10x27 - The Road to 70 Million

Post by bunniefuu »

Narrator:
on this "Gold Rush"...

Whoa!

Narrator: ...10 YEARS
of hunting for gold.

That's what I call
a big nugget.

It's just gold fever.

Are you excited?

Narrator:
the biggest moments...

I'm running the Yukon.

Look at all that good stuff.

-Whoa!
-[ laughs ]

Narrator:
...as modern day pioneers...

You're all millionaires,

The only thing is you got
to get it out of the ground.

It can't be that complicated.

Whoa.

Narrator: ...seek their fortunes
at the edges of civilization.

We're not in Kansas anymore.

Look out!

[ expl*si*n ]

Narrator: we reveal
the most dangerous...

-Hunter!
-Whoa!

[ bleep ]

Narrator: ...dramatic...

Hit the bypass!

Narrator:
...and outrageous events...

Dave!

Don't talk to me that way.

Give me one good reason
not to tell you

To go [bleep] Yourself.

Narrator: ...of a decade
hunting for gold.

[ cheering ]

Perfect.

Narrator: counting down

The 10 biggest "Gold Rush"
highlights.

There isn't one man in America

Wouldn't want to be here
with us.

When it comes to gold mining,
the clean up...

Oh, look at that.
This is really good down here.

Gold in them there hills.

Narrator: ...that moment
when all the hard work

Pays off...

Look at it, it's huge.

Narrator:
...is everything.

I've never seen that
much gold in the pan.

Narrator:
...but it's never guaranteed.

Big deal, you know, I mean,
it's hardly worth doing.

That is terrible.

Narrator: AT NUMBER 10,

After striking out on his own,
rookie mine boss,

Rick ness, risks everything
in search of a monster clean up

For his crew
of hometown friends.

Here, guys, is our freedom.

-Now this is awesome.
-Wow!

Yeah, man.

Narrator: Rick spends
big on a new wash plant.

I christen thee durt Reynolds.

Fire it up.

[ engine starts ]

All right, I'm gonna
put a bucket of dirt in.

Narrator: but after just
one bucket of pay...

Hit the bypass.

Narrator:
...disaster strikes.

Hit the bypass!

Our sluice box is laying down
in the bottom of the hill.

I think it's time for me
to call in some help.

Yeah.

Narrator: 40-YEAR
mining veteran, Freddy Dodge...

How's it going, Rick?

Narrator:
...comes to the rescue.

Freddy, man, am I glad
to see you, buddy.

Holy [bleep].
It's been too long.

We need to get long
sluice boxes on it,

Not those 10-foot little things
you got there.

Narrator: Freddy and the crew
work a 15-hour shift

To turn junkyard spare parts
into a workable sluice.

I never would have thought
that our season would be resting

On a bunch of rusty garbage.

Narrator: Rick's whole career

Now rests on whether
Freddy's fix works.

Here we are.
It's a big [bleep] Moment here.

I know there's
betting on gold, right,

But you know what, I think
we're about to see results.

This is it.
Let's [bleep] Turn it on.

Fire it up.

[ engine starts ]

-You gonna put some dirt in it?
-Feed the beast.

[ laughs ]

Sluice box is still in place.
That's a good sign.

It's running.

It's like we're finally
gold mining, man.

Do, do, do!

Narrator:
after two days running,

It's time to see
if the crew's hard work

Has put their first ever gold
in the sluice box.

[Bleep] Damn.
I can't see [bleep].

[ exhales ]

-There's a bunch right here.
-I can see it.

-[ laughing ]
-Right there.

Nice. Look at that.

Finally, this is --

This is what we've been
waiting on right here.

There's good gold deep
in the carpet over here, guys.

So it's running pretty good.

-First little nugget.
-That's an earring nugget.

I might have to hold
on to this one, actually.

We all came up here for this

And to actually see it
in the sluice box,

Knowing we worked for this.

Guys, we got [bleep] Gold
in the box.

-Yeah.
-Yee hee hee.

Narrator: Rick's first gold
weigh as mine boss.

It's 30.28.

-Yeah!
-Yeah!

-Whoo-hoo!
-Yes!

You guys got to see
the first gold

That you ever got to dig
out of the ground yourselves.

You guys
will never forget that.

You're officially
gold miners right now.

Yeah, Freddy!

[ laughs ]

Narrator: the quest for gold
is often a family business.

I think it's gonna
break through.

There she goes!

It's working just
how we planned it.

Good job, guys.
We'll build a run pretty quick.

Narrator: fathers and sons
working together.

I don't know that
I can get it any closer.

Put it in the back
of your bucket, just --

-That's what I did.
-Well, you didn't close enough.

I tell you what
if you put us together

For an entire [bleep] Season,

I'll probably want to k*ll him
by the end of the [bleep] Year.

Narrator: families setting
their sights on striking it rich

And changing their lives.

[ g*nsh*t ]

Hey, I'd like
to see you sh**t.

Narrator: at number nine,
three generations of Schnabels

Are put to the test when Parker
comes up with a big plan.

Parker, that slope indicates

That the main channel
is over that way.

Narrator: AGED JUST 17,

Parker Schnabel
has spent his summers

Learning how to mine gold
from his grandpa, John.

That don't look solid to me.

Narrator: with pay dirt
running out

At their big nugget claim,

The young miner wants to move up
to Smith creek hill.

But there's a problem.

The hill is dangerous.

You sh**t down there
like a toboggan,

Flop into this river,

And join the rest of the people
wherever heaven is.

What, now we have no way
of getting up there,

No dirt to run
through the plant.

Let's build a safe route
and whatever it costs,

It's a damn sight cheaper

Than somebody being hauled
out of here on a stretcher.

You're right.

Narrator: grandpa John insists
on a new safe road up the hill.

To build it, Parker enlists his
father roger and brother Payson.

What we're doing is putting
the dynamite in the hole

And then it's gonna
blast the rock apart,

So it'll hopefully
go to the left here

And fall into that hole for us.

Now we got the holes all set,

We'll just tie them altogether
and blow it up.

I'm gonna go a safe haven
and blow this thing up.

[ air horn blows ]

Fire in the hole!

[ expl*si*n ]

Narrator: with rock cleared,

The Schnabel
family gets to work.

My dad's just kind of always
full speed ahead kind of guy.

I like that because when
he's up here we get a lot done.

Now we're getting somewhere.

Oh, my grandpa's here.
Now we've got the a team.

I'm ready to do
whatever they want me to do.

[ laughs ]

We're close to the top.

We're gonna do it!

Whoo!

Look at this, it's like
a highway, beautiful road.

I've been waiting
for this a long time.

Narrator: the pressure
of finding gold

Pushes good men to the limit...

...and can pit
miner against miner.

[Bleep] Shut up!

-Don't talk to me that way.
-Don't try to intimidate me.

You understand me?

What the hell you doing?

Narrator:
piling in at number eight,

Dave Turin, Trey poulson,

And a moment that changed
everything for the Hoffman crew.

Dave, their place shut down.

The loaders are
broke down over there.

If we can get
that loader over there,

we can at least get
fair play running again.

Seems like every time they break
down we have to shut down.

This is bull [bleep].

Let's one of you
has got to stop.

Let go of me now! I'm gonna
[Bleep] k*ll him right now!

-No, you aren't.
-Let me get him!

Dave, knock it off!

-One of you just stop, please.
-Was that your best shot?

-No.
-[ bleep ]

Dave, please.
Bring the fury down.

Please, Dave, let --
-Coward.

-Just stop.
-Knock it off!

What's going on?

Battle of two bad tempers.

Whose? Dave's?

-Dave and Trey.
-They okay?

Finally got them
to [bleep] Walk away.

No, it's not good.
-They weren't gonna stop.

-Trey, Dave!
-You okay?

Get the -- Dave! Dave!

-No, no, no. No, no, no.
-Trey, Trey!

-[ bleep ]
-Stop, stop.

-Trey, Trey. Trey. Trey.
-Come on!

Stop, stop, stop.
Stop, Trey.

I'm gonna k*ll that [bleep].
Big man.

-Stop!
-[ bleep ]

-Trey.
-Stop.

If you don't leave
right this [bleep].

-Trey please.
-[bleep] Your help.

Walk, let's walk.

-Trey, let's walk.
-Let's walk. Walk.

Trey, me and you been
friends forever, please.

Let's walk.

Everything I own's
on the line here.

-I know it is.
-At this mine.

-I'll walk.
-Just walk.

-I'm done. Just take me home.
-I'll take you.

Just pack my [bleep] Up
and go.

Narrator: coming up...

Tony Beets
resurrects a behemoth.

Whoa, easy there.

Narrator: and Dave Turin
faces off with mother nature.

Some ice flowing now!

Narrator:
this is the countdown...

...of "Gold Rush"'s

How about that?
[ laughs ]

Holy [bleep].

Narrator: mining gold requires
enormous machines...

...hardware with horsepower...

This thing is [bleep] Pimp!

Narrator:
...designed to deliver...

Man: look at that.

Narrator:
...every last flake.

At number seven, Tony Beets
goes back to the future

To resurrect a monster machine.

Klondike dredges banked
more than a million ounces

A season
during the early 1900s.

Despite not running
for more than 50 years,

Tony Beets thinks this
one could net him millions

If he can get it running.

It takes Tony all season
to dismantle

This piece of Yukon history...

Whoo!

Narrator: ...and rebuild it
at Eureka Creek.

Over the course of the season,
he assembles the trommel...

...the stacker...

...and the bucket line.

And he's ready to put it
all to the test.

-Yeah!
-Yeah.

You know what I want
to see, right?

Gold.

Whoo!

-Well? Oh, wow.
-Oh, wow.

That's pretty cool, Tony.

Holy seepers, wow,
that is awesome.

And you got gold.

That is amazing.

Narrator: over four years,
dredge number one banked

Tony $6.9 million of gold.

In the frozen north, the mining
season is brutally short.

Man, this don't look good, huh?

Narrator:
to extend the season,

Gold miners rush to start
as early as possible.

You got a dozer
and I got a wash plant.

I just need
to get to my claim.

[Bleep]

Narrator: at number six,
Dave Turin and Freddy Dodge

Attempt to harness
the power of nature

To jump start their season.

I can't wait until I see gold.

Narrator:
at the start of season five,

Dave Turin teams up
with the Dodge brothers

To mine gold in a narrow
Yukon valley.

Freddy and derek
have been doing this creek

And they're getting big gold
and a lot of it.

I'm kind of known
as the gold guy.

Dave, he's one
of the best people

I've ever seen
on heavy equipment.

We've put together
one hell of a team.

If the gold's in the ground,
we will succeed.

Narrator: The Valley's pay dirt
is buried under winter ice

That will take weeks to thaw.

Dave and Freddy have a plan.

Build an ice dam upstream

And create a massive
build up of water.

Then breach the dam,

Sending 200,000 gallons of water
into The Valley below.

The surge should
clear enough snow and ice

For the crew to start mining.

I've never worked on
ice before.

Makes me a little nervous.

This is 105,000-pound machine

And it's not designed
to be run on snow and ice.

There we go, oh, that's good.

Narrator: after half a hour,
the dam starts to take shape.

Yeah, I got a lot of ice
sitting in here right now.

The pond's filling up
faster than I thought.

We're gonna have to hurry.

I'm gonna cut it loose.
Dave's gonna go big.

Hang on,
let me get out of here.

Whoa.

Narrator: 200,000 GALLONS OF
water threaten to breach the dam

With Dave
directly in its path.

Whoa, h*, easy there.

We're about to lose it.

Come on, baby,
get up the hill.

I can't be waiting.

We've got to hurry, guys.

This dam's gonna
break on its own.

Ah.

That ought to be enough.

Narrator:
with Dave out of harm's way,

Derek Dodge breaks through
the 15 foot wall.

Let's give it hell.

There it goes!

Look at that stuff
go down the creek, man.

Some ice flowing now.

Nice, that'll clear it out.

All the water and ice
from above flowed

Down to the bottom
of the mountain.

Perfect.
That's exactly what we want.

It's working perfect.

Narrator:
in just a morning's work,

The water has cleared
most of the ice

Covering their carmack's gold.

I think there's gonna
be pockets in here

That are gonna be amazing.

I think it's gonna
be a great season.

Carmack's is open
for business.

Narrator: coming up...

Whoo! We digging now!

Narrator:
...an infamous mine site.

Dare I say, glory hole?

Narrator: ...and a fight
to extend the season.

We're not gonna
roast weenies.

It's gonna
the fires from hell.

Narrator: we're counting down
the top 10 moments...

Holy smoke.

Narrator: ...from a decade
of Gold Rush.

Man: yee-haw.

Narrator: in the wilderness,

Far from workshops
and spare parts...

The whole transmission's
blown up.

Narrator:
...broken equipment

Costs tens of thousands
of dollars in lost gold.

We've done some stupid [bleep]
But this is one of the top ones.

It's in.
Just the Yukon chop shop.

Narrator: to keep producing,
miners must get creative.

Did I tell you
get a tire on?

[ laughter ]

Narrator: at number five,
the glory hole,

An ancient waterfall
rumored to be packed with gold.

Whoo! We digging now!

There's gonna be a giant pot
of gold at the bottom.

Narrator:
site of the Dakota boys

Treacherous three year
quest to find it.

[ bleep ]

We just kept thinking,
just another five feet,

Just another five feet
and it's like a sickness almost.

Yee, hee, hee, hoo!

Narrator:
Dakota Fred is digging deep,

Hunting the pay streak.

Very hard digging.

I just broke something.

Narrator: the high tensile steel
links connecting the bucket

To the hydraulic piston
have sheared,

Shutting down
the hurt's operation.

So if we don't get
another excavator

Or get this thing fixed,

We can't do anything.

For every day that you're down,

You're losing
probably 2,000 bucks.

And it don't take many of
those days to add up.

That's a big.

Narrator: a replacement part
is weeks away.

That's a major breakdown
right here.

Narrator:
Fred is not prepared to wait.

We have to quickly
design something.

This is the way it was and then
we're gonna interpret it

A little differently.

So if we took two of these,
put them together,

And then put the truss
in between, we would have it.

Narrator: his plan,
replace the broken linkage

With a part made
from scrap metal.

Fred's bush fix
must take the full force

Of the 26-ton excavator.

We got about an hour
of welding left on it.

We'll haul everything back
and put it back together again.

[ grunts ]

Well, it's all greased up,
put back together.

I'm gonna give it a try.

We'll find out real quick
if this part's gonna hold.

Whoo! Look good to me.

It's always nice
to get back to digging again.

Narrator: Fred's fix
gets him digging down

To gold rich pay dirt,

Which gives the Dakota boys
$750,000 of gold

By the time they quit
the glory hole.

Whoo!

Narrator:
at the end of each season

In Alaska and the Yukon,

Gold miners
have to fight the big freeze.

[ laughs evilly ]

Narrator:
when the water freezes,

The mining stops.

Man: it's completely
frozen solid.

This is definitely
the coldest we've seen.

Narrator:
but when the ground is good,

It's never easy
to call it quits.

We can't shut down. We've got
to get it all through tonight

Because at the point
we shut down, we're frozen out.

Everything's got to keep moving,
even us.

Narrator: at number four,

The Hoffman crew steals a trick
from the old timers

In a desperate attempt
to hold back winter.

I want to make sure I get
every little piece of gold

On every cut that we opened up.

That didn't get it all.

What have we got?
-Just froze up solid, Todd.

Narrator: with all their
pay dirt frozen solid,

The Hoffman's wash plant
is shut down

And their season is over.

But Jack Hoffman
refuses to quit.

Listen, the old boys
back in the 1800s

Used to build fires
down in their pits.

That was the only way they had
of thawing it out, you know.

We got to try that.
-You must be joking.

-I think it'll work.
-It's not gonna do any good

You bringing a little camp
fire in here.

We're not gonna
roast weenies,

We're gonna melt this ground.

It's gonna be
the fires from hell.

I've never heard anything
like it, it's just crazy.

That's the best pay
we've ever had.

I don't want to quit, I want to
try to get this melted down

And get that material up
to that plant.

If it gives us a few more yards,
that's a few more ounces.

I'll take it.

We're the only idiots
in the Klondike right now

Trying to thaw our pay dirt out
with a bonfire.

[ air horn blows ]

-Now we're good.
-All clear, go ahead, man.

My face is burning, you know,
and so if my face is burning,

Everything else right around
here is burning.

Heavenly father, we ask
that you just melt the ground.

Yield up just that much
more gold that we need.

Amen.

Because this
is some hot pay dirt

And I mean literally
it's hot and on fire.

Digging pretty easy right now.

I'm serious,
I am really surprised.

I'm down two feet and I haven't
hit frozen ground.

It worked.

Fire it up, dude!

Last day of sluicing.

Narrator: Jack's resurrection
of the old timer's technique,

Helps the Hoffman crew
to an 800-ounce total,

A nine times increase
on their previous year

And a new season record.

Guys,
that's 1.2 million in gold.

-Whoo!
-Whoo!

Now we can honestly say
we're a full-fledged,

I can make a living out
of this gold miners.

-Whoo-hoo!
-Yeah!

-Man, that's good.
-Man, that's cool.

-That's nice.
-Good job, guys.

Narrator: coming up...

Whatever, Tony.

Narrator:
...the countdown heats up.

Give me one good reason not to
tell you to go [bleep] Yourself.

I want to see a miracle
on this mountain.

Well, we're broken
by this season.

We failed.

I'm not mining anymore.

Up ahead,
we reveal the greatest

"Gold rush" moment of all time.

But first...

I know you have
some issues with me, Rick.

Narrator:
...mine bosses are driven men

Used to forging their own path.

When thrown together, it's no
surprise they become rivals.

You're not gonna
make this easy.

At number three, "Gold Rush"'s
greatest ever rivalry,

The ongoing battle of wits
between Tony Beets...

...and Parker Schnabel.

Some gold.
Where's that from?

Narrator: at 18 years old,
Parker gets his shot

At the big leagues working
under the Klondike kingpin.

This season
we need better ground.

You just show up in the spring
and shutting us down.

Whatever, Tony.

Narrator: and Tony could do
whatever he liked.

If you want me to stop
working today then --

Narrator:
but six years later,

Their relationship
reaches a turning point

When Parker has something
Tony needs...

It's on the little flake.

Little flake,
isn't that Parker?

Yes, it is.

Narrator:
...a water license.

You did that
personally yourself.

Yeah.

And you have to be nice.

Seriously.
-Seriously.

We're definitely up against it
with these licensing issues.

Yeah.

Oh, now,
we're buddying up.

Well...

What happened
last spring, Tony?

What you're saying is that
that basically I've got control

Whether you can mine it or not?

Well, it appears the shoe's
on the other hoof.

Give me one good reason not to
tell you to go [bleep] Yourself.

No, when I needed something
was last spring, Tony.

There's been some bad blood
at times, Tony.

But I'm gonna be calling
in a favor one of these days

And so, you know, right now
we might not need anything

But down the road here
this season I very well could.

And so, I'm fine with it.

Yeah, not an issue.

Have a good one, Tony.

Narrator: for hundreds of years,
the lure of gold has made men

Risk everything
in the wilderness.

on their luck friends

Took up this challenge,
heading north...

Let's go Alaska, huh?

Narrator:
...to seek their fortunes.

Everything you see
right here is ours.

You're all millionaires,

The only thing is you got

To get it out of the ground,
you know?

-Whoo!
-Y'all come.

Narrator: at number two,
the heroic pioneers

Who started it all
make a life changing decision.

Over their eight-year
mining career...

No guts, no glory!

Narrator:
...in five countries...

We're not in Kansas
anymore, Brian.

Let's run some dirt.

Narrator:
...through a dozen wash plants,

The Hoffman's search for gold.

-Yeah.
-We just went for it.

Narrator: and grew from a bunch
of desperate rookies...

-14.64.
-Yeah!

Narrator: ...into a professional
gold mining outfit.

-3,032.
-No way!

Our best season ever.

That's not bad for a bunch
of rookies from the city.

Narrator: after his triumph
in the Klondike,

Todd makes a bold move,

Leading his crew to mine
in the lower 48.

I want to see a miracle
on this mountain.

Narrator: but over
the next two seasons,

Their luck runs out...

We should have had a hell
of a lot more gold than that.

It's not the equipment,
it's not the guys,

I think it's the ground.

You know what, I've had it,
I've had enough.

That cut's done.

I'm done.

Narrator: ...until Todd and his
crew face a final reckoning.

You know what?
I don't want to stop.

I appreciate that,
but we're broken by this season.

We failed.

The only fair way to do it
is we're just gonna

Have to take a vote.

We're a team.
It's the only way to make it.

I vote we keep running.

-I'm with Todd.
-Cut and run.

That's three.
About you guys?

I'm ready to go.

I just don't think
it's worth it anymore.

Hunter?

I think we should
be done this year.

Okay, that's three, three.

Well, Andy, you're the one
moving all the pay dirt

Over to the plant,
what do you think?

I vote we're done.

So we voted.

We got outvoted.

Okay, guys,
it's time, it's over.

Narrator: after mining

Worth $10 million,

The Hoffman's
mining career is over.

You know, eight years ago

I had a dream
to put gold in my pockets

And help my guys out
and my family.

I've accomplished that dream

And now it's time
to chase another dream.

I'm not mining anymore.

-Good job, dad.
-Yep.

Narrator: coming up,

We reveal the all time
greatest ever moment.

[ cheering ]

Narrator: the biggest moment
for miners

Is when they're on the gold.

Ooh, ah, there's gold.

Narrator: and here
are our mine bosses

Biggest ever weekly
gold weighs.

The final gold weigh,

-Yeah.
-There you go.

Narrator: WORTH $160,000.

[ laughter ]

Narrator: a total of 884 ounces
worth over $1 million.

Big red produced 95 ounces.

Sluicifer produced

Whoo!

Narrator: 955 ounces worth over
$1.1 million.

Now we've got the a team.

Narrator:

We're perfectionists

And every year
we get a little more perfect.

Wow.

Narrator:
...10 extraordinary moments...

Trey, Trey!

Narrator:
...now the biggest of all.

Sluicifer.

No guts, no glory!

Narrator: at number one,

Chases 1,000 ounces
with an unlikely crew.

You separate the boys
from the men.

Narrator: at scribner creek,
the Schnabel crew gathers

To hear their end
of year gold total.

Whoo-hoo.

-Do do ding.
-Holy crap.

So we pulled over
$1 million

Worth of gold
out of the ground this season.

-Yee-hee.
-Yeah!

Narrator:
Parker's crew heads home

Leaving the young mine boss
wanting more.

There is one goal
we haven't hit.

We can go for a thousand.
I mean, that's the big one.

Good way to end it.

-Are you in?
-I'm in.

-1,000 ounces, baby.
-Let's do it.

Narrator: the two-man
Schnabel crew needs 164 ounces

To hit their target.

Right now we've got two trucks
and we've got two people,

So I'm obviously
between machines today.

I think it's about
time for a swap.

Rick:
Yeah, yeah, I could do that.

Parker: it's some pretty
good dirt, Rick.

If we can keep on this stuff
we might hit that 1,000.

Right on, buddy.
We'll keep going.

Narrator: but the Klondike
has other ideas.

Parker: the weather's
getting really [bleep] Cold.

I mean, at some point we're not
gonna be able to sluice

Any longer.

Narrator:
to maximize his chances,

Parker goes looking
for reinforcements.

Parker: so right now
I'm going to Tony's.

It's tough asking him for help,

But I don't see any
other option right now.

You know, we've got ground

But we just don't have
the people to keep doing it.

-I know somebody.
-Who's that?

You.

Well, you're all done.
You sit on your butt all day.

You might as well
give the kid a hand.

Because he really needs
somebody, so give him a hand.

Oh, you're so welcome.

Here comes Tony Beets.

Hey, Rick, guess
who's joining the crew?

Narrator: the king of
the Klondike turns up for duty.

Yeah!

Glad you made it.

So, maybe you could
run our hoe and load trucks?

Sounds good,
I'm glad you made it, Tony.

I'm glad you're not.

I just told Tony Beets
what to do.

[ laughs ]

Narrator: with the big freeze
fast approaching, Parker,

Rick, and Tony work
late into the night.

Right on.

Narrator: the next morning,

Winter shuts
down Parker's season.

All right,
well, this is it, Rick.

Yeah. It all comes down
to one bucket, huh?

There's no doubt
we did our best

And, you know, I really
appreciate your time

And thanks for staying.
It was a pleasure.

Yeah.

-We kicked some a*s.
-Yep.

Narrator: Parker returns home
to see his family.

-Parker.
-Hey, Parker.

-It's great to see you.
-You, too.

Oh. You look -- you look good.

-Thank you.
-Wait until you see this.

Whoa! Look at this.

Look at all that good stuff.
-Whoa.

-I'm going to the Yukon.
-Holy criminey.

That's over 1,000 ounces.

-1,029.
-[ laughs ]

-Jeez.
-Oh!

You made a great decision.
$1 million on the table.

-Nice.
-It is.

-Oh, my god!
-Isn't that great?

Close to a million.

[ laughter ]

I'm overwhelmed.

I've never seen that much gold
in my whole life in one time.

Seeing my grandpa's face when I
put all that down on the table,

Made it all worth it.

Narrator: with the help
of Rick Ness and Tony Beets,

Parker hits the big time.

But the 1,000 ounces was just
the beginning of his success

And in total he's mined

Over $40 million worth of gold.

-Whoo!
-Yo!
