And to me, he's like a brother.

My decision right now is either, whether

I want to have a long distance relationship with sean,

This is the true story...

Of eight strangers...

Picked to live in a house...

[ Pedro ] every june, every major city across the country

Has what we call "g*y pride".

And one of the A*DS organizations

Is collecting money,

So sean, and judd,

And cory, and pam

Volunteered to stand there with baskets and collect money.

Okay, the next group.

Me and sean, we've been talking about it for weeks.

We decided to get married.

We decided to, you know, commit,

And we decided that one of the things that we want to do

Is exchange wedding bands.

Then, you know...

We had the thought of, "well, if we're gonna do that,

"Then maybe we should just have a get-together

"And invite friends, and people, and family,

And people who are close to us."

If I do it, I want to do it at the house.

Oh, yeah. That'd be great.

So, you're invited !

Cool.

I wanted to make sure that it's okay with everybody.

Shouldn't we have the--

Aren't we supposed to have the party for you ?

Isn't that how it works ?

We're supposed to throw it for you.

Yeah. Yeah.

Oh, no.

Yeah.

I don't want to give you control of that.

My roommate alex is gonna be here for like ten days,

And I want to do it while he's here.

[ Sean ] what started out as just something private

And basic, between the two of us,

And it sort of evolved into a fairly large event.

So, what kind of friends are you bringing over ?

Um, or leathermen.

We could set-up like a whipping section over there.

Butch lesbians.oh, I love them.

And maybe one or two heterosexuals outside of you guys.

I like it.

Well, good 'cause we're gonna do it anyway.

Can I be the best woman ?

The best woman ?

I can't wait.

I'm so happy.

[ Alex ] well, just wanted to call and see you.

And I can't wait.

[ Judd ] alex is pedro's best friend,

His confidant,

And he dotes on pedro.

[ Pedro ] tomorrow you come.

Rush, rush, rush, rush.

[ Sean ] what do you want to do for minutes ?

Is that right ?

[ Sean ] I hate airports, I hate being in airports.

[ Pedro ] alex was telling me that he really wants to like sean,

But I'm moving to san francisco because of sean.

Yeah.

It looks great.

This is sean.hi. Nice to meet you.

[ Judd ] I don't know if... Alex was necessarily

Coming to san francisco to bring pedro back.

That wassomewhat of an ulterior motive,

But I'd say it was more along the lines that

Alex really wanted to come out here and--

And make sure that pedro was making the right decision.

So, is sean the quiet type or is he-- ?

[ Pedro ] he's pretty shy.

He was notlooking forward to meeting you.

Really.

And the thought of meeting my family...

Every time I mention something like that,

He like, goes berserk.

So, what's the definite plan after this ?

It's... ?

But you think you could be perfectly happy here ?

I could see myself living in san francisco.

Uh-huh.

I really can't see him living in miami.

I think he could move.

Huh ?

[ Phone rings ]

[ Puck ] it's the puck.

[ Pam ] puck called,

And I'd happened to answer the phone,

And I had notspoken to him since...

The night, where we threw him out.

[ Puck ] I can only tell you this, I am disappointed that--

Oh.whatever, that's cool.

Well, I'm disappointed in you, too, puck.

It was sort of weird because...

We really don't have that much to say to each other.

Oh, you know, I really don't want to talk about this now.

And then he stopped berating me about it,

And started telling me a little about what he was doing.

What are you doing on may th ?

Um...i don't have anything planned.

Soap box derby, may th.

Is it on the th ?high noon.

I might have to work that day, but I may not.

Well, I hope you don't work, and I hope I see you there.

The option is there, I could go check it out, um.

But, I also think...

"Why ?"

[ Puck ] guaranteed five hours of fun.

[ Puck ] the thing was just-- that was--i felt like

I was an outcast in the house anyway, you know ?

They were pushing me farther and farther out

Because I wouldn't be conforming to their stuff.

There's a lot of [ beep ] going on in my life right now,

You know, and you gotta just get over that

And make the most of what you're doing right now

In this conjunction of your life.

I dedicated my car

From the first race of the season to my roommates.

Snot rocket, pssst !

[ Cory ] do you want to go out to soap box derby ?

[ Pam ] I don't want to go to soap box derby,

But there's a like a little piece of me for a second that's tempted to go.

[ Jo ] I wasn't here to see your relationship,

So I have no idea, but from what you've told me,

He twisted your words around

And made you feel like you didn't want to feel.

The bottom line is that I will never forget the guy.

Ever.

[ Pedro ] I had all these touristy things

That I wanted to do,

But I didn't want to do 'em before alex got here,

And we had a great time,

In a week we just crammed so many things together.

And went from one end of the town to the other.

[ Rachel ] I like alex.

He's just one of those genuine, sincere people

Who just really cares about people.

I really liked him.

It's been interesting to see alex and sean together,

And it's just interesting, during dinner,

How like, sean would say, "I really like this,"

And alex would say, "we have it in miami."

South beach is very happening.

[ Pedro ] it's very happening ?

What ?

What am I missing ?

He's trying to convince me

That you can move to miami.

Oh, really ?it's like a pow-wow.

We'll have to separate you two.

It was really tough for me

Because I have two very important people in my life

With two very different agendas.

You've had what-- how many months have you had ?

How many years have you had ?

I think we're tied.

Alex really tried a few times

To convince me that sean could be happy there,

But he had a hard time doing it.

[ Pedro ] I think, pretty much

All the people that I wanted to invite are here.

Jim and marve.

Yeah.

Oh, andy.

What andy ?

You know, me and sean were in bed,

And we're just doing a guest list.

And that was an ordeal in itself,

Because you kind of get through the immediate friends,

You know, the close people in your life,

And then you start thinking, "well, should I invite this person ?"

You're gonna give a speech, of course, because--

[ Pedro ] I am not gonna give a speech.i love your speeches.

Being with pedro, someone who's so willing to trust,

And love, and sort of be honest with

Is refreshing.

I think knowing that pedro doeshave an A*DS diagnosis

And hasn'tbeen getting sick,

Makes me recognize the need to be here right now.

I know that one of us may get sick at some point,

But there's this underlying understanding,

Or this underlying feeling, this...i don't know what it is.

It makes it a lot easier.

[ Puck ] me and toni are made for each other,

I mean, we're kind of like uh, a matched pair there.

No time to get hung-up, just ride over the bull [ beep ]

And get back to the funny.

[ Laughing ]

You-- I love you.

[ Toni ] when I first met puck,

He was stinking and looking for a mate.

I think we're in love. I know we're in love.

[ Pedro ] we went shopping around,

And um, sat down to eat some pizza,

And just kind of rest for a little bit, and uh--

I kind of knew that this conversation was coming along.

I was surprised that we didn't have it sooner.

It's hard for me to get across to alex

That what's best for both of us

Is for me to move to san francisco.

I mean, you're so torn.

That's why I don't really understand, why, sean ?

I mean, you're sacrificing a lot.

Right. You are. You know.

Why it can't be a little bit on his side also.

I can't ask him

To move to miami

Because I know he wouldn't be happy there.

I mean, I know that for a fact.

It's so funny because, I don't know, some part of me

Never has really accepted it as--you know

I mean, I know you told me back then,

When you called me,

But I've never really taken it as a reality.

Like it would happen.

I kept saying, "yeah, it's a phase."

I'm very sure of how I feel about him.

There's just no doubt, there's no doubt in my mind

That I want to spend the rest of my life with him.

I have to take risks, you know ?

And it's sort of like, you know--

I have this shot at really being happy,

At really having something that I always wanted.

I mean, I always wanted the kind of relationship

That I have with sean.

I have a shot at it, I have chance to have that,

And I don't want to give it up.

[ Sean ] we're actually looking for wedding bands.

[ Worker ] wedding bands.

See,this is too thin.

Yeah, that is too thin.

How long will it take ?

To make it up ?mm-hmm.

Uh, figure about two weeks, three weeks maximum.

Is there a time factor here ?

Yeah, but--

Guess.now ?

[ Pedro ] me and sean have extremely different personalities

When it comes to uh, to planning things.

Sean is just very nonchalant about it.

It's like, "oh, it'll be taken care of,

It'll be taken care of,"

And I'm a nervous wreck thinking about doing it.

[ Answering machine picks up ]

[ Puck ] uh, yeah it's me, the puck.

On super sunday,

Today's the day.

Quite honestly, paris is burning.

[ Toni ] see if puck looked at me like he looked at

His soap box car, I could ask for nothing more.

He loves his soap box car.

Wooo !

What's that ?

I ain't losin' a nipple this time, buddy.

These are vodka jell-o shots that toni made for everybody.yeah ?

You want one, stinger ?

[ Stinger ] yeah !

Pretty good, but you're not supposed to drink and drive.

Oh, I think you can drive wood.

Look who it is in front of us.

It is my grandfather.

[ Toni ] I believe that puck and I are gonna get married.

It's just, we've been sobusy right now,

And things, got so rushed.

[ Puck ] I'm nervous, it's marriage, it's forever.

It's like, I'm not gonna get divorced

And married again, uh-uh.

[ Announcer ] racers ready.

[ Crowd cheering ]

[ Toni ] I think soap box, to puck, is a way for him to express

His freedom.

[ Crowd cheering ]

[ Screeching ]

[ Car screeching ]

[ Dog barking ]

[ Whistling ]

Oh, oh, carnage assessment.

No, you were behind me, buddy.

[ Puck ] there's something there about a base,

Something-- that I can go out

And do my crazy stuff in my life.

I can always come back and have toni there

Accepting me, unconditionally

[ Party clamoring ]

[ People gossiping ]

[ Laughing ]

Congratulations.

I'll give you a five minute warning.

Oh, okay.

[ Judd ] about four days before,

Pedro tells pam and myself

That we're going to be speaking.

Suddenly, I became the father-of-the-bride

And I wasn't prepared for that.

So, we're a little nervous, a lot nervous.

You don't want to screw this up. This is--

This is very important for both of them.

[ Pam ] can I have everyone's attention, please ?

We'd like to welcome you today

For coming into our house,

And we're very pleased to have you all here

To celebrate the relationship

That we have with two incredible people.

We're gonna have a few words,

And then we'll have the exchange of rings,

So...

Um, those of us who live here

Many of us who know pedro and sean

Have had the privilege of watching this relationship blossom.

And I remember quite clearly,

Pedro going on that first date,

And... I asked him,

"So is it a date ?"

[ Imitating pedro's accent ] "no it's not a date, we're just going out."

[ Laughter ]

But when he came back that evening it was, indeed, a date.

[ Giggling ]

So now here we are, these many months later...

For this wonderful day.

Pedro and sean have asked two people very close to them

To say a few words

And speaking for pedro...

Will be alex.

[ Applause ]

[ Speaking spanish rapidly ]

[ Laughter and applause ]

Woo !woooooo !

Now that that's out of the way, okay.

Umm...

A few months ago,

I got a phone call in miami, uh, from pedro,

And uh, he said, "guess what ?

Sean asked me to marry him and I said yes,"

And I assumed, naturally, that that meant that

Sean would be going back with pedro to miami

Because, uh...

It was never even a possibility to me

And the people in miami that he would...

Actually stay here.

[ Pedro ] it was really tough, you know ?

I wanted to go up to him, and hug him

And say, "I love you,

"And the fact that I'm moving to san francisco

"Is not gonna change, you know, our relationship,

"It's not gonna change the--

How much I love you."

I came out here, and...

With a lot of anticipations

And, in a way, hoping not to like sean.

[ Laughter ]

So, uh, I've spent a week with 'em,

Videotaping most of it, umm...

So that people in miami can really see,

And I hope that they do see how happy they are.

I may be losing a roommate, but I'm gaining...

A beautiful apartment in coral gables.

[ Laughter ]

And, uh...

I wish pedro

And sean... The best.

So, be happy, feed him well,

Which I know you will, and take good care of him.

That's it.

That I've ever encountered before,

But, it felt strangely right,

Like this--this is uh, an ordinary occurrence

Or rather, it should be.

And I went on my first date with him,

And came back and thought,

"He's really cute, has a wonderful smile,

Um, but there wasn't really anything there,"

Um, and decided...

[ Laughter ]

[ Cackling ]

But decided that I would go out on another date just me and him,

And we talked for about...

Hours and... I sat there

And there was nobody else in that room but me and him,

And I knew that, um--

I was gonna be in love with him,

That I was gonna fall in love with him.

He basically has--

Makes life very easy for me,

And, it is a lot easier for me to face my own fears,

And face the uncertainty of my own life

Knowing that he's there.

So, I love you.

[ Woman spectator ] aww...

I feel a connection or a closeness to pedro

That I have to anyone else in such a short period of time,

And I don't know what that has to do with,

But I know one thing's for sure,

I don't want it to go away.

[ Camera's clicking ]

This whole experience for me

Was not about pedro and rachel

I made this experience in a sense what I wanted.

[ Mohammed ] I don't have a lot of time to really focus on the house.

So I feel a little disconnected.

What's the difference between puck and the pool table ?

As far as verbal battles go...
