[Heidi] Previously on Project Runway...
For your next challenge, you will be designing
an outfit for INC International Concepts.
I'm so glad I just don't have to make three pieces
all by myself.
Something about him doesn't seem right.
[Kayne] I saw some pattern making books in Keith's room.
These books make me sick.
We're gonna have to ask you to leave.
[Heidi] The winning garment will be featured
in a window display at Macy's.
[screaming] Oh, it's there! Yeah!
Robert, we felt that your outfit was a total bore.
Bonnie, you're out.
Auf Wiedersehen.
[Heidi] The winner of Project Runway
will receive a spread in ELLE magazine,
a mentorship with INC International Concepts Design,
a 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster,
and $100,000 to start their own line,
furnished by TRESemmé professional hair care.
This is Project Runway.
Fashion is my life.
I'm going to win.
[Heidi] Fifteen contestants...
I'm fabulously glamorous.
I've got mad skills.
But only one can be the winner.
-I'm better than they are. -You gotta be kidding me.
[laughing]
For these 15 contestants,
Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
[Jeffrey] It is just annoying to me
that Angela was the winner of the Macy's challenge.
I know that Macy's isn't the place for me.
It still cut me straight though.
I'm ready to win a challenge.
I haven't won,
and I want to say I won at least one challenge.
After the runway show for Macy's,
myself and Bonnie were in the bottom two.
I just felt really humbled for sure.
I really have to prove
that I'm able to do clothes that are not boring.
[upbeat music playing]
Hi!
-[designers] Hi! -Hi, Heidi.
Are you ready for your next challenge?
-Yes! -[Heidi] Okay!
But first, let's bring out your models.
We're going to do things differently today.
Models, I will let you choose
the designer who you want to work with.
Wow.
[nervous laughter]
[Vincent] It's kind of screwed up
when things are out of the designer's hands.
Remember, this is a competition for you too.
The model paired with the winning designer
will get a fashion spread in ELLE magazine.
So choose carefully.
I'm going to pick your names out of this bag
to see who chooses first.
In our last challenge, we lost two designers.
There are 12 models and 10 designers.
So tonight, two models must go.
The last two names in the bag will be out.
-Alexandra. -This is a hard decision.
I wanted to pick somebody I haven't worked with before.
I'm gonna go with Alison.
Thank you.
Clarissa.
Angela.
[Heidi] Amanda.
I really enjoyed working with Kayne.
I'm gonna pick you again.
Nazri.
Michael.
Lindsay.
I'm gonna go with Uli.
[Heidi] Danielle.
Robert, my favorite.
[Heidi] Marilinda.
Jeffrey.
[Heidi] Camilla.
I'm gonna go with Laura.
My previous designers had all been picked.
But I always wanted to work with Laura,
because she just has such a clean, sophisticated style.
[Heidi] Jia.
-I'm gonna choose Vincent. -That's my girl.
[Heidi] That leaves you, Bradley.
Katie,
Javi,
and Katia.
There are three of you and one button left,
so two of you will be out.
Katie, you're in.
You have Bradley.
Javi...
Katia...
I'm sorry, that means you're out.
You can leave the runway.
Auf Wiedersehen. Thank you.
Okay.
For your next challenge
you will be modernizing a look for a fashion icon.
We have ten different fashion icons
waiting in the workroom.
And your model will choose one for you.
Oh.
Now we're feeling a little out of control.
We don't know these girls.
We don't know if they know us.
We know that the key to the next challenge
is now resting in their hands.
And that's a little frightening.
Models, please get changed.
Meet Tim to choose an icon for your designer.
[Uli] Oh, boy!
[laughter]
Designers,
I'll see you on the runway.
[Tim] Welcome, models. Come on in.
Models, as Heidi said,
your designers will be modernizing the look
of a fashion icon.
In front of you are ten pictures of important icons
who have shaped fashion trends over the last century.
I want you to take a careful look,
and when I say "Go,"
I want you to come forward, choose an icon,
and head to your designer's workspace.
Okay?
[Amanda] We were all standing around waiting,
and... the pressure was building.
I knew I had to fight to the death to get Audrey Hepburn.
Go.
[Marilinda] When he said "Go,"
all the of the models, they were like...
Wow!
I knew it was gonna be a fight.
I tried to reach, but I got the leftover picture.
[Tim] Wow!
What do you think, guys?
Fabulous.
This was one of my top choices, so I'm happy.
[Tim] All right, everybody. I've never said this before.
Models, I'm sending in the designers.
Come on in.
-What is it? -Audrey Hepburn.
[Angela] Modernizing Audrey Hepburn.
I just basically peed my pants. I was totally excited.
It was so dead on.
Yes!
I have Pam mother[bleep] Grier.
She is the b*mb.
I fought!
Jackie O is perfect as a fashion icon to me.
She's, like, the definition
of all things glamorous and stylish.
What do you think? You love it?
[Jeffrey] My background is in doing
stage wear for rock stars.
Madonna is the perfect fit for me.
The universe wants me to [bleep] win, that's it.
I love it. Love it, love it, love it. Mwah!
[Kayne] Miss Marilyn Monroe.
There's probably not any icon that I would've wanted more.
Oh, awesome!
I knew Lindsay would pick something
which fits her and my style too.
And she picked Diana Ross.
Designers, you will have two days for this challenge.
And a budget of $150.
You will have a half hour to sketch
and meet with your models to caucus.
And that half hour starts now.
This is a great, great challenge.
[Laura] Camilla must've been paying attention
to the work I've been doing
since the beginning of the challenges,
because she nailed it.
Katharine Hepburn was a project that I could definitely handle.
[Alison] At first I didn't think
Farrah Fawcett was fitting.
I wasn't really intrigued
until Alexandra started to tell me about her.
She's very daring, sexy.
[Alison] This can be a lot of fun.
[Vincent] Jia picked Twiggy
because of what I could do with it.
She explicitly told me that.
I love these sleeves.
I don't know [bleep] about Cher.
But this is who I got, and so...
Tell me about Cher, Katie. What do you know?
Nowadays, she does more of the glam.
She's gone pop, very pop.
But I like this picture of her too.
Like Prince pop?
Yeah, maybe I should start paying attention
to celebrities more.
[Tim] You've had a half hour to sketch.
And, designers, you and I will go shopping.
[Michael Knight] Everything that
Pam Grier wore in her movies,
it was always body conscious.
The dress I'm doing is pretty much
a plunging neckline party dress.
This challenge definitely ranks number one for me.
It's something I can really, really relate to.
[Robert] I'm planning to do a suit
that reminds me of Jackie Kennedy
in the White House years,
but just in a more modern, exciting way.
And I found this beautiful fabric.
It's like a pale turquoise, Tiffany blue color.
I really want to address what my apparent weakness is.
"Boring." Thanks, Heidi.
If I'm boring, then I probably should just go home.
[upbeat music playing]
[Kayne] I feel so excited
about my dress for Marilyn Monroe!
It is so [bleep] gorgeous.
I kind of wanted
a Marilyn Monroe meets Gwen Stefani,
their love child kind of thing.
[designer] Kayne, what colors are you using?
"Black."
"You're not gonna use the crazy color patterns?"
[Robert] I know. I'm shocked, honestly.
[designer] I'm the only-- "I'm the only crazy one?"
You know what you gotta do,
is the best thing is step back and imagine, like,
someone else designing it. That's what I do sometimes.
What we're going to do here is we're gonna make a dress
with these really beautiful sleeves
that kind of swing out like bells, so to speak.
But they have high armholes,
so against the silhouette, you'll really see
this bell-like sleeve.
[upbeat music playing]
Angela, do you know what's going on with this?
I rethread the machine.
Oh, it started doing it when you were on it?
Oh, yeah.
Angela got on my machine, and the machine was messed up.
Whatever happened to my machine,
Angela had something to do with it.
You should fix this machine.
[Angela] I did, I told you the last two times
-I used it, it was fine. -It's not fixed.
Wow.
"I heard Angela [bleep] something up"
"Bradley's machine, so now Bradley's taking my machine."
[Angela] You guys, you know what?
That's not fair.
I did not mess up this machine.
I was working on it, and the bobbin thread,
it was just getting messed up.
[Jeffrey] Angela and these inexperienced [bleep]
ruin it for those of us that know what we're doing.
If it's working fine when I get off it,
and then you get on it and something goes wrong,
and the next time I get on it it's [bleeped] up,
you're responsible to fix it.
-That's it. -Thing is, it wasn't--
It has nothing to do with whether I like you or not.
Will you shut up? No, shut up.
Jeffrey acts like he's the only one good enough
to be sewing in the sewing room
'cause he's the only one who knows what he's doing.
[Jeffrey] I'm entitled to not like you, right?
[Angela] Yeah, absolutely,
but don't accuse me of things that I didn't do.
-And don't jump-- -All I know is--
--on the bandwagon of an accuser who's wrong.
If you're so [bleep] successful and you know so much,
what are you doing here, Jeff?
[Jeffrey] What are you pissed off about?
[Jeffrey] Laura was just being annoying.
I wasn't even talking to Laura, but she felt
it necessary to start quacking in my ear.
Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack.
Quack, quack, quack, quack,
quack, quack, quack, quack quack!
God, I wish that [bleep] b*tch would have a stroke.
[Heidi] Coming up on Project Runway...
[Michael Knight] Everybody trying to g*ng up on her
just for thrills and giggles.
[Vincent] I'm in huge trouble.
[Robert] Oh, my God, don't tell me that.
[tense music playing]
[Michael Knight] Jeffrey jumped on Angela's case
and stormed out of the workroom.
Everybody trying to g*ng up on her
just for thrills and giggles.
That's just not cool.
It's like a domino effect,
because then Alison goes in to use her machine
and Bradley's on it,
and then you go to your machine
and Alison's on it, you know what I'm saying?
So it does have something to do with me.
-[Michael Knight] No. -It does.
[Michael Knight] I'm not trying to play
Captain Save-A-h* as we say in the hood,
or you know, whatever.
But it just really wasn't his place to even say anything.
[Jeffrey] I was just saying
I think that if you break a machine
you should fix it before you move on.
-Cool. It's all good. -That's it.
Moving forward.
[Jeffrey] All I want to do is make a dress for Madonna.
Is that so much to ask?
[Michael Knight] You can definitely
feel the tension now.
It's a little bit more competition.
I've really just been trying to stick my g*ns
and stay true to who I am as a person and as a designer.
[ringing tone]
[mother] Hello?
Hey, Mom. This is Mike.
[mother] Oh, my God! How you doing?
I'm doing great.
My mom is really sensitive.
She cries about everything.
Ever since the first time I picked up a sketch pad
and drew my first croquis,
my parents have been big supporters of mine
since day one, and I love them for it.
-[mother] Be praying, okay? -I will.
-I always do, every night. -[mother] All right, okay.
Tell everybody I said I love them.
-And I'll talk to you soon. -[mother] Okay, I love you too.
All right, my dear. Bye.
[mother] Bye.
[Michael Knight] It was what I needed to hear.
Just a little piece of home. So I feel good.
I feel energized. I'm ready to...
to continue on.
[dramatic music playing]
[tense music playing]
[Vincent] When I was in the workroom,
I noticed that the tan I had purchased
just wasn't right to create this look for Twiggy.
Okay.
If it's not hitting you, you're not gonna go with it,
because you know you've got a chance of saying good-bye.
I'm in huge trouble.
Oh, my God, don't tell me that.
Yeah, it's all a nightmare.
I know. I'm having the same feeling about my jacket.
[Robert] Vincent had all this linen
that he wasn't using,
so I actually borrowed the linen from Vincent
to make a jacket.
And I wanted it to just look young and modern--
like Jackie.
Maybe mix things up a little.
Take a slightly different approach
to try and wow the judges.
[dramatic music playing]
I'm most excited to see Jeff's and Bradley's.
-[Vincent] Cher? -Cher! Hello!
I'm actually gonna be really excited to see Laura's.
I'm gonna feel so good.
-[designer] That's not nice. -She's not nice, dude.
What are you talking about?
She is so mean and frigid and weird.
[designer] Why don't you use a pitchfork on her then?
[laughter]
[Kayne] To be incredibly honest,
I think this challenge has been the absolute
best one we've had so far.
[imitating Cher] Oh!
I'm working with a black lambskin leather
and a nude stretch Lycra
as well as a black sheer stretch mesh
so that it really takes you back
to that era of Marilyn, but still modernized for today.
[Angela] When I think Audrey Hepburn
I think very sleek, sophisticated.
I want to have the suggestion of skin for sexiness,
but then the chiffon draped over it.
So that we've got sexy lines on the inside,
but then you've got this sort of
mysterious covering on the outside.
This is a really classic piece that's very modern.
[Alison] When I think Farrah,
I think of, like, the '70s and '80s.
In a modern way, I'm giving it a really high waistband,
which is pretty hot right now using versatile fabrics.
I want to hint to the '70s,
but I don't want to make a dress that looks like
it belongs in the '70s.
[Jeffrey] I got one word for Bradley's top.
Supercalifragilistic expiala-crazy.
[laughter]
What's that Woody Allen movie? Sleepers?
[Vincent] Yeah, yeah.
It reminds me of Major Tom.
[bleep] insane! Sleepers.
Bradley, where are you? Come in.
[Bradley] I would love it if Cher
liked what I made, you know?
Maybe she will. Maybe she won't.
No, I love it. When it goes on--
Oh, this one, huh? Ooooosh!
Right, silver?
I want one of these for myself.
Designers, in just a minute
I'm sending in your models.
You're going to have 15 minutes with them
to have a little check in with them
about your look, to do any fittings
in anticipation of the runway showing tomorrow.
So take advantage of it.
[Uli] This is awesome that you guys come earlier.
[Michael Knight] Originally, I designed a very pretty dress.
I tried it on Nazri. It didn't look good.
I mean, it was a pretty dress,
but pretty wasn't what I was going for.
I looked at it. I stared at it.
And I was trying to let the essence
that is all Pam Grier, Foxy Brown, Sheba Baby
and let that seep into my brain.
So I had to do some quick thinking
and switch some stuff up.
[bleep].
[Bradley] I thought Katie was gonna be
a little bit bigger than the pants,
so I left some room in there.
Yeah, they're riding up.
They're fitting bad there.
And so we went there,
and then he took me to Serendipity.
Ohhh.
But it was perfect, you know, for my birthday,
'cause I don't even really like cake.
I just wanted ice cream.
[Kayne] My model is Amanda.
And Amanda will not shut up.
He said he really wanted to give the new iPod
that hasn't come out yet.
But he got me the iPod Shuffle,
because I've been using a CD player
with headphones for so long.
[Kayne] Are you freaking kidding me?
Shut up.
You should be pretty and seen and not open your mouth.
When I was a kid, I was always very satisfied.
I'm naturally a brunette.
[Robert] Amanda, I can't take on
your issues from childhood.
I'm sorry.
As soon as she walked out of the room, we were like...
[Robert] Oh, I thought I was gonna lose my mind.
[girlish laughter]
[Heidi] Coming up on Project Runway...
-I mean, it's just-- -Incredibly plain.
Thank you.
The only part that's bothering me
is this little bit right here.
It looks sloppy.
Designers, may I ask you to gather 'round, please?
I am delighted to welcome someone you all know.
Nathaniel Hawkins, lead stylist
for the TRESemmé hair care creative team,
who's here to talk to you
about the direction of the hair.
-Nathaniel. -This week's challenge
is really relevant to what I do on a daily basis.
When you think about these icons,
you get a picture in your head
of what they're supposed to look like.
But it's important to modernize it.
So that's kind of what I'm here for,
to figure out the direction of the beauty look.
And Nathaniel has one more thing to share.
The winning designer's look and model
will be featured in a TRESemme ad
in ELLE magazine.
[all cheering]
So it's a huge, huge, huge prize here at stake
because ELLE magazine reaches millions.
[Bradley] An ad for TRESemmé?
Yeah, I used their gel last night.
I really liked it.
It made my hair look better today, I think.
So you'll each have a private consultation
with your model with Nathaniel.
-Hello. -Hey, good to see you.
What we really want to do with her hair
is to get some extensions and just straighten it out.
Diana Ross, the fullness and curl out like this.
Farrah Fawcett, always have that motion of hair moving back.
I think Twiggy with the essence of the '60s.
Really shiny.
With Pam Grier I would encourage more of a fro.
When it comes to the beauty of Marilyn,
keep it more kind of a classic feeling.
Oh, yeah.
But a softer feeling to the hair,
and that's what makes it modern.
Love it, love it, love it.
Jackie Kennedy is-- was modern then, is modern now.
She has a longer head of hair.
Just cut her hair.
-Okay. -Ahh!
[upbeat music playing]
Hi, everybody. So how's Robert?
[Robert] We're good.
This needs a hella pressing too.
So this is the skirt.
Oh, so you are using the same fabric.
Yeah.
-I mean, it's just-- -Incredibly plain.
-Thank you. -Yes.
Incredibly plain.
He was like, "It's very simple."
And I think he might've even said "boring."
So he just wanted to warn me
against falling into that same pitfall.
-How's Kayne? -Good. How are you, sir?
I'm better seeing this.
I was wondering,
do you think it would be overkill
to do a really pretty cascading ruffle
sewn to the black?
Well, you know, I have to say
I really respond to that.
It takes away some of the severity of it.
It softens it a bit. I think it's a good idea.
Michael, how are you?
-I'm great, I'm great. -Good.
-I had to totally revamp. -Oh.
So what I'm doing now-- I kept the top of the dress.
-Okay. -As far as a bottom,
I'm gonna be adventurous
and I really want to do, like, a little hot pant.
I hate hot pants, but they're really now.
-Right. -They're back.
Tell me what's happening.
Right now I'm working on fit.
'Cause I don't have any extra seam allowance
-at the crotch. -You don't?
I mean, it looks almost like armor.
It looks almost like
the Tin Woodsman in The Wizard of Oz.
I'm concerned. I--I--
You've got to pull this look together and really--
Especially if it's a stage piece.
I'll see you in the morning.
[Robert] Details that no one will ever see or appreciate.
Details that will bore.
Details to bore.
Straight from Robert Best to Nina Garcia.
I can just hear Nina right now.
"Oh, hot pants."
It's a runway day, kids.
[Alison] This prize to me is
the most interesting one so far.
The fact that the model will be
featured in a TRESemmé ad in ELLE magazine
wearing one of our garments is amazing.
So I'm really hoping to win this one.
Ready?
Okay.
I don't have any bottoms to the top that I made,
so I really need to get some [bleep] cranked out.
So that's the only thing that has me shaking in my boots.
[Tim] Good morning, everybody.
[designers] Morning.
I am about to send in your models.
You have about two hours to fit them,
to take them to the TRESemmé hair salon,
and the L'Oréal Paris makeup room.
So make this work.
[upbeat music playing]
So you came up with a new idea?
Mm-hmm.
Okay. I'll be right back.
The thing I like about the boots
is it's just the whole boy toy look.
Do you think we should make the bottoms
a little smaller in the ankle?
Yeah, but I want you to be able to get into them still.
[Robert] I looked at the whole thing together,
and it just kind of wasn't as good as I would want.
But it's one of those things. You've made the choices.
And as Tim always says, you just have to make it work,
'cause it's either that or not show anything at all.
And that's not acceptable.
The only part that's bothering me
about this whole damn dress
-is this little bit right here. -It looks sloppy.
-Just because it's just-- -♪ Shut up! ♪
[Kayne] I will definitely use Amanda in the future.
I will probably put duct tape over her mouth
so she can't talk, because she talks too much.
[Michael Knight] I cut a pair of shorts out.
Made them at that final hour,
and it worked out for the best.
I'm excited and pleased with my results.
I'll finish it up, and then we can go up
for hair and makeup, all righty?
[upbeat music playing]
I have to sort of tame myself, I think,
because we don't want her to look like a hooker.
Having a little bit of height in the front.
If worst comes to worst we can always...
If worse comes to worst you're doing it yourself.
-No, I'm just kidding. -Forget it, baby!
We're gonna curl this entire head
and then shake it out.
Gorgeous. Good luck.
Designers, models, this is it.
We have to go down to the runway right now.
So get everything together and follow me now.
Okay? Let's go.
This has to stay nice and non-wrinkly.
[Robert] I told Danielle, "Just be still as a stone,
'cause this [bleep] is wrinkling like crazy."
Robert, I need you now.
Okay? We've gotta go, go, go.
A miracle from heaven is needed
to turn this whole thing around.
[Heidi] Coming up on Project Runway...
Everything's kind of off.
It looks like an old Halloween costume.
[tense music playing]
Hello.
[designers] Hello.
Welcome to the runway.
As you know, in fashion one day you're in,
and the next day...you're out.
There are ten of you now,
but after tonight,
there will be nine.
For this challenge we asked you
to modernize the look of a fashion icon.
We turned the tables
and had the models choose the designer
they wanted to work with.
And we let the models choose an icon for you.
We gave you $150
and two days to put it together.
You were also given a consultation
by Nathaniel Hawkins, lead stylist for TRESemmé.
The winning designer's look and model
will be featured in a TRESemmé ad
in ELLE magazine.
And because of this, there will be no immunity
for this challenge.
Let's meet the judges.
I would like to welcome back
top American designer Michael Kors.
Thank you. Hey, guys.
[designers] Hello.
Next we have Nina Garcia,
fashion director of ELLE magazine.
And our very own fashion icon,
Diane Von Furstenberg.
Good luck.
We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
One of you will be named the winner.
And one of you will be out.
Let's start the show.
[Alison] I was really happy with the overall look.
I could see Farrah in her in a modern way,
and I was happy with it all.
[Bradley] I was concerned about it
being spacey and moony.
But I think that you could see Cher in the look.
[Angela] I absolutely feel that I captured
the modern day Audrey Hepburn look.
It came out way better than I could've possibly imagined.
I'm hoping that the judges love it.
[Kayne] I could watch my gown
walk down the runway all day long.
Amanda added the drama and the class
and the old Hollywood glam back into it.
It made me feel incredibly proud
and excited to be here.
[Laura] I think I've done a great job
modernizing Katharine Hepburn's look.
I'm proud of it. It's very well-made.
I think it's very Katharine Hepburn.
My only concern is it's not as dramatic
as, say, a Marilyn Monroe dress.
[Vincent] I liked Jia when she walked out the runway.
I thought the dress was really modern.
It was kind of hip.
So I felt good about Twiggy. I think I nailed it.
[Michael Knight] I'm really excited with my decision
to change my garment completely.
I definitely think that it's something
that Pam Grier would wear in 2006.
[Richard] Danielle looked pretty good.
And I thought, okay,
you know, if maybe it was a little blurry
she might look like Jackie O.
It didn't look as great as I would've loved it to.
[Uli] I think I did a very good job styling my model.
She definitely represented a new look of Diana Ross.
It was exactly what I wanted, so I hope they like it.
[Jeffrey] I was in my element doing the project.
I think that if Madonna had come
to order something from me
she would've loved it.
I achieved 100% what I wanted to achieve.
[Heidi] We've scored your designs.
If I call your name,
please step forward.
Alison.
Laura.
Uli.
Jeffrey.
If I have called your names...
congratulations.
Your scores have qualified you to go to the next challenge.
You can leave the runway.
[tense music playing]
You're safe.
The six remaining designers
have the highest and the lowest scores.
One of you will be named the winner
and one of you will be out.
Let's bring out your models.
I would like to start with Kayne.
My fashion icon was Marilyn Monroe.
So I wanted to keep that Hollywood glam.
But to modernize it, I thought I would use leather
and some stretch fabric.
That's why I chose the black Austrian crystal detail
as opposed to clear rhinestones,
because my original vision, of course, was the clear
because I love sparkle.
Surprise.
I think it is genius.
I love the mix of the leather.
It's kind of goth Marilyn.
If Marilyn was around today,
and she was a little goth.
How's that back look? We didn't see the back.
The back's great. The back's fab.
You know, the hair, the makeup,
the whole presentation, I think, is very important.
And I think you understand that.
Vincent.
That's me.
Tell us who your fashion icon is.
It was Twiggy.
And Twiggy was incredible.
She was a simple,
fun, playful woman,
but she was also very much a woman,
very sophisticated.
I wanted to keep that geometric thing going,
and I wanted to
keep the simplicity going as well.
First of all, Twiggy is still alive,
so let's talk about it in the present tense.
I certainly don't get Twiggy.
I think the pockets are, like, insane to me.
[Diane] Maybe if the sleeves
were in the plaid
and more short, it would been a little humor.
I just think that it could've been a little happier.
-A little more-- -Spirited.
Yes. I don't see Twiggy.
I'm sorry to say.
Michael.
My fashion icon was Pam Grier.
She was a heroine in a lot of the movies.
Strong, bold.
I wanted to modernize it
by using a bold color,
so I chose this magenta.
I think it has a great cut.
To me, it's very sexy.
You know, you see the beautiful legs
and you see skin.
I didn't want to do a full pant in pink
'cause the color's so strong.
I thought that would be too much pink.
[Diane] I love it.
I think the proportion of the shorts
is perfect.
I wore a lot of hot pants in my days.
-Those are good ones. -Thank you.
And I think the top by itself could be an amazing piece.
Fabulous. Both pieces alone.
The shorts are perfect shorts.
They're perfect shorts. So kudos.
Bradley,
who was your fashion icon?
[Bradley] Cher.
And I pulled from the '70s
and also recognizing that Cher is very glamorous
and over the top.
I don't really love that outfit too much.
I think you're all over the place here.
Everything's kind of off.
[Michael Kors] What we've all always loved
about Cher is she's the ultimate chameleon.
So anything's possible.
I mean, the crotch on those pants is insane.
[Heidi] To me, this looks
like an old Halloween costume
that you pick up...
in the mall.
Angela.
My icon was Audrey Hepburn.
I immediately decided
that I wanted to do a black dress.
I wanted to modernize it with the texture of the fabric.
And accented the hip and the hem with--
I call them fleurchons.
It's definitely Audrey Hepburn.
And actually I find it timeless.
[Nina] I like that you have put
the little details that are very you.
I would want to have that dress in every color.
I think it's beautiful.
Thank you very much.
Robert. Who's your fashion icon?
My fashion icon is Jackie O.
I did want to sort of update it.
And I thought a simple, clean sort of suit.
She was always in very tailored, clean pieces.
And just really try and keep in mind
that, you know, she was very about
clean silhouettes, very ladylike.
Polished, I think.
I don't really see a Jackie here.
Even a modern day Jackie.
I think the choice of color, the choice of fabric--
I don't get it.
I felt that maybe a modern version would be
a little bit less perfect and a little less pristine.
The choice of linen
is probably the worst mistake.
[Heidi] It just doesn't look as sharp
as she would've walked around.
[Michael Kors] Jackie O did every decade fabulously.
But the connective thread, no matter what,
was impeccable.
Neat. Sharp.
It looks nothing like her.
Okay, we've heard what you've had to say.
Models, please remember one of you will be featured
in the TRESemmé ad,
so there's a lot at stake for you as well.
We're gonna have a little chat,
and then I'll call you back.
You can leave the runway. Thank you.
Nina, what did you think about Kayne?
I have to say I am never bored with Kayne.
[Michael Kors] He held himself back
but still was himself.
That's a beautiful dress.
And then there's Angela.
I would love to have that dress.
[Nina] Angela really surprised me.
[Heidi] She can do sleek and beautiful.
-[Nina] Yeah. -Looked modern.
Michael Knight.
Talk about presentation. It was great.
She turned the corner and I thought to myself,
she looks great.
She looks modern,
but she feels like the character.
And then when he spoke to us,
he really thought about this.
His whole thing was perfection.
[Heidi] Who do we hate?
I really had a problem with Vincent's choice of fabric.
I thought it looked more Brady Bunch than Twiggy.
I looked at the details like the sleeve.
The pockets look like they were added.
I think Vincent has a problem with his presentation.
Bradley.
I just looked at it and I thought, "Is that Cher?"
Like, what was Cher about that?
[Nina] Nothing. Nothing.
But the worst, it was so badly made.
Yes.
I just thought it looked...so cheap.
The whole entire combination did not work.
Robert.
I thought Robert's was boring.
I didn't get this Jackie O at all.
And I was so surprised, because I really thought
-that he would really-- -It's very him.
Yes, it was so him.
Fabric was just such a strange choice.
He did like an old lady again,
like in the last challenge.
So we've made our decision.
Let's bring them back out.
-[Nina] Great. -[Michael Kors] Great.
[tense music playing]
The six of you represent the best and the worst.
One of you will be named the winner,
and one of you will be out.

The six of you represent the best and the worst.

Angela.
You're in. Please leave the runway.
And now for the winner.
Congratulations...
Michael.
We all loved your outfit.
We loved the choice of color.
The proportions, the fit, the make.
We just thought it was perfect.
Thank you all. Thank very much, thank you.
Your look and model will be in the TRESemmé ad
in ELLE magazine.
You can leave the runway.
Thank you, judges.
[Michael Knight] I'm so excited right now about winning.
-I won! -You won? Yes!
Whoo-hoo!
[Michael Knight] I'm definitely, you know,
living it right up now.
But come tomorrow morning,
it's back to square one, and I'm ready to work.
Whew!
[tense music playing]
Kayne, you're in.
Please leave the runway.
Vincent.
You're in. Please leave the runway.
Robert, Bradley, one of you will be out.
Robert, you couldn't have chosen a worse fabric
for your style icon, Jackie O.
And once again, we were bored.
Bradley, you had Cher.
You could've done anything.
But you gave us a poorly made, cheap looking outfit
unworthy of your icon.
Robert.
You're in.
We believe in your talent,
but you do have to wake us up
if you want to stay.
You can leave the runway.
[silently] Thank you.
[model whispering] Oh, God.
That means, Bradley, you're out.
Auf Wiedersehen.
Thank you.
[Nina] Bye. Good luck.
[Bradley] This is serious fashion.
Serious high fashion going on,
and I made a tinker toy.
[laughing]
And they kicked me out. Pop!
[descending whistle]
-How is everybody? -[Bradley] Hi, Tim.
[Tim] Bradley, somebody had to go.
Yeah, I'm out. It's my time.
We're gonna miss you.
[Bradley] I'm not disappointed, you know.
I feel like, um, given where I'm at
I did what I did, and that's it.
You know, I'm going home.
[Michael Knight] The challenge that I won was a TRESemmé ad
in ELLE magazine.
Are we good?
[Michael Knight] It was a great photo sh**t.
I'm excited for Nazri. I'm excited for myself.
[Heidi] Next on Project Runway...
The next few challenges are going to be tough.
-Ooh! -Oh, my God!
Oh, my--Yeah!
My initial reaction was, "Shut up!"
[Laura] There are some dresses
that look like garbage.
To me she looks huge.
I think you just went over the top on it.
You stepped over the boundary of taste.
[Heidi] Visit bravotv.com
to learn more about the fashions
you've seen on today's show.
