You know what? Sometimes, you just can't finish it.

[Nina] I am a little bit surprised

that you guys didn't use more flowers.

It's stiff and it's not joyous.

And let's be honest, she looks like a doormat.

Daniel, you're the winner of this challenge.

[Heidi] Three finalists will make it

to Olympus Fashion Week.

You will see me at Fashion Week.

[Heidi] But only one can be the winner.

Heck yeah, I'm gonna win this.

For these 16 designers,

Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.

[sighs] Can you believe it? Andrae's gone.

I know. It's so weird.

Again. It's like, bam-bam-bam.

[Chloe] Saying good-bye to Andrae was difficult

'cause I think he's a great designer.

And I was very surprised when he left.

Santino?

Yes, Santino.

Do you miss Andrae?

Yeah, I miss Andrae.

It's sad that Andrae's not around anymore.

He was kind of the glue that held the four of us together.

But I'm definitely one of the most talented people

in that room.

I've won two challenges.

I feel like I'll make it to the final three.

I didn't expect to be in the bottom two,

you know, in the last task.

So I just wanna step it up a notch definitely.

Your model was Rebecca.

If you decide to stay with her, Danyelle will be out.

I will bring out all the girls

for you to make a switch.

I wanna make this nice and short.

So I guess we decided on a pinstripe vest

and pants with a pink shirt.

I might just make you all sophisticated.

What would be funny

is if you could make me look like...

definitely preppier, cleaner cut...

more all-American looking.

I've always wanted to have a pair of Madras pants.

'Cause then we could do that with a sort of collared thing...

with, like, a long-sleeve top underneath.

-Right. That is. -'Cause that's your thing too.

I'm giving him a preppy style

with a sort of urban undercoat.

I think he's well into it.

I think he's ready to like,

shave, and cut, and groom.

I'm going towards a very

fun-loving party girl.

I'm so excited to make you look so good.

I know. This is gonna be fun.

I think Chloe is a perfect person to design for.

And I wanted to take her to a more going-out outfit.

Something very expensive, but still very fun and flirty.

The boys will be buying you drinks.

You ain't buying your own. I can tell you that.

This is really cool, but I wanna dress you up.

-Okay. -I have this sort of look.

-Very tight-fitted jacket. -Uh-huh.

-And giving you shoulders. -Gotcha.

And then tight-tight-tight skinny sleeve.

And accentuating the fact that you're skinny.

-Exactly. -Okay.

I'm remaking Daniel into a sort of

sophisticated, European, young guy

wearing a very tight, slim suit...

almost, like 1980s-like, but more modern.

You totally-- oh, yeah.

What do you think about yourself?

Like a funkier, more sophisticated

version of myself.

Like a little bit more adventurous

in my dressing.

Ta-da.

[Santino] I wanted to make her

an amazing jumpsuit that shows off her body

in all the right ways.

It'll definitely make her over

from being a kind of, like...

free spirit, granola kind of hippie maybe.

But to be honest with you...

I really feel like Kara's pretty weak.

I basically picked out all the fabrics

that she bought at Mood.

[Nick] I respect Santino.

But having experience from

the Banana Republic challenge...

I know that it's really difficult to work with him.

I think you should still get a half yard of these two.

You know what I mean?

[Tim] This is great.

The back of the vest, yeah.

I just tumbled on this beautiful

cashmere from Italy

in a sort of gray tone.

So I got that for the jacket

as well as for the pants.

I don't think this is that shiny.

Exactly, I don't think it's that shiny.

It's just got a nice, elegant gloss to it.

It's not that it's shiny, and it's not that dark.

[Santino] The fabric for Nick's outfit

looks a little feminine.

They're all kind of, you know, a little too shiny.

-I love-- -Yeah, I mean, hello, hello.

I knew that I was gonna do a fully-lined

jacket and pants and shirt and scarf.

And that's ambitious.

But I have a secret weapon.

I can do menswear.

I've done menswear for a while.

So you don't want it so loose.

Well, if you're gonna have a vest,

you want it tight.

-I guess. -You don't want it loose.

Okay. That tight?

You're gonna put a vest on.

Do you want a loose blouse underneath?

-Really? -Uh-huh.

Okay, that's how much I know about menswear.

This challenge is my biggest challenge

because it's menswear.

I'm really uncertain how

to even put the outfit together.

I just don't do it at all.

So I'm getting more and more nervous.

[Heidi] Coming up on Project Runway...

I can't see you fighting for attention.

Santino is driving me crazy.

-Nick... -[steam hissing]

Nick is giving me the silent treatment.

[upbeat music playing]

[Nick] We have two days, which was great for me

because I just need time.

[Kara J.] God, is Nick sewing already?

[Chloe] Yeah.

-Wow. -Scary.

My God, I don't think I could ever be that fast.

-This is fine, right? -Yeah, this is fine.

Wow, he's already, like, sewing that [bleep] up.

[Chloe] Nick, I am so gonna hire you.

-I'm not kidding. -They look amazing.

It's kinda funny because, yeah,

It can happen in the workroom as well.

Okay, what's a food that you absolutely dislike?

Yeah, eating my own feces

is the key to everything.

I'd like to experiment a bit.

You have an incredible jawline.

You have beautiful skin.

Magnificent eyes.

It's like when Brad Pitt

grows out that stuff on his face.

Collier can see that I have a great jawline.

and that I need to trim my beard down.

You're gonna be looking at better than Brad Pitt.

I think your eyebrows need to be a lot thinner.

They're a great natural shape with a really good arch.

But it's gonna open your eyes up.

And I think simply by doing your eyes up more

and keeping everything else

very monochromatic would be amazing.

For this just a nice, good, warm color.

-You know, self-tanner. -Mm-hmm.

And then warm it up with bronzer possibly.

I mean, these are my suggestions.

I love a tan on certain people.

But on him, I think that

it's more dramatic to keep him pale.

Exactly, yeah.

I think that's a great look for him.

-I love that. It's awesome. -Okay.

What I would concentrate on is the fun factor.

And by doing a lot-- textures on your face

would be really cool.

To define your eyes with liner and mascara

and maybe individual lashes.

-I agree. -Yes.

You know, to really open them up.

-Bigger the fake lashes-- -See?

I would definitely clean this...

get rid of some of this, and keep this whole shape

that really fea-- you know, highlights him.

You have beautiful skin, great eyes.

Then, um...

And your hair, you can...

you know, do with it what you will.

Because it's-- it's a great shape for his face.

of the pieces that Kara was making.

I don't want to walk down the runway naked.

[Nick] I knew that Santino would take over.

And he spent so much time worried

about Kara's outfit for him.

He wasn't really paying attention to his outfit.

All my momentum...

has been stripped away.

The jumpsuit look that Santino's, uh,

designing for Kara is ridiculous.

And, uh, he has still a lot to do.

[suspenseful music playing]

[Nick] How would I be as a flight attendant?

[Daniel V.] There you go.

With Chloe's outfit, I could be like,

[in British accent] What would you like, sir?

[Daniel and Nick laughing and talking]

[Santino] Daniel Vosovic and Nick

have kind of turned me into, like, who their--

their enemy is.

I just think it's half just the competitive spirit,

other half is, like, straight-up just jealousy.

But somebody's gonna be out. Not me.

How you feeling about yours? Yours looks wonderful.

I think we're safe.

This is an unusual day

in that each of you is not only a designer today,

but you're also a model.

You have two hours

to get prepared for the show.

Collier Strong is going to oversee

the look for each of you.

So you will be checking in

with him in the L'Oréal Paris makeup room first

before you go on to the TRESemmé hair salon.

This is the next face of L'Oréal cosmetics.

-You're pretty. -Thank you.

[Nick] None of us had really finished our outfits,

including myself, so...

it was a little nerve-wracking for me.

I kept bringing the suit to the iron and the steamer,

'cause it was showing all the imperfections.

It showed ripples on the seams and other imperfections.

So I sort of gave it a final pressing

and then said, all right, you know,

there's nothing else I can do.

Oh! Oh, my God!

You're so handsome!

-Oh, my God. -Mwah!

It's great. It looks great.

I think you look-- you look great.

I actually don't think it looks feminine at all.

Hold on.

[Chloe] He thought I looked so good in it,

but I thought, oh, no,

this fits horribly, it's literally--

it was taped up here and here and here and here.

Seriously, I was just playing model.

-Um, be careful when you're-- -Of course, of course.

[Santino] I had the majority of my garment sewn.

The last things that I had to do was put on the sleeves.

I hope, you know, it works out.

[Kara J.] I was horribly uncomfortable in this thing.

I was glued to every part of my body.

Okay, everybody, this is it.

[Tim] You're coming with me right now.

[Designers] Okay.

[Tim] Santino.

[Kara J.] We're getting onto the runway,

and my sleeve was coming off my body.

I was furious.

Santino, time is up.

[Nick] The outfit was unfinished yet again.

[Daniel V.] Santino was backstage bullying her,

telling her that she couldn't move,

because the entire thing would fall apart.

[Santino] I'm [bleep] bricks right now.

I need Kara to say...

"This is what I wanted.

I feel amazing in this."

[Michael] The hem's a mess, it doesn't really fit her.

You just need to think about a woman when you design.

This is showing every mistake you made.

Welcome to the runway.

As you can see today, it's a little empty around here,

and that's because our designers are not here--

they're backstage.

And I wanted us to be surprised before we see them.

For this challenge, we asked them

to give each other head-to-toe makeovers.

They will be acting as their own models.

We gave them $200...

two days to put it together...

and the services of world-renowned

makeup artist, Collier Strong.

Before we begin, I want to welcome our guest judge,

Freddie Leiba, celebrity fashion stylist.

Are you guys ready?

Yeah, we're ready.

Let's start the show.

[upbeat music playing]

[Kara J.] When I looked at him in the garment, I'm like

he's looking so cool.

And it just made sense, you know.

It was a head-to-toe look.

And I think if he could, he'd buy those things,

put them in his closet, and love them.

And I think that I did a nice job.

[upbeat music playing]

[Santino] Basically, the construction was ready

only for the runway.

The sleeve is coming loose,

and I hope it's not really noticeable

to other people.

[Nick] On this challenge,

I have been ambitious.

But somehow I pulled it off,

and it just turned out to look fabulous on the runway.

[Daniel V.] I think that my look for Chloe--

it's gonna scream change in a good way.

I'm bringing her to a very sexy,

very sophisticated look.

Um, but still very modern.

Besides the fact that I have immunity,

I would love to win.

[upbeat music playing]

[Chloe] I didn't take away Nick's style.

I just kinda enhanced it and made him look more expensive.

[suspenseful music playing]

[Heidi] Okay, let's bring out the designers.

Designers, we've tallied your scores.

There's five of you now.

And after tonight, there will be only four left.

We're gonna ask you some questions.

One of you will be named the winner.

And one of you...

I wanna start with Kara.

And Kara

designed for Santino.

And, um, I wanna ask

our guest judge Freddie Leiba to start, please.

[Freddie] Kara, by looking at the before,

it's quite a difference to how he is.

However, this look suits him. It's totally perfect on him.

[Nina] I think you achieved a different look,

a softer look,

a more casual Santino.

He does not look

as serious as he normally looks.

I think the color...

is quite fresh on you, but you still look like Santino.

And I love the madras pants.

[Michael] This is Santino on holiday.

Yes, this is casual Santino.

He said he wanted to be more worldly-looking, so...

I think it's terrific.

[Heidi] I want to continue with Daniel...

who designed Chloe's outfit

and her head-to-toe look.

I don't know if because you're...

you won last week that you kind of thought...

"Well, maybe I don't have to spend

I mean, the hem's a mess,

it doesn't really fit her.

[Heidi] When I see Chloe before,

she looks like a hip, cute...

girl.

I think you've aged her about 20 years.

[Michael] To me, it feels very, like...

First off, I want to tell you,

men's clothes are really hard to make.

And I think that you pulled this off pretty--pretty well.

I mean, I might not wear a pink back on my vest,

um, but I think it takes this out of

being too stayed and too traditional for him.

[Heidi] You feel good in it too, no?

Yeah, mm-hmm. Yeah.

Yeah, it shows.

And then we have Nick.

And Nick designed

Daniel's head-to-toe outfit.

And again, I want to start with Freddie.

[Freddie] What I have a problem with is the make,

especially when he turn-- his back is turned to you,

you see every ripple on those seams.

[Michael] I think a men's suit

is the most ambitious thing in the world

you could pick to design and sew.

[Nick] I had delusions of grandeur.

I think you picked a very woman's wear fabric

that's very mushy and soft.

This is showing every mistake you made.

And how does the jacket close?

Oh, the jack--it's-- there's no closure.

-Yeah, there's no closure. -[Heidi] It just is like that?

Yeah, just like that, yeah.

[sighs]

[Michael] I totally also don't understand

no buttons, no pockets.

To me, it looks like-- I don't know--

A Golden Girl jacket that you'd belt and wear with leggings.

The next designer we want to question is Santino.

And Santino designed for Kara.

[Nina] I like the fact that we can see her figure.

But I don't know who wears

jumpsuits anymore.

[Heidi] But you look very shy in it

and sort of like...

I don't really want to turn around and show my booty.

[Santino] You know, before, she was jumping around

and--and not self-conscious at all

about the way that she was looking.

So I don't know if

necessarily you're exuding that same energy now

that you were before,

-or if we're just tired-- -Tired.

--of standing in these heels, but--

But I don't think that's why your models

are uncomfortable.

I think it's ultimately the clothes.

[Santino] The clothes. Well...

So are you comfortable in this, Kara?

How do you feel?

I--I think she looks great.

[Nina] And what's happening with her sleeve over here

on her left?

Is this part of the design

or is it simply falling off?

[Santino] No, yeah, when we went in back...

um, after she had walked on the runway...

we were excited... and, like...

the shoulder popped out.

[Freddie] I actually quite like this outfit on her,

because here I can see her body.

She definitely looks sexy.

[Heidi] I really hated

what he did to Chloe.

It suited him. She--she's great in my book.

[Michael] I think she did a great job.

It looked like something that I could picture Nick wearing.

[Nina] Kara was my other favorite,

because I really do think that

she brought the softer side of Santino.

And it looked good, and it was in his style.

[Heidi] It was all made, you know?

I think we can't forget about that too.

Like, really, everything that they wore--

It's not easy to make sportswear for men

and make it look professional and believable.

I mean, she made his hat.

And then what Nick did, um,

to Daniel, I thought

was horrible.

He looked like he rolled around in that suit

and got out of bed and walked onto the runway.

[Michael] He picked the wrong fabric...

attempted the wrong garment.

The execution was horrible.

Men's trousers with no pockets at all?

-Anywhere? -[Heidi] Mm-hmm.

I mean, it's-- it's like a legging

that Friar Tuck would wear.

[laughter]

Then we have the lovely jumpsuit.

[Freddie] Well, I like the jumpsuit, I'm afraid to say.

[Heidi] Because from a fashion point of view,

-it's something different. -[Freddie] It's different.

And, you know, just-- why not?

[Heidi] On the other hand, you know,

it was falling apart.

Falling apart.

It shouldn't fall apart.

I do think he doesn't think about

what is comfortable to a woman.

I feel awful that I didn't say anything.

It's glued on.
