.

En:How do you do, Lawyer?

En:I am Matt Engarde!

Show,Sign:Ace Attorney

PW:Objection!

PW:Matt Engarde, the defendant who pled not guilty...

PW:He was actually the mastermind who contracted De k*ller to k*ll Juan Corrida

PW:If I get him convicted, Maya will...

PW:But he's the furthest thing from innocent.

PW:What is an attorney?

PW:What is justice?

PW:How should I fight, Edgeworth?

PW:Find the contradictions!

PW:Reach out to the truth!
