They used to be very tense, standing there

Different circumstances today.
But we're thrilled to be with you again,
And it's wonderful to see you.

You know what, we have so many millions
Of fans to thank.
And later tonight, we will announce
The winner of the fan favorite competition.
The winner will receive a check for $10,000.
-Nice. -Thrilling, huh?
Very nice. It's been a while--
I haven't seen you guys in such a long time.
You've been out and about
In the public again, and it's been airing.
How has it been?
It's weird.
Why is it weird?
Because our lives haven't changed
As far as our jobs,
So when you're walking around
Doing your normal routine,
It's like, people just stop you.
I want to know, simone, how's it been for you?
You left us a little bit
On the earlier side.
I did, I left early.
It's been good, actually.
Kit and I were in the airport
And there was a group of kids that were all flying together,
And they rushed up to us and were like,
"We want your picture!"
Yeah, I get a lot of emails
From, like, eight-year-old little girls.
And they send me, like, scans
Of their illustrations
And they ask me for my advice,
And it's--
The coolest part is to be a positive inspiration--
Absolutely, absolutely.
To, you know, young kids who want to design.
These little girls that come up
And they recognize me,
And that's amazing,
Because they're just like,
"You gave me such hope that, like,
"It's okay if I think differently, and it's okay
If I don't do things the way everybody else does."
That part's really awesome.
My favorite part is when celebrities accost me.
-[Designers laugh] -what?
Who's accosted you, sweet p?
Jack black said I was his favorite.
Um, catherine keener.
Like, brad pitt was in the vicinity, and I was like,
"Brad pitt's right there.
"Why does anyone care that I'm here?"
And they were like, "they want to meet you."
And I'm like, "are you kidding?"
I loved it.
Victorya, I want to know
How it's been for you.
You just had a show. For fashion week.
-Yes. -Congratulations.
-Thank you. -[Designers applaud]

And that was
Your first fashion show, yeah?
-Yes. -And how was that?
Um, a lot of work.
Um, but the turnout was great.
And I've gotten some write-ups.
Congratulations, really.
That's a wonderful achievement.
What I would like to know from you guys,
When you first came,
And you all met each other,
Who did you think would be showing at fashion week?
I thought carmen right off the bat.
You're so sweet, marion. Thank you.
[Jack] I was actually impressed by everyone, like, to be honest.
I thought everyone was really good.
Steve, who did you think was really, really good?
I remember during that very first challenge
Watching rami play with that gray fabric
For four or five hours straight,
And never picking up his scissors.
And just thinking to myself,
"Jesus, that kid is screwed."
And then all of a sudden, I turned around
And I'm like,
"You have got to be kidding me."
Just, where did you pull this out of?
I was really blown away by him straight off the bat.
I want to cut to the chase now.
-Great. -Go for it.
And bring out our finalists.
-[Applause] -yay.
Okay, our first designer was the winner
Of the final challenge of the season.
Our young prodigy, christian siriano.
[Kit] whoo, won again!
Oh, my god, he's faking it.
[Heidi] welcome.
How long did you spend on your hair today?
Uh, I don't know.
I did it like four times.
It's fierce.
Our next finalist represents the women in fashion.
Jillian lewis.

I missed you all.

Our third designer, draping master rami kashou.

For his dramatic flair
And his over-the-top personality
And designs.

Welcome. Did you miss everybody?
Yeah.
This year on project runway,
The judges were gridlocked in their deliberation
About who would move forward to fashion week,
So it ended differently than it has
In any previous season.
Let's take a look.
Designers,
This was a difficult decision.
Only one of you will move on to compete
At fashion week.
Chris...you're in.
Rami...you're also in.
What?
[Heidi on tv] we're going to give you both an opportunity
To create collections for mercedes-benz fashion week.
Now, don't get too excited.
Because only one of you
Will make it there.
When you return to new york
For fashion week,
You will show us your three strongest looks.
We will determine which one of you
Will move on to compete at fashion week
And which one will be out.
We're both in.
-Really? -Are you [bleep]ing me?
But they will choose one of us after we do the collection.
Congrats to you too.
How did you guys feel?
It still chokes me up to even think about it.
Because when you said that I was in,
I was just, like, in total,
Absolute, mortified shock.
And then when you said rami was in, I was like,
"Oh, they're not doing this."
[Rami] you caught me off guard.
But it kind of brought us closer together.
Because we kind of, like, knew
That we had the same battle ahead of us.
So rami and chris, how are you each feeling
About your collections?
I love my collection.
I think it's, uh... What is it?
It's a little, maybe a little kooky.
-Um, not too much though. -[Chuckling]
And whether or not it ends up being
In the finals, I'm really thrilled with it.
Rami?
I'm very proud
Of what I've done.
I feel very strongly about it-- I could only be hopeful
That it will impress the judges in the end.
And that I will get to speak my voice as a designer.
What would it mean to you to go to fashion week, chris?
It would mean having beaten him, for one thing.
And it's the world stage of fashion.
I mean, it's the super bowl.
It is.
I would just, like, like--
[Makes exploding sound]
Well, there's another person
Sitting right here who we
All had high hopes for.
You know, we thought was gonna maybe make it to the finale.
But due to health issues,
Didn't.
Let's see what happened.
Oh, god.
I had what I thought was, like, a pimple
In the inside of my nose.
And it's getting progressively worse.
I have had skin staph infections twice before,
And I'm kind of concerned.
[Whispering] are you hurting?
I'm not hurting, I'm just...
The treatment is really hard core.
And I'm afraid I'll have to leave and--to do it.
Jack definitely looks a little swollen.
It's kind of scary, you know?
Hey, dr. Bowen.
So basically what's going on
Is I am almost-- you know, I'm 95% sure
I have a mrsa in my face again.
[Jack on tv] for me it is important for people to know
That I've been hiv positive for 17 years,
But my immune system's not suppressed at all.
So it wasn't about that.
Anyone can get what I got.
It's a dangerous bacteria.
Obviously I have some health issues going on.
It's certainly not the way I wanted to go out,
But I think I have to go to the hospital.
I think I need to leave the show.
We have to support your getting better.
I know.
That was probably one of the hardest decisions
I've ever made in my life.
It was absolutely heartbreaking.
Jack and I
Just had a discussion.
And I just want jack to share it with you.
[Sighs] well, you all know I've had
This infection in my face.
I'm just concerned about getting better.
I had so much fun.
I certainly don't want to leave like this,
But I just don't feel comfortable being here anymore.
Jack's made the decision to leave.
It was so nice to meet all of you.
[Jack sobbing]
I had the best time of my life. Literally.
[All murmuring good-byes]
[Christian] it's such an honor.
-[Sweet p] I'm crying now. -Are there tissues?
Jack, we all of course want to know how you feel now.
Um, it was very serious and I made the right decision.
But, you know, shortly thereafter I was fine.
But you were in the hospital what, for a week?
Yeah, I was in the hospital for five days.
It's very serious.
As quickly as it came, it kind of healed itself.
But, you know,
It was-- it's very emotional for me.
Christian, how did-- how did that affect all of you?
I just felt really close to jack.
Having just worked
In a team challenge with him
Where we had such a great time,
It just, like, it hit us like a big storm.
And it was sad,
But I'm glad I get to see you now.
Victorya, you were very upset also.
And a little angry.
I'd say I was upset.
I don't--i'd say upset is probably the, um,
Key operative word for me
In regards to that situation.
Victorya's always a bit uptight, no?
-[Designers titter] -or is it just me?
No, it's not just you.
[Tim laughs]
Do you think about
Coming back for next season?
I get asked that all the time.
So--actually, the top questions I get
Are "is tim that nice," "is heidi that pretty,"
And "are you coming back next season?"
I swear to god, that's what everyone asks.
I want to know all three answers
To all three questions.
Yes, yes, I don't know.
[Heidi] all right.
The next question is from maurice.
This was actually texted to us
To the project runway mobile fan club.
And he asks,
"Kevin, are you sure you're not g*y?"
[Laughter]
[Kevin] well, um...
I've been hanging out with jack a lot.
I've probably been in every g*y bar in the city.
But no, no. I live with my girlfriend.
Everything's kind of cool there.
I don't know about this.
Are you convinced?
[Tim] not entirely.
[Laughter]
Because we have so much great footage
That we have to look at right now.
[Laughter]
Oh, my god, here we go.

I have plenty of quote-unquote "girlfriends" now.

We work so much.
And we eat chinese food.
And, I mean, girlfriend,
That is not cute for everyone.

[Jack] I thought it kind of was the best diet ever.
Like, I lost, like, ten pounds in a week.
[Carmen] I lost so much weight--
Yeah, I have a very great quote from kit.

When women lose weight,
That first ten pounds, it's here and here.
It's all gone.

[Heidi] chris, how was it for you?
The weird thing to me was, you know,
Being a big fan of the show for so long,
It's like all of a sudden, the first day,
There's tim, heidi, runway,
Sew something, everything.
It's like...
I'm--i'm on the project runway
That I've watched for three seasons.
And you don't have time
To stop and think about it.
You just keep going and going and going
And going and going.
And then it's all a big blur.
-Mm-hmm. -I know that
The long hours and the lack of sleep
Made all of you feel as though you were living
In a different world.
Maybe even a different planet.
And there was one of you
About whom it was speculated
May be from another planet,
Owing to your unconventional methods.
Let's take a look.
Elisa is a very intriguing person.
Oh, it's already wet.
[Elisa] I know. I just did a spit mark.
What do you mean? You spit on it?
What is going on?
Sometimes I spit mark it, which seems to be
-Really disturbing to-- -what?

Okay, got it. And then you go--

And then you go, "okay, great."
Then you sit down and you sew the seam,

They really see me as someone from another planet.
I had a dream last night that I got dropped in a--

And so I decided to start teaching myself

That wasn't so conscious.

Your favorite challenge this season?"
[Kevin] weight loss.
Kevin, why was your weight loss one
The favorite?
Those ladies were great.
I mean, trans-- transforming
The whole clothing situation on their bodies,
Making them feel good,
It was really-- it was amazing.
And christian?
I liked the avant-garde challenge.
And I liked the last challenge a lot.
'Cause it was so inspiring.
-Me too. -Yeah.
Well, whether it was a fun challenge
Or a difficult challenge,
The stress and pressure
Took its toll on one of you.
-Oh, jeez. -And let's have a look.
I'm an emotional person, yes.
But I don't cry all that much.

This whole experience was really emotional for me.
I was discovering who I was as a designer.
You know, I didn't realize I was gonna cry like a woman.

All of us cried on the show.

I-i really don't care
What people say, 'cause, you know, so what.

I mean, it's nice to be able to show your emotions

There's anything negative about it.
I think it's a-- I see beauty in it.
I just have to say, though,
I was so thrilled for you when you won,
And you even turned that into a crying jag.

Um, it was very hurtful.
After the challenge, I felt that
I wasn't missed at all.

And then the other comment was
That kit said is, "even if she did finish,
The outfit just wasn't good enough."
And that was very hard for me.
'Cause it means a lot to me
What you guys... You know.
[Kit] oh, it was not...
You know, it was hard. It was hard.

[Kit] and you have to know
That you were dearly missed,
And it was so hard to have a vacancy.
I mean, especially for jillian.
We didn't expect you to go that soon either.
We were just, like, enjoying your presence.
And that was
The first, like, confusing thing to happen.
Like, we were all getting close,
And then all of a sudden,
You didn't come home with us that night.
And I really missed you.
And I know that they missed you too.
And they expressed that to me.
I also think that we know the state of duress
That we were all under.
And so I give everyone,
Like, some license.
[Tim] I think it's fair to say
That regardless of what was said,
Most of you had
A very good sense of humor about it all,
And were able to laugh it off.
And one of you was able to laugh it off...

[Tim] as you all know,
Heidi and nina and michael have judged
A lot of challenges over the last four seasons.
But this season,
There was one challenge that broke
The poker-faced veneers
Of our judges.
Let's have a look.
[Michael] oh, my.
[Chris] we were all thinking,
What are the judges going to say
For this challenge?
What is nina garcia gonna say about a pink spandex outfit
With rhinestones on it?
When ricky's model came out,
She was very over the top.
And at the end of her last pose,
She did, like, a super sexy move.
Michael kors just lost it.
[Laughing]
It was contagious. Like, I started laughing.
And michael kors could just not stop.
It was like a kid in church.
[All laughing]
It was like one too many ridiculous things
In this kind of ridiculous runway show.
Michael is losing it.
[Laughing hysterically] I've lost my voice!
I'm trying to be so poker.
Okay. All right.
I'm good.
[Magical story time music]

[Jillian] the laughter, I think we all agree,
Was probably one of our classic moments being here.
It was really...unexpected
To see michael kors crack like that.

The whole thing, I just thought,
Was so hysterically funny-- I don't know.
[Nina] it was a fun challenge, though.
Totally.
But i-i-i've never cracked up.
This is the first time.
Well, while the judges had a difficult time
With this challenge,
You all sought inspiration from it.
And tapped into your own personal divas.
And we're going to have a look at that.
[Nina] oh...
[Chris] the wwe divas were pretty tough.
But I think that the designers
Have a really good chance of winning
In a good old-fashioned catfight.
My wrestling name is ferocia coutura.
My signature move is hairspray in the eyes
And then I pull a really tight braided ponytail
And make the girls bleed.
[Jillian] my diva name would be tuffie.
My signature move would be a pirouette into a kick,
And I would kick someone right in the face.
I would kick the [bleep] out of all of those girls.
If I was a wrestler, I'd have to be wonder woman.
I suppose my signature move
Would have to be smothering people
With my large breasts.
[Laughs]
I would be ramilicious.
My signature move would include
A draped piece of fabric
That's wrapped around my arms.
Where I confuse the person I am fighting with
To mislead them, and I run around them
And kick them in the back, and pin them to the ground.
My wrestling name is spread eagle.
My move is to get people in a headlock
With my thighs and break their neck.
[Makes crushing noise]
If I was a wrestler, I'd probably call myself,
Like, the mexican jumping bean.
My signature move... It would be a little twirl
With a kick.
[Laughs]
[Tim] oh, that's great.
[Laughter and applause]

-A diva name? -Yeah.
Um, probably polysyllabicus.

Who do you think is the toughest judge?
Heidi, this season, you were pretty tough.
-You're pretty tough this season. -Yeah.

She's gotten tougher?
-[Designers] yeah. -Look at her face.
That's so weird.
I don't know.
I don't think of myself like that.
But I just really say what I think.
[Tim] I think it corresponds
To the level of talent.
You all are so good
That it's raised the whole level of conversation.
I'm just glad that there's more bad cops
This season.
Someone came up to me and they're like,
"You're 'mean-a garzilla.'"
-And I was like-- -[designers gasp]
That's your wrestling name!
Yeah, that's the wrestling name!
Ha!
Maybe the reason
That you guys think I am tough sometimes
Is because I try to judge
You guys to what I am seeing
Out in the market.
And that is my job.
[Michael] but ultimately,
Real fashion people, they understand
That every designer's different.
And they want you to be your best.
I was up there the most, I think.
But all the information
That was given, shown or not shown,
It was worth it.
[Tim] michael, we have a question for you.
-Sure. -And it's from victoria.
She asks, "heidi introduces michael
"As a top american designer.
"But I've never seen him wear anything
"But a plain black t-shirt, black blazer,
And blue jeans."
I can't even imagine how easy it must be
To get ready in the morning.
That's the point. You got the point.
I mean, I have to say
That you guys would absolutely die
If you saw a picture of me at 18.
I was the most trendy, victim-iest--
You--you cannot even imagine.
Hats with jewels. Wrap belts.
I wore shawls, diaper pants.
I did-- you name it, man.
I did it. Okay?
And then when I started working, I was like,
"I don't want to think about what I'm wearing."
You know, with one extra pair of pants,
One white shirt, one black turtleneck,
I could to to the white house, and I could go to like a rave.
But on the other side of the coin,
I have to say, I would never give up
The idea of being young and ridiculous in fashion.
I loved it.
Um, so, you know, I say go for it.
-But that's why I stick to my g*ns. -Excellent.
-Heidi? -Yeah?
We don't have a question for you.

As you know, in fashion, one day you're in,
And the next day,
You're out.

It looked to me very home-sewn.
I was thinking britney spears.
I'm like, okay, now we just need the denim hat.
It looks schlumpy.
You've put too much on your plate.
You were really hungry, shoved it all on there,
And couldn't eat it.
Well, of course my favorite judge
Has to be heidi klum.
Because she is german, like me.
[Speaking german]
I've been dangling the sausage in front of your noses
All the time-- now it's going to fashion week.
Who is gonna eat the sausage?
[Imitating heidi] you're out.

Each season on project runway,
There are memorable looks.
Some good and some bad.
We have a question from martha
Via bravotv.com about the bad.
She writes, "judges, this season,
Who had the worst single design?"
Ooh! Oh, ouch.
That's mean. Ouch.
I know the hardest challenge.
The hardest challenge was the men's.
Men's, hands down. Hands down.
Trying to make men's clothes look slick and professional?
In that much time?
We weren't riveted
-To any of them, quite frankly. -No, it was...
Yeah, we saw jackets with no shirts under.
-It was really-- -thank you, heidi.
[Heidi] thrown together.
But they were all-- they were all--
[Michael] all very difficult.
[Nina] yeah.
What about the best design
Or the best challenge?
[Michael] my favorite was the hair challenge.
Yeah, mine too.
[Michael] first off, I think
That the quality of work that came out
Was really spectacular.
And then, although I'm sure
You guys were ready to slit your wrists
When you heard that you had to do the second version,
I thought that was the greatest thing in the world.
Because it really showed,
As a designer,
How are you gonna turn all of this into a business?
And it was a great collaboration
Between chris and christian.
I mean, they worked great together.
And it looked effortless.
Which one do you guys think was the worst design?
Maybe my wrestler challenge.
Mine.
I think that would be the worst.
They're all like, "yeah, you're right."
[Laughter]
Next question is for tim.

"In this season,
"The judges often seem
"To go in a different direction
"Than you might.
"Do you ever make your opinions known
To the judges outside of 'tim's take'?"
No, I don't.
Um, and I have to say,
I know what happens in the workroom.
I know where you've been and where you end up
With each challenge, and I'm nothing
If not encumbered by that.
Which is why I wouldn't be a good judge.
Because I couldn't truly be objective
The way that the three of you really can be.
For as much as we would want to find out what's happening--
I don't want to know. In the workroom,
It's better that we don't know,
Because we really
Are judging you without any...
You know, information whatsoever.
[Heidi] and now it's your time to grill us.
[Tim] questions for the judges.
What do you guys write
On the cards?
Like, is there like a number system?
We have a number system, yeah.
The scores are from one to five,
Five being the highest score.
I see you, like, write, like, words,
Like, "oh, my god" or "horrible" or something.
I write, like,
My quick visceral-- like when it comes out,
I'm like, "it was blue, it was this,
Kind of fabulous, hate the skirt," whatever.
It's just writing little notes about your immediate reaction.
Designers, who among you
Feel that you were sent home before your time?
Me.
Jack? Chris? But you came back.
Yeah, I came back.
Marion, what about for you?
Well, for me to be dealt
A $15 challenge, which is not my forte,
I do think I should've gone home,
Because I didn't perform.
But it was sort of sad
Because I am a little more on the avant-garde side.
And I did want to show that.
And I just didn't have the chance to do that.
This brings us to a question

And he is asking,
"How could you have
"Sent kevin home in the prom challenge?
This was the worst decision the judges have ever made."
Wow, I thought she just looked older.
-Matronly. -Yeah.
-The entire thing-- -it's styling.
Had styling issues.
-Yeah, fit issues. -Fit issues, color.
We're back here again! Jesus christ!
[Laughter]
She was like 15 going on 59.
That whole prom challenge was almost like,
Everyone was like off their game, and I'm like,
[Bleep], I couldn't have squeaked by on this one?
What's your next question over there?
My next question was actually to christian,
Because did you think that you were going
In that moment too?
Uh, yeah.
[Laughter]
It was really ugly.
[Heidi] what do you think, kevin?
Do you think that he should've gone instead?
I was looking at it, like,
This kid's way too good.
He's got so much more to show.
If--if you guys had asked me in that moment
Whether it should've been him or i,
I would've said "I'll go,"
Because, I mean, I want to see what he's capable of.
-[Heidi] that is nice! -That is nice. Lovey.
My whole thing was,
Yes, I mean, I probably
Wouldn't have wanted to go home.
But I had a really tough situation.
I actually would have loved to have his model.
You know, 'cause she was cooperative,
And friendly and fabulous.
And my girl wasn't.
I've gotta tell you, between the two of them,
I at least felt that you
Had put a lot of work in it.
And yours, the work wasn't there.
Oh, definitely.
Rami, do you have some advice
To future project runway designers?
I would say to anybody who's considering doing the show,
It's not as easy as you think.
Um, but I think one thing for sure,
It's not just to be seen.
I really think you really need to love what you do,
And have a passion for what you do.
Can I add, though,
That it's-- in addition to the work
That you produce, and how that's judged and evaluated,
It's also your qualities of character
Are being judged and evaluated
In terms of how you handle situations.
I think for probably all of us,
It's a difference of being who we are
On--on television, and then going out
In the real world and being who we are for real.
What does that mean?
What we do here doesn't necessarily apply
To who we are and what we do in the real world.
Did the rest of you feel the same thing?
Like you weren't being real on the show?
We are being ourselves,
But it's under a different environment.
It's under different constraints.
[Elisa] you are putting all these creative people together.
You're putting them in a petri dish.
They're isolated.
They're working under unusual circumstances.
And then they're asked to produce amazing things.
And that's something that I think that people
Coming into the show need to be prepared for.
People who haven't gone through the process,
They have no idea.
This is just showtime times 1,000.
[Heidi] unfortunately, we don't have

[Carmen] I love christian, and I love jillian.
I love them both, but I just think that america
Would be a little more ready
For what rami would have to present.
I think that the last four
Are all incredibly talented people.
You have jillian, who just as steven said,
You know, does these delightful, very sort of I could wear that.
I mean, if I'm thinking I can wear jillian,
Then I think that's
A really great leap.
And then what chris did
From the first challenge to what he's done.
So it's gonna be really hard for you guys to decide.

I also am most excited to see jillian.
She always has a new surprise
Every challenge, and she grows.
I agree. This is gonna be exciting.
-Victorya, what do you think? -[Victorya] christian.
Why?
I think I believe most in his talent.
I think he is the one designer with the most talent.

Marion, what are your thoughts?
[Marion] I believe it's gonna be rami.
I think he is gonna do
Something different than what he's done in the past.
But also incorporate what he does now.
Jack, who do you think will win?
I mean, for me, it's like
Rami's known as a great technician.
And obviously we've seen
That chris march can do amazing things.
You can see from his portfolio
He's got this crazy talent.
You never know. It's anyone's game.
Well, heidi, I don't envy you
And michael and nina and our guest judge.
Because having seen the collections,
-I wouldn't want to have to judge them. -I cannot wait.
[Heidi] I know, it's gonna be very, very hard,
But honestly, I cannot wait.
It's been such a long time
