08x20 - A Plan of Action

[theme music]

[Jean] Your assignment is to k*ll Greg Sumner.

-You're joking, right? -I've never been more serious.

You want me to k*ll Gregory Sumner.

It's not a request.

It's an order.

I'm not a member of your little organization.

I don't take orders.

Sumner leaves Thursday night to finalize the purchase

of the Stratadyne plant.

We can't allow that. We want him dead.

I can't believe I'm hearing this.

Watch my lips, lady. I'm not your boy.

You have... 54 hours.

You and your boys shove it.

Do your worst. k*ll me.

It's not just you we'll k*ll, daddy.

It's so upsetting. I'm never gonna get this script right.

-Whose idea was this? -[horn honking]

What?

[screeching tires]

[suspenseful music]

[screeching tires]

Whoa!

[exhales]

[phone ringing]

This place is really busy.

They're always expanding.

They're building a new nightclub.

I'm sure my mom can find you a job here.

-Here's her office. -You think it's a good idea?

Oh, yeah. I told you so last night.

-Hi. -Hi, Karen.

-Hello. -Hello.

-Uh, we're having tea with Mom. -Oh?

Paige says it's very English.

I'll meet you in there, okay?

You, um, haven't been home the last couple of nights.

-Are you okay? -Yes, thank you. I'm fine.

I just stayed at the ranch with Olivia.

Oh.

Well, my...

offer still stands if you want to stay with us.

Is my mother still at the house?

She's at a hotel.

-I'll take you up on your offer. -Okay.

Yeah, it's a good idea.

Get me on your side now that we have a common enemy.

[sighs] Your mother is not my enemy.

[Paige] Are you so sure?

You don't know my mother. She's full of surprises.

Actually...

It puts me in a wonderful position.

Right in the middle of you, and Anne, and Mack.

Paige...

What is it that you want?

I don't know, exactly.

But when I do, you'll be the first to know.

Now, if you'll excuse me,

I have an appointment with Mrs. Ewing.

Before you say anything, I'm okay.

-Are you sure? -Yeah, I'm fine.

-What happened? -It was nothing.

I'm really more concerned about the story meeting,

than the silly darn accident.

You said somebody ran you off the road.

Yeah, he was coming from behind, he tried to pass me,

and he sort of pushed me off the road.

Did he yell anything at you? Did he say anything at all?

No. I think he was just in a big hurry,

and he didn't care who was in his way.

Was his license plate from California or out of state?

Ben, I don't know, my mind was...

You know, just thinking about this meeting.

Can you describe the man or the car he was in?

-Ben! -This is important, damn it!

Now, can you describe the man or the car he was in?

Well, it was a truck or something.

-What color? -Dark blue!

Let's just forget about it, okay?

I'm just glad I wasn't hurt.

I expected you to be upset about the car.

The garage is gonna call us later with an estimate.

I'll call the insurance company and get the damage report.

Are you okay?

Ben, I'm fine.

Are you okay?

Karen says you want a job at Lotus Point.

Uh-huh.

You know, you could've come to me.

You didn't have to ask Abby.

Well, it kind of puts Karen right in the middle, you know.

Well, it was Olivia's idea.

I told her I wanted to pay my own way, and I needed a job.

Well, for the record, I think it would be nice for both of us.

Lotus Point is a family affair, with Eric working there.

I'm looking forward to starting.

Good.

Is that gonna be a temporary job or are you looking to stay?

I don't know.

Or if you're asking if I plan to go back east,

the answer to that is no.

-[doorbell rings] -Good!

And the offer still stands. You can stay here with us.

I want you right here with your father.

My father? I haven't got a better offer.

[Karen] Oh, Anne, come in.

-Mother. -Smile.

I hope I'm not interrupting anything.

Oh, no, we were just having...

-Hi. Gotta kiss the cook. -Hi.

Paige, I'm surprised to see you here.

I never know where you'll show up next.

I hope you'll accept this small gift as a thank you for being

so kind to Paige and me.

For putting up with the two of us.

Well, you shouldn't have.

-Sit down. -Thanks.

I hope you like it.

[Mack] Yeah, that was very sweet of you. Thank you.

It's the least I could do.

And how are you, my little lamb?

-Fine, mother. -[Karen] Oh!

This is...

Mack, look.

It's really lovely.

I've always adored them.

I hoped you would, too.

You'll have to find some place to feature it.

It loves to be looked at.

Paige.

I'm looking for a place here.

I'd like you to come live with me.

We could both get better reacquainted.

And be near your father at the same time.

What do you say?

[soft music]

[Jean] Your assignment is to k*ll Greg Sumner.

[Ben] I don't believe this is happening.

[Jean] You have... 54 hours.

[Ben] You and your boys, shove it.

Do your worst. k*ll me.

[Jean] It's not just you we'll k*ll, daddy.

[door opening]

What the hell is going on here? Oh!

That was a pretty slimy trick of yours yesterday,

running my wife's car off the road.

It wasn't us.

You sure you weren't trying to make one of your points?

If you will let me go,

I will give you the license of the hit-and-run driver.

It was an accident, Ben, I know.

Because we had one of our guys follow Val.

You know, you guys have changed your style since the old days.

This isn't standard operating procedure.

Oh, no.

You're not CIA.

Who and...

No. It doesn't matter who you are.

-If you hurt my wife... -You'll what?

I will k*ll you.

[laughs]

A guy after me, and the fella after him?

Ben. k*ll Greg Sumner.

Or say goodbye to your family.

You will see we're not kidding.

The damage wasn't too bad.

You're gonna need some body work. That'll take a few days.

I'm sure your insurance will cover it.

Anything else wrong with the car?

Well, I gave it a pretty good going-over.

No frame damage. Wheel alignment okay.

Would you go it again, please?

Ben, I'm sure it's fine. Let's just take the car.

Would you go over it again, please?

I tell you, I didn't see anything.

Just do me a favor, okay?

Ben, I've gotta go back and get dressed.

I want him to go over the car again okay?

After an accident like this, there may be damage

that nobody saw. We don't know these guys from Adam.

-You check out the brakes? -I went over the whole car.

-Did you road-test the car? -Yes, I did yesterday.

-When your wife brought it in. -Come on, Ben.

-What is the matter with you? -Where's the steering wheel?

[mechanic] Willy, you take that steering wheel off?

-What the hell's going on? -There it is.

[Willy] Who removed it?

[suspenseful music]

Ben.

I want you to tell me what's going on.

Let's take a walk.

[Val] I don't want an ice cream. I want an explanation.

A chocolate fudge bar, please.

-Val? -I told you, I don't want...

-The same. -Two, please.

Thank you.

-What, Ben? -Sit down.

Do you remember that hypothetical story I told you

when I was trying to decide

whether to run that expose or not?

What expose? I'm sorry, I don't know.

About a guy that got involved with a group

that had planted a couple of bombs.

What?

We talked about it all night long.

We were in the kitchen making pasta at the time, remember?

And somebody was accidentally k*lled?

This guy had no idea that the bombs were even being planned.

Right, and you thought that he wasn't really guilty.

I remember...

Morally, he's not guilty, but legally...

I could still be held accountable.

I?

You were talking about yourself?

Anyway, this group is back, and they know I have a family.

At first, they threatened to expose me,

and I can live with that.

But now, they've involved you and the babies.

How?

What I've been doing at Galveston Industries

is industrial spying.

I'm involved.

And now they want me to do even more.

What? More? What?

Smile.

-What? -Smile, and keep smiling.

They want me to k*ll Gregory Sumner.

You know, I heard about this old lady in Vermont.

She's the publisher of a newspaper

that only prints good news.

I'm gonna get a subscription to that newspaper.

Not gonna change the facts.

I don't wanna hear about the facts.

-They're too depressing. -Then stop reading.

How do you keep the kids from seeing this

in the newspapers and on television?

You don't. It's reality.

They learn to live with it. That's life!

It says here, Greg, that Galveston Industries

is closing eight plants nationwide.

-Did you know that? -Of course.

Well, why?

I mean, did you have to?

Simple, not cost-effective.

What about all those jobs? I mean,

isn't there a deal you can make with a union or something,

or, I don't know, retool,

or whatever it takes to save those jobs?

There you go, not being realistic again.

[Laura] Realistic?

What happened to the guy with all those dreams?

Did they die as he left the Senate?

You know, life didn't quite turn out

the way you planned, but so what?

You have more money and more power

than you ever could have imagined.

No red tape. You call the shots.

Why don't you use that power to keep the plants open?

I guess I can assume that you don't agree with my decision.

Greg, stop kidding around.

I never know who you are anymore.

Well, I guess if you don't know who I am anymore,

and you're so unhappy around here,

maybe you should go back to the cul-de-sac.

Is that what you want?

[Greg] What I want?

What difference does it make what I want?

Did you ask me if I wanted to be a parent?

No.

You're a big girl.

You're capable of making your own choice.

[Val] We should go to the police.

-No. -We could explain it to them.

They could help us. It could be worked out.

How could it be worked out? It's too late for that.

Why is it too late?

Did you see what they did to your car?

-These guys mean business. -Well, then so do you.

You just tell them the truth. We'll get police protection.

How can I get police protection?

I can't prove any of this.

We're probably being followed right now.

We can't take that chance, neither you nor I,

because... the kids could be k*lled.

Well, then we're gonna go to the police right now.

If we went to the police right now...

...you and I would be at the police station.

-Right. -Where would Bobby and Betsy be?

They'd be at home with mama.

Alone.

My God.

You'll have all the legal clearance you need,

Lotus Point will finally have that night spot

you've always wanted.

I have been working on this for so long, I can't believe it.

-Thank you for your help. -You're welcome.

I'm so excited.

We're finally gonna have the kind of clientele here

that I've always wanted.

You know, with the club and our ocean site,

we're gonna be able to attract the international traveler.

The jet set comes to Lotus Point?

Why not?

You know, I'm sure that we can create the kind of ambiance

that that kind of clientele wants.

You know, very, very exclusive.

I haven't seen you this happy in months.

Now I won't take no for an answer.

State senator was seen escorting the beautiful, the charming,

the soon-to-be-divorced Mrs. Ewing

to the opening of her new night spot.

It was a sensation.

[knocking on door]

[clears throat] Come in.

Oh, I'm sorry. Did I interrupt?

No. Senator Hollister was just leaving.

Oh, do you know Paige? Paige Matheson.

She's Mack's daughter. She just started working for us.

Good luck.

Thanks.

Congratulations on the club, Mrs. Ewing.

Bye-bye, Paige.

-Olivia! -Hi.

Your mom's told me the great progress you've made.

I didn't know she discussed my private life.

Well, she's just real proud

of the way you're handling your drug problem.

You should be congratulated.

Thank you.

I just had to understand that it was my problem.

That's the key. Keep up the good work.

-Bye. -Bye.

It's right over here, Ms. Matheson.

[knocking]

Senator Hollister.

Paige.

So, you joined the working class.

Well, I have to earn my rent money.

I wasn't invited to stay with you.

You said you understood.

Hey, you could make it up to me

by taking me to the club opening.

Abby has already asked me to be her escort.

You know, good PR.

Ah, business before pleasure.

Well, we could make some post-opening plans.

Call me here.

-[knocking] -[Anne] Lotus Point is lovely.

-I had no idea. -[Karen] Well, thank you.

No, it's beautiful. It's so well-planned.

I didn't even get lost.

I usually can't find my way out of the driveway.

-How do you take it? -Black.

Oh, good.

Well, I think, uh, it's a good environment for Paige.

The staff is very friendly, almost like a family.

I'm sure that's your influence.

I wouldn't mind living here myself.

You know, as a matter of fact, Lotus Point would be ideal.

That way I could be close to Paige,

and you and I could see more of each other, too.

Oh, well...

That would be very nice.

I'll see if I can arrange it.

Thank you. That's very nice of you.

You must promise to let me reciprocate

by you being my guest when you come east.

[Ben] The important thing right now is that we behave as usual,

nothing out of the norm.

Remember, when you go into the house, there's a possibility

that it could be bugged.

I can't go to that meeting and talk about my script today.

I'll be a blithering idiot. I'll be a basket case.

You have to go to your meeting, we both have to stick

to our original schedules.

-Go to your meeting. -Okay, fine.

I'm gonna take mom and the kids with me.

-Please don't, Val, okay? -Why?

What I'm saying right now is that the most important thing

is to get those kids and you and Lilimae

safely out of their reach.

To do that, we have to accomplish a great deal

in very little time, and look normal doing it.

So you go to your meeting,

and let Lilimae run some of the errands.

Ben, this is absolutely crazy.

I mean, what about clothes and money?

I was supposed to pick up vitamins for the kids today.

[Ben] Lilimae can do that.

Cash, we need to get cash.

We'll have to clean out Lilimae's account.

If we cleaned out our account, it'd be too obvious.

Well, what's she gonna think?

I've got to tell her something. It's not gonna work.

Just tell her it's an emergency, all right?

Tell her it's a tax audit.

-I can't do it. -You've gotta do it.

That's our only chance, and you've got to keep your cool.

Okay, okay, okay. We've gotta have a timetable.

All right, it's 11:15 now. What time's your meeting?

[Val] 11:15. It's in an hour.

Well, it'll probably be over at 1:30, maybe the latest, 2:00.

[Ben] All right, have Lilimae meet you at the market at 3:00.

[Val] Wait a minute. I don't have a car.

That's right. We're gonna need to get a different car.

Okay, but for now, take a cab.

Here's some money for you.

-3:30. -Yes.

Check out of the market.

This is important. Don't go out the front door.

-Why? -Just talk to the store manager.

Tell him one of the kids has to use the bathroom or whatever.

Go out the back door, and meet me on the loading dock.

I don't think that I can do this.

You have to.

I know.

Okay, so we do it.

What are we gonna do?

The important thing is right now we get out of here alive, okay?

-Yes. -Okay, now kiss, kiss.

-All right? -All right.

-Makeup, everything cool? -Yep.

-All right? I love you, too. -I love you.

-Have a nice day, dear. -Thank you.

-See you tonight. -Okay.

No, I know it's noon and it's last minute, but...

Oh, thank you. I really do appreciate it.

Yeah, thank you very much.

Okay, bye-bye.

Mama!

[pop music]

Mama!

-How's the car? -It's fine, mama.

Look, mama, I have got a terrible day ahead of me,

and I need all the help that you can give me, okay?

What're you talking about? Have I done something?

Oh, no, mama, of course not.

It's just I'm just sort of nervous about my meeting.

-Oh, that radio is loud. -I know. Come here.

Sit down here.

The exterminator is going to fumigate the house today.

-Today? -Yes, today.

So I want you to be out of here,

and I want you to take the kids with you.

Don't ask. I don't have time to explain right now. And...

Oh, mama...

I did the stupidest thing, and I need you to go

to the bank this afternoon and close out your savings account.

What?

Just withdraw all the money, okay?

Now, what is the matter? There's some kind of trouble.

-Let me lower that radio. -Don't!

No, no, mama, I love that song. Don't do that.

It's Ben, isn't it?

That cash, all that cash I found that time.

Is he gambling?

No, mama, it has nothing to do with Ben.

In fact, I don't even want him to know about it, all right?

Now, I'm going to meet you at the supermarket at 3:00 sharp,

so you're going to have to go to the bank first.

And then I made you a list of things to do after the bank.

And don't forget to pick up the vitamins for the kids

at Edwards Pharmacy. That's very important.

Valene, are you going to be all right?

Well, of course I am, mama.

Now, remember, don't bring the children back here

after the exterminator, because the fumes

are going to be just awful.

All the plants are going to die.

[Valene] Never mind about the plants.

You just keep your eye on both of those children at all times.

Now, I'm not going to ask anything more of Ben,

but I am your mother, and you can always talk to me

and tell me anything.

-No matter what. -I know that, mama, I know.

You just do exactly what I told you to do here, all right?

-Three o'clock sharp. Right. -At the supermarket.

Now, I'm going to go upstairs now and change for my meeting.

Oh, it's chilly today, so I want you to dress warm,

and I want you to bring extra sweaters for the kids.

-All right? -Oh, sh**t. Valene.

Mama, you are very special.

And I want you to know I love you very much.

You'll do it, huh?

Oh!

[music stops]

[sighs]

How's it going, boss?

Fine.

Although I do believe that my mail spawns mail.

I've got to be on every charity list ever invented.

I see you have a new gate and security guard.

[Greg] That's what I like about you, Ben.

You always have your eyes open,

and you're always paying attention.

Here.

You're going to have to wear this around here from now on.

We live in troubled times, son.

Do we ever.

But we do our jobs, right, Ben?

As best we can.

-Where's Laura? -[Greg] Laura, uh...

I don't know, she's out spending some of that money

she hates to see me earn, I guess.

Do you ever mind working out here all alone?

It's kind of isolated, don't you miss the office?

Ha ha, what are you, sick?

I feel like landed gentry.

I'm starting to understand why Galveston

kept such a low profile.

All of this is for Peter.

I want you to go through it and decide who he calls,

who he writes, and what appearances he makes.

It's your responsibility, and I want it done while I'm away.

You got a problem, Ben?

You got something you want to say to me?

No.

I better get to work, I've got a busy schedule today.

Good idea.

[children chatter]

There is a penalty for early withdrawal.

Oh, yes, yes, I understand.

You also do lose a great deal of interest.

Oh, interest, too.

Yes, ma'am.

Oh, well.

[Mr. Oliver] Here's the cash you requested,

and I've put the balance in the cashier's check for you.

Oh, thank you, Mr. Oliver.

By the way, did we do anything here at the bank

that made you decide to close your account?

No, no, no, it's just a personal matter.

I see.

Oh, don't forget your book.

-Oh, thank you very much. -You're welcome.

-Have a good day, ma'am. -Okay, let's get going, get up.

-Bye-bye. -Bye-bye.

Bye-bye.

-Bye. -Bye-bye.

[laughter]

Come here.

Gary, I have a two o'clock meeting,

and this is my first day back at work.

Well, they're not going to fire you if you're five minutes late.

On the other hand, now that Abby's going to take me

for everything I'm worth, we could use the money.

Well, I don't think we have to have

a Gary Ewing fundraiser just yet.

If we do, we could always hold it at the Lotus Point nightclub.

-Score two for Abby. -Score one for us.

Gary, I need to get back to work,

and I don't want you to distract me.

Right. Yeah, you got your meeting.

And I want to see Mack anyway, so... suffer.

I can't believe how the work's piled up at my desk.

It's going to take a lot of overtime to catch up.

Right. We could use the money.

Speaking of that, dinner's on you tonight.

-Thanks for lunch. -Oh, you're welcome.

-Dinner will be more expensive. -I know.

Now, I love this scene. I know exactly how I want to play it.

I just don't know what I'm going to wear.

Well, I've been working with Andre,

and he's very excited about doing your clothes.

Andre?

-Andre of Hollywood. -Yeah, I know who he is.

I'm just wondering, why do we need him?

I mean, she's just a plain country girl from Tennessee.

That's what this script is about.

Believe me, he knows how to dress stars.

He's the best.

Okay.

Uh, now, Scene 37,

I love it, but when she comes in,

I think that she should say more.

More?

I rewrote it to say less.

I thought you liked this scene.

Oh, I do, I love it,

I've been working on it with my coach, and he,

well, I felt that she's just too passive there.

Well, in a way, she is.

She's intimidated by the situation.

See, words didn't come easily.

I mean, that's the way it really happened.

Val, we don't want to do a documentary.

We want to do good TV drama.

But this is the one scene that I thought we all agreed on.

Well, let's just be loose and let our feelings flow.

I think that a few more lines

will just emphasize her intimidation.

No, don't you see, they won't, more words diminish it.

I say, play it, don't say it.

That's very clever.

Now, look, you add lines if you want to,

or cut them if you want to.

I'm just telling you how it really was

and how it felt, because I lived it.

And right now, God willing,

I have got the rest of my life to live.

So call me when you've both decided what you finally want.

[door slamming]

What was that all about?

Isn't that great? A writer with integrity.

I was sure your mother called. Why didn't they tell her then

that they were out of your vitamin prescription?

Bobby, wait a minute. Your shoelace.

Oh, such a fool's errand.

Well, that's what I feel like today.

You know, I almost bought you those

vitamins in the shape of little animals.

But I knew your mama would send them back.

Well, he did say,

"The vitamins will be in tomorrow, Miss Clements."

Oh, look at the time. It's flying. It's almost two.

It's time for my darling's afternoon snack.

Come on, kids. I know just the place.

Uma can have a pot of tea.

Come on. It's tea time.

-Ben? -Val.

What a surprise. Nice to see you.

Sumner, nice seeing you.

Is Ben around?

No, I was waiting to see him myself.

When do you expect him back?

Well, I don't really know. I just stopped by

on the chance that I might catch him in.

I just have to go over some last minute details

with him before I leave. I've changed my schedule.

I'm going to leave tomorrow at noontime

instead of at midnight. So when you see him,

tell him I've got to talk to him.

Absolutely.

[suspenseful music]

[car starts]

-Laura. Hi. -Hi.

Well, what are you doing here? Returning some things?

No, I'm just returning.

Oh.

-Greg? -Mm-hmm.

Oh, I'm sorry.

Yeah, well, that makes two of us.

[sighs]

Well, how does he feel about this?

Oh, he's fine. He suggested it.

I can't believe he wanted you to move out.

Well, it's the old theory.

You know, a little time and space will do us both some good.

What about the baby?

We're, having a girl. You knew that.

I knew that.

Two boys and...

now a little girl.

Yeah, just like you.

Well, we'll be able to see each other a lot more often

with the opening of the nightclub at Lotus Point.

There's a lot of work to be done, and...

Well, I sure could use your input.

Well, I'll be there.

Help keep my mind off of things, right?

Right.

I've missed my neighbor.

Oh, you've got company.

Yeah, that's Paige's mom, Anne.

Come on, I'll introduce you.

No, no, no. I'm really not in the mood right now.

It's late, and I've got to make the kids dinner.

-I'll see you later. -All right.

Anne?

Anne?

Karen, over here.

I took the chance you'd be home.

Your office said you left for the day.

Oh, well, I'm glad you came by.

I can't remember. Did I leave my gloves with you the other night?

I haven't noticed them, but we'll have another look.

Here we go.

Well, uh, can I

get you a cup of coffee or, uh...

-A drink would be fine. -Oh, uh, diet or regular?

Scotch.

Okay, um...

All right.

Um...

Look around for yourself. Uh, maybe you'll find them.

I lose them by the dozen.

I love it when I just lose one.

-Oh, uh, do you want ice? -No.

-There you go. -Aren't you going to join me?

No, I don't drink.

-Salud. -Cheers.

[sighs]

Karen...

I think Paige should live with me.

Well, I think she's

old enough to take care of herself

and make up her own mind about things.

But she knows that you and Mack want her to stay here.

Well, I-I think it's nice if Paige and Mack

spent some time together and got to know each other.

And keep her away from me?

No, not at all.

I'm her mother, not you.

I thought she was dead.

We need some time to repair the damage between us.

I think Mack can help.

[Anne] With Paige here, it further separates us.

It separates the three of us.

Mack is her father. I am her mother.

-She needs us both. -She has you both.

I think you're trying to keep her from me.

I think you're using Paige to keep Mack near you.

That's not true.

Mack is free to see whomever he wants.

Whenever he wants.

Then you wouldn't mind if Paige and Mack and I

spent a weekend together?

That would meet with your approval?

As I said, it's up to them.

[suspenseful music]

[Lilimae] Val!

Oh, mama. Thank God.

Oh, sweetie. Come on, baby.

What's the matter, Bobby? Oh, he's tired.

Come on, Betsy. Come on, hon'. Here we go.

I'll get that. Thank you.

You can just keep the change, okay?

Oh, here. Here. Sorry.

Mama, where have you been?

I have been running all these errands.

And I went to the bank like you asked.

I just hate carrying around all this cash.

And without a car. I've been trying to get a cab.

Mama, I've been worried sick about you.

Oh, can't we just go home? I mean, they're tired.

They didn't have their afternoon nap. We can shop later.

Mama, we can't shop later. We have to shop now.

And I made one list for each of us to help save time.

Valene, I don't know what is the matter with you.

-Did you get their vitamins? -They're tired. I'm tired.

No, they were all out of vitamins.

-I'll get them tomorrow. -Tomorrow?

Mama, why didn't you get them?

I told you they were out of vitamins, Valene.

-What is the matter with you? -Just bring her in with you.

-Let's get started. -Betsy, hold my hand.

This shopping list, I don't know what's the matter

with your mama. We'll talk about this when we get home.

Why are we going out the back?

Val, we have to call for a cab.

Oh, Valene.

Ben? Where'd you get this car?

Mama, please don't ask questions.

Just take Bobby, and get into the car.

Oh, what a day. I mean...

Ben, what is going on?

We're in a hurry right now.

I will explain after we get on the way, all right?

What a day this has been. I mean, honestly.

[Valene] Why don't you jump in the car?

[Lilimae] Yes, it's okay, sweetie.

-Valene. -Mama.

[Lilimae] There's some trouble. Now, why don't you tell me?

Maybe I can help.

Val?

Mama, take her back there, and strap her in.

I know there's trouble, I knew it

when you asked me to empty my bank account.

Mama, stop. Now, as soon as we get out of town.

-It's all going to be fine. -Out of town? Where we going?

Just out, okay?

But for how long? I mean, why didn't you tell me?

I'm not prepared. I mean, the baby...

Mama, that's what the money was for, all right?

Lilimae, it's all very complicated.

Just as soon as we get settled...

[horn honking]

Hi.

What a coincidence.

I see you're out shopping with the entire family.

You know I know a wonderful store nearby

that's having a sale on vitamins.
