"Yu Yu Hakusho"

In a crowded city,
as I bump shoulders, I'm all alone.

On an endless prairie,
as the wind whistles by, I'm all alone.

Which one is it that makes me
want to cry more, I wonder.

Marking it with twin circles,
I feel a bit more grown-up!

It must be, that when I run
into these terribly difficult walls,

And unexpectedly,
for whatever reason,

The courage and power to break through
rises up from within,

All because of how, when I run
into these terribly difficult people,

They show me kindness, I bet!

Thank you very much!

The Demon Tealm was now
entering a new phase,

and the level of tension was increasing.

Hiei, who had called on Mukuro,

one of the three powers
that ruled the Demon Tealm,

had made his strength available,
and was promoted to her Number-Two man.

Elsewhere, Kurama, who had been
summoned by the second power, Yomi,

proved himself to possess
exceptional resourcefulness,

and had obtained the position
of Military Chief of Staff.

Finally, Yusuke had been
continuously training daily

at the camp of the last remaining power,
his father Taizen.

It had been nearly a year since
they had each come to the Demon Tealm,

churned up with so much ambitious drive.

"A Father's Last Words--
Memories of a Distant Day"

Bang!

That's enough. We give up.

Even with the four of us teamed up,
we were powerless against you.

Indeed, I'm afraid to
imagine what would come next.

Absolutely.

Hokushin, you've got a bad habit of
always ducking attacks right off

with your soft-body techniques.

Once someone goes after the hard
fulcrum points on your body,

you've had it.

It would take someone as good as you
to be able to ascertain

where that is and be able to strike.

My, my, in just a year's time,
our positions have completely reversed.

All right! I'm off to challenge
that nasty old man of mine!

Y- you nearly got yourself
k*lled just a month ago!

I'm all better now!

He really is a monster, huh?

He's his father's own son.

That's strange...

What is it?

It's just-- the sound
of the King's stomach...

It couldn't be...!

I'm calling you out!

P- Pop...!

W- what the hell?

Raizen-sama...!

Give me something to eat!

The b*stard! He's beside
himself with hunger!

He's lost himself...
and he is only capable of this?

He's not holding back...
and this is the level of his power?

W- where is he?

Why, you...! You're an awful sight!

What fraction of your power do
you still have from your prime?

Why are you tolerating this much?

Enough already. Eat.

If you can only eat humans, I'll go
nab two or three of them for you.

Do you want to grow weaker
little by little,

until you finally keel over?

Are you really content with doing that?

If it were me,
I wouldn't put up with it.

As weak as you are, I wouldn't be the
least bit happy about beating you now!

At least tell me why
it is you won't eat!

And if I'm not convinced, I'm going
to force some food into your mouth!

You're just like her.

You have a different
way of thinking, though.

She was a woman with a violent temper.

It must be nearly 700 years ago now.

The lands were in chaos,
and outlaws ran rampant.

The people were caught up
living lives of devastation.

At the time,

there wasn't any barrier between
the Demon Realm and the Human Realm.

It was an era when,
wherever humans made their living,

evil spirits would
join forces with them,

and even the nation as a whole
would team up with us,

employing spellcasting
to repel foreign invaders.

I had been classified among
the humans as a man-eater.

At the time, I did indeed
feed as much as I liked.

It was then that I met a certain
woman in the Human Realm.

Pale, and overly thin woman,
with the particular,

foul scent of enchanter's
incense about her.

But I was taken by her eyes.

It was the first time I'd ever met
anyone who would stare at me,

and look down on me.

Who art thou?

Hmm, an evil spirit, is it?

What hath led thee astray,
to show thyself here?

Art thou injured?

Allow me to see, and I shall heal thee.

This woman was a prominent
Buddhist Kudakusushi.

Kudakusushi?

What you would call a kind of pharmacist,
or doctor, these days.

It's said that they would voluntarily
swallow strong poisons and pathogens,

create immunities within their bodies,

and then use their own flesh
or blood as remedies,

to heal any ailment on the spot.

What is it? Art thou hungered?

If I wanted to k*ll her,
I could have done it at any time.

I thought about taking this woman
to do with as I craved. However...

Meaneth thou to consume me? Fascinating.

The inside of my body
is a vessel of poison.

If thou consumest me, thy stomach
wouldst be infected before the morn.

This is not a body that a barbaric,
evil spirit such as thyself can attain.

Devour me, if thou art able.

I was unable to move. I had been
completely overwhelmed by this woman.

What is the matter?
Wilt thou not devour me?

Well then, thou couldst perhaps
merely k*ll me. Have at it.

And then remove thyself forthwith!

However, from that moment,

thou wilt have forsaken thy
man-eater's pride and instinct.

So, what did you do?

I courted her.

I decided that she was
the only woman for me.

I had the feeling that
if I let her get away,

I would never reach her again.

And so, day and night, I plead with her.

A- and the genetic compilation
that resulted is... me?

You should be proud.
She was a good woman.

I didn't press her for details,

but apparently, she hadn't been
born in a Kudakusushi family.

She swallowed poisons of her own will,
to save people wounded in battle,

or those suffering from illness.

Compared to that woman,
I felt insignificant.

I made up my mind to
not eat another person

until the next time I saw that woman.

This despite the fact that we had
never arranged to see each other again.

However, the woman died
soon after giving birth.

That was the last time I saw her.

Demonkin live a long time.
And so, as long as I kept living,

I thought that maybe
I would meet her reincarnated.

That's all I could think as I lived on.

However, it appears that women like
her don't get born all that often.

The Spirit Realm, the Demon Realm,

and the Human Realm put together
all make up one world.

They are by no means separate.

Not even the folks in the Spirit Realm
know the final destination of the soul.

You are my son, but do you
want to eat people?

No.

You see? Even having inherited
my blood, you can't do it.

I'm sure that a fraction of us
demonkin have undergone a mutation.

In time, we are sure
to become an obstacle.

Mukuro and Yomi both started out
fighting with only their emotions,

but it's different now.

Mukuro might actually
get along with you.

He likes the Demon Realm
the way it is now, after all.

He won't interfere in the
Spirit Realm or the Human Realm.

But watch out for Yomi.

He plans on ruling both the
Spirit Realm and the Human Realm.

Ifyou're going to team up,
do it with Mukuro.

What are you talking about now?

I- I leave Hokushin
and the others to you.

Hey...! What is it you're saying!?

I'm so hungry...

Yusuke-san!

W- where's the King?

What in the world happened?

Yusuke-san?

Where's Raizen-sama?

He's dead.

Hokushin, could you show me
the way to someplace?

Where?

Yomi's place.

I don't hear the sound of
Raizen's stomach any longer.

Kurama, what do you think?

There are two possibilities:

one is that Raizen could no longer
bear the hunger, and ate someone;

the other is that there is no longer any
need for him to be experiencing hunger.

In other words...

He's dead, is he?

But this is sooner than we expected.

I think it's too early
to judge which one it is.

Very well.

Like you say, we will observe
the situation a little longer.

"Mobile Fortress Mukade"
("Centipede")

No doubt about it. Raizen is dead.

Is that right? So the fool died a fool,
did he?

What do you plan to do?

It's obvious. I'm going to re-paint
the Demon Realm in color.

That is Yomi's nation, Gandara.

Thank you, Hokushin.
You can go back now.

No, I'm going with you.

Yomi is probably aware of
Raizen-sama's death. If that's true,

your life will be in danger
when you enter Gandara.

You dummy, that's why I'm going alone.

You are now a King to us.

I have a duty to protect you.

Sheesh, what's the use?
But don't start anything.

Today, all we're going to do is talk.

I'm relieved to hear you say that.

How do you mean?

From here on, we should avoid
any risky conversation.

Since Yomi has lost his sight,
his ears and nose are that much sharper.

Raizen-sama said that he can pick up
on every person's conversation

within his nation.

All right, understood.

Yomi! Hey, you hear me!?

We're coming there now!
Put some tea on for us!

All right, let's go!

What an eccentric person you are!

By the way, what do you
have in your bag there?

--You mean this?
--Yes.

I've got kind of a
bad feeling about this.

It's a secret!

Kurama, your friend is quite
an interesting character, huh?

Yusuke is on his way to meet with Yomi.

Oh? What do you think Yusuke is up to?

Good question. He himself
may be simple-minded,

but he's also unpredictable.

I can't even guess what he's doing.

Once I see the result, though,

I'll think "of course,
that's just like that idiot."

That appears to be the truth.

What do you mean by that?

You often lie, after all.

If you meet up with Yusuke,
will you fight him?

Of course. From what
I saw of him just now,

he and I are about evenly matched.

But both he and I can
still extend ourselves.

If you're going to k*ll me and Yusuke,

now is the time. Think about it.

That is also true, isn't it?

You are so thoroughly aggravating.

Well then, if I fight Yusuke,
which side will you join?

I won't join either side.
I'll fight whoever wins.

Right now, you'd beat him,
one hundred percent.

That's a half-truth.

If that were to happen here and now,
you would join Yusuke.

Perhaps if me and Yusuke's powers
were evenly matched,

you wouldn't join either side.

And I'm a little envious of that.

Change course! Head for Gandara!

All hands, prepare for combat!

Following Taizen's death, the balance
in the Demon Tealm has crumbled.

In this touch-and-go-situation,
what is Yusuke thinking of doing?

Yomi and Kurama,

and Mukuro and Hiei--

each of their speculations
have become intertwined

in the turbulent Demon Tealm!

I hate saying so,
for the dead guy's sake,

but everything will be decided
on the one action that I take.

In this expl*sive situation,
I'm getting excited for some reason.

The whole Demon Tealm will
be caught up in this.

If I don't do this, I'm not a man!

Huh? What am I going to do, you ask?
I'm not telling you!

Next time: "An Unexpected Proposal--
A Change in the Demon Realm"

This is starting to get interesting!

Behind closed eyes,
only longing arises,

as to the sleeping
season I bid good-bye.

More than kindness that
sparkles in the distance,

I'd rather have just
one thing that I want.

Having passed through
a city of cold glass,

I want to touch your hands,
and confirm your feelings.

It's just a dream I'm
having with my eyes open,

for me to be hugging you so tightly.

Although the wind may blow, the rain
may fall, and my heart may waver,

if it's a dream I'm
having with my eyes open,

it's okay if now I get hurt.

I can be as gentle as the
sky is unpredictable.

If it's a dream I'm
having with my eyes open,

it's okay if now I get hurt.

I can be as gentle as the
sky is unpredictable.
