For your final challenge, you will be designing 12 looks

for Olympus Fashion Week.

[Laura] When I look at Jeffrey's rack,

I just don't believe

that he sewed that collection himself.

How can it be that he doesn't have

a single button left to sew on? That's true.

[Laura] You just don't pull

craftsmanship like that out of your a*s.

[Tim] It can be very difficult

-to prove something like this. -[Laura] Absolutely.

I told Tim Gunn

that I felt that you had outside help.

[Jeffrey] You're a crazy b*tch.

Who [bleep]ing cares what you think?

Some concerns have been raised

about the execution of your work.

and whether it's really all been done by you.

We need to look into this,

including a very careful examination of your receipts.

[soft dramatic music playing]

It just--I wish the whole thing never happened.

He said, "Oh, I'm a professional.

That's why everything looks so professional."

[Michael Knight] We noticed the leather jeans

at the same time.

I was like, "Dang, those are really damn good."

[Uli] That's really not what it's all about.

[Laura] Well, it is, actually.

He's like the athlete on steroids, and we're not.

Jeffrey has in place a business that involves

sample makers and pattern makers.

Jeffrey is in the position

to have outside help.

And I just suspect that that's what happened here.

If it's a matter of sending out leather for work,

that's completely legal.

Leather work, bead work...

So if it's just a matter of that and there

being a receipt for it, then there's no issue at all.

I know that. That's not the thing

that bothers me, you know?

What bothers me is that-- that you question my integrity.

[Laura] I never questioned your integrity.

[Jeffrey] You sure the [bleep] did.

You're twisting my words around.

[Jeffrey] You sure did. And that's your [bleep] problem.

-[phone ringing] -Hello?

[Tim] Jeffrey, hi. It's Tim Gunn.

I went through the receipts.

I only see these two receipts for Park Pleating.

Okay.

[Tim] So what I'd like you to do is call them

and have them fax over

that you have the missing receipts.

What happens if I can't get them?

[Tim] I don't know.

If you can't get them

we'll explore that when that happens.

The guy--It's like Sanford and Son over there.

Tim called me and said that they didn't have a receipt

for the leather bubble shorts.

If this receipt isn't gonna surface,

isn't that the [bleep] way things work?

I need copies of some receipts.

I'm just scared to death that for want of one receipt,

I'm not going to be showing at Bryant Park.

Um, I would really like to talk to you.

Uh, so please give me a call back.

It's driving me crazy just sitting around waiting.

Stressed out, freaked out, the whole thing.

I can't say enough about how hard I've worked.

It would just be utterly tragic to be disqualified.

I don't even know how that would feel.

[Uli] You making a new outfit, Jeffrey?

Yeah, I'm making a...

A skirt.

Just in case?

Yeah, if I can't get the receipt for the--

-Yeah. -The shorts.

If they say to me, "You can't use these shorts,"

what am I gonna [bleep] use?

Well, I better make something.

-Hi, everybody. -[designer] Hi, Tim.

How are you?

Good.

Designers, may I ask you to gather around please?

[tense music playing]

As all of you know, concerns were raised

about the possibility that Jeffrey outsourced

the construction of some of his pieces.

We have taken these concerns very seriously.

And after a very thorough

investigation and inquiry,

I am absolutely confident in Jeffrey's assertion

that he did this work himself.

-[sigh] -[Uli] Yes.

[crying]

Jeffrey did receive outside help

on some of the pieces involving pleating,

but this is entirely within the scope of the rules,

providing there was a receipt.

And unfortunately, Jeffrey, you did not have a receipt

for the pleating on the shorts.

So you'll have to lose them from the collection.

Okay?

We did an exhaustive accounting of your receipts.

And all of you are within your $8,000 budget

with the exception of Jeffrey.

And Jeffrey, you are over by...

$227.95.

So that means that you have to remove something

from the collection,

and what it is is completely up to you.

We also need to inform the judges

that you went over budget.

-Okay. -[Tim] Okay?

I just want all of you to know that we take

integrity and fairness in this process

very, very, very seriously.

And as of now,

I'm very confident that we can have a runway show tomorrow

that is a very even playing field.

-Thanks. -[Uli] Thank you, Laura.

[Jeffrey] It was pretty amazing that things worked out

the way they did.

It just felt really, really good.

And I'm totally ecstatic and satisfied.

[Uli] See, you are a softy inside.

-[Laura] What, Uli? -You won. You made him cry.

No--I didn't want to make him cry.

Jesus.

Laura's accusations just came

from her inexperience.

What are you gonna do, you know?

Laura's fine to me.

I'm just really happy and grateful

to be showing at Bryant Park.

I was whispering, "Don't cry, Jeffrey. Don't cry."

I never meant for Jeffrey not to end up

on that runway at Fashion Week.

In the end, the solution was a great compromise,

and I'm happy to compete fairly against him.

[Michael Knight] Let's go to Bryant Park, Jeff.

-Let's go. -[laughing]

I've been working my a*s off for two months.

I love my collection.

I feel good.

I'm not anxious, I'm not nervous.

Everything for me has been pretty much fallin' in place.

I feel good about tomorrow.

I think I've got a strong collection.

And, I mean, I made it that far.

Of course, now, I want to win too.

[Jeffrey] Tim told me that I was over budget

and the first thing I thought of was,

I'll get rid of the wigs.

Since I couldn't use the leather bubble shorts,

I made the denim skirt.

But I brought this extra pair of leather pants.

I had sort of dismissed them and forgotten about them.

And I decided to use those leather pants.

[Tim] Hi, everybody.

[Uli] Hi, Tim.

[Tim] Everyone, can I ask you to gather round please?

You know, it's our last "gather round".

[Jeffrey] Oh!

It really is.

So make it a good one, Tim.

[Tim] You know--

Sorry, I have to compose myself.

-Uh-oh. -Aww.

You're going to Olympus Fashion Week.

It's incredibly thrilling.

And I'm so proud of you, I can't contain myself.

I'm sorry.

[Tim] Anyway, no matter what the outcome is tomorrow,

you're all winners.

And I only got two hours of sleep.

I'm relieved that Jeffrey's gonna be there

on the runway, because I want to beat him on the runway,

not in the accountant's office.

I've waited a lifetime for this moment.

What if I'm not?

[Michael Knight] I'm just really trying

to dig deep within

and find a really peaceful, calm place.

'Cause I know the adrenaline is gonna be rushing

when it's actually time to start prepping for the show.

Tents.

Walking up to the tents,

I think that's when it started hitting me

that we are actually at Bryant Park.

This is the biggest day of my life so far.

It's awesome.

[Michael Knight] I cannot [bleep] believe I'm here.

I cannot believe it.

I used to sit around TV and watch these shows.

And, like, "Man, I want to be there."

I'm here.

Really no words can describe it.

[Laura] It was really thrilling.

It was amazing just to realize

that in a matter of hours,

every one of those chairs

was just gonna be jammed with people.

It was wild.

[Jeffrey] The one thing I feel like I have to prove to people

is that I belong here.

I deserve to be here.

And this is what I'm supposed to be doing.

[Michael Knight] We're ready, we're amped.

And immediately, all that wow-ness

turns into, like, "Okay, let's do it.

It's time to work."

[Heidi] Coming up on Project Runway...

The shorts aren't happening anymore.

It's the white leather pants and that top.

This eye is beautiful.

that you belong here.

So everything has to be perfect.

Outfit, perfect. Model, perfect.

Everything has to be right.

Everything has to be ready,

and the girls all have to be lined up.

[Laura] It, like, hit me all at once.

I was eerily calm, and now suddenly,

it's done, I'm ready to send them out.

And it hits me. The nerves just hit me.

[Uli] All the models are dressed.

I'm really, really happy how they all look.

And I'm just ready to show the world what I can do.

God, y'all look really hot. I'm so excited.

It's come to life now. I really like it.

It's do or die, now or never.

You get this one shot,

and I'm glad that I've been given it.

[Jeffrey] I had all of the looks on all of the girls.

It's just an amazing feeling. You know, at that point,

what's about to go out on the runway is my best.

And that felt really good.

This is our finale.

This is what all of our designers

have been waiting for, and they've been working

really hard to come to this point.

I would like to introduce our judges.

this collection I put together.

showing at New York Fashion Week.

And Project Runway made it happen.

And I'm so thankful for that.

and it came true.

and my friends to be here.

I was really happy about every single piece.

I thought it looked amazing,

to make it big in the fashion world.

And I did it, right?

I'm big, and I'm in the fashion world.

to send a message to American women

to remind them to be fabulous,

to take a few minutes to take care of yourself.

And through fashion,

you can actually make your life better.

Well, I'm here at Fashion Week, and I'm so excited.

My collection is called Street Safari.

The inspiration was a woman that's on the hunt

to try to find out who she is.

And she finds it, and she finds a sexy, secure,

sophisticated, just, rowr! woman.

You know?

So, uh,

Street Safari.

Enjoy it.

[Michael Knight] What I have to prove to America

with my collection is

I do have a place here at Fashion Week.

I really was on a mission to do my best work.

And I think I have.

There's a lot more that I have to give.

There's a lot more I have in me.

How you doing? Nice to see you.

I'm excited, man.

I'm excited. I think it went really well.

[indistinct chatter]

It's amazing.

I really--I'm so glad that I didn't drop the ball.

-You didn't. -No.

[Uli] Right now, I don't care if I win or not.

I saw the response and I know people love it.

There's one part left.

I have no idea if I'll win or not.

But I think the crowd loved the collection.

I love Project Runway. I love Michael.

I love Uli's collection the best.

So I came up to see what's going on

in the fashion world this week.

Just based on the collection,

I'm sorry, Michael, but Uli.

I liked all four designers.

But I really liked Laura's collection.

Today, I liked Uli's collection.

But I think over the course of the competition,

uh, I've liked what Michael's done cumulatively.

Laura is my favorite now.

-Yeah. -Yeah.

I mean, I have to say I really love Jeffrey.

I think Jeffrey has this amazing passion inside of him.

And it really showed in his collection.

What I want to know is anyone going to go into your store?

-It's always a possibility. -[laughs grimly]

Honestly, I think Uli rocked the [bleep] out.

Gorgeous.

-I-- -Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

[tense music playing]

[Heidi] How exciting was this?

Oh, I think it was really a great show, don't you?

Emotional. Great.

Everybody had a different point of view.

It was fantastic.

Everybody in the world wanted to be there today,

and they pulled it off.

Laura--

I would love to start with you.

-Okay. -Tell us about your collection.

Well, first of all, I really wanted to do evening wear.

And I just really wanted to create,

um, a collection that was romantic

and sort of escapist

and luxurious.

I have to say, for $8,000,

you put a collection together that was...spectacular.

[Michael Kors] $30,000 worth. I mean--

First off, tell me about the beading.

Did you do this beading?

I did do the beading.

It's a combination of three colors of rhinestones,

gray pearls, and sequins.

[Heidi] They're sewn on.

[Michael Kors] And you sat there sewing those?

[Laura] Yeah, but not, like, for a week straight.

I mean, I worked on it over the entire two months.

I've gotta say that I just kept thinking,

"These are all gorgeous.

Where's my surprise factor?"

-Well, you know, I-- -[Nina] In--In all honesty,

you already knew that that was our chief complaint

about your designs.

So why not...

-[Michael Kors] Expand? -Expand on that? Yes.

So I did, in my own way,

try to sort of pump up the volume

with, you know, feather jackets,

and maybe a little more,

you know, stiffness in hems.

I think it's perfectly fine to be as focused,

because, you know, with evening wear,

you do all these colors,

but ultimately, people want the black dress.

'Cause you think you'll get the most mileage out of it.

I think given the restraints, I think the focus...

was extraordinary.

Let's keep going with Michael Knight.

So tell us about your collection.

This whole experience with Project Runway,

I really found who I was as a designer.

And that was the start of my inspiration.

Just that hunt, that search.

Um, from there, I actually just started to think safari.

It's, um...

I started to feel a little

inspiration from the '70s.

And I kinda mixed both of those worlds

and came up with my collection here.

Well, it's clear when you came out

that you were the crowd favorite.

Everybody was rooting for you.

I wish I could say

the collection stood up to that.

Um...

There were pieces that I liked, but--

I hate to say it, I was disappointed.

[Michael Kors] I've gotta say that

you turned the volume so far up.

I mean, she's in a print.

It's body conscious. It's beaded at the neck.

Plus she has a big gold bag.

Plus--I mean, it's just-- It's a lot.

And I was like, "Well, what happened?"

I mean, it was Bryant Park.

I really wanted to get a point across.

Like, this woman is strong.

She's serious.

She's self-confident.

But there is a fine line.

Yeah, it's a very fine line, which, you know--

I'm--I'm young. I'm 28, I'm still learning.

This is, um, my first time ever

doing anything this, um, on this large of a scale.

The clothes are made beautifully.

-They fit beautifully. -Yes. And you had a range.

You also showed us a range.

You did the bathing suits.

You did the shorts. You did the trousers.

[Heidi] There was an outfit

-for any day possible. -Yes.

You know, I did what I could do.

[Heidi] Jeffrey--

What is the story that you're telling in your collection?

I really sorta started with

Japanese ghost stories and demons.

And it just started evolving organically from there.

That dress is adorable, and I think you did some

beautiful detailing.

The zippers--and, uh, there was a lot of ideas.

[Jeffrey] I have a lot of ideas.

I think that the cool thing, also, here--

You dressed your girl...

at kind of every juncture in her life.

You know, I got to see her in a party dress.

I knew what she was wearing to go to the movies.

I knew what she was wearing maybe even to go to work.

So you really kind of thought about her whole life.

The hard--the hard thing was wanting to show a range.

-It's hard with 12. -Without being schizophrenic.

Yeah, with just 12 looks, you know.

That's very tough.

I think it's also clear that your sportier,

funkier, edgier stuff is your strength.

Some--the long dress that I think you did,

and the blue things in the show,

to me didn't connect with anything else.

Those seemed like the odd pieces out.

Jeffrey, also, part of the challenge

was to stay within the budget.

And we've heard that you went over the budget.

-I did. -The budget was $8,000.

-Yes. -And how much did you go over?

I went over by $200.

So the first thing that came to my mind

when Tim said, "You're over,"

was let's lose the wigs.

Take the wigs out.

And I'm about $400 under at this point.

[Heidi] Uli, now it's your turn.

Tell us about your collection.

I really wanted to show that I can do, um,

other things than just colors and prints.

And something which has a much broader variety

than what I've been showing so far.

[Nina] Uli, I think your clothes are terrific.

-Thank you. -I think your clothes

will sell.

Yeah, they do.

I think your clothes

are clothes women like and will buy.

You made very nice solids.

You know, I know that you love the prints

and you understand color.

But you can do this very well too.

I would wear every outfit that I saw

-coming down that runway. -Thank you.

There was a great variety in there.

I thought it was really young and fun.

Michael?

I mean, like, this dress

is a beautiful dress.

I mean, she turned the corner,

and I gotta say, that's-- It's, like, wow.

But I felt that the connective thread

from a color point of view was disjointed,

wasn't a story.

At a point, I really wanted to take all the colors out.

And I felt I can make a whole collection

just with these nude colors.

For me, it's really where I live.

That's how I get inspired.

And maybe I should move to New York.

Maybe--

Well, the resort market

is probably the biggest market

in our industry right now.

And I think

the Miami and the sunshine is a good inspiration.

Don't go away from there.

Okay, we've heard what you had to say.

This is gonna be a tough decision.

So we're gonna have a little chat,

and when I bring you back,

we're gonna find out who will be the winner

of Project Runway.

You can leave the runway.

What about Uli?

Her clothes are the kind of clothes

that women just want to put on.

[Nina] I like that she pays attention to the details.

I like her ornamentation.

[Fern] And she's a worker. I think she's, uh...

She's passionate.

I just think this show was

a little bit of a-- a roller coaster.

[Heidi] Jeffrey?

Out of all of them,

I think he's the most innovative.

[Michael Kors] Oh, it's his own look.

[Nina] Yes, and it's his point of view.

[Michael Kors] The variety, I thought, was very exciting.

And at the same time,

it didn't look all over the place.

It was definitely a focused statement.

And we all knew which piece we didn't like.

-[Michael] The gown was way off. -[Heidi] Everything was great,

and this dress was horrible.

Maybe that was the Japanese dream.

Nightmare. Nightmare.

-Yeah. -Yeah.

What do you think about

Jeffrey going over budget?

[Heidi] What about Laura?

Meticulous should be her middle name,

number one.

I mean, look at the workmanship

in those clothes.

[Fern] To have never made clothing other than

things that she's worn herself,

it's pretty impressive.

[Heidi] I mean, wouldn't you buy any of these dresses?

You'll have them in your closet forever.

I think she can make beautiful clothes.

But is she creative?

Is she an innovator? I don't know.

What about Michael?

[Michael Kors] Well, I think

he understands a woman's body.

But I think the taste was questionable.

[Nina] It was too tight, too sexy.

-Too loud. -[Heidi] When he auditioned

and we looked at his portfolio--

[Michael Kors] We were a little shocked.

[Heidi] I thought we were right there again,

and it was really strange.

But the safari thing was interesting.

I mean, his quest to find identity.

It was noble.

I mean, all four of them have a career in fashion.

-There's no question about it. -[Michael Kors] For sure.

People are gonna want to wear these clothes.

[Nina] I mean, already I got

a response on--on Uli.

That was amaze-- Just leaving the show.

"How do I get in touch with Uli?"

So we've made our decision?

Yeah.

I think so.

Then let's bring them back out.

[Heidi] Out of 15 designers,

you four made it to Olympus Fashion Week.

So one dream already came true

for all of you.

But only one of you can be the winner.

[Heidi] Wow.

This was really, really hard.

You four made it to Olympus Fashion Week.

We're all very proud of you.

You guys did an amazing job.

We believe in your future as a designer.

I auditioned for season two and didn't make it.

And I auditioned for season three and made it.

About to get out there and take the world by storm.

It was a tough decision.

Laura--

You created an exquisitely

crafted collection.

But it was too limited for us.
