have just been dropped off
on a remote tropical island

off the coast of Panama.

[Mary] I honestly feel like
I've trained my whole life for this

without even realizing it.

[Halle] This is gonna
teach me a lot about who I am.

There's no way
to really simulate this in real life.

[narrator] All have unique backgrounds.

I played in the National Football League
for five years.

[Ben] I'm a former federal agent.

[Pharaoh] I've won five
alligator-wrestling competitions,

and I'm here to win Outlast now.

We're out here for a million dollars,
and I'm winning that.

I'm so determined to come home,
call my mom.

You know, "We made it.
Everything's gonna be okay."

[helicopter blades whirring]

[intriguing music playing]

"Welcome to Outlast,
the survival game with only one rule."

"You must be on a team
in order to win a million-dollar prize."

"You can remove yourself at any time

by a majority vote from your team,

you have 24 hours
to be accepted by another,

"Each camp has a surplus of one primary
resource important for survival."

[Braxton] It's going over that way.

- [Maddy] "Green, fire."

- [Brett] I say fire is the most important.
- But you need to be off the ground.

[Maddy] "Yellow, hunting."

"Which one do you choose?"

- [Brett] Yo, but there's only three…
- That means it's uneven teams.

- [Maddy] "Go to it."
- [music ends]

"The game starts now."

[helicopter fading into distance]

Yeah, I guess let's go.

- [Morgan] Which one are you guys going to?
- I don't know.

It's hard to build hunting materials.

- You can't. Hunting.
- You can build shelter.

[narrator] All three camps
share the same shoreline,

and are 2.5 kilometers from one another.

[Braxton] I like the palm trees
over there, honestly.

- It's an obvious choice, right?
- I'm going shelter. Shelter?

- I'm going blue.
- I'm getting fire.

You look all types of confused.

I think I'm hunting.

I'm going shelter too.

Honestly, I was pretty torn
between fire and hunting,

but stronger energy
was pulling me to hunting.

I felt like everyone looked stronger,
everyone looked fitter.

[narrator] As the players fan out
across the game board…

- Jump. Oh yeah!

- [laughs]
- Whoo-hoo!

[narrator] …their first task
is to locate the resource drop

at their chosen campsite.

What's everyone's strengths here?

- Hunting. That's why I'm going that way.
- Hunting? Bet.

Bow hunting
is kind of a way of life to me.

It's something I do every day,

and if I'm not doing it,
I'm thinking about it every day.

[Ben] What's-- What's our color?

- [Halle and Dave] Yellow.
- [Ben] Yellow. Okay.

- [Halle] Why do I feel we're gonna thrive?
- [Dave] We're gonna [bleeping] k*ll it.

I knew I wanted to be
on a team of skilled hunters

because I'm not a born and bred hunter.

So, I knew that I needed help
with procuring that food.

[Maddy] Y'all got a lot of mouths
to feed over in fire!

[Dave] Hey, don't make them
second-guess themselves.

[laughter]

[Pharaoh] Hey. Let's go.

- Get a fire started immediately.
- [Marshall] Sounds great.

[Sean] This is the most important decision
I'm gonna make for the whole game.

There's an opening up here.
We can cut over.

For me personally,
fire had to be the choice.

[Marshall] Fire is the key
to the million-dollar prize for sure.

- [Mary] I'm happy with this team.
- [Sean] Yeah.

All the ferro rods, hopefully.

[narrator] And for Charlie's
shelter advantage, they are given tarps…

This is gonna be good
for building shelter off-ground.

[narrator] Lastly, at the bottom
of the supply crate,

all three teams are given a note…

So, she gets to choose us.

The note says, "If you are reading this,
you have to choose your five players,"

and I need to eliminate someone.

[nervous laughter] Pressure on you.

I'm not an alpha male
that's gonna go out of his way

to be aggressive and c*ck,
and that's just not me,

but I naturally gravitate towards
a leadership role anyway,

and so I really want to make sure that
we can set up the best camp in the game.

So my first move has to be,

let me get to know these people
as much as possible in a few seconds,

and then ping one of them
off the game board.

[tense music ends]

Well, let's talk about skill sets.

Talk to me.

So, basically, I've worked
six, seven years in the Everglades.

I've taught how the natives
used to live off the land.

Did alligator shows, tours.

I don't know who he's gonna pick.
He's looking at me.

I'm a little bit nervous here.
But I'm an alligator wrestler in Florida,

and I think some of that's gonna help me
here in this hot, humid environment.

We got an alligator wrestler.
I like that. Okay.

- Two alligator wrestlers.
- Oh wow.

- [Morgan] Do we now?
- Yeah. I work, um, at a sanctuary.

Wow.

When people first meet me, they probably
think that I'm more, like, down-to-earth,

more calm, more level-headed.

But I have a bunch of weird hobbies
that nobody else really does.

I am an archer.

I'm a freediver who also knows
how to spearfish and make my own spear.

I can also craft things for shelters,

and identify a bunch of different fruits
in this environment.

- Okay. Yeah.

[Sean] Abby, I'm getting some really tough
and resilient vibes from her.

Right off the bat, she's not
the first person I want to eliminate.

fitting into the slot for hunter.

k*lled over 40 deer, 20 pigs, 10 turkey.

That's a perk.

And Pharaoh tells me
that he wrestles alligators.

Likewise, I thrive in the outdoors.

I've been living in a van
and sailboat for five years.

- So I chronically am outside and camping.

I have never been hunting
in my entire life,

and I'm terrified of crocodiles.

[laughing]

I travel up and down the coast
of California working on farms.

[chuckling] So, yeah.

But I'm extremely crafty. I'm scrappy.

And you'll literally have to chop off
my hand with a machete or something

to get me out of this game.

[Morgan] I'm thinking in my head,

like, acting just like very suspicious,

And I just did me.

I was born and raised in Florida
my whole life in the swamp lands.

I told him I'm a swamp creature
from Myakka City, Florida.

My nickname to other people
is literally "Beefcake."

I know how to fish, hunt, forage.
I know how to make cordage, build shelter.

and in my head I'm just like, "Pick Mary."

It's a tough one.

I've also lived in
tropical regions before, so…

This is my element, I would say.

As far as foraging goes,
what does everybody know?

I'm used to the elements here,
and I can eye out the fruits in the area.

I have been a plant enthusiast
for 17 years now.

- I'm well aware of what we need to eat.
- I would say that as well.

I've had pet alligators.

Well, I have crafting skills.
I can weave palm fronds.

- I also know how to weave too.
- [Sean] Cool.

When you're traveling around
in Costa Rica, are you hitting markets,

or are you out and about
picking stuff and foraging?

- Farmer's markets, I would say.
- [Sean] Okay.

[Marshall] It is a tough decision
who to kick off the team,

but I'm gonna stay out of it because

I am 99.9% sure…
that he's not kicking me off.

I'm not bottom of the totem pole

I'm really nervous to try
to sell myself to a different team.

But I'm not willing to give up.

I still have 24 hours
before I have to flare out.

in different challenging scenarios.

I'm confident in my ability to bushcraft,

and hunt and fish my way
into enough calories to keep going.

When I showed up at Alpha,
they didn't have much of a shelter.

It was just some palm fronds
that they gathered and laid on the ground.

I'm very competitive.
I don't like to lose.

So I'm not underestimating anyone.

Personally, I'm not willing

But can I ask what your reasoning is

We like the bow and arrow,
just not as much as the ferro rod.
