The winner of this challenge is Kayne.

[Heidi] Kayne, you won this challenge,

and you have immunity for the next challenge.

[Heidi] The winner of Project Runway

will receive a spread in ELLE magazine,

a mentorship with I.N.C. International Concepts Design,

and $100,000 to start their own line

Fashion is my life.

I'm going to win.

[Heidi] 15 contestants.

I'm fabulously glamorous.

I've got mad skills.

But only one can be the winner.

I'm better than they are.

You gotta be kidding me.

For these 15 contestants,

Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.

[Kayne] I am so excited about getting immunity.

Like, literally,

I can send anything down the runway I want

and not even have to worry about it.

Of course, I will not do that,

because this is just another chance

to have something fabulous walk down the stage.

It r--you really feel now that--

You can get axed.

[Robert] Every few days, somebody's gonna go.

Yeah, it's just weird, 'cause you start

to get to know people and their personalities.

And he was, like, a really nice roommate.

[Katherine] I am upset that Malan had to go.

I don't think he deserved to go home.

But I don't think I was responsible

for what happened with our dress.

[Heidi] Yoo-hoo! Hi.

[designers] Hi.

For your next challenge, you will be designing

an outfit inspired by one of fashion's

hottest accessories.

Tim will fill you in on the details tomorrow morning.

Okay, let's bring out

the winning and losing designers' models.

[suspenseful music playing]

Models, this is a competition for you too.

The model paired with the winning designer

will receive a spread in ELLE magazine.

Kayne, you were the winner of the last challenge.

So you have the option

of swapping models with your fellow designers.

Your model was Katia.

And if you decide to stay with her,

that means Moon, Malan's model from the first challenge,

will be out.

this third challenge is something

where we can really do something.

[Alison] Yeah.

I think that they want to see versatility.

I was just excited waiting to hear

what the word was

going to the next challenge.

[Laura] "Make your way uptown

along the west side of Central Park."

it's horses.

Are horses a fashion accessory?

[upbeat music playing]

I didn't know how far we were going.

We really weren't, you know,

clued in on any of the details.

When we went to Central Park,

we didn't know what the hell was going on.

I thought there's a nice, uh, brunch buffet

waiting for us.

But that wasn't happening.

Where's Tim?

[suspenseful music playing]

We don't know what we're in for.

[Michael Knight] We were waiting for Tim to arrive.

And it was cold as [bleep].

[Bradley] So we wait.

And, uh, Tim Gunn comes over-- right over this little knoll.

[laughter]

[dogs yipping]

[designer] Oh, my God.

[cheers, applause]

[designer] Oh, my gosh.

Fantastic.

[Kayne] I just was like,

"Oh, my God. Am I witnessing this?"

[all calling dogs]

[Jeffrey] It was unbelievable

to see Tim with all those dogs.

Designers, Heidi told you you'd be designing an outfit

for one of today's hottest fashion accessories.

And here they are, 13 of them.

[designers cheering]

[Tim] Each dog has a jersey with their name on it.

I want you to come forward,

choose a dog,

and get to know your muse.

[Laura] I'm not a dog person.

When you're 42 years old and you have five children,

you just don't have the emotional energy

to care for, you know, an animal like that.

[Kayne] I want--

[Uli] I'm very happy with Einstein.

I couldn't have picked anything better.

And if I would be a dog,

I would be a dog like Einstein.

I can tell you that everyone picked themselves

when they picked their dogs.

Especially Keith.

[Keith] I like to make rare things.

This is a rare dog. It's great for me.

I was like, "Morgan, yes. Come to Papa."

-I'm not a poodle guy at all. -I know.

I'm more inspired by the poodle.

[Bradley] I'm not, so.

Okay.

[Alison] Bradley came walking over to me.

And he was like, "What am I gonna do with a poodle?"

And I looked at Stanley.

And I was like, "You know,

Stanley really looks like you, Bradley."

So Bradley and I switched dogs.

This way I don't have to touch it.

[chuckling]

Oof!

I actually did not pick my dog.

My dog was the last dog left.

Okay, designers.

We're going to walk back to Parsons,

where I'll give you more details about the challenge.

[Tim] Designers, for this challenge,

you will make a womenswear outfit

inspired by your dog.

We want you to think narratively.

That is, we want you to use your dog as inspiration

for a story about its owner.

What kind of woman is she?

Where is she going?

One more thing: you must design

a complementary outfit for your dog.

[Vincent] All right.

[Tim] You will have two days

for this challenge

and a budget of $150.

You will have a half hour to sketch.

And that half hour starts now.

[fast techno music playing]

Sit. Sit your butt down.

Sit, sit, sit, sit.

Sit down and be good while I figure this out, okay?

[sniffs]

[Alison] My idea for Pepe's owner

is, like, a fashionista, a girl who travels the world.

And then Pepe is getting a mini-jacket,

kind of like a mini-motorcycle jacket.

It's gonna be hot.

Patty Cake. Patty Cake.

Look over here.

[whistles]

My story is about a British headmistress

of an art camp in Paris.

And the camp is called Jubilee Jumbles.

So she's throwing a big party for Patty Cake.

Stay. Stay.

Okay, so just stay right here for me.

[Keith] This dog is just super-exotic.

I'm definitely doing, like,

a big collar on her and a chain.

And I think that's all that Morgan needs.

Please don't make me make something stupid for Morgan.

[Vincent] Shh!

Is that a good outfit? That's a good outfit?

Hi, everybody.

Your 30 minutes is up, and we're going shopping.

[Alison] I knew what I wanted.

I knew I wanted linen, silk, and leather.

So I found those sections right away.

I'm going to make a-- a really colorful dress.

Something kind of-- a cool print

not everybody could wear or would wear,

which is a little bit of a risk.

I need a nice, expensive-looking

but very inexpensive-- Uh-huh.

Fabric for a top.

We only had 30 minutes to shop at Mood.

Uh, luckily, I knew exactly what I wanted.

I pulled out this gorgeous Missoni print.

Like, gorgeous.

-[Isn't that gorgeous? -[Robert] That's great.

It's Missoni.

[Robert] Look at this beautiful tweed.

It's like Jackie Kennedy and Barbie all rolled into one.

[Kayne] It is.

That is, like, Pepto Barbie and Jackie Kennedy.

[Laura] God, mine's so tasteful

compared to you guys.

[Robert] Oh, Laura.

Always mistaking taste and style.

[Laura] I know.

Laura said, "You have no taste."

And I said, "Hon, you have no taste."

I said, "Yours is vanilla.

Mine is Rocky Road."

[Tim]] Our time's up, and we are leaving.

'Cause this has got to be, like,

-a perfect garment. -[Robert] Yeah.

[Katherine] I've never done a dress like this before.

My clothes are mostly, like, casual sportswear.

For the last runway challenge,

I was worried about going home.

I really have to prove my design style and my taste.

I wanna be one of the best designers here,

if not the best.

[Angela] I knew I wanted a silk taffeta for the skirt.

And it had to be a springy color,

because Patty Cake was born in the spring.

I just went completely ba*ls-out

and got all of these different printed fabrics, so--

to make my little rosettes.

[Robert] I do have a concept and story.

My girl is a Park Avenue princess

who's just checked into rehab and needs someone

to take care of her tiny dog for a weekend.

I have this thing about stories.

I hate them.

I think they're stupid.

[upbeat music playing]

[coughs]

I don't know about Bradley,

because he's in his own little

daydreamy sort of world.

And I think he's got time management issues.

[Bradley] I'm feeling behind right now.

[laughs]

And I quickly found out

that these lines that I'm making

were gonna be really hard to sew.

So I spent a lot of time adjusting from my original idea.

[sighs]

The more I thought about it,

I was like, "You know what?

I'm gonna change the whole thing."

It's fine.

I can--I can shift.

Just gonna be-- tomorrow's gonna be hectic.

Mm-hmm.

[Vincent] I'm goin' home.

[Heidi] Coming up on Project Runway...

Enough. Not this morning.

Ah bup bup!

[Laura] Keith... he's really just become

a major [bleep]head.

[Tim] That top's gotta be redone.

[exhales heavily]

[Michael Knight] Hurry it up, boy.

-[Bradley] I'm ready. -[Michael Knight] You ready?

Yeah, I got my eraser and my pad.

I'm ready.

[Michael Knight] I love your shades.

[Vincent] This is the second day

of the dog challenge.

You know, it's gonna come down to the wire.

There's no doubt.

[Jeffrey] It's absolutely no different to design for a dog

than it is a person.

You know, you just design what you wanna design

for the being that you're designing for.

I just think everyone has their distinct style.

You know, it's really kinda fun to look around the room.

Um, and I just happen to love mine

more than everybody else's.

[laughing]

When I get goin', I don't stop.

Check him out.

-[laughing] -Good little boy.

[laughing]

[Vincent] People are, uh, underestimating

the importance of the dog outfit.

I hear people over and over again saying,

"Well, you know, this is my girl here."

I don't know--for me, if you can't put

both of them together...

mm, it's not gonna work.

[Katherine] How's your new design coming, Bradley B?

You think you're good on time and all that stuff?

Yeah.

It's made out of this so it--it matches.

But I didn't want it to be, like,

with this same trim.

Well, the only reason that you should be at all concerned

is because it's a pretty basic dress.

I could whip up, like, a little hoodie jacket, shrug.

And then she'll be matching Talulah.

Wanted to tell you I saw you with the fabric at Mood

[Tim] I--I mean, I think it's beautiful.

is about accessorizing the dog.

little obsessed with the inside.

So I made it perfect. Well, almost perfect.

Yeah, but why?

Because I wanted it

to have a little bit of structure underneath.

[Tim] You're really going over the top with this.

Think about who she is

in terms of describing her to the judges.

[Uli] I was concerned about Angela's outfit.

Because I hadn't seen it put together.

I just saw all these crazy little flower things.

And I wasn't sure what it was gonna be.

Bradley.

-Hi, Tim. -[Tim] How are ya?

All right.

And where are you?

This is what I have done so far.

I don't get it.

Tell me more. I mean, I really--

I don't understand it,

to be honest.

[Bradley] Well, the top is, like,

reflecting Stanley, you know.

A little bit shaggy.

[Tim] Yeah, but, you know, if it's not pretty,

He likes to jump off bridges

and--and find things as he falls.

I'd really like to win this challenge,

because I'm so passionate about it,

and really confident with the outcome of my designs.

about the dress I made. It was little, crazy colors,

and I put two weird fabrics together.

But that's what I do when I'm sewing at home.

I was pretty confident about the outfit.

[Laura] Um, Sophia was actually very patient

when I was trying to put her little doggy outfit on

without strangling her or anything.

Are you seeing how perfect this looks

-with the fur around her face? -Mm-hmm.

Let's see if this collar's gonna fit you.

I don't know if it will,

'cause your chest is a little bigger than I thought.

he suggested making a hooded jacket.

And I had almost finished it this morning,

but I needed to focus on getting Talulah's outfit done.

[Bradley] I decide that I'm just gonna use

what I already have

and put the lining in it.

I'm happy with it.

[Kayne] I felt so good

about Katia and Molly's performance.

Katia was strutting that outfit

and just being the rich b*tch

that she was supposed to be.

[Uli] When I saw Lindsay coming down the runway,

I felt pretty confident.

My outfit fitted with the story

I wanted to tell.

[Robert] Danielle came down the runway

with Chanel at her heel, and they both looked amazing.

I felt really proud.

Chanel seemed like a natural-born star.

[Alison] When I saw Toni walking down the runway,

I loved the entire look.

Pepito had a matching vest,

and he looked adorable.

[Bradley] It was a great birthday,

because my model

didn't go nude down the runway.

As long as I don't get swallowed

in the jaws of the judges.

[upbeat music playing]

[Keith] I did something beautiful

and elegant and sophisticated

and perfect in its own way.

It's all about Morgan.

She doesn't really need any accessories.

[Bonnie] I thought mine looked fabulous

walking down the runway.

It was everything

that I wanted it to look like.

[Katherine] I really liked my garment

when it was on the runway.

I thought it looked good.

I thought the dog

and Amanda looked great together.

[Michael Knight] When I saw Carly and Alexandra

walking down the runway,

I was like, "Damn."

I absolutely loved

everything about it.

[Vincent] Lil' A just tried to get that hat

off his head at all stakes.

I was just sitting there. I was like, "Holy God!

There goes the whole, you know--

the whole outfit."

[Laura] I was surprised. In the end,

I did get over the fact

that I was designing a dog costume.

Sophia was actually kinda cute.

[Angela] I felt so incredibly proud.

The whole outfit was unlike anything

anybody else had done.

[Jeffrey] When I see the garment

coming down the runway,

I think it's beautiful.

It fit Javi perfectly.

Flex got a little wild, I think.

[tense music playing]

[Heidi] We've scored your designs.

Okay, I would like to start with Uli.

You were supposed to tell a story

about where she's going, what kind of woman she is.

[Uli] I created an outfit for a young, hip girl

who is not afraid of color.

She likes party.

Actually, she went partying last night,

and she got up at 12:00,

and now she's meeting her fabulous girlfriends.

And they're gonna go to lunch,

and then they're gonna go shopping

for more fabulous clothes.

[Ivanka] I like your story.

It just works for me.

[Heidi] I like that you have patterns.

I like the mixture of the pattern.

I like the fit of the dress.

That kind of dog is usually a little bit more butch.

So to see her looking sort of so feminine

is kind of an interesting twist.

[Nina] Can we see it without the jacket?

[Ivanka] I think the back is fabulous when she turns around.

-[Heidi] It's a beautiful dress. -[Ivanka] It's fun.

It fits great.

It's very playful.

[Heidi] Katherine, tell us a little bit about

where she is going.

[Katherine] Talulah has this hidden sporty side.

So her owner is gonna be

this very simple, modern woman

who needs to dress up on occasion,

maybe to go to a Sunday brunch with the girls.

And Talulah's got a little, like, hoodie.

[Heidi] I have to say I like Talulah's outfit more

-than your model's outfit. -[Ivanka] So do I.

It's very wearable. I just think it's so simple.

It almost seems like you put a lot more time

in Talulah's outfit.

It was kinda the look I was going for.

Like, very clean and simple.

I feel like if I'm a designer,

I want to come up with something that stands out,

something that is amazing.

To me, it's very blah.

[Nina] I'm wondering--I don't know if you guys can see it.

But the hem is supposed to be like that?

[Katherine] Yeah, it's really the only finishing

that works with the machines we have up there.

[Nina] I think there is something to be desired

for the execution.

[Heidi] Alison, tell us, please, your story.

Okay, well, Pepito

inspired me to design an outfit

for a young woman who I see

as a Japanese woman who works in the fashion industry.

She travels religiously with her dog,

and she's here in New York during fashion week

-to work as a buyer. -I love the idea.

Was that hairdo on purpose for the model?

-I loved it. -[Ivanka] In your credit,

I think you thought a lot about the look.

I thought it was a touch that was unexpected.

[Heidi] I think, as a whole,

I thought it was a very modern,

chic, cool, new look.

I would like to continue with Angela.

To me, it looks like your model

is going exactly where you're going.

[Angela] She's the assistant director

at a kids' art camp in Paris.

And she's throwing a birthday party

for the camp's mascot Patty Cake.

[Heidi] How old are the kids?

Six through twelve.

That is a hot looking mama

-to work with kids. -[Ivanka] I was gonna--

[Heidi] That skirt is super short,

belly out, boobies out.

Damn!

It's a little inappropriate

if the kids are as young as six.

[Nina] I don't get it, I don't get your explanation

about the assistant to the director

to the art camp in Paris.

I don't even know what to say.

[Heidi] It is very raunchy in a way.

The skirt is beautifully draped.

I just think you've maybe gotta focus more on style.

[dog whining and yapping]

-[Heidi] Bradley... -[dog whining]

your Stanley is very loud.

Yeah, you been such a bad boy.

Tell us where your model is going,

who she is, what she's all about.

She is an architect.

Confident.

And appreciates simplicity

and structure.

I love the idea of this outfit.

I like the honey color

with the gray and the pumps.

-Love the hairdo too. -[Nina] I like the play

on volume.

Can I see that in profile?

Because I'm sure it's fantastic.

What is Stanley wearing?

Stanley's got a collar

with a little accessory on it.

Very daring of you. And I think it's--

it looks amazing.

I could see sh**ting that for ELLE.

[Heidi] Keith, I would like to know

where your lady is going.

She's modern.

Sophisticated, elegant.

She's got a dog that's a rare breed.

And she doesn't want to dress it up in baby doll clothes.

[Heidi] That's why you're telling me straightaway

why your dog has no outfit,

because that would've been my next question.

Well, it's not that it doesn't have an outfit.

It's definitely styled.

It is accessorized.

[Keith] This is how I see it.

And this is how she dresses it.

[Nina] I think this is a fantastic dress.

I would just have expected a little more from you.

I made many, many outfits for the dog.

And I thought about it a long time.

[Heidi] How are we supposed to judge you

when he has no fabric on

that you actually made?

Well, there is a little sash over here.

-You made that? -Well, okay--

[Nina] Gonna give us a hard time,

gonna give you a hard time right back.

[Heidi] Can I see this necklace?

What are you talking about, you made this?

-You made this? -No, just this little

-tiny sash over here. -Yeah, you make it sound like

you made this whole thing.

This is a bracelet.

Oh, I thought that was made.

[Heidi] No, it's not made at all.

[Keith] Heidi, I spent a lot of time on that.

I find it a little hard

to judge when there is no outfit on the dog.

with little Stanley.

It was interesting.

I like his play with volume--

-the silhouette. -[Vera] The most original.

[Nina] Yeah.

It was rather beautiful.

Uli.

She has a good feeling for--

[Nina] For colors, for pattern.

[Heidi] Yeah,

-putting that together. -[Nina] Absolutely.

[Ivanka] She thought about the dog.

I think that really--

it came across.

Alison.

[Ivanka] Every other designer

couldn't get a grasp on the full look.

She got the full look.

[Heidi] I liked the hairdo,

the black tie.

It made sense.

She definitely has a vision.

[laughs]

I think we all loved the hoodie on the dog.

And that's about the long and the short of it.

[Nina] There was a lack of creativity there.

I think it would have been a lot easier

had she had sewed it better.

Angela.

I really did not like this...

at all.

The top was beautifully made, as was the skirt.

But somehow the styling was just...

so off.

Her model, to me,

looked like a streetwalker.

Keith, what do you guys think

about his look and that

he did not have an outfit for his dog?

He was very--also very standoffish, no?

[Ivanka] I didn't like his attitude at all.

I don't know that I believe

he could've done something for it.

Like, I want to go see the tape

to see if he actually made four outfits.

[Nina] But I do have to say

that his clothes

look very well-presented

and look impeccable.

So we made our decision?

when Heidi said that I was out.

I never think I'm gonna win, but I--

I thought I did a pretty good job.

[Katherine] The judges said

it didn't feel inspired,

but it was actually, out of the three things

I've worked on, the most inspired piece

I've done since being here.

So I disagree with them, and I liked it.

If I have to go home,

and it's a time when I enjoyed

what I made and I liked it,

then that's the best way to go.

[Angela] I get a chance to redeem myself.
