01x11 - Deep Trent/Disaster Play

Post by bunniefuu »

Just a little further.

-Mama needs her honey.
-Oh, come on.

-Oh, you rascal.
-[making wet noises]

-Mmm.
-Give it...

-Oh! Uh!
-Hey!

[sizzling, bubbling]

[Pliny] Okay, everybody!

It's time for
Kiss, Marry, Trash with
the Compo 12 mini-computer,

the Fruit Basket 20,

and the Big Stack 3000.

Okay, who would want
to kiss a computer?

[grunts] Kiss Fruit Basket 20,
trash the Compo,
marry Big Stack.

It's stability and strength
are unmatched.

It's solid state drive alone
could make a man--

-[all gasping]
-Everyone is going to die!

Ah! Big Stacks,
you wanna do this?

[computer whirring]

No, you kids
aren't going to die.

It's the mutants.

Somebody--

-Could have been anybody.
-Could have been anybody.

Jammed a beehive
into the volcano hole!

Isn't that, like,
the third time this month?

-Could have been anybody.
-Could have been anybody.

But when
that mother blows,

it's gonna send
a wave of scalding honey

and furious bees straight
towards the mutant market!

Could have been anybody.

-Shouldn't we warn them?
-Yes.

You all definitely should.

I'd warn them myself,
but ever since
"the small incident..."

A whole city... gone.

They just refuse
to listen to me.

Anyways, you have five hours.

Bye!

All right g*ng, five hours
isn't a lot of time
so let's get to business.

Best way to warn
hundreds of mutants
about impending doom?

Go!

Back in school,
we put together this thing
called "Citric Acid."

Orange You Glad You Brushed
Your Teeth So The Citric Acid
Doesn't Soften Your Teeth?"

Wild Roger Bilbins
came up with the orange pun.

So you can see why he had
the nickname "wild."

Yes.

Anyway,

it was an informational
play and it really seemed
to land with folks.

A play? [gasps]

We're doing the play!

-I'm down.
-That's a great idea.

-Let's do a play!
-Okay! Super, let's do that.

A play? In a couple hours
that hot hive is going to wipe
out an entire community!

So we better get started!

I can direct.

-I will star, obviously.
-I'll do the music!

I'm already holding paper.

I can write the script.

I'll do the lighting!

And I'll do the acting also!

-[Chip] Hmm...
-Uh...

Uh...

Do you have any... experience?

Alas...

I do not.

[shouting]
One of my greatest shames!

-[banging]
-Merian, stop!

You don't have to do this.

I'm not.

I was acting!

Good, right?

Where is this coming from?

I thought you hated acting
because acting--

Because acting is another
form of lying, I know.

But then I started
to read this book
I found in the dirt bin!

Oh, I found a rat
that now lives in my mouth
in that bin.

[squeaks]

It's called "How to Act:
The SPEB Method."

I just need to use
the four pillars of SPEB.

Show teeth. Project!

[whispering] Eye contact.

And Broad Gestures!

Oh, no!

A volcano has engulfed me!

[grunting, groaning]

[shouting]

[whispering] Eye contact.

[shivers]

So?

Did I get the part?

[all] Uh...

Oh! You could be
Sara's understudy!

No can do.

Sara is Sara's understudy.

[whispering] Eye contact...

Ugh!

Fine, how about understudy
to the understudy?

What do you say?

[grunting]

I don't like that!

[grunting]

JK! Acting again!

I'd love to.
I'd absolutely love that.
That sounds great.

All right, g*ng!

The clock is ticking
and we've got
a play to put on!

-Give it back!
-[grunts]

[grunting]

And... action!

[clears throat]

Attention mutants.

The market is going to be
destroyed by a hot hive.

Thank you.

Great job!

How's the response?

[all shouting indistinctly]

Hmm,
nobody's paying attention!

I don't understand.

I copied the script
from my old school play.

People don't want old!

They want something new,
fresh, and exciting!

There are some really
exciting ideas in SPEB.

Like using branches
or rocks while running
towards your audience.

No ideas
from the understudies.

[in soft voice]
It's the law of the stage,
I'm sorry.

We all need to dig down deep

and use our talents

to put on the biggest show
this island has ever seen.

I'll gather more instruments!

I could add
some pyrotechnics...

I'll provide all
the harnesses, cables,
and pulley systems

required for high-tension
wire flying.

I'll keep studying!

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

We don't have much time
before the hive
is going to explode...

...which is why
we'll have to really focus

to make this the best play
in the world fast.

[straining]

So, I've made a few
minor changes to the script.

[inhales]

I begin centerstage,

emerging from
my titanium space egg.

I've come to do battle
with my former kissing friend

who spurned me
and traveled through time
to ruin my ancestors.

[groaning]

All right.

Woah. These fireworks
are perfect, Chip.

They gotta be bigger!

Uh, yeah,
I'm thinking bigger.

Yes, ma'am.

Ooh. This is really going to
dazzle the crowd.

[chuckles] Wee!

-Faster.
-Ah!

-[screaming]
-It's gotta be higher.

[grunting]

Mm-hmm. Yeah.

I love the energy.

-[whispers] Fire her.
-[grunting continues]

I turned this old foghorn
into an amp!

My favorite preset is just
called, "That Dawg."

[dogs barking rhythmically]

[whispers] You're the only one
I can trust.

-Zip.
-Zap.

Zop!

-Zip.
-Zap.

Zop! [grunting]

[all speaking indistinctly]

Fight! Fight!

[all gasping]

[♪ music playing]

[over PA system]
Welcome mutants!

Prepare to feast
your eyes on the informational
epic of the century.

[guffawing]

[all gasping]

[all exclaiming]

Will you look at that?

-Yeah!
-[all gasping]

[breathing heavily]
You have
breakdanced valiantly,

Time Wizard.

Now you're dead,

and I'm taking
your wizard blades.

[all exclaiming]

Look, look! The mutants
are really getting into it!

They ain't seen nothing yet.

Big Boom Boy
to Li'l Maestro.

You ready, good buddy?

Affirmative, good buddy!

-Hit it, mouth rat.
-[squeaking]

[♪ piano playing]

It's my time to fly.

-Higher!
-[all] Ooh.

[♪ piano continues playing]

Faster!

Faster and higher!

[tempo increasing]

Whoa! Whoo!

Uh-oh.

Here I go.

[Sara shouting]

[shouting]

[tempo increasing]

[Sara shouting, screaming]

[groans]

[all exclaiming]

-Oh my goodness.
-Oh, no.

Oh no, we're losing them!

If we don't do something,
our play is doomed!

That's why you have...

the understudy
to the understudy!

Hit it, Chip.

Oh, boy.

[all exclaiming]

Okay, okay.

-Is she gonna pull this off?
-[squeaking]

Is she gonna save the show?

[inhales sharply]

Let SPEB be your guide.

Mutants of yore!

Yep, play is ruined.

I'm here to relay a message.

Oh, this is a disaster.

Look into my eyes
and see my visible teeth.

Uproot yourselves from your
lethargic slumber...

Huh? I can't believe it.
I think they like it.

That one chimp mutant
seems really into it.

I don't think he's happy.

Well, he's definitely engaged.

I guess SPEB really
does teach you how--

not to act around chimps
if you want to live?

[screaming]

-[screeching]
-[screaming]

[grunts]

shrieking

No! My debut
as a director is ruined!

I'll never work again...

[shrieking]

[all exclaiming]

Oh, my gosh,
there's a hot hive behind
this confusing play!

Run, everybody!

[all shouting]

-Oh, right.
-The hot hive.

That's what we were trying
to warn them about.

Oh, yeah,
I totally forgot about that.

[all shouting indistinctly]

We're all gonna die
creative failures!

This is exactly how Mouth Rat
told me I would go.

-[all scream]
-Brace for impact!

[all shouting]

We're alive?

Ugh!

Now we have
to live with ourselves?

Wait, Pliny, look!

[wood creaking]

-[all cheering]
-[Chip] The mutants are okay!

We saved everybody!

Our play was a success!

Um, we didn't just
save lives today...

-we touched lives.
-[cheering]

We made art.

-Yeah, yes we did.
We are artists.
-We did. We really are.

Closer, Mr. Okay.

Closer.

[grunts]

[slurps]

Ah! Finally perfect.

Ascend, Mr. Okay!

Ascend!

We forgot about the bees!

[all shouting]

[♪ theme music playing]

Chirp
