- Well, the problem is the machinery's so complicated,
- Then let's get you a little help.
[Cranking]
- Surprise!

[Groans]

Grumpy: this is very delicate machinery.

Here's what the sparkle sprayer needs to look like.

- Pink makes it look more cheerful.
- [Shudders] it's not supposed to be cheerful!

You're using the wrong gears!
Oh, now I have to redo everything myself.
[Noisemaker]
- Surprise!
- Do you like the streamers?
I think they make the machine way more fun.
- Why are you wasting time on streamers?
None of you are helping at all!
Everything is wrong!
Can't you just do things the grumpy way?
- We'd like to help the grumpy way,
But we don't know what you want.
- Unless our jobs are supposed to be a surprise.
- I don't have time to baby-sit all of ya and build a machine.
- It would go a lot faster if you'd just tell us how to help.

- Hmm. Not very good plans, but I guess they'll do for now.

- Why don't you go organize your bolts
And let me get some real work done here?
[Cranking]
- [Grunts] why, who does that cloud-brain think he is?
Acting like I'm not doin' real work.

- Well, um, I made copies of myself.
But they didn't listen to anything I said,
And they wouldn't even let me help!
- That sounds familiar.
- Oh. Was I really that bad?
- [Giggles] you were worse.
But we figured you didn't mean it.

I guess you probably never want to help me again, huh?
- Well, you did hurt my feelings earlier, and that made me angry.
But I can understand how it must feel to be kicked out of your own workshop.
Of course I'll help you. We're still friends.
- Good, because I need to get back into my garage.
We'll have to sneak up on those grumpy copies,
And I know the way in. Let's go.
- Uh, grumpy, I think we'll be able to help you better
If you give each of us something to do.
- Uh, oh, ok.
Cheer, we'll need some ropes to climb down into the workshop.
And we'll need tools to get the secret door open.
Can you find some, share?
- Uh-huh.
- Oh, oh, oh. What about me? What about me?
- [Sighs] you could be in charge of making sure our plan is a surprise.
- Ooh hoo hoo! My favorite!
[Thunder]
- Yep. Heh. Let's get to work.
[Struggling]

- Great! Now we'll never finish this machine.
My way is faster!
- Well, my way is better!

[Both arguing]
- Surprise!

I'm a pretty good ventriloquist.

And we never see grumpy's lips move.
- Oh, please, do it for the show!

I gotta go find my puppet.
[Both giggling]
- A talent show for all of care-a-lot?
Do you know what this means, mr. Beaks?
Exactly. It means that all the care bears will be in one place.
[Evil laugh] it's another chance for me to capture them
And take over care-a-lot.
I'll disguise myself, enter the show,
And spring my trap.
Ur2, sergeant rocketbottom,
I need a costume for the talent show!
- Um, don't you need a talent first?
- My talent will be capturing those care bears.
- [Unimpressed] oh. How original.
- Yes, yes, yes, fine.
You can wear a costume, too.
But no sequins!
- Ohh.
I'd love it if my hearts wouldn't bump into each other.
- Hey, how long are you gonna hog the stage?
I need to practice.
- But, grumpy, I'm not done yet.

- I don't think I love mr. Smarty britches at all.

And then it's grumpy's turn. Is that ok?
- Yeah.

So what's your act gonna be?
Oh, that was very clever.
- But I'm afraid with everyone watching, I'll mess up.
- It's ok. Everyone gets nervous.
- But what if I forget the tricks?
- I'll be backstage the whole time.
That way, if you get nervous and forget,
I'll be there to help you.
- You'd do that for me?
- Of course.
- Maybe I can help you with your act, too.
What are you gonna do?
- Cheer, I need more light!
Otherwise no one'll see mr. Smarty britches!

- Uh, I'll worry about my act later, I guess.

- My partner beaky pierre and I will perform an astounding act
While riding a unicycle and spinning plates!

There will be a net over the audience in case I fall.
- Okey-dokey, mister dazzle. We'll see you tonight.
- You will find our act very--heh--captivating.
- [Evil chuckle] that's what the net's for,
To capture all you care bears!
- You're going to let grizzle perform in the talent show?
- Sure. Maybe his act is good.
Besides, we did say that anyone can participate.
- Well, ok.
Hey, did you figure out what your act's going to be?
- Me? Oh! Uh, i--i don't know. I--
- Cheer, I've lost one of my songbirds.
- Cheer, I was practicing my gymnastics routine,
And I landed on this.
- [Gasps] mr. Smarty britches!
- Cheer, I can't remember.
Is my dance left, right, spin, left?
All: help!
- No time to worry about me now. We have a show to do!
Oopsy, practice away from everybody else
Grumpy, this should keep mr. Smarty britches together.
Love-a-lot, your dance is right, left, right, spin!
Harmony, we've got a songbird to find.
- Oh, look. - Everyone's here.
[Care bears cheering]
- Welcome! Welcome to the care-a-lot talent show!
- [Cheering and applause]
- Helping us decide tonight's best performance are our judges!
And here's tonight's first talent, love-a-lot!
[Fanfare]
- [Cheering]
- [Gasps]
[Fanfare]
- I loved it! It was perfect!
- Perfect? Her heart balloons got stuck.
I thought it was terrible!
- [Crowd groans]
- You're right. It wasn't perfect.
- Yeah.
- But it wasn't terrible either.
There was a problem, but love-a-lot finished the dance,
And I think it was even better. Right?
- Ok. I guess so.
- [Fanfare and cheering]

Monsieur razzle dazzle and beaky pierre!
- [Cheering]
- Huh? - [Murmuring]
- Aah! Ow! Ow! Ow!

[Grunts]

[Growls]
And here is the part of the show that I am sure will...
- [Gasps]
- [Normal] capture your attention!
- [Gasping]
- Nyaah!
Whaah! Yah hah h*!
- [Cheering]
- Mister beaks--
[French accent] I mean, beaky pierre,
This is all your fault! You loaded the net backwards!
- I loved it!
It was the best act of the night!
- Finally, some entertainment.
- Grizz--i mean, razzle dazzle,
You're tonight's big winner!
- [Cheering]
- What? I am touched.
I'm moved. You like me.
[Crying]
- And that's the show. I hope you all enjoyed it.
- We wanna see your act, cheer.
- [Cheering] - yeah, come on!
- Um, sorry, but the truth is I don't have any talent of my own.
- You helped all of us with our acts.
- Without you, there wouldn't have been a show.
- Yeah, and I woulda lost my head!
- Your talent is being able to bring out the best in others.
