January 10th, the case of Bárbara Hidalgo.

[gentle nostalgic music plays]

THE MYSTERIOUS VANISHING
OF BÁRBARA HIDALGO

She had just been appointed CEO of Medusa.

She's the most desired
and feared woman in all of Barranquilla.

The most seductive snake
on the head of Medusa.

Medusa is a monster corporation

that's wrapped itself around the neck
of the entire country's economy.

It's got banks,

supermarkets, construction companies,

real estate,

restaurants,

harbors,

telecommunications,

even a baseball team.

I'm sure most of you are
well aware of the amount of work,

effort, and sacrifice

that are behind those of us
who lead this company every day.

Now, I've fulfilled a dream

by becoming the brand-new CEO of Medusa.

[Danger] That family's
really f*cked up, man.

Royalty of Barranquilla.

And out of nowhere,
one of their yachts explodes

with the soon-to-be-queen
of all this sh*t onboard? Oh, please.

After going to visit the family,

everything got really weird.

[intriguing music playing]

[grunts]

[detective] Ortiz.

Afternoon.

-I'm here to see the family.
-[policeman over radio] He's authorized.

Detective.

Good afternoon.

I am Detective Danger Carmelo.

I'm in charge of the investigation
and the search for your family member.

I came here to talk to you
and take your statements.

We're listening.

[mysterious music playing]

[Danger] Much like the mythical Medusa,

adorned with snakes
that strike on their own,

the poisonous serpents
within the conglomerate

are each of the Hidalgos,

who compete furiously to stand out
and earn the old man's approval.

I mean, my cousin Bárbara…

she drowned.

Well, I'm afraid we can't yet confirm
what really happened to your cousin.

[chuckles] Right, of course.

Whatever you say.

[Danger] First,
there's the good-for-nothing cousin,

the baby snake, Jacobo Hidalgo,

Sporting Deputy Director of all divisions
of the Babilla Baseball Club.

The guy couldn't give two shits

if poor Bárbara is alive,
or if she was eaten by sharks.

Detective Danger.

Did your folks know the meaning
of the name they gave you?

-No, I'm sure they didn't.
-Right, must've thought it sounded fancy.

That arrogant piece of sh*t truly believes
that his farts don't stink.

[aluminum tab snaps open]

[Danger] Uncle Camilo, the Hidalgo dandy,

the snake that bites the hardest,

so that his brother never gets
his own hands dirty.

Vice president of imports,
exports, harbors and merchant fleet.

My niece Barbarita and I
are extremely close.

She's a very smart girl,

a woman we need
and welcome in this company.

He put on a sad face,
but I don't really buy it.

They pretend
they're this really tight-knit family,

but it's just an act.

His wife won't even let him touch her.

[church bells chime]

I wonder how many times Jackie's messed up
to be repenting that hard.

Just a bunch of snakes pretending to pray.

What happens to Bárbara
is up to God's will.

That's how we see it.

[Danger] Jacqueline Hidalgo,

Vice president of non-profit foundations.

It wasn't long before
she had set up a saint-like altar.

She was having a wake
for her niece right there.

[church bells continue to chime]

[detective] Yo, don't you pay
a maintenance fee here or something?

Your elevator is always out of order.

5 DAYS LATER

Come on, man.
You gotta start working out, seriously.

No way.

Here, have a cold one.

No time to waste, am I right?

Man, you better check this out.

[Danger] Cristian Hidalgo
is now the new CEO of Medusa.

Another one who doesn't give
two shits about the situation.

Definitely, it's in his best interest
for Bárbara to stay missing.

company-related issues.

I have much to say about her.

Well, not that quiet.

the doe-eyed half-sister,

Do you have any information
that could be useful?

I wish, detective.

But I don't.

[Danger] Viviana seems to wanna say
something she shouldn't.

[Viviana] Same.

I'm sorry, sir, I have nothing
that could be of use.

[Danger] And the husband?
Where do I even start?

Fake as sh*t.

Bárbara's husband,
and the Purchasing Director.

You should be at sea
right now rescuing my wife.

Wanna help? Then go to the press already.

And beg those jerks
to quit running their mouths.

Okay, but don't you control the media?
What the f*ck am I supposed to tell them?

You can stop with the all the bullshit.

You know what I mean, don't you?

[Danger] That man
has probably been stabbed in the back

by his wife and her family
more times than he can count.

I'm sure of it.
