[Parker] We had a really
good season last year
and I don't know that we're
gonna be able to match that.
The big challenge now
isn't in mining,
it's in staying ahead
of the operation.
[narrator] In the Yukon,
is seven weeks
into the mining season.
Right now, we're gonna
stop stripping at Mud Mountain
where we've got half
of the cut down gravel.
But it's just
taking a lot of time
and we're spending
a lot of money.
And we need to start
getting some revenue in.
[narrator] So far,
Parker spent almost
two and a half million dollars
at Mud Mountain
trying to get down to gold.
To keep funding
the ambitious dig,
he's looking
for a quick score.
[Parker] Mud Mountain's
definitely some of the
deepest ground we've mined.
So, we're gonna
jump into some shallower
ground at Ken and Stuart's
and start stripping
down there.
[narrator] Four miles west
of Mud Mountain,
the Promised Land leased
from Ken Tatlow
and Stuart Schmidt
covers 2,000 acres.
Last season, Parker prepared
a 20 acre section
leaving just two feet
of worthless overburden
to remove.
So it's not gonna
take us much time
once we get it all stripped
to sluice it out.
[Parker] You guys all know
what needs to get done.
One hundred percent.
And you're better at it
than I am.
So, Froggy let's get you
stripping down here
and right away.
Yeah.
[Parker] We need this place
stripped in a week.
So let's just focus on that
and I will say
everybody here is doing
a great job right now.
All right. Thanks, guys.
[narrator] New hire,
former Marine,
Robert "Froggy" Jourdenais
oversees stripping
the ground to pay dirt.
Parker wants
to have this ground
ready to be sluiced
and there's a lot
of work to be done.
Time is against us.
We really need to step it up
to make it all happen.
It always seems like
there's never enough people
to do the job 'cause there's
so much work to do.
So I'm happy to do
whatever I can.
[narrator] Eighty-two-year-old
claim owner, Ken Tatlow,
runs the massive D10 Dozer
to get to the gold
on his own ground.
We've had these
grounds a long time
and it has cost a lot
of money to hold it
and so it's good to start
to see some royalties come in.
[narrator] Froggy
must move 77,000 yards
of the worthless dirt
before the Promised Land
is ready to sluice.
[Froggy] I got two trucks.
And now I'm on 100 loads
per truck per day.
And that's a bare minimum
and they know that.
They wanna be miners,
they gotta perform.
That's the bottom line.
[narrator] Eighteen-year-old
Evan Kurtz never drove
a rock truck
before last month.
[Evan] Oh, I like
working with Froggy.
He's really strict
with it though.
If you don't hold
to his standards
then you're gonna
get a talking to.
[narrator] Twenty-two-year-old
Jordan Tatlow is grandson
of landowner, Ken, but this
is his first season mining.
[Jordan] We're trying to move
all this dirt out of here.
There's a [bleep] ton of dirt.
About [bleep].
Just a second.
About to hit someone.
So there's only
a couple of us down here.
Parker wants this
thing sluicing so
a lot of dirt to move
but not a lot of time
to move it.
You could be out
of the military
but you can't take
the military out of the guy.
And if you're gonna do a job,
you're gonna do it
to the best
of your capabilities.
[truck honks]
Jordan, I got
a 100 loads to hit.
[Froggy on radio] Come on.
So, we're at 75 loads.
I need 25 more loads
out of you today.
[Jordan] Okay.
[narrator] It's a half mile
round trip to the waste site.
They have to do a trip
every seven minutes non-stop
throughout their
[bleeping]
Most people my age,
my friends,
are just out having fun
drinking and partying.
Not thousands
of kilometers away
from their friends and family
working up in the Yukon.
You know, working
three weeks straight,
seven days a week.
Twelve hours a day
and no days off.
[Froggy]
But you have to realize
when those kids came here,
the biggest thing
they probably ever drove
was a Honda Civic.
And now they're
sitting in a truck
who's got more horsepower
than a NASCAR
and they have to know
what they're doing.
But Evan is doing great.
Jordan, well, he
could be doing better.
[Jordan] Coolant level whoa!
[bleeping]
This container
where the coolant sits,
is different
from the other ones.
So I'm gonna just
spill it all over the place.
[narrator] Unfamiliar
with the truck,
Jordan pulls plant boss,
Tyson Lee, off his job
running pay.
No worries. Start it up.
All right. Thank you.
Just a [bleep] show,
honestly right now.
Froggy's always wanting
to get a 100 loads or more.
I've been keeping up.
Jordan's falling behind.
[clears throat]
[truck honks]
Okay. What's
going on in there?
Wake up. Come on.
Sorry, boss, getting hot
in here. I'm a bit tired.
[bleep] Come on!
You gotta be a little
more on the ball.
Well, I know that
we're on Ken's grounds
and Jordan is his grandson.
But he's gonna have to learn
to run like everybody else.
I don't care
about his feelings.
Bottom line is, you know,
Parker put me in charge
so we're gonna find out
what the problem is
and we're gonna deal with it.
'Cause the other alternative
is he's out the door.
So, somebody's gonna
have to talk to somebody.
I'm concerned
about your production.
We're only doing
like 70 loads a day.
First couple of days
were stressful.
Yeah. Because you've
never been around,
it's all new crew to you,
and everything is new.
- Yeah.
- So it's a little harder.
I know the hours are long.
It's hard work.
But once you really
come around and get on to it,
you'll enjoy it.
Yeah.
I'll try to be more focused
and try to maintain it
for a whole 12 hours.
Hopefully, I'll get there.
[Tony speaking]
[narrator] The king
of the Klondike, Tony Beets,
was caught flat-footed
when he was denied his license
to mine on Indian River.
But now, he's fighting back
at his other property
forty miles north
on Paradise Hill.
[Ruby] I hope Tony comes up
with a new plan for us.
The Nugget Cut has been
really successful this year.
That trommel runs
So you're running through
a lot, a lot,
a lot of pay dirt.
[Tony speaking]
[narrator] The Eighty Pup
creek is 600 yards south west
of Tony's camp.
Tony has identified 18 acres
of ground beside the creek
where he believes
a pay streak 40 feet thick
could contain almost
four million dollars in gold.
[narrator] While still feeding
the trommel
with Nugget Cut pay,
Tony throws
the rest of his crew
at stripping
the Eighty Pup Cut.
[Michael] My dad used be
on the dozer a lot
and they said
he was good at it.
So they kind of expected me
to be good too.
So you really want
to do a good job then
to show that you can do it.
You don't want
to let them down.
Where I'm from we
don't have many dozers
'cause it's all flat already
and there's no gold.
[narrator] 24-year-old
Michael Beets arrived
three months ago.
[narrator] Youngest son
of Tony's brother, Nick,
he's never mined before.
I don't think so.
[Michael] Before this
I was working on a farm.
So I had experience
working with machines.
[narrator] Tony's put Michael
in the second biggest
dozer on the claim,
the 63 ton D10.
[Michael] Tony
is really honest.
If you're doing a good job,
you'll hear it and if you're
not doing a good job,
you will also hear it.
People find that honesty
really scary.
But, uh, Tony just
tells you how it is.
He doesn't let
everyone run the dozer.
So I feel pretty honored
and I don't want
to disappoint him.
[Kevin]
Tony set a really high
gold total for this season.
It's in the grounds,
so let's get it.
[narrator] Eldest son
and mechanic, Kevin Beets,
pushes overburden
in another D10
to get down to pay
before the Nugget Cut
runs out.
With Monica gone, I had
to help take up the slack
with clean ups and digging
and all that fun business.
So it's nice to have
a bit more help around too
'cause it was getting
stretched really thin.
Holy hell, there's a 100 foot
drop right under me.
Oh. [bleeping]
Oh. [bleeping]
Hey, Meghan,
do you got a copy?
I just got stuck at the dump.
I think I'm gonna need a hand.
Oh, holy hell,
there's a 100 foot drop
right under me.
[narrator] At Paradise Hill,
Tony is racing to get down
to pay in the Eighty Pup Cut.
But new driver
Elaina Jensen's truck
has gotten stuck on the edge
of a 100 foot drop.
[Tony on radio]
[narrator] Experienced
operator, Meghan Gadet
takes over at the wheel
of the truck
while nephew, Michael Beets,
brings in the D6.
[Michael] This will be
the first time I'll tow
a rock truck out.
It's not the most ideal spot.
That's pretty close
to the edge.
[Meghan] Oh, yeah.
And it's super dangerous
if it does fall off
and go a 100 feet down
I probably won't have time
to get out in time.
So it's cracking down there,
means it's gonna slide.
[Michael] Yeah, you can see
the mud sliding away.
[Meghan] That should be good.
That looked like a quick fix
but it could be
pretty dangerous
to get it out of there.
A lot of stuff that
can go wrong.
But at least we got her.
Didn't break anything,
so that's good.
[Fred] When we chose
this claim,
I knew it was gonna be
more challenging,
but I think of myself
as a bulldozer.
There's a big mount of [bleep]
in front of me right now,
but a dozer doesn't stop
at anything,
it just pushes through.
We've run across a lot
of problems getting down
to gravel.
But we can actually
start mining now.
[narrator] Ex Special Forces
medic, Fred Lewis,
has leased the remote
at California Creek.
A third of the way
through the season,
he has only half a crew
and hasn't mined
an ounce of gold.
Chris and I are headed out
to get the wash plant,
and get set up,
start pulling some gold.
[Fred] We've got new guys
coming, we've got
more equipment coming.
So this is a big week.
[narrator] Things are finally
looking up.
Last week, Fred spent
of his investors' money
upgrading a leased trommel.
Now, he and son Christopher,
head down the Top
of the World Highway
to haul it back to the claim.
I can't wait to see
what you've gotten us.
Hopefully, it's not
a piece of crap.
Oh, it's awesome.
You're gonna love it.
- Better be worth it.
- It's shiny, it's blue.
- I don't like blue.
- Yeah, I know.
Could be army-green,
but we'll fix that later.
So this wash plant
is really cool, Christopher.
It's a New Zealand-style
trommel,
and that's why they call it
the "Kiwi Plant," right.
It's gonna fit our style
and our scheme perfectly,
runs about 55 to 60 yards
an hour. Maybe 65.
And that's like
one scoop a minute, right?
Yeah, that's great.
[Fred] There she is,
Christopher. That's her.
All right, buddy.
[Christopher] Look
at this thing, yeah?
Yeah!
- Long time no see.
- Yeah, how you doing, Fred?
- How you been?
- Yeah.
Got her all fixed up, do ya?
We're gonna give it
a little tuck and just see
how it's gonna move.
And then once we know
it's gonna come up,
we'll just slowly bring her
up on to the roll.
[Fred] Time to ride, let's go.
[Fred] Okay, keep looking.
We're good!
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Up!
Now what?
The front's lifted right now
and the bottom of this
conveyer is dragging.
If we force this,
what we're looking at risking
is tearing our belt,
'cause it's dragging
right here on the ground.
We got an issue.
Can Joel come on up over
with his forklift
and pick this up
a little bit while we go
ahead a little bit?
That might be a good idea.
A bit of a problem here.
[Roger]
Just lift it a little bit.
[Fred] It's on?
Uh...
Easy!
Whoa!
There we go!
[Roger] He's on the deck.
So we're ready to roll.
All has been building up
to this point.
Once this wash plant
gets to the site,
the mine really transforms
into an operating mine.
[Christopher] I hope the rest
of the crew will be able
to keep up with what
we're able to do.
They'll have to figure out
pretty quick, Christopher.
[chuckles]
And at that point, everybody's
gonna feel that energy
and we're gonna be
rolling hard.
Now it's time to move down
the hill to its final resting
spot for the season.
[narrator] Four hours
after picking it up,
they arrive at the claim.
And now, they just have
one steep descent between them
and the gold.
Froggy wants me hitting
a 100 loads a day and I
think right now we're hitting
just above 70, so...
we gotta pick up a lot
of slack here
and it's not that easy.
[narrator]
At the Promised Land,
Parker's crew is racing
to get down to pay dirt
by the end of the week.
But Operator Froggy
is struggling
with rookie truck drivers.
I talked to my grandpa
and he really motivated me.
He gave me a good pep talk
and I think it worked.
Kind of turning a new corner
here and starting
a new chapter I think.
My grandpa has been
up in the Yukon
for around 60 years.
Everybody up here knows
my family and knows
the last name.
So I really don't wanna
be the one to [bleep] it up
and tarnish the family name
at all.
Yeah, so far everyone's
really impressed
with Jordan's progress.
After that talk with Ken,
he's been really motivated.
[Jordan] Hey, Evan,
what's your load count at
right now?
Yeah, you're starting
to catch up.
Slowly but surely.
Coming down, you can get
up to 40 and then take
your foot off the accelerator.
Going down the hill,
you can get to 50.
Oh, yeah. Jordan's starting
to catch up.
He's going
a little bit faster now.
'Cause right as I leave,
he'll be right behind
with a full box again.
We're at about 98 loads
right now. We still got
a couple of hours left,
so today will be
the first time
I hit triple digits.
[metal clanking]
Oh, my [bleep].
What the [bleep] was that?
That did not sound good.
[Evan on radio] Yeah,
Jordan, you need
to pull over right now.
[bleep]
[Jordan] Hey, Tyson,
you got a copy?
[Tyson] Go to the yard and see
what the mechanics have
to say.
You can hear banging around
as it drives by.
That's horrible.
- Where's your drive shaft?
- Right there.
[mechanic] Truck just started
falling apart, literally.
[narrator] The rear
drive shaft has cracked.
Replacing it will take
at least a week.
There's only one
spare truck left,
but it's being serviced.
Okay, so he's gonna
get this one up
and running for me,
and I can take this one out.
And hopefully it works,
so we should be back up
in an hour or so.
But for now, we just sit
around and wait I guess.
Guess you're good to go.
I'll get my a*s back to work.
Evan, I'm at 100 loads now.
I think I passed you.
Yeah, Jordan, I'm at 99.
Finally, beat Evan
to 100 loads.
I'm stoked about it.
[Froggy] His load count
will help us make our goal.
Ken, I just wanna let you know
that your grandson hit a 100.
One-zero-zero.
[Ken] He's showing me
that he's got what it takes
to get the work done,
and they're doing it.
The whole team
pulled it together,
and in seven days we got down
to pay, so that's fantastic.
Now I gotta run my butt
to the office and tell Parker
the good news.
There's gonna be quite
a bit of pressure here
when Parker comes down to pan.
I know that he wants
to get some revenue
out of here, too,
for a backup for Mud Mountain
for sure.
[Parker] I'm really happy
with the way it looks. Like,
I can't imagine that
a sluicing crew is gonna have
a problem with any of this.
Ken is definitely, like,
the coolest landlord
of all time.
Land owners that understands
the process,
and...
when we need help
they come help us out.
Doesn't get much better
than that.
That's the best pan I've seen
for hell of a long time.
[Parker] Yeah.
- That's good.
- That's damn good.
[narrator] On Paradise Hill,
Tony Beets is racing to open
the 18-acre Eighty Pup Cut
before he runs out of pay dirt
and is forced to shut down.
We are doing a big push
right now to get all this
black muck down and out.
We need more [bleep] people.
[narrator] Tony has thrown
his whole crew
at the Eighty Pup Cut,
but he's still only two-thirds
of the way to pay dirt.
He desperately needs
another operator.
- Hey, Mom.
- Hey, how are you?
- Good. I have
the small child for you.
- You do?
I do.
Just put that on there
for now.
Hi, baby.
[Monica chuckles]
So you're ready to go
back to work?
Oh, yeah, more or less.
It's gonna be, kind of, tough.
Yeah, well, you still need to
call me every two
to three hours,
'cause she'll be hungry.
[laughs]
So what is this
for the Eighty Pup?
Huh, TB said something about
needing me on a 950.
We're just stripping.
- Dad said they were almost
down to pay, so...
- Yeah.
- Well, I best get to it.
- Okay.
- Love you. Call me
if she's crying.
- Love you, too.
Oh, I will. Don't worry.
What do you say?
What are we gonna do?
We're gonna hang out together?
What trouble are we
gonna get into?
Poor puppy. My first baby.
- My first baby,
let's go to work.
-[dog yelps]
Oh, yeah.
I wonder what you've done.
[narrator] With Monica
joining the stripping crew,
Tony has gone all-in
on his bit to strip
the 80-foot deep
Eighty Pup Cut in just a week.
[Monica] Work is work,
I don't care.
I'd rather be doing something
than standing around
with my finger in my [bleep].
So it's the first day
back at work
since having Jasmine.
I miss her when I'm out here,
but I know...
that when I'm needed
I have to go.
Seeing my parents with
my child, definitely amazing.
My mom is, like,
absolutely in love
with my daughter,
which is expected,
but still adorable.
And even T Beets
absolutely melts when he's
looking at her.
We just really
love that honestly.
Guess our Monica
is back already.
It wasn't that long ago
that she had Jasmine.
It did not take her long
to get back into the swing
of things.
Which is pretty badass,
I'd say.
[Monica] We still, obviously,
have a little bit left to dig,
but, uh,
we're almost there, so...
The light is at the end
of the tunnel.
[Mike]
There's most likely good pay
underneath this.
This is a little bit of
the a*s end of Eight Pup.
We finishing it off.
[Kevin]
We are pretty much underpaid,
so it's almost time for Tony
to come in and, uh,
we can sluice this pile.
[narrator] The Beets
have reached pay dirt
at the Eighty Pup
in just one week,
and the Nugget Cut
is still going.
[Fred] Right now, it's really
difficult for me. I don't have
my whole team here.
Till my team is here fully,
I'm a laborer
just like everybody else.
[narrator]
At California Creek,
Fred Lewis is working with
recon scout sn*per
Stuart McKenzie
building a pad
for his new wash plant.
Now so we have JB and we have
Christopher.
Christopher has very minimal
experience on the excavator.
And JB, I know
that he has experience
but it's a really big task.
[JB] You know, for me
with a limited knowledge
on the excavator,
it was extremely difficult
challenge to overcome
no doubt.
We've had limited guys, uh,
we just have to step up
and, and just do it
the SF way.
Adapt and overcome
and make it happen.
[Fred] Outside of me,
I've got three guys.
We need our troops, big time.
[Klint] I grew up in
rural Kansas.
Failed out of college
when I was 19,
joined the Marines.
Switched to the army
to get to Special forces.
That's where I met Fred.
[narrator] Former Marine,
Klint Janulis served with Fred
in Iraq 13 years ago.
Fred calls me and goes,
"You wanna come mine gold?"
I was like, "That's pretty
[bleep] awesome."
The Special Forces is actually
sort of the perfect training
system for gold mining.
This is an adventure.
Who the hell wouldn't wanna go
hang with their buddy and
find gold, find treasure?
Is that a Fred I see?
Holy [bleep] man.
Come here, you dirty [bleep].
How you doing?
[grunts] I missed you.
[Fred] We lived together.
We studied together,
went to the whole
qualification course
for Special forces together.
And we saw combat together.
So there is not really
much more of a brother
that I could have hired for me
so I just can't wait
to get him to work.
[narrator] Klint hops right
into our rock truck to help
build the pad for the plant.
Spent most of the year
just trying to keep
my head above water.
Fall back.
[Klint] You know,
I'm working with combat vets.
It's been a long time
since I've been around guys
like this.
Guys who know what you've been
through and have seen it
themselves.
Mining with brothers
and comrades
is different than mining
with just other miners.
There's something about us.
We're all the same.
We all have pretty much
the same DNA.
We don't just walk in
to Special Operations.
You gotta prove yourself.
These guys are hungry.
These guys need this
in their life.
There we go.
- All right. Let's go.
- All right. Check this out.
[narrator] Next to sign up,
Former Special Forces
sergeant, Rick Douglas.
All right. You grab the hoe,
I'll grab the truck and start
pulling it in.
Being veterans,
we all understand
that it is about teamwork.
The end stage is gold
and that's what
we're here for.
You know, I'm actually one
of the only ones that came
back from last season.
I wanted to give another shot
out here in the Yukon.
If you can make it out here,
then by rights you are
a gold miner.
[narrator] Stuart brings in
the water pump that will feed
the plant.
This is $66,000 pump.
Rick, nothing to worry about,
right?
[Rick] All right.
Go ahead and put it down.
Hells, yeah. [bleep]
Damn man. She's in, brother.
Yeah.
Boom!
[Fred] All right, Christopher
go around and then back
up to it.
[narrator] With the pad
complete, Fred and Christopher
prepare to move
the 50 foot long wash plant
down to the claim.
We've gotten the wash plant
here,
just a little bit left to go
to get it down to the claim.
[narrator] Fred's plan,
use a 250 excavator
to pull the plant
while a rock truck
is tethered behind
acting as a break
during the two and a half mile
descent.
Around the tight hairpin turn
and down a 30 degree incline
before reaching the claim.
[Fred] Those chains start
to get tight,
he'll know it's pulling
and he'll be able to stop,
the bus will be able to stop
and hopefully the two vehicles
can keep it from going down
but sharp corners
and steep grade,
not gonna be fun.
You guys ready?
Let's do it.
No pressure but this is
a quarter million dollar
wash plant.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Gonna be a long ride.
[narrator] Fred taps
local operator Buzz Legault
to tow the plant.
[Fred] All right, guys.
This next corner is
the big one. Be ready for it.
It's got a lot of sand on it.
It might slide.
Easy.
Nice and slow, guys.
Nice and slow.
All right, guys,
we're going into the gauntlet.
We are going back,
so be ready.
Very good stuff.
Watch out for the edge
right there.
All right. He was starting to
slide so I'm just gonna have
him hold a little more slack,
so you should be able to go
but just be the same thing.
Easy.
Keep that slack like that.
We got it!
- That was [bleep].
- Yeah, man. We did it.
- Yeah.
- That was gnarly.
[laughter]
- She's here.
- Finally!
Now we need to get JB on it.
Get him doing maintenance.
Let's go.
Oh, guys. She's home.
Rocking and rolling.
[Fred] This wash plant means
we have a season.
Without this, we got nothing.
You know, I'm super excited
to get this [bleep] thing up
and running.
Put some dirt through it
and get some money.
Hell yeah, dude.
Look at that thing.
- Just get this thing rolling.
- Let's do it.
- There'll be time.
- Hell, yeah. Let's do it.
- All right.
Let's get back to work.
- Hell, yeah.
- Boom. Boom.
-[whooping triumphantly]
Still gonna be a challenge
getting it set up but once
it is,
it's gonna catch every ounce
of gold we put through it.
This is how we're gonna
vindicate ourselves
and prove to everybody
that we can mine.
So he wants the rock path
going down here
and sunflower garden here.
And then we'll put
a putting green for Doumitt
over here somewhere.
And then over here we can put
a little area for Dozer.
[narrator] At Scribner Creek,
rookie rock truck drivers
Evan and Jordan are on
gardening duty.
Down on that right side,
there is where we're putting
all of Parker's sunflowers.
I told him I planted them
upside down but he didn't
think that very funny.
He takes his sunflowers
really seriously.
[Doumitt]
So this is what Parker's
got you doing?
We got kicked out of
rock trucks and now
we're making rock pathways.
Has Parker seen it?
Well, he saw
for the first time last night
and first thing he said was
"It's not straight."
Should have handed him
a shovel and said, "Show me."
You gonna put hand rail
up too.
I mean wherever
the boss wants.
Can't say no.
[Evan] Put a hand rail up
for the old people.
[laughter]
[Doumitt] I gotta go now.
- Hey, babe. I'm here.
- Welcome babe.
[narrator] After two months
apart, Fred's wife, Khara
has made the journey
from Washington state.
Good timing that you came.
Got a wash plant already
down there with this close
to sluicing.
I am excited to get
down there. I wanna see
everything.
You gotta meet
the new guys too.
- Yeah.
- And then of course,
Christopher.
- Still his old
punk self but...
- Of course.
- He's doing really well.
- How's the gold looking?
Uh, gold looks pretty decent,
babe.
So do you think, like,
you made the right decision
to come here?
Hundred percent.
Hundred percent.
It's gonna be challenging.
And this is gonna be
a lot of hard work,
lot of blood, sweat and tears.
But I feel like the pay off
at the end is a lot better.
I mean,
night and day compared
to last season.
- I wanna see what's going on.
- We got a shot this year.
All right.
Go get, go get your [bleep]
hard hat.
All right. I'm gonna get
my stuff out. I'll see you
in about an hour.
Yeah.
[Khara] I'm really excited
to see Fred.
I know he's been really busy
doing as much as he can to get
this thing going.
So I haven't had a chance
to talk to him very much.
So I'll be glad to see
what he's been,
what he's up to.
I just hope that it's not
a repeat of last year
because last year was
not something I care to see
again but that's why I'm up
here to make sure
that doesn't happen again.
[Minnie] Hi, guys.
We had a baby.
I brought my baby as well.
[narrator] At Paradise Hill,
it's time to see how the last
of the Nugget Cut pays out.
[Kevin]
Oh, just a little, little bit.
-[Minnie] That must've
been scary.
- Oh, I think so.
Cousin Mike got that done.
I don't think he'll have
any problem.
Almost all your kids have it.
His dad had it.
I'll be surprised
if he didn't.
Well, it's nice
to have you back.
Good. Definitely miss
the little [bleep] when
I'm not with her, but...
Anyway, but it's good
to have you back, Monica.
We had a good week
sluicing then?
We should probably weigh
the stuff.
- How about I pour for once
and you read?
- Perfect.
[narrator]
Tony ran nugget pay all week.
It's been averaging
a 150 ounces.
Ready. Do it.
[narrator]
Worth over $400,000.
I think you guys should all
go back to work, eh?
Maybe get some,
some more of that stuff,
- so we can pay some bills.
- Yes.
Okay, we'll see you guys
later.
See you.
You only can get as much
out of the ground as is
in the ground.
[Minnie] You gotta go.
Talk to you later.
If you need me
to run equipment,
just let me know.
When she's a little bit older,
I'll put some earmuffs on her.
She can ride along.
See I remember being
four years old and sitting
in the back of the D10
when you were pushing.
[Minnie] Oh, you did.
You bet. Bye.
[Monica] Bye.
[Ken] Hey, young fella.
How you doing there?
Hey, old timer.
How's it going?
[Ken] This kinda shows Jordan
what he's doing this for.
[Doumitt] Hey, Tyson.
- How's it going man?
- Good. How are you doing?
Pretty good.
- You want some?
- No thanks.
- Hey, Mitch.
- What's happening?
- Crazy, huh?
- Man, what a week.
[narrator] At Scribner Creek,
landlord Ken Tatlow has
brought grandson, Jordan
to his first ever gold weigh.
We had quite the week.
[narrator] And the rest of the
crew are here to find out
how much money they banked
from Sluicifer in the
airstrip cut.
Sluicifer's still running
the airstrip
and then everything
motoring down at Ken's,
and it's pretty much ready
for a wash plant.
I think the sooner
we can get Sluicifer
down and running on
Ken's ground
the better off we'll be.
- You wanna see what we got?
-[Mitch] Yeah.
[Ken] Yeah.
[narrator] Parker can't move
Sluicifer on to the
Promised Land
until he's hit 1,500 ounces
in the airstrip.
He still needs 500 ounces.
[Doumitt] You want to
read it out, Mitch?
- You ready?
- All right, Chris,
let's see what you got.
Okay.
Keep going. 160.
- Still more in here.
- How much you got?
- What do you think?
- Just keeps coming.
- Yeah, it does.
- Doesn't stop.
Yeah, 250, 260, 270.
[narrator] Worth $520,000.
And over halfway
to the 500 ounces he needs.
[bleep] yeah.
That is a really good week.
- Yeah.
- It's a lot.
[Ken] So this is what
you're working for.
[Mitch] Exactly. Exactly.
So with that, that's gonna
gives us 1,321 ounces.
- It's a lot of money.
- Pretty good man.
- It's pretty cool.
- Yeah, it is. It is.
[Tyson] You know,
I'm looking forward to going
down to Ken's ground again.
[Parker]
Ken's looking forward to it.
Feels like a kid in
a candy store.
[Tyson] It was ear to ear
smile in the slot.
He's just having the time
of his life.
But now Jordan's down there
and to see those two working
together.
And you can see Ken,
you can see him, you know
teaching him how to
appreciate equipment.
Ken's been out here
a long time
and so for his, you know,
grandson to wanna figure
it out and come learn
about it, it's really cool.
Yeah, for sure.
Same time next week.
Ten times the gold.
[Doumitt]
Sounds like a plan.
-[Parker] Thank you, guys.
-[Doumitt] Thank you.
[Tyson] No worries.
